Voice control and smart home

I have groups setup in Alexa per the instructions. Currently though it seems like it just plays to whatever speaker or group was last controlled instead of the specified group. Alexa says it is saying what I said to do, but doesn’t actually play to the expanded or reduced set of speakers, just changes what some speaker/group is playing. My understanding is that regrouping speakers isn’t supported with Alexa, but that playing TO a group is supposed to be.   

All of my Sonos speakers recently starting asking for an Airplay password even though I have the password requirement disabled in Apple’s home app. I have not been able to figure out how to disable the password prompt and can no longer use Airplay.Anyone know how to fix?

My Sonos system has started having issues when playing Spotify through Alexa. My phone will play via Alexa ad my sonos system will play Spotify when I manually play it. To make it worse one speaker seems to be worse than the other.I get the response "I'm sorry I'm having difficulty with that music.". This is an Alexa response.

I'm using a third party music service in which I use an Alexa skill to control. Third party music service is serving up files for my file server. After a while, the music always stops. This doesn't happen to  streaming services. At this point, support for that service has run out of things to check.  Any ideas where to start?  Ping looks fine and I've got plenty of bandwidth. Ipconfig on the speaker, does show dropped packets.Using a Roam on 5gHz wifi.

I have 6 Sonos speakers (mostly one’s) and Alexa is seeing all but one of them. Help!  

Hi all!I have just purchased a pair of One SL’s which I plan to put in stereo in the room named stereo. Since I own a One Gen2 allready can I say Hey Sonos play “something” in stereo? Do I have to group the SL’s and One Gen2 first?Thank youNeven

I would really love to see voice control for more settings like Bass/ Treble/ & Sub Volume.  Example-“Hey Sonos, set bass to -4””Hey Sonos, set sub volume to -2”Also it would be cool if you had different options for the increments raising and lowering those settings. For example, instead of just Volume percentage, also add a 0 through 10 scale like the Alexa voice control has. Less spoken words equals easier voice control, e.g., Alexa, set volume to 5.  Would anyone else love to see these features added?

Hi EveryoneI have Alexa enabled on my SONOS One to control Spotify.I have just purchased an Amazon Smart Plug, with the intention to control the plug via the SONOS One. From reading the forums it seems I need to enable a skill within the Alexa app, but which skill is it? Or is this wrong, and do I need to do something else? OneThanks :) 🙏

Getting an error when setting up any of the three voice assistants in the Sonos app. More details below:I’ve used Sonos One and Alexa since 2019 with very little issue I’m using the same router too, however in the last couple of weeks Amazon Alexa has sporadically lost connection and required setting up again. This has typically only taken a few minutes and it goes back to normal for a few days. However, this happened again and went to set up Alexa up via the prompts on the Sonos app however I’m get an error now and get the same error when trying to set up any of the three voice assistants, Alexa, Google and SVC. I’ve done a factory reset, rebooted router, checked for duplicate IP addresses, signed out of all Amazon accounts on my mobile device, removed skill, deregistered devices and gone through set up multiple times but still no luck with any of the voice assistants. I click on Amazon Alexa set up, it says Getting Amazon Alexa ready...then seems to time out and says There was a prob

Hi guys, A year ago when I moved, I fulfilled myself a long-held dream and got a Sonos multiroom sound system that I am really happy with. Also, this flat has a smart home system that, using KNX, operates everything from heating and light to sun blinds. To control it I can use wall switches or a very simple app. Since I have Sonos microphones in every room, I asked a technician if it’s possible to somehow make use of those mics to control the KNX smart home via voice commands using my Sonos speakers. He was under the impression that the “RealKNX Air Server” would achieve this, however I was informed they are only able to control Sonos speakers for sound output, not the other way around as voice command input for the smart home system (which is ironic since Sonos bought RealKNX in 2019 and now feature their offline voice assistant Snips as “Sonos Voice Control”). I have 2 sonos roams and they have both lost connection with Alex so I'm unable to control by voice 

HiI cant get bbc sounds to play on my various sonos speakers when i use Alexa. I have it set up as a skill but when i ask Alexa to play Radio 6,  it says on my speakers , playing Radio 6 on bbc sounds but it dosnt play anything.  All was working before untill i bought a ring doorbell  Would be grateful for any help  Thanks

About 2 weeks ago our Sonos Move that we have been using with no problem for 2 years suddenly stopped executing Alexa commands. It would repeat the command but do nothing. I updated all the apps on my Apple phone, reset the Move, removed and re-added the Sonos and Alexa voice services. Now instead of not doing anything, it decides what it wants to do. Sometimes it works fine. Other times we have to pause it before it will follow a command. Other times it just does nothing. Any thoughts?

I know how to change the input for my Beam to TV with Alexa, and how to use the Sonos app to group it with other speakers so that input can be played elsewhere. I haven’t figured out how to use Alexa to get that TV input shared with other speakers though. Any pointers?

I had a problem with Google Assistant on my Sonos One and Beam. I was unable to play Pandora Music on my Sonos by saying ‘Hey Google….’.  My Sonos App was working and if I used the App, I could play my music.  However, If I said, ‘Hey Google, Play Beatles Radio on Pandora’, the reply would be, ‘Sure, Playing Beatles Radio on Pandora’.  This was immediately followed by, ‘Sorry, Something Went Wrong’.  Previously, I had no issues.  Now, every time I tried, I got the same reply.  So, I did the following:Restart Google Wi-Fi NetworkFactory reset of Google Wi-Fi NetworkRe-installed all of my Sonos productsRe-installed Google Assistant on my Sonos productsI repeated the following several times over a period of 2 weeks.I contacted the Chat function of Sonos and they had me uninstall and reinstall Google Assistant.  Google Assistant worked fine, with the exception of the request to play Music. I have a housefull of Sonos products and even more Amazon Echo products, including an Echo Flex, the speakerless Echo device that one can use to hook up to anything with an RCA or mini plug input.I want to plug it into my S2 amp which is connected to passive speakers so that I can have the convenience of saying “Alexa play music everywhere” or “Alexa play music on Sonos amp”.I’ve got the Flex plugged in and added to the ‘everywhere’ group in Alexa and have set the S2 amp to Line in but get no music through my Sonos S2 connected speakers.  It plays everywhere else in the house through all of the Echo devices, so I need some help here.  Thought I’d come here first before I engaged Sonos tech support.

We used to have Echo devices for home automation but when Sonos came out with voice control on their speakers I got rid of the Echos and put Sonos speakers throughout and used Alexa.  The only feature I miss is the “Drop In” feature from Alexa that is not available on Sonos.  We then switched to GA since it at least has the “Broadcast” feature.  I know you can use the Intercom app on your phone but that is not as easy as using a voice assistant especially with kids who dont have phones.  I was hoping the new Sonos Voice would include something like this.  What is the proper way to submit a feature request?  I see several “Feature Request” posts scattered throughout the forums but didnt know if Sonos had any other official way to request things.  I would like to use Sonos Voice but since it can’t be used with GA in order to keep using Broadcast it’s not really an option at this point.  I did play around with it this morning and it seems to work really well for the music side.  If they a

I have Sonos not play sound when asking Alexa to play music. She says “ok playing on Sonos” but no sound comes out. I first checked to make sure I had the right speakers in the living room set. Next, I reenabled the Sonos skill and the Apple music skills. I double-checked my Apple Music acct is correct for both the Sonos app and Alex app. These are all great things I found on these forms by searching. I am out of options.  alex will work with the play one and play music but when I turn that off and use my dedicated Alex device she no longer plays music. I did upgrade to a new router system but didn’t change any specs in the process. 

Hello everyone,I’ve received my Sonos One (Gen 2) yesterday, and overall I’m happy with the product. There’s just an issue I’m having when asking Google to play a radio station (in the Netherlands). I’ll post my findings and my current solution/workaround below.When asking “Hey Google, speel Qmusic” I get the response “Ok, ik speel Qmusic op TuneIn”. All good you’d say. Next I hear TuneIn starting, but then it starts playing an American radio station. The same problem occurs with any other Dutch radio station.Findings:1) Contact with support didn’t help much, but they confirmed it’s an ongoing issue between Google and Sonos. Lately it was working, but reports have started coming in since beginning of June about this specific issue. 2) All my locations in Sonos, Google Assistant and my Phone are set to the Netherlands. So the systems should know I’d like a Dutch radio station. 3) Qmusic has a FM frequency of 100,7 in the Netherlands. The radio station I hear is ‘Life 100,7’ in America.

Hi, I have been trying to set up Alexa on my Sonos Roam (since Google Assistant could never discover my device, which is a whole separate issue), to play Spotify but whenever I tell Alexa to play Spotify, it says I have to enable the skill in the Alexa app, which I have already done.Spotify is set up in the Alexa app as well as default music service, and in the Sonos Mobile App as music service, both are set up with the same Spotify Premium account. No matter what I do, Alexa can’t find the spotify skill for some reason. I say “Alexa, Play Spotify” and it says “To do that, enable the skill for the Sonos Roam in your Alexa App, then ask me to discover devices.” The Sonos Skill is enabled, and there are no devices to be discovered when I ask it to. I’m so very lost, do I need to contact Amazon since this is an issue with Alexa? Or can this be solved here?

Hi I recently purchased a Sonos Roam, enabled Alexa and am trying to use it alongside my existing Echo devices. One issue I ran into was that I wasn’t able to use the Global Player skill from within Alexa e.g. Alexa, play Smooth UK - it starts trying to play the station but get a message saying there is a problem listening to the music.I managed to fix it by saying Alexa, ask Global Player to turn off HD Radio.This works but the sound quality isn’t as good as when I play the station directly from within the Sonos app, plus I have to disable HD radio for all my other Echo devices too. The difference is slight but is noticeable especially around bass notes when playing classical music. I bought the Sonos device for it’s superior audio so am a little annoyed I have to dial it down to make it work.Can someone help me understand if this is a bug that might be fixed or intentional, maybe to protect Sonos HD Radio which is a premium subscription?Tim.  

I listen to radio A or I listened to radio A the day before, I ask SVC for radio B, answer "ok good choice" but Sonos remains on radio A, I ask for radio B again, answer "ok..." and it's radio B finally.Sonos Roam 15.9Thanks

I know this has been requested in the past, but I would love to see Sonos add a separate level control for Alexa’s voice that is independent from the main speaker volume. At my normal music listening volume, Alexa is way too loud. Because of this, I have disabled the microphone on most of my Sonos speakers and use Echo devices for smart home control instead.
