Voice control and smart home

I cannot get voice control to play any of my Sonos playlists. It just starts playing something random from other services. This Sonos article states that playing Sonos playlists is supported in voice control.But not working for me. Any suggestions?

Hello,I installed Google assistant on my Beam Gen 2. When Spotify is playing music, I can ask google assistant to move to another song. But if Spotify is not playing and I ask to start it or just ‘play music”, google assistant answers he is not able to do this. Can someone help?ThanksCoco

I am using a stereo pair of Era 100 speakers and wanted to ask if Sonos would consider enabling native Chromecast and Gemini support on its speakers.Native Chromecast support would allow users to cast audio directly from any app that supports casting, without relying on individual app integrations or the Sonos app to initiate playback. This aligns closely with how many users already consume music, podcasts, radio, and streaming content across Android and Google TV ecosystems.Gemini integration would further position Sonos speakers as everyday smart speakers, extending their role beyond music to voice assistance and home interactions. This would increase long-term reliance on Sonos hardware rather than limiting usage primarily to music playback.From a practical and adoption point of view, this could: Lower the learning curve for new users Improve interoperability in mixed Android, Google TV, and Sonos households

Hi - I’ve been using Echo Dots for years to control my many Sonos devices.  I have set up groups in the Alexa app, so I don’t have to say the room / group name each time.  So I could say ‘Alexa play Rumours’ and it would play on the Sonos in the room I was in.  I could also say ‘Alexa volume up’ and this would be applied to the correct Sonos speaker. All as expected.I now have Alexa Plus.  The first command, above, works as before.   But now any command to change volume is applied to both the Echo device and the Sonos device.  I now have to specify the room name to ensure volume is only applied to the Sonos speaker.  so I just want to check if this is now the new expected behaviour or not?  many thanksAndrew

I don’t like the default voice for Sonos voice control - Is there any way to change it? Having only one option (and it being only a male option) is not a great experience.

I have recently switched from Amazon Music to Tidal. I have linked the Tidal service in the Sonos app and can control using the Sonos app, I just can’t get Sonos to play Tidal music using voice commands (Sonos), I get the following back:“Sorry, Sonos voice control isn’t available for Tidal yet”.Can anyone help, or is just a limitation I have to live with?ThanksLee

I set up alexa, it works. Next day it doesn't. It goes on and on.... Driving me mad. It just does no respond to the voice despite being set up in the app properly 

I see where newer Sonos speakers with voice control can activate Hue lights. For those of us with older models currently the Hue Sync Desktop app involves direct connection to your PC which is not where most of speakers are located. It would be great  if it could be more integrated like the Spotify connection for Sonos where Sonos and Hue are directly connected through the Sync option on the Hue app. Being able to choose which speakers and what playlist just like you can currently with Spotify and Hue would be a great feature to have.Thank you,Dan Spinella

New Era100 owner. I want to use voice control for BBC Radio stations (BBC Sounds).I do not want to use Alexa.Have I bought the wrong product?

I have a Sonos One and a Roam speaker.  Both have voice, and I use Sonos Voice control.My main source is BBC iPlayer (also use Deezer) but will not use Big Tech products - one reason I bought the Sonos was that the Voice facility is local not cloud/BigTech based.The speaker won’t recognise a request to turn on BBC iPlayer, so I have to do that through the app (half a billion users of BBC haven’t got through to Sonos..!) but previously, if I ask it to turn on, it would have turned on whatever was previously playing.  Now, it just says “this speaker is not a home movie product”…Obviously, something has changed from the Sonos end...does anybody know what?

Out of the blue last month my Sonos one stopped playing music on YouTube music. I’ve tried unlinking and de authorising and nothing seems to work I swapped to Alexa and had no issues other than Alexa doesn’t let you use YouTube music and since that’s the service I use. effectively I’m left with a paperweight as it stands 

Please allow a future integration with home assistant by allowing the sonos speakers to work as satalites for Home Assistant.  Or integrate sonos voice to communicate with home assistant. It just makes sense that this is on the pipeline for updates. I like many others are well invested in the sonos ecosystem, with speakers in every room. , its just annoying having to run sonos, alexa and have a separate satellite for HA.  With sonos voice being the most non-cloud friendly,I thought you would pair well with HA. I hope this gives food for thought and I hope to see some sort of improved integration with HA in the future. Help male smart homes smarter 😄 Thanks Dave

I have a HomeKit scene that plays music to multiple Sonos speakers. I just noticed that for some reason it’s creating multiple groups, each playing the same thing, except one group. As an annoying consequence of this, as they’re playing an Internet radio station, the different groups sometimes get out of sync slightly, resulting in an annoying echo effect as some speakers are very slightly behind the others. If I go into the Sonos app and move all the speakers into a single group this fixed is, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having an automation to play the music. Is there anyway to control this to get it to just create a single group? My assumption is that this would need to be on the Sonos side of things, as HomeKit just sees the individual AirPlay speakers.

As it stands Sonos hasn't been programmed to accept Gemini. Here's why. The Sonos app is design to communicate with the Google assistant app. Gemini is a separate app. The sonos app attempts to open the Google assistant app only. If you've switched to Gemini, your Sonos devices won't accept your new AI assistant. 

I have a Sonos One. At the end of January Google Assistant stopped being able to play tracks on Spotify (it would work with other commands). There was at least one other forum post about a similar issue and there was even a Status post at https://status.sonos.com/ for the issue. I opened a support case and it was recommended that I watch the status post.However, a couple of weeks ago the status post disappeared (I can no longer see it, but the link was https://status.sonos.com/incidents/5g9b95ggcymg) and yet it still doesn’t work. I have tried many variations on removing and resetting connections and still nothing.Surely I am not the only one who still has this issue?! Thanks!

After lots of investigation and comparison, in January I decided to select Sonos for my whole-home music system speakers, to be controlled via my extensive Home Assistant smart home system via the Music Assistant subsystem (HA/MA). The purchase timing was influenced by IKEA discontinuing their Symfonisk line, with the remaining speaker inventory available for half-price, plus a Sonos 25%-off sale.I first bought a pair of Symfonisk Picture Frame speakers, and after onboarding them with the Android Sonos app, they were instantly discovered by HA/MA after adding the MA Sonos Provider. Aside from lacking the TruePlay feature, these speakers were everything I hoped they would be. Great sound for just $150 each.So I immediately bought a pair of Sonos Era 100 speakers (for BT and aux-in support) and a pair of Roam 2 speakers (for initial outdoor support), which also were onboarded via the Sonos app and were discovered by HA/MA.The system performance was even better! I know this has been brought up before, but a while ago. Wanted to show some support for it again.I have Sonos Speakers, which I love, and I’m starting out with my more privacy-focused smart home through Home Assistant. Sonos Voice Control was been really helpful on the privacy front! Having another privacy-focused option as the voice assistant would be great! I can control an Alexa and a Google Assistant smart home, so why not Home Assistant as well?Thank you!

Hallo,Ik gebruik de google assistent al jaren zonder probelem op mijn sonos beam maar sinds kort praat die half Engels en Nederlands door elkaar heb de assistent van de speaker verwijder en opnieuw toegevoegd hopend dat het opgelost zou zijn maar nu kan die helemaal geen commando's uitvoeren ik kan wel vragen "wat is de tijd" dan krijg ik in het Nederlands antwoord als ik vraag doe de lampen uit dan krijg ik in het Engels antwoord of als ik synchroniseer apparaten zeg dan krijg ik in het Engel dat alles opnieuw gesynchroniseerd is maar niks werkt meer iemand een idee Op alle systemen staat alleen Nederlands als taal geen 2e taal locatie staat ook op Nederland alle systemen ook geüpdatet 

March ‘26 still no further. Wow!Still can’t get rid of the ‘red stripe’ device offline. Some settings may not be available.. Been ages now. Appalling! Didn’t really need to buy Alexa compatible speakers. Sonos, Alexa owes you a few...!If anybody has any fixes that aren't online, let me know.Jay Bullrich

There is a service notice about this posted now by Sonos now under Support, and it has been discussed in the “Update on the problems with Google automation routines” thread, but it deserves its own topic.A couple of days ago Sonos speakers using Google Assistant stopped responding to any media playback commands from Google, including Play, Stop, Set volume etc., although basic Google Assistant commands like “Time?” and “Weather?” were still working. Only Google was affected - Alexa, Home Assistant and other services could still perform those functions through the Sonos api.
