Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have a Sonos Beam and a Ring doorbell. I have installed the Alexa skill so that when the bell rings, an announcement comes over an echo device I have but not the Beam. I am guessing that the Beam does not support that particular skill, or am I being unduly pessimistic?

I set up the Sonos One two weeks ago and it connected fine to our existing Sonos system. Alexa voice was also working well. The Sonos One was unplugged for several days, and when I started it back up, Alexa did not respond, It appears that the voice services in the Sonos and Alexa apps on my Android phone are active. The system plays music just fine via the Sonos app. Any ideas on what might be wrong? Thank you in advance... SDK

I have a fire TV (which I use as my family room Alexa) on Input 2 of my TV. My sonos is connected to the fire TV and works fine when on input 2. When I am watching cable (Input 1) and ask Alexa a question I get no sound at all but Alexa is responding. Is there any way to fix this?

For 2 days now if we ask alexa for a specific song it plays and then it stops, before, after the originally requested track playback would continue buf not anymore. The twitter team is not able to help us resolve the situation. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?? Thanks.

How can I get Alexa to play My Music Library (using the Bridge to my NAS drive) onto my Sonos speakers

Hi. I can’t get Alexa to work on my Sonos One speakers because I can’t enable the microphone. I have added the skill in the Alexa app but in the same app it says that the speakers are offline. I can’t toggle on and off the microphone on the speakers either.    When I first got them, it all set up fine but I stupidly moved one over Christmas to use at friend’s house. Big mistake. I’ve tried resetting completely but no luck.    Can anyone help?    Thanks

Whenever I have my house cleaned, inevitably the cleaning people have diligently dusted the tops of all my Sonos One & Beam speakers, thus disabling the microphone on one or more of them (despite repeated requests for them to not dust these). When I get home I start making Alexa requests but of course there's no answer. I have to run around the house & manually check each microphone button. I'd like to be able to DISABLE the microphone on/off button entirely from within the app settings, to prevent people from accidentally turning off the microphone. There's already a "Speaker Touch Controls" enable/disable setting - but alas, this doesn't seem to affect the microphone on/off button. Could this functionality please be added? Thanks!

Hello all   ive just purchased a Sonos beam and 2xones gen 2 speakers. I already have Alexa working away.    ive now setup the Sonos as surround system and it’s working great.    I decided to add Alexa to the Sonos.    it’s seems to add with no issues, everything is enabled and looks like it should work.    I get the initial Alexa voice warning and it states Alexa is working on the Sonos beam    the beam works with Alexa voice commands and also I can turn it on or off with a swipe of a finger  HERES THE PROBLEM GUYS   The 2 rear speakers don’t work at all with Alexa. They work perfectly with Sonos surround and the Sonos app but the little White microphone on the speakers doesn’t light up and can’t be swiped left or right. It’s permanently off and doesn’t respond.  in the Alexa app it’s enabled and can see the Sonos and I’ve added the Alexa via the Sonos app and all seems well apart from the rear speakers.    any help is really appreciated. Hi does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the sonos alexa bing sound after a command has been executed?   I have had to turn off alexa on my sonos beam in my bedroom as the post command bing is very loud and wakes everyone up.   thanks kevin

So I took SONOS up on their 30% off upgrade offer, bricked 4 devices and added two Beams and 4 more SONOS One 2nd Gen speakers.  I already had 2 SONOS One 1st Gen speakers.  Now Alexa won’t play Pandora upon request.  I ask, “Alexa, play Enya radio on Pandora” and I get the response “Enya radio on Pandora”.  But nothing happens.  I discovered if I state immediately after the response, “Alexa, play” then the music will actually start playing.  Yes, it’s a work around, but still annoying since the system worked perfectly before my expensive upgrade to the latest technology to make SONOS happy.  I’ve deleted the Pandora skill and re-added it … restarted everything … nothing helps.

Hi there, I've been using Alexa on my beam for months with only a few issues. The main issue is sometimes it stops responding to voice until I go into the Sonos app and I remove Alexa voice service in room settings and then just re-add it. That has always fixed it in the past, in a few seconds. A bit annoying, but only every month or two. Tonight, same issue, so I removed Alexa and went to add again. However, it won't add tonight. I've tried from three different devices. As soon as I press to sign into Amazon, it pauses for a second and then says there was a problem adding Alexa, it doesn't take me to the Amazon login page at all. I've tried restarting, deleting the skill in the Alexa app, deregistering the device from Amazon etc. Otherwise it's working fine as a speaker and TV bar. Even works for streaming when I ask an Amazon echo to play music on it. Just won't enable Alexa its self. Any one else have this. Wondering if server side as was working fine. Any ideas? Hi,  I’m new to Sonos and to the forum.  I set up my Sonos One this morning with Alexa.  It’s working, but every time I ask for a song, Alexa repeats the the name of the song and the singer. Annoying.  I discovered the command that is supposed to put and end to this is, “Alexa, turn off song ID.”  When I say the command, Alexa acknowledges my request but then continues to announce the song and singer.  Is the problem that this command is not implemented with Sonos? Is there a workaround?  Using an alternative to Alexa for instance.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. R

If I request Alexa to play a song, Alexa will talk over the first few seconds of the song. Not a huge deal, obviously, but annoying all the same. I want to hear the song in its entirety, not with Alexa's voice talking over the beginning.

I want to make my sonos music library the default library for Alexa. Currently it is set to the Amazon Music Library. There are no 'sonos' options to change

Hi folks, I’d like to switch my stereo-paired Sonos One speakers OFF of the Wi-Fi connection and onto a wired ethernet connection.  I have read the helpful posts here on HOW to do that, but the WiFi connection is always “in use” and therefore cannot be removed. But I’ve come to believe that maybe it is always in use, because (perhaps?) the Alexa feature REQUIRES only WiFi connections….can anyone confirm that?  Or has anyone successfully set up an Alexa-enabled steros pair of Sonos Ones directly over ethernet? [PS: I realize that an ethernet connection just sets up a hidden/dedicated WiFi network just for SONOS.]  Thanks, -Bill-

Hi there  I just bought a sonos play one  I have multiple Alexa devices at home, they are in multiple groups  If i add the Sonos to any of my groups and play music to that group it comes out of only the Sonos    How do i resolve this so i can play music out of all speakers in the group  Speakers are Alexa’s alexa dots and Sonos one Gen 2 speakers    I simply need to play music to all speakers    Thanks   

I’ve just bought two Sonos Ones (2nd gen) and am trying to get Alexa to stream different music from Spotify to both. The setup: Sonos Ones A and B Amazon accounts C and D Spotify premium family with accounts E and F Alexa default music service set to Spotify for both Sonos One A is set up to use Alexa via Amazon account C, which is linked to Spotify account E in the Alexa app. B uses Alexa via D linked to Spotify F. In other words, each One is linked to a separate Amazon account which is linked to a separate Spotify account. At the moment when I ask A to play something it works fine, but when I ask B to play something it starts playing but A stops. Both Spotify accounts are in the Sonos app. The two Amazon accounts are in a household if that makes any difference. The Alexa configuration seems to be working fine since I can see the expected voice history in each of C and D. In the Amazon Alexa app > Devices tab, when I select one of my Sonos speakers and access the Device Settings screen, I am unable to change the name of my Sonos device using the 'Edit Name' option. I can change the text, but when I click 'Done' the name reverts back to the default name of 'Thomas's Sonos One Second Edition'.

Hi All I’ve got various Sonos speakers around the house, and use a combination of the Spotify App (on PC, iOS, and Kindles) and Sonos App (on PC and iOS, for better control of volume, grouping, EQ etc). I always play from the Spotify App, and use Kindles around the house, so that I can see album art, skip tracks, add to playlists, hit the like button etc. These can also be used to change the playlist / radio. I’ve just got an Echo Show 8, thinking it (being Amazon) could be used to behave like the Kindles, but in a more robust desktop unit (ie an integrated unit not needing a separate stand, power cable sticking out the top etc). I’ve got Spotify up and running on it, but whenever it kicks in, it takes over the track that was playing on Sonos, but plays it just to the local Echo. While I get it, that’s not what I was wanting to do, and there doesn't seem to be a method of selecting a different device (eg Sonos). I have succesfully set up the Beam some months ago and could play Amazon Music through, however recently I noticed when I ask music to be streamed Alexa responds, but no music is actually played.  The Beam works correctly along with the Sub when being used as a Home Theatre.   And yes I have an Amazon subscription via Prime.

Hi, i've 4 echo dot and 2 sonos one, there is a way to add my sonos in the alexa multi room? I have a speaker group into alexa app, but i can't add sonos. thanks

In September 2018 Amazon released the AVS Device SDK that allows Alexa enabled 3rd party speakers to use Alexa Multiroom Music (MRM). This means Amazon now supports music played from Echo speakers and 3rd party speakers at the same time. Does Sonos plan to update their Alexa enabled speakers (One, Beam) to allow Alexa multi-room music?

Connected my Beam to my Samsung TV ARC port. Volume control is working, but can't get Alexa to turn on or off my TV. She says "Sorry TV is not responding". Any idea?

So, just given my Daughter a Sonos One for her bed room to add to the other Sonos devices around the house.   Prior to this, all Sonos devices, Alexa and Apple Music accounts in the house were all mine.   But she has her Apple Music playlist and stuff on her iPhone… so she needs to use her Apple Music account….. so far so good!   Register Sonos One to MY account  Add My Daughter’s Apple Music account to Sonos she can now use the Sonos app with her Apple Music profile   But I can’t figure out the next step of linking her Alexa account AND her Apple Music to the Sonos One.   From what I can find on the web talks about linking an Echo device to a child’s Amazon account but the options for this does not seem to be available in the Alexa App so I can’t then add her Apple account to Alexa   Any ideas how to manage different users within the same house and multiple Apple Music accounts?   I would be OK for her to have my Alexa account on the Sonos One, but really need her Apple Music to be o
