Voice control and smart home

In the last couple of months I’ve had a really annoying issue with a Play 3 speaker when using Alexa. I have an L shaped kitchen with a Sonos 1 and 1SL stereo pair (called Dining Room) and a Play 3 (Playroom). These speakers are in an Alexa group called Kitchen and until recently this setup worked well. A couple of months ago sound stopped playing from the Play 3 when requested via Alexa (Alexa play music in the kitchen), I can see the speakers are grouped in Sonos app and the app thinks it is playing, but sound can only be heard on the One / One SL pair. Removing and readding the play 3 doesn’t resolve.Playback is fine via the Sonos app and playing music from Alexa just to the Play 3 also works fine, issue is only present when playing in the group.  I’ve tried recreating the group in the Alexa app, resetting and renaming the Sonos speaker and nothing is fixing it. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to fix it?

Hi,I have sound system Symfonisk from Ikea and i cant link ot to Alexa. In the Alexa app Sonos does not appear at all in the list of available skills. I have spent hour with customer service from both Amazon and Sonos but nothing seems to be working.They even sent me a link directly to the skill but when I open it, it says that “skill not available due to geographical restrictions” (I am based in Belgium)Can someone please help me!? There must be a way to fix it and frankly I don’t know why it would not be possible in Belgium.I’ll add that already tried changing location to US on the device, Alexa and Amazong account.

This has only started happening recently where I ask Alexa to play a certain radio station or stations from tune in and her prompt is “sorry I am having trouble playing the music “. I’ve updated Sonos and the app . I’ve reset my network setting . I’ve reset the speaker . I’ve updated  Amazon Alexa . Still not working . Not sure what else to do . 

Greetings Sonos Tech Support,I feel I lost a few hours of my life troubleshooting sonos and this is making me want to sell all my sonos gear.  It shouldn’t be rocket science and Sonos should provide the tools or better GUI to understand where the problem relies because at the end we are using sonos to activate Alexa. I have over 15+ sonos devices, they are all connected to my router, they get allocated via DHCP ( I don’t want to reserve an ip address for each sonos devices), they have been working fine for over 7 years and all of a sudden nothing works. My problem is Alexa voice stopped working, i removed it and tried to re-add it and I get the “There was a problem adding Alexa”  I am at a point to consider install alexa puck in each room, not ideal but getting tired to troubleshooting for something that shouldn’t be too hard.  I don’t want to call sonos support, can you please share the tools to be self-serve, put a big disclosure for extremely advanced

i have an issue with some commands google assistant used on a sonos one, the problem started a one of weeks ago, I cannot anymore use simple commands as “stop playing, turn up the volume etc. Other commands like to start playing works fine, also shift to the next track and more. When I try to use some of the not working commands google responds following, “unable to precess commands for code” Please advice,  ThanksC

Works fine for Amazon music but I’d prefer YouTube so I can also get their videos. Is there any way around Amazon’s lack of support for using YouTube as a music source when asking Alexa to play certain music on Sonos? Thanks

Currently, I have all my office equipment (monitor, lights, computer, etc) connected to a single Philips Hue Smart Plug. I have a Google Home speaker that is linked with the Philips Hue plug via bluetooth. I can give my Google speaker commands like “Turn on the office” or “Turn off the office” and it will turn the plug on or off. It works great.The Google Home speaker is not great in terms of audio quality and I would like to replace it with a SONOS speaker to match all the other SONOS speakers I have around the house.Will any SONOS speaker be able to control my Philips Smart Plug using a voice assistant? Keep in mind that I do not have a Philips Hue Bridge, so the speaker needs to have the ability to connect via bluetooth.

I just factory reset my two Sonos 1 speakers. I installed Alexa on one of them, and Sonos voice control on the other. For the one with Sonos voice control, I don’t want it to play Alexa music when the other speaker is doing so - but they always both seem to play the music when Alexa is triggered, even though she is not on the second speaker.When I go into the app and look at that speaker, Alexa is not installed as a voice control, only Sonos is. Yet it still plays. How can I fix this?

Alexa does not appear to be working through my system. (Beam). How to reset?

GA shuffles Spotify playlists just fine when playing on its own speaker. Send it to Sonos and it plays in sequential order with shuffle mode off every time. So Sonos, what are we supposed to do to make this extremely common use case work?

I have groups setup in Alexa per the instructions. Currently though it seems like it just plays to whatever speaker or group was last controlled instead of the specified group. Alexa says it is saying what I said to do, but doesn’t actually play to the expanded or reduced set of speakers, just changes what some speaker/group is playing. My understanding is that regrouping speakers isn’t supported with Alexa, but that playing TO a group is supposed to be.   

All of my Sonos speakers recently starting asking for an Airplay password even though I have the password requirement disabled in Apple’s home app. I have not been able to figure out how to disable the password prompt and can no longer use Airplay.Anyone know how to fix?

My Sonos system has started having issues when playing Spotify through Alexa. My phone will play via Alexa ad my sonos system will play Spotify when I manually play it. To make it worse one speaker seems to be worse than the other.I get the response "I'm sorry I'm having difficulty with that music.". This is an Alexa response.

I'm using a third party music service in which I use an Alexa skill to control. Third party music service is serving up files for my file server. After a while, the music always stops. This doesn't happen to  streaming services. At this point, support for that service has run out of things to check.  Any ideas where to start?  Ping looks fine and I've got plenty of bandwidth. Ipconfig on the speaker, does show dropped packets.Using a Roam on 5gHz wifi.

I have 6 Sonos speakers (mostly one’s) and Alexa is seeing all but one of them. Help!  

Hi all!I have just purchased a pair of One SL’s which I plan to put in stereo in the room named stereo. Since I own a One Gen2 allready can I say Hey Sonos play “something” in stereo? Do I have to group the SL’s and One Gen2 first?Thank youNeven

I would really love to see voice control for more settings like Bass/ Treble/ & Sub Volume.  Example-“Hey Sonos, set bass to -4””Hey Sonos, set sub volume to -2”Also it would be cool if you had different options for the increments raising and lowering those settings. For example, instead of just Volume percentage, also add a 0 through 10 scale like the Alexa voice control has. Less spoken words equals easier voice control, e.g., Alexa, set volume to 5.  Would anyone else love to see these features added?

Hi EveryoneI have Alexa enabled on my SONOS One to control Spotify.I have just purchased an Amazon Smart Plug, with the intention to control the plug via the SONOS One. From reading the forums it seems I need to enable a skill within the Alexa app, but which skill is it? Or is this wrong, and do I need to do something else? OneThanks :) 🙏

Getting an error when setting up any of the three voice assistants in the Sonos app. More details below:I’ve used Sonos One and Alexa since 2019 with very little issue I’m using the same router too, however in the last couple of weeks Amazon Alexa has sporadically lost connection and required setting up again. This has typically only taken a few minutes and it goes back to normal for a few days. However, this happened again and went to set up Alexa up via the prompts on the Sonos app however I’m get an error now and get the same error when trying to set up any of the three voice assistants, Alexa, Google and SVC. I’ve done a factory reset, rebooted router, checked for duplicate IP addresses, signed out of all Amazon accounts on my mobile device, removed skill, deregistered devices and gone through set up multiple times but still no luck with any of the voice assistants. I click on Amazon Alexa set up, it says Getting Amazon Alexa ready...then seems to time out a

Hi guys, A year ago when I moved, I fulfilled myself a long-held dream and got a Sonos multiroom sound system that I am really happy with. Also, this flat has a smart home system that, using KNX, operates everything from heating and light to sun blinds. To control it I can use wall switches or a very simple app. Since I have Sonos microphones in every room, I asked a technician if it’s possible to somehow make use of those mics to control the KNX smart home via voice commands using my Sonos speakers. He was under the impression that the “RealKNX Air Server” would achieve this, however I was informed they are only able to control Sonos speakers for sound output, not the other way around as voice command input for the smart home system (which is ironic since Sonos bought RealKNX in 2019 and now feature their offline voice assistant Snips as “Sonos Voice Control”).
