Are there any plans to bring YouTube music compatibility to SVC? I see in the forum this has been a recurring topic and something the community are looking for, but haven’t seen confirmation one way or another from Sonos.

I was ready to cave and just use Google Assistant instead so I could at least play my music with voice commands, then discovered Sonos won’t let me use Google Assistant with most of my Sonos devices. Sonos represents itself out as compatible with YouTube Music but it really isn’t feeling that way…

Sonos has not made any announcements about expanding what services work with SVC, which doesn’t mean it’s not in development.  Sonos rarely announces what features they are developing.  However, it seems unlikely that Youtube music is coming anytime soon.  If you want to use your voice to control youtube music, the only way to do that now is to get a separate google voice speaker, which can then control your Sonos speakers.

As far as Google Assistant going being implimented on the more recent Sonos devices, I think there is a little bit of hope for that given Sonos recent change in management.  Maybe.  There is surely a licensing fee to consider, development costs, and that’s if the speakers have the right hardware.  Google also has a restriction that prevents a device from using GA and other voice assistants at the same time (which would mean no SVC).  Then we don’t know what the plans are for AI/Gemini...or I don’t atleast.
