I won a Sonos Play-5 at an event at an electronics store. It is new in the box. I listed it on a local marketplace, thinking it was a Play-5 1 due to the picture on the box. A guy wants to buy it and asked me for the serial number, which I gave him. I believe he thinks it is a later model. The serial number begins with 1504. Is this a Generation 1? He told me he bought a Gen 1 from someone else and it did not mesh with the system he has. I don’t know anything about these speakers!

Hi, I have beam 2 for few weeks, today the volume suddenly went up without any reason.I deleted the app thought maybe it related to the phone volume but it happend again.it happend twice.why is that?   

My Sonos system currently consists of: 1 Ray, 4 Play 1,s, & 1 Roam. I also use Sonos net via a Sonos Boost. All speakers are connected to the network wirelessly. I do not have WiFi 6. I would like to add 2 Era 100,s to use as rears for the Ray. Is this a simple plug-in and play addition to my current setup, as it is? Or do I have to disable the Boost? As I’ve read that the Era’s do not connect to a Boost. Also is my lack of WiFi 6 going to be an issue? I welcome any advice the community may be able to offer, many thanks.

Hello - I am planning to replace a 15 year old TV and “conventional” HDMI receiver-based 5.1 surround sound system that uses individual wired speakers and a subwoofer.  To reduce the footprint, I am considering a Sonos-based solution, specifically the Arc to provide the front channels, the Amp to power a pair of existing in-ceiling surround speakers and the Sub for bass.I have the following questions regarding this configuration: As I understand the connections, only the Arc would connect to TV via the eARC HDMI port and the Arc, Amp and Sub would all be connected to our home network - is this correct? We have an ethernet connection at the location of our media cabinet - would it be advantageous to connect the Sonos components with wired connections to reduce the load on our Wifi network and minimize the chances for audio “glitches”? I have ONE SL, ONE A100, and Beam Soundbar A100. Just recently changed ISP and router to Vodafone which has the latest WiFi 6E.Beam has connected to wifi but both ONEs do not.Have tried going through the setup routine several times. Something is happening because the lights on the units change to red then flashing white then solid white, but always fails (says try again later).Have also tried the update wifi procedure but that also fails.

Sonos Technical say my Vodafone router is incompatible with my Sonos system. I had the same problem with Virgin Media router. Anyone else with a 1000 pounds of kit useless.what can I do? 

When I use the sonos app I can choose for TuneIn radio and spotify. The music of choice will be played. But when I use Google home assistent, the voice (over the sonos app) tells me that spotify or tunein will be started but no sound will follow.I tried all the steps in this topic: What can I do to resolve this problem?

Hello,My Sonos system includes 3 Sonos One and a Sonos Move. Until recently I’ve been able to stream Apple Music using Alexa with no issues on all speakers. However, a couple of months ago the Sonos Move started to say that I needed an Apple Music account to stream music (which I obviously already have signed in). Meanwhile, all of the other speakers are working exactly as they should with Apple Music. I have tried factory resetting the Move, signing out of Apple Music in the Alexa App, deactivating it in the Sonos App, and every other possible solution I can find online. But it always comes back with the same message, and the other speakers always start to work just as they should. If I use the Sonos Voice Assistant, Apple Music works just fine on the Move, but it’s so limited in what it can do that I’d much rather use Alexa. I haven’t been able to find anyone else with the same issue on this or other forums, so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,I have the following setup and problems with my Sonos Port: If I play music through Spotify connect on the Sonos port, then the music keeps dropping every couple of minutes (what I mean is: the speaker is silent and the port disappears from the S2 app. After about 30-45 seconds the music continues). If I play music through Airplay 2, then its uninterrupted. So, I've been trying to listen to the Whispering Solo Piano Radio custom stream on my Sonos Roam.The custom screen pulls song by song from a server, as opposed to being a full live stream. It's only available via an Alexa skill.After anywhere between 5 minutes and 45 minutes the music stops. I don't have problems using the skill on my cell phone, or the cell phone app with a custom stream. The network does not seem to be the issue. Bandwidth and latency both seem fine... As well the other devices are on the same network and work fine. The Whispering support has been extremely receptive, but is not been able to figure out what's going on. I seem to be the only person reporting this issue. ​​​​​​Since I've no way of isolating Alexa, versus any other part of the process considering that's the only way it can play it on the speaker, I was wondering if Alexa is involved in any of the song by song file pulls... And if so is there some way of troubleshooting this? Thank you

I live in Japan and my iphone is set up using English.Since I use Amazon Prime Japan, I tried to use Amazon Music. The Sonos app will only take me to Amazon Music USA. Since Amazon Prime Japan membership is not valid for Amazon Prime US, I cannot complete the setup. Is there a way around this?  

Hi, I have a Mac that connects to Sonos Ray speaker over optical cable.But when I finish playing a music over AirPlay from my phone, I cannot get my Mac to play sound through the optical input.Is there a way to control the sound input of the Speaker between AirPlay and Optical Input?  

I feel if it was possible I would have found it somewhere. Just making sure nobody is sitting on a secret trick. Not looking for the airplay output option in top right control center. That only works with apps specifically designed to use airplay audio.  Thank you.  

Hello… I’m about to receive a pair of Fives to replace my Play 1s (also have Sub and Playbar). We listen to music as well as watch movies with this system and my questions are:  If I set the Fives as Surrounds, do they “have” to be positioned vertically AND when not watching movies, will music sound as good in Surround mode as it would as Stereo Pairs?

I recently purchased 10 Sonos Five, 10 Sonos Subs, one Port, and one Boost to configure as a multi-room setup and PA system. However, I am encountering connection errors whenever I try to group all the speakers or play audio through them. I often need to try 2-3 times before I can successfully connect all the speakers. Additionally, when trying to change tracks through the Sonos app, it takes a while to update or sometimes doesn't change at all, requiring me to try again later. I have connected the Port, Boost, and one Five speaker directly to the LAN. Changing track thru Spotify app is smooth. Can you please assist me in fixing this issue?

I have four brand new amps. They all are detected on the app but none of them connect. Keeps saying “Connect Amp to Power” which it is of course. I’ve rebooted, reset and replugged all devices including Wi-Fi router—nada.  help!

I thought I understood this, but clearly not. I was watching the Miami F1 GP on Apple TV, Sonos app reports PCM 2.0 (as expected from the F1TV app), on my Playbar+P3s system, and I was clearly getting engine sounds and other ambient noises from the rears (though not the commentary which was from the front). I’m not complaining, but how does this work for a PCM 2.0 signal?

I have two Play 5 (GEN 2) set up as a stereo pair sitting on Atacama Moseco 6 speaker stands. Up until now, I’ve been very happy with the sound with no need to use trueplay or the equalizer. The other week, I thought I would test trueplay after reading many reviews to see if it actually made any difference. The result wasn’t to my liking so I disabled this setting but now find the sound lacks any oomph or character. The wife even noticed the difference describing it as ‘insipid’.To get close to the fulsome sound I have been used to, I am now using the loudness setting but dialling down the treble setting. Not sure if this has anything to do with the latest software update, I’ve seen a few posts on similar themed issues. Thinking of doing a factory reset but wanted to post in case anyone has any other suggestions?     

How to use the Era 300 for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos QC

Surround Sound newby here! I am a composer/producer and want to use the Arc and Era 300s setup for a surround sound music experience.  I read that Sonos Era 300s will only play Dolby Atmos tracks via Apple Server.  If I mix my tracks in Dolby Atmos, can I not just connect to the speakers via Bluetooth and play the exported Dolby Atmos .wav track sent from an iPod or PC?

I have just rebuilt my whole iTunes library. Every number has its own artist, which also has his own folder in the music library. I have NO folder with the name “Various Artists”. However, when I open the SONOS app to the artists list, I see all artist neatly listed but ay the end of that list (under “V”) I see an artist with the name “Various Artists”. When I then click on that, I get a list of collection albums which in turn holds e specific number.NONE of these music numbers is tagged as being part of a collection.E.g: Parel Williams with the number “Happy” shows in my iTunes library as a folder “Pharrell Williams”, which hold the music file “Happy”. Sones shows this item ONLY under the artist Various Artists and (when I click on that) the album “Despicable me”. This album is not flagged as a compilation.Where do I go wrong?
