Voice control and smart home

I’m a die hard Sonos supporter. My system works as it should. However nothing is perfect.I’d like to see Sonos (if possible) do something to improve the microphone sensitivity for voice assistants. I have three Arc Ultra’s and all have difficulty picking up a request when audio is playing. Ironically, my Move 2’s are much more sensitive to picking up a voice command when playing audio.I don’t believe this is an issue where I need to submit a diagnostic. I’m well enough familiar with Sonos to know when an issue is not a glitch but something that may be corrected via a firmware update unless it is hardware based. If hardware then I’ll have to wait for the Arc Ultra Plus 😂.But seriously, hopefully the Moderators can push this as a low-level concern but one that would be most appreciated if addressed. 

It’s a bit difficult to pin down exact nature of the new problems with Google Assistant automation routines running on Sonos speakers that I reported earlier, but I’ve made some progress. It’s complicated by the fact that Google Home is in a state of flux at the moment as Google is making extensive changes that have introduced a lot of new bugs. No help from either Google or Sonos on this of course.The main item is this: now when a Google Assistant routine runs on Sonos and executes a custom command or query action that generates spoken output, it causes the routine to abort after completing the action.For example, you can have a routine with a series of actions to make device settings, or to tell you the time, the date. the weather, your schedule for the day, etc., and the routine will run just fine as long as they are standard actions or queries selected from the menu of the new automation editor. Hey everyone I recently upgraded my mini to Gemini and Sonos has been playing completely different song when I play it through google miniMy set up is Sonos 1 + google mini + Gemini.I will ask mini " Hey google play A song" and Google mini will respond with " Playing A song on this sonos" but what is playing on sonos is completely different song that i asked. I have tried rebooting mini and sonos . I have removed and readdded YT music and nothing works . It happens  on ALL my sonos controlled by google mini. This ONLY happens after i upgraded to Geminiis anyone having the same issue or find any solution ?Thanks 

I have a Sonos One pair in my living room with GA installed and also a Nest speaker in my bedroom that has updated to Gemini. I use an iPhone 17PM. My entire house runs on google assistant.  Almost everything that can be plugged including all my lights, switches, LED’s curtains, climate, air filter, dishwasher and teapot.  GA was being really buggy so I thought I would reset the speakers and re-add the assistant. Bad Idea.  Obviously it was before I read anything on this forum about all the issues. I spent hours and hours working on it. I finally figured out that the only way I could re-enable GA was if the speaker pair had a new name, and they were in a new “room.” Once I got it installed, however, it refused to respond to “Hey Google.” Then I tried enabling the audio indicator which I always had tuned off and BAM, now everything is working mostly ok. It still often doesn’t work perfectly, but it’s working better

recently beginning of 2026, my sonos beam is getting "i can't connect to internet right now" error prompt voice when we try to use the google assistant.we tried to reinstall the voice assistant mutiple times, still having issue. sometimes, it worked for a while and then same error message again.after some research, people were talking gemini and sonos voice control conflicts in the same network. we remove gemini from my android phone, but the error still exist.any advice?

I am using a stereo pair of Era 100 speakers and wanted to ask if Sonos would consider enabling native Chromecast and Gemini support on its speakers.Native Chromecast support would allow users to cast audio directly from any app that supports casting, without relying on individual app integrations or the Sonos app to initiate playback. I am a dedicated Sonos user with a significant investment in your ecosystem, including the new Arc Ultra, Sub, and several Era 100s. While the hardware remains industry-leading, the software experience is currently fragmented for those of us in the Google ecosystem.Currently, I am forced to place Google Nest speakers right next to my Sonos speakers because the Era and Ultra lines lack Google integration. I have no interest in Alexa or Sonos Voice Control; I want the power of the best AI ecosystem available today.My message to the leadership team: Please set aside the corporate friction and technical pride. Integrate Google (and the new Gemini capabilities) into your latest hardware. Don’t force your loyal customers to choose between great sound and a great AI assistant.

I have recently switched from Amazon Music to Tidal. I have linked the Tidal service in the Sonos app and can control using the Sonos app, I just can’t get Sonos to play Tidal music using voice commands (Sonos), I get the following back:“Sorry, Sonos voice control isn’t available for Tidal yet”.Can anyone help, or is just a limitation I have to live with?ThanksLee

I have a Sonos system consisting of 2 x Era 100s, 1 x Beam, 1 x Roam and a Connect. I have had all for a while, but over the last month have had difficulties using Alexa to control them. Alexa works fine to check weather, add stuff to a list, but when asking her to play music from either Amazon, or BBC Sounds, or Pocket Casts, she responds, tells me she is going to do it, and then does nothing. A reboot of the speaker gets her responding again, but this only lasts a short while. I have spent hours on the chat with Sonos, and a 2 hour phone call with them and my ISP this morning. Sonos blame the ISP, the ISP blame Sonos.

Honest not sure if this is a Sonos issue or Google issue or both.  After adding Sonos with Voice Match for my account, my partner goes into add Voice Match but it says there are no devices available. She can see the speakers in our Home but they are not appearing as eligible for voice match. She does however see a bunch of old versions of these speakers. does she need to add Sonos speakers herself as works with Google? Do I need to somehow share the speakers as available for voice match? 

Just over a year of owning the Arc, and I'm still a barely satisfied customer... It's a fantastic soundbar, but the voice control is very frustrating and in my opinion, it really limits our experience.After giving up with my preferred Google Assistant (because it can't play Apple Music on Sonos - why?!) and finding Sonos Voice far too limiting, I thought I'd try Alexa. So far, it's been the best of a bad bunch! At least it can play music and answer basic questions. But I've discovered a weird bug…While playing music from Apple Music, I asked Alexa what song is playing. Firstly, Alexa responds in the past tense (e.g. "That was Abracadabra by Lady Gaga"). But even more strangely, it actually tells me the details of the next song it's going to play, before I've even heard it! So that's some weird time travelling thing going on!There are other niggles, too. Like Alexa's voice is very quiet compared to the music so it's difficult to hear what it says. And I

When I say to Sonos, Alexa play Classic Rock Florida, it replies “ now playing” then immediately responds “ I’m having trouble playing that now”

My Sonos One’s are a pair, and have Alexa and Sonos voice control enabled. Asking for say ‘BBC Radio 4’ starts a service called 45 Radio (I have no idea why or even what it is). Speaking closely into the other speaker of the pair starts BBC Radio 4 no problem. I have tried removing voice services and re-enabling them doesn’t fix the problem. Please advise. Thank you. 

I have seen an old post on here but my Sonos Move announces it will play a Radio  then go silent, only just started doing it.

How do I set up Alexa voice commands with Amazon Music on Sonos?

Hey Sonos, hear me out... (this will never work but, let's try it anyway). To regain trust from your customers after the App redesign, you could decide to open up your systems to OpenHome and allow users to add their custom voice assistant with home assistant.This would be huge, there is a big community of makers and your devices are great and will easily be adopted as main voice assistant devices.If you compare the quality of a Sonos Era or One SL to the voice assistant preview from home assistant... it's like night and day.Let us add a custom voice assistant via API to our devices, people don't care much anymore about Google Home or Alexa. Let us have privacy and customization.Sincerely, one happy customer that would love this feature.

Recently, when I ask my Sonos 1 via Alexa to play something on Spotify, it tries to do so via my sister in law’s account Spotify account (which ultimately doesn’t work).  I checked my Sonos and Alexa configurations and don’t see any trace of her account information, everything is tied to mine.  It worked fine for years up until recently.  I also have a Beam and that works fine. The only area that I know of where any of our account infos would touch is we are both on a family Amazon Prime, and also Spotify family plan.  Does anyone know what to check or why this may be happening?  Thanks

I see there are multiple threads on this but from 8 months ago.i recently bought my mother a Move 2 and set her up with Sonos voice so she doesn’t have to reach for her phone or iPod to start music.She doesn’t want Alexa or anything cloud based so the Sonos voice processing on the device etc made it an easier sell.. great I thought.She is in her 70’s and so wants to listen to bbc radio 4 most of the time but the ruddy thing started playing some random artist when I asked for radio 4, when I asked for bbc radio 4 it told me it couldn’t.I have read the replies on here and now understand it doesn’t work. 1 such comment was interpreted as a feature request, another was stating it was a bbc sounds incompatibility… given I have added bbc sounds to the Sonos app, so sonos know she has a valid account and the app can merrily play the bbc radio selections with no issue… I don’t understand why this isn’t a thing. I have 2 Era 100 speakers setup as a stereo pair connected via WiFi. I’ve installed the Sonos skill on Alexa and gone through the setup process in the app. Everything works, but there seems to be a bug compared to an Amazon Echo device.  When I ask “Alexa, play the latest episode of NPR Up First”, the Alexa response is “You laying the latest episode of NPR Up First from Amazon Music” followed by the rather lengthy episode title; the episode is also laying at low volume in the background while Alexa reads the title. When she’s done with the title, either 1) the volume comes to normal, episode continues playing, but I’ve missed the start or 2) the episode stops being playing and I get silence or 3) the episode stutters then re-starts and plays.  I use this example because it’s most audible due to the long episode titles, but the same happens when I play music from Spotify; Alexa is reading the title while the song is already playing.  in contrast

How do I turn off Sonos Voice Assistant on a Ray?

Question regarding Spotify using Alexa. I have multiple Echoes and dots throughout the house. On both the Spotify desktop and mobile apps it shows all devices so I could select which one to play music or all as the everywhere group.   Other day I bought a Sonos era 100 and downloaded Sonos app. I can still use Spotify desktop app to select any/all devices (living room option is actually the Sonos). But now on my phone it's only shows desktop (pc app and speakers) Living Room/Sonos and my phone for playback. I want to be able to control each device on my phone but now can't. The Alexa app can't find the Sonos.
