Voice control and smart home

Hi, previously when I added Sonos devices that have Alexa, they both show up as speakers but also can be selected in a group (room) to be the primary or one of several echos in the room that can then control certain functions (like when saying “Alexa, turn on lights” it can be limited to just turning on lights in that room.However, yesterday added a pair of Era 100 speakers, enabled Alex, and it is added and has Alexa enabled, but when I go to the app to add the Sonos speakers, I can add them as the speakers to a group for control, but neither speaker shows up specifically as an Echo device I can add to the group. Anyone else experience this, and how you remedied?  I tried taking Alex off and re-enabling, hoping this would fix things, but it is not.

If I have my computer on, will Sonos voice assistance play songs from my Music Library?

Just got Yonomi’s 30-day notice “sunset” email hence this request.  I currently use Yonomi routines to control the inputs to the Sonos Amp that plays through the speakers on our DeckIf I say “Alexa turn on Deck Cable” then the audio output from our Virgin box is played via line-in and the volume set to 35If I say “Alexa turn on Deck Radio” then a Radio Staion I have in my Sonos favorites is set to play and Volume set to 50If I say “Alexa turn off Deck Cable” or “Turn off Deck Radio” then The Amp pauses.Can anyone suggest an easy (preferably free!) way to replicate this?Many thanksJust found out that as Line In can be added to “My Sonos” I should be able to use IFTTT to access it - when I first automated this that wasn’t possible so I had to use Yonomi.  Just need to work my way round editing in IFTTT.  Yonomi was so easy to do.Found that editing IFTTT in Windows much easier than in IOS app - just need to decide if its worth £2 a month to get more than two applets and more actions. Mode

I think the community is aware that to use two Sonos systems in two locations (e.g. primary home and vacation home) we are currently required to have separate accounts for each.  This forces an upgrade to a family plan for Prime Music Unlimited or paying for two separate accounts.  Given how long this issue has been out there, it doesn’t seem likely allowing us to use one account on either system is happening soon.  I do understand the single stream restriction is from Amazon based on my individual subscription plan, however I do think Sonos could make it easier on their user community for finding a creative compromise.  For example, since the system needs to be linked to an account, why not make it selectable within the Sonos 2 app.  I can pick which system is “active” with my account and that makes the other system inactive until I select otherwise.  Right now, my option is to delete it from one, set it up at the other and then repeat the process when I go home.  A lot of extra work

I’ve been using a Sonos One with SVC and Alexa for 5 months. Recently, SVC stopped responding, so I tried removing it and reinstalling, but it fails near the end of the SVC installation process every time. I’ve tried from 2 different devices with the same result.  Today I’ve done a reset of the One and tried again, but it still fails. Alexa and music services appear to be working normally. Any suggestions?Moderator edit: combined posts:Scrub that! Since the system reset now Alexa won’t play any music. Internet queries are fine and Airplay still works 😞 Ok, got Alexa working again by removing the Sonos skill and re-adding it. Still can’t install SVC. I should add that I’m running the latest App and firmware versions available. The installation appears to fail at around 90% progress.

I was quite frankly shocked that the new and improved Move 2 actually has diminished functionality compared to its predecessor. It’s jarring to discover that a new generation of technology is less integrated, less compatible and less useful. Like many in this community, I’ve set up a vast wireless system complete with several smart devices and Sonos has always been an integral component to controlling the entire system. I hope that this will be resolved, otherwise perhaps the original Move and all of the older Google Assistant compatible Sonos speakers are the better solution. This is a real shame since great audio quality is what we’re here for, but not without the utility we’ve come to expect from Sonos. Thanks so much.Perry

Sonos randomly thinks someone has asked it a question and provides a useless (and loud) answer to the non-question.  It doesn’t happen often but it’s often unnerving if it does. It has nothing to do with the TV being on, as has been given as “the” answer on questions from other users.  It doesn’t ususally happen then. It sometimes happens when no one is in the room where Sonos lives. I am told to turn voice control off, and I may do that, but isn’t this a bug in SONOS software that they should fix?

Dear community,My family consists of me (father), my wife and my two sons. We have SONOS speakers all over the house, among them Play One’s in my kid’s rooms. We all have the SONOS S2 app installed on our individual iPhones, and each of us is logged into his or her own respective account of Apple Music Family, also being logged in to each one’s individual account of the Apple Music Family service on each one’s SONOS app. The SONOS system is registered to me.Obviously, we want to prevent that our four different music tastes are mixed. All works fine as long as the (Apple Music or SONOS) apps are used. Even when started by everyone’s SONOS app, the library, “recently played” section and music suggestions on the Apple Music accounts do not mix, it’s all allocated to the right account.Now enter voice control. My sons have Sonos One’s in their rooms and I understand that only one Apple Music account can be allocated to the houshold’s Alexa. Then we tried Sonos Voice Control and initially go

I can’t seem to play any playlist from either Apple Music or My Sonos using Voice Control.  Can using app.Just installed new One’s and Move’s on my existing Connect and Play1 system.  Love the voice control, but something doesn’t seem right.Removed Apple Music and reinstalled.  Also made Apple Music default.Observation:  Within Apple Music App the playlists are shown in a typical list with a color logo for each.  Within Sonos App, under Apple Music, the playlists are shown without a logo but also not all are shown.  Under “recently added” what appears to be all the Apple playlists are shown and most have a color logo.  All this makes me think there’s a syncing issue or something.Ideas on how to resolve?

I am a long time Amazon Music + Assistant user on my Sonos One, and am attempting to change to Apple Music.  Since my listening workflow is calling out songs or bands using voice-control, which works fairly well with Amazon, I am trying to use the Sonos Voice Assistant with my new Apple Music sub.Here is my problem -- accuracy is ABYSMAL for me so far!  I’m not seeing this complaint often online, so I wonder (and hope) I am doing something wrong.  The Sonos Assistant is using Apple Music (in fact I disconnected Amazon entirely from Sonos to make sure it wasn’t causing issues), but nearly all of my requests are failing entirely or being mistaken.  Here is a sample workflow:Q: “Hey Sonos.  Please the song ‘Solitary Man’ by ‘Crooked Fingers’”  A: “Sorry, I didn’t understand what you asked for.  Do you want to play something by Crooked Fingers instead?” Q: “Hey Sonos.  Play the song ‘Solitary Man’ A: [Plays ‘Solid Men to the Front’] Q: “Hey Sonos.  Play the song ‘Solitary Man’ A: [Plays ‘S

Hi  I have a weird issue. For years I have been able to turn on/off my TV through voice command using google assistant on my Sonos One. Suddenly this has stopped working, and the google assistant in Sonos says “Sorry unknown error has occured on [name of my chromecast]” (this error might not be precise, I have translated it from my native language). I am able to for example pause/unpause the chromecast using voice command. If if say the exact same turn on/off command using the Assistant app on my phone the TV turns on/off. I have tried unlinking/removing my assistant both in Google Home app, and in the Sonos. Linked it again, and went through the setup process, but the same error occurs. I have also tried renaming my Chromecast (found that advice in a similar thread), but same result. Both my Sonos One and Chromecast has newest firmware. If i go to https://myactivity.google.com/ and filter on assistant, I can see the command, and here it also says that unknown error has occured. Anyone

I have no problem using the app to play music from the music service Napster. but when I try to play music using Sonos Voice Control, it says that it cannot do that until I register with a music service. I tried to name Napster as my default music service but the app says that Napster is incompatible. I m using the app with the Sonos Roam, which I will have to return if I can’t play music with the voice controls (which is why I bought it).

Ok, called customer services today and was on the phone for a hour trying to resolve and was unable to, all of a sudden Alexa has stoped working on my one, went into the app and a voice assistant was not loaded on, went through the first steps of adding voice assistant after selecting Alexa I get a spinning loading wheel then the message “there was a problem starting Amazon alexa, make sure your mobile device is connected to Wi-Fi. done the usual uninstalling/ reinstalling apps and factory reset my speaker and still the same. Any ideas?!

I am willing to pay someone in Sono to produce an app to be able to sound on the hour and on the 1/2 hour of choosing various church Bells that would even stop the music for the on the hour church bell and 1/2 hour bell sound. I would even let sonos rent the app to make some monies . I live in the mountains and work outside and would love to know what time it is by listening to the church Bells. 

Is there anyway to get Google Assistant working on the Era 100?  

Hi. I have my livingroom set up as a  Sonos TV Surround system (inc Beam Gen 2, Sub Mini, and 2 Era 100s). But I also have several Amazon Echo devices dotted around my home, and use Alexa as my main “smart speaker” voice controller.I have created a Group, and I can add my “Livingroom” to the group, but no matter what I do I cannot actually get it to play anything on the Sonos system when I say (for example) “Alexa, play Xxx on the Everywhere Group.

HelloI’m a bit puzzled by an issue which started just few days ago (can’t pinpoint exactly when).I’ve been using Sonos Voice Control since it’s been released on a Sonos Roam and Sonos One to stream from my Apple Music, and it’s been working perfectly fine.Then suddenly, when requesting a specific song, I started to see error in the app “Unable to play song xxx, file not encoded correctly”, and nothing plays.The song is recognised and added properly to the queue, but can’t play. Pressing play button in the app at that stage gives the same error.If I then try to search the same song through the app and play it, it works perfectly fine. So it’s really just when finding the song through voice assistant that it doesn’t work.If there’s nothing in the queue to start with and I just say “Hey Sonos, play music” (so nothing specific), it starts playing from my “station” and it works well… I tried to remove Sonos Voice Assistant and re-add it, I tried to remove Apple Music and re-add it, I tried

Hi, first time here.I have a problem when trying to play a radio station with Google Assistant on a Sonos One.Trying to play “SR P3” a swedish radio station through the voice command “Hey Google, play P3” and it worked without a problem until 1 month ago but now it only starts a spanish radion show without the text “P3” in the title. It works without problem on my phone and open the right radio station in TuneIn.I have tried to unlink and link TuneIn and also tried using it with out TuneIn-account synced to my Sonos. Searched the forum but couldn’t find any problem like this, or maybe my search was bad.Does anyone have som idea what the problem can be?

Help!If I go to cast music from my phone and tap that cast icon, my soundbar+sub doesn't show up in the list of devices, but rather, only if I further tap the 'Airplay and Bluetooth devices'. You might be thinking, well yeah, you didn't set it up in Google Home. Yet, I did, and when I go directly into the Google Home app, I can see it listed there among my other speaker devices.It seems like I have to choose between soundbar+sub (via 'Airplay and Bluetooth devices') or my other speakers (Google Home devices). How do I get the soundbar+sub to show up alongside my other google home devices when I go to choose which devices to cast to?Is it possible that Airplay somehow claimed ‘ownership’ and I need to disable the Airplay connection and reestablish the connection only via Google Home (somehow?). Hello every one I picked up a lovely pair of sonos 1 gen 2 s18’s the other day.They are in my sonos app as a steep pair they are streaming Spotify and amazon music through their apps but Alexa is just being DUMB she keeps saying hmm and enable the skill whilst the skills are enabled!I have another sonos 1 which she works perfectly on. Amazon were useless in finding an answer. Please help.

My sonos move can't connect to sonos voice control. It times out and asks me if I have a wifi connection, which I do,a good one.

have created a routine in Amazon Alexa which includes playing music from the Sonos Roam. After some time when the Roam goes into sleep mode - it seems that it does not respond to the Alexa routine unless it is manually woken up.I have read other forums which say the Roam should respond to Alexa routines even while in sleep mode - soI'm wondering if there is something else I need to doAll I can think is to disable to sleep mode on the Roam so it is alway on, but obviously this has effects on battery lifeCheers for any input!

Alexa suddenly quit playing on my Sonos One speakers.  What is the fix?

Hi, I am about to acquire an Arc and some Era300. I watched some youtube video saying sonos voice control does not work with spotify.  Are these video still up to date ? Maybe this has been fixed recently ? Does it ? Thanks for you share. P

Alexa whisper in Era 100 not working, is it normal?
