Sometimes, we just wish we could start over. Though if you’re considering factory resetting your Sonos devices, there are a few things you should know first. What a Factory Reset is Not: A cure for skipping music. The majority of cases where music is cutting out or skipping are caused by interference in the WiFi environment (Even if everything else seems fine, and yes, even if you seem to have good bandwidth in that room). Sending music from room to room (or device to device), is rather demanding. Just because one device works fine, it doesn’t mean that all others will as well. Location, distance to router, devices nearby, there are many things that can influence a WiFi device and its ability to effortlessly send and receive information. The solution for a room disappearing from the app. Factory resetting your speaker to solve this problem is rarely (almost never) the answer. You would be better served by doing an evaluation of your network environment, to ensure there is no
This article is intended to get you unstuck if you are having problems adding a Sonos device to your existing system. Firstly, this is with the assumption that you already have one or more Sonos products and are simply adding onto that system. If your setup is brand new and this is your first device, please see this article instead: Setting up your Sonos system. If you haven’t run into any problems with the setup but are just unsure how to go about it, see this help article: Add a new Sonos product to an existing system. If you have followed the usual steps with no success, read on… We have assembled a short list of quick tips to try to get your device added in as quickly as possible. Let’s try some of these things first. Restart the device that has the Sonos app installed on it (we call this the controller device): This can help for many reasons. For example, sometimes, an application running in the background can interfere with devices on your home WiFi network. Unplug your router fo
Hello, new to the forum. I have a play one Sl that I can’t connect to my new router. I have other units that have paired no issue just this one. I have wired it in for the moment and works ok. However when I try to create a surround, I choose the speaker it’s playing from the app and the wireless one will not work and asks to add to the wifi network again. It will not add if the wired one is in. If I reset both then add the other play one it pairs ok. But still can’t pair the Sl, that has to go wired again. The system was all ok before I upgraded to the pro hub 2. I can play them all together no issue just this pairing issue that’s possibly causing the surround issue too? I have spoken both to Sonos and Vodafone but still getting no where. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated and sorry for the long postMany thanks
Why is the Beam such a crappy speaker? After having it connected to my SONY Bravia I tired of it losing the connection. Connect, disconnect, connect. Over and over again and again. I finally moved it to the bedroom to use as a stand alone speaker. Again with the same connection problem. Sometimes it plays. Other times it doesn't produce sound even though the app is showing the little dancing bars.Hell the Roam has outshined the Beam. It has been flawless for such a little speaker.I went through he whole wifi updating as recommended by Sonos and it working for a while but then it stopped playing when selected. It seems to like when it's selected via the iMac but not the iPad. Sometimes it likes the iPhone other times not.Totally frustrating to invest so much money on the Sonos products and experience this crap. Sonos get you act together. You have a real issue here.Anyone else suffering with this speaker? I am ready to invest in another company’s products, Hello Klipsch or Polk and hea
I have a three room setup - two stereo pairs of play 1s downstairs and a single play 3 upstairs. I mainly listen to stuff on Spotify which I usually do through the Spotify app, however I sometimes want to listen to the radio which I use the SONOS app to play.Last weekend radio was working fine. This weekend it isn't working at all. I have tried to play several radio services through the SONOS app along with Spotify. In the case of radio stations, if a room had previously been playing something started on the Spotify app, it resumes play from Spotify. When I try to play Spotify through the SONOS app I get the error adding tracks message.Grateful for any advice.
Is it possible to force Sonos to use the 5 GHz band and thus avoid microwave interference?I have recently replaced some old Sonos devices with new S2 capable devices, so I have a mixture of Sonos Five, Sonos Port (all new) and Play:3 (older, not replaced). Three of them are hard-wired to the LAN, the rest rely upon wireless. My home WiFi network supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz (same SSID) with two WAPs to provide good 5GHz signal throughout my house. My problem is that when I use my microwave a number of the devices lose the music stream (which is coming from a NAS hard-wired to the LAN). This suggests Sonos is using 2.4GHz. Is there anyway I can have the Sonos devices just use 5GHz all the time to avoid this issue?
I’m trying to use my Samsung remote to control the volume on my playbar. I used the app to set up IR control but when it comes to the first step, it doesn’t pick up the volume buttons on my remote. The only button on my remote that the playbar picks up is the power button. Whenever i press the power button during the setup, it continues and says my remote is setup. The power button on my remote is being used to turn off and on my tv and apparently control the volume on my playbar. Is there a fix for this?
Hello, I have two 5s and a one sl in our living room. I just ordered a one, to finish off the room. The room is 40’ x 12’ and I am going to put the speakers up high, about 6.5’-7’ up. Which way will I want the 5s positioned, landscape or portrait, I want the volume paired so when I turn the volume up, all the 5s and ones stay the same, without have to adjust each. I don't really care if they are paired in stereo though. I have a one sl and a move each is in its own room. We generally have the same music playing through the whole house. But need the volumes for each at different levels. I want the living room to be blanketed in sound though. It is just for music, not tv. Here is a rough diagram of what the room looks like and where I was thinking of putting everything. The main concern is changing the speakers in this room equally at the same time, and whether the 5s need to be in portrait or landscape and if it matters. The blue object are sofas and chairs. Thanks
We have a Playbar, Beam and a couple of 1 portable speakers, all of which we love. We’d like to add a couple of outdoor (waterproof/resistant) speakers. Here are my questions:Since we have a Sonos system, do we still need an amp? (The Playbar is just off the patio, indoors). Would the outdoor system be considered a new system or can it integrate with our current system? I’m assuming the speakers still need to be plugged in, yes? Do the speakers communicate with the amp wirelessly? Thanks in advance!
My connect speaker stopped working and I cannot add it back to the system. Has blinking red light and will not clear with a factory reset. Sonos can’t see the connect box anymore WTH happened. My factory reset consists on powering on the connect box while holding the pause/forward button. Amber light comes on briefly, and then straight to flashing red.
Hello, I have 8 one SL speakers through a 2500 sq ft house. I had multiple problems with far reaching speakers from the router cutting out on my wifi. I have moved the router to the central part of the house and connected one of the speakers to my router via ethernet to create the mesh sonos network. I’m still having problems with the speakers cutting out (one of them being the speaker that is connected to the router). I have rebooted all speakers, changed the channel on the sonos. My last option is to call my cable provided to ensure that the channels match and the other channels are disabled. I disconnected the wifi extender and live in a house so should not have to much interference from my neighbors. My next thought is getting a boost but before I purchase it I want to ask if that is really going to correct the problem? The far reaching speakers are cutting out but it is happening on the majority of them intermittently. Sometimes I can uncheck the speaker and check it again
Hi, code error 6 again… really like sonos but , every 2-3 months there is an issue with the system.. My wifi runs great.. Don't mind paying those expensive speakers but its pretty annoying to always have to shut down things 2-3 times to make things work. is there a simple solution. I have 2 play 5 in one room , Arc SL, 2 ONE SL and one sub in another room.. update required , not working when trying to updated , problem with updating system , not able to update..
Hi, I have a sonos one and a sonos one sl connected together. the system says to do an update but gets stuck on the first stage. i restarted the router, tried from the mobile app and pc; if I start playback from spotify only one of the speakers works but the system detects them both how can i solve? thank you
Hi All, Hope someone can help. I’ve been having major problems getting my Sonos speakers, 2 Roam SLs, to connect with my WiFi through my phone - Android with the S2 app. I occasionally get one speaker (of 2) to connect (let’s call it L) and I think I may have solved this, but the system can’t see the other (R). The system settings claim a speaker is “powered off,” though I’m standing next to it and the light (white) is on. Naturally I’d like to resolve this and set up the stereo pair. I’m not even entirely sure the one that’s connected will stay so, it’ll take a few days to work this out and it seems to connect at random, without changing WiFi settings. Here’s what I’ve tried so far and noticed, over the space of a couple of weeks:factory reset of both speakers. This worked once and I got them set up as a stereo pair, but then the system couldn’t find them again. it found them twice by itself, but failed to about 10 times (I gave up and tried on 3 occasions and would estimate abo
Hi, I’ve just bought a new pair of SLs and they are really good. The only problem that is bugging me is that the left speaker stops a little bit earlier than the right speaker when I hit pause on Spotify. Is it a common thing?P/s: They do start playing music at the exact same time though.
I have an Arc Bar, two Sonos Ones for surround and a sub working together (or used to) in my living room.Yesterday (1/23/2023) there was an update to the system/app for Apple and now the system no longer stays connected or even works together. All speakers are intermittent in connecting to the app as well as themselves. I can not form the surround room anymore. The sub just wont connect at all.I have factory reset the entire system at least 4 times at this point. There has been no change to my wifi system for over a year and nothing else is having issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Sonos One vs. AirPlay. 😡Can't play from my iPhone/Music App throught Airplay on our 1 Sonos One - the other 2 we have, works without problems.Tried doing a reset, and it works, RIGHT until I play something from the Sonos app on my iPhone, then it won't work again! Everything is updated, the iPhone, Apps and the Sonos speakers….. What to do??“cannot connect to Køkken” ⤵️
Hello, I was wondering if I could to improve the quality of sound out of my large tower speakers by connecting my first Sonos amp to the lower speaker terminals at the back of the speaker, and then adding a second sonos amp and connecting those outputs to the upper terminals on the back of the same speakers. Has anyone done this? Did you get any measurable improvement?
Four Sonos Ones, two Sonos Threes. One Connect and One Boost. The Three are a pair. One of the Threes is hardwired into the router, as is the Boost. The other Three and the Connect are eight feet from the router, unobstructed line of sight.1300 square foot, single-level apartment. Drywall walls.New (Sept 2022) router.I cannot accept “network interference” as a reason why speakers drop and come back in sporadically.Yes I have rebooted the router, and at least weekly I unplug and replyg every speaker (which involves moving bookcases, which is nice).Diagnostic 233812001 and 964518148.
I just had long talk with Nick in support. I have TV connected to Playbar and a home theater group (subwoofer + L & R Play1s). Playbar has ethernet. I also have multiple Play1s around the house. I group them all to playbar to hear TV (via audio Optical into playbar). None of the Play1s have ethernet and all are on the same network (via Eero mesh). Problem is with TV playing or anything coming in via playbar’s optical audio (Roku, via TV, etc.) sound often drops (interruption) sporadically from the separate playbars. Not all speakers at once. One speaker drops, now then another speaker drops after but prior is back, etc. So, I can’t hear the TV sound (news) consistently if I leave the living room! Isn’t music (sound) throughout the house Sonos’ concept!?!! It does NOT seem to be a problem if I’m streaming music through the soundbar from Spotify, etc. Soundbar/theater and all Play1s have audio dependably. Perhaps this issue is limited to audio signals passing into the Soundbar from
I’ve had no luck in using the second ethernet port (tried switching left to right as well) on any of my six Play 5 Gen 1 speakers to extend on to another device, in this case, my win box computer. I got all these speakers used and just wondering if this was a failure point in them or not intended for this purpose. They work fine otherwise.
