After the November 18th Sonos update it appears that the Alexa/Sonos integration skills no longer work.  After disabling the skill in the Alexa app and then adding it back, Alexa cannot find any of my Sonos devices.  However, my Sonos devices from within the Sonos app work just fine.  It appears the API is having issues?

I’ve had the exact same issue. Tried disabling and enabling the Alexa skill. Removing voice on the Sonos side itself and adding it back in. Nothing worked

Over the weekend it randomly starting working again, then this morning broken.

Sonos support said everything is working on their end, and to call Amazon - lol for so many reasons!

Same issue here with the Symfonisk Bookshelf,

New Beam purchased.  Alexa voice control working.  It will no longer play BBC Radio or Amazon Music on any of my Sonos devices.  IF not fixed within a week, its going back…  Done all the steps of disabling skills, re-enabling, deleting Sonos app, reinstalling.

Log a support ticket with Sonos. If several customers are seeing the same thing, maybe they will take ownership to resolve this.

From Sonos support:
At this point, we had multiple reports on the same subject, and we are investigating the issue with Amazon. We do have some workarounds to follow, and if all fail, we hope it will be adjusted and fixed with the next App updates.

Hi. I have the same issue with my Roam 2

I have the same issue with my Beam Gen 1, Ray, and Arc.

I have had same issue in recent days.  My symptoms:

Me: Alexa, Play xxx.  Alexa: Playing xxx on Sonos. Sorry, something went wrong.

Me: Disable and re-enable Alexa Sonos skill.

Me: Alexa, Play xxx.  Alexa: Playing xxx on Sonos. sNothing happens.]

Also, as of this AM, I cannot play all content with the Android app.  For example, I can play Sirius XM, but not Pandora.  However, everything works from the Windows PC app.

There are multiple threads with multiple people having the same symptoms, yet all is well according to Sonos: https://status.sonos.com

Still having the issue despite the service status page says the opposite, Alexa keeps telling me the device is offline (can stream fine with the Apple Music app to the Symfoniks), anyone from Sonos Support here could give us any update on the real status? Thanks!

Following…

Same here

Same. Alexa will respond to anything but play music. Whenever I say “Alexa, play y…]”, the response I get is “Hmm, to do that, first enable…”. Everything’s enabled!

I have followed every possible troubleshooting option I’ve found online, including the nuclear option of resetting everything. NOTHING worked.

Extremely disappointing. Better get this fixed soon, it’s not rocket science.

Same issue (among many others that customer service cannot solve). They set up calls and then don’t even show up, wasting tons of my time on my days off.

I feel like the customer support is just designed to wear us down until we have suffered enough to throw the devices in the trash and buy Bose or JBL.

Same issue here

Same issue here - Alexa skill is unable to see any Sonos speakers

Same here, Alexa skill cant find my sonos AMP. Damn this is sad. Ah Google assistant also can’t find it. However my home assistant does find it for some reason ...

Likewise, all Alexa commands to the Sonos system have stopped working despite resetting the skill and re-adding Alexa to speakers. Can someone in support address this problem.

"Take convenience to the next level with Alexa integration! Control your devices, get updates, and simplify your life hands-free. 🔊✨"

The Alexa skill no longer works.  The feedback there has dozens of entries since mid-November stating it stopped working.

Will someone from Sonos give us daily updates on this please?

Same issue here. Sonos please sort this!

Plus one on this - would appreciate some better communication and a timeline to resolution...

Starting to think we won’t have the integration back…

After only two weeks? Come on, give Sonos (or Amazon) some time!

Same issue. Tried sonos support - a complete waste of an hour.

Tried:-

  1. Disabling/enabling Sonos Alexa Skill
  2. Unpairing Sonos speaker from Alexa group, when attempting to add I get the error message within the Alexa app “Setup Failed. The server isn’t responding”.
  3. Tried deleting sonos speaker from Alexa app and adding, but it can not find any speakers.

Hard to pinpoint the fault as I don’t fully understand the relationship between Alexa devices and Sonos speakers. However, after all the issues I’ve had with Sonos, I’m included to believe they have changed something without considering the implications on the Sonos Alexa Skill. Last update on 18th November, and reading Amazon reviews of the Sonos Skill, 24th November saw a large volume of people complaining about the same thing.

Either way, its getting really boring spending days thinking its my setup, rebooting, adding/removing..etc. speaking with Sonos support who in my case, were awful (didn’t even know about the Alexa Skill), then finding out its actually a back-end issue.

I would far prefer a simple notification or update on a status page - we are aware of an issue with integration between sonos and alexa, please bear with us while we investigate...etc. So I’d not waste my time attempting to troubleshoot the issue (and potentially make matters worse).
