Advanced setups

hi, i have the sonos beam gen 2 and i would like to buy the sub mini and connect it to the soundbar, but i would also like to buy a sonos one with which i would listen to music, is it possible to share the sub with the two devices without having to unpair the sub mini every time? I don't care about the surround effect, I want 1 Sonos one, and used it with sub mini but also with beam 2, it is possible?

Ok so I changed the name of my wifi network and now my Beam won’tconnectI go through everything all up to the point where it asks for the wifi network password, then I get a message about there was a problem connecting.Things I’ve done:Deleted my app an reinstalled itForced my wifi to just send on the 2.4Ghz channelMade a seperate network just for the Sonos on 2.4GhzDone a hard reset on the beamThe same thing happensI get the PIN soundI push the connect button on the backI sets up my BeamAnd then it’s time for the password and just an error messageI’m at loss here 

Hi, I consider to connect a media player  “NewHank Playmate mediaspeler” to a Sonos stereo pair, this would allow me to connect CD player and a mic to that device. Would this setup work well?Thanks for your help. Kr Harald

I just moved to a new apartment and they use Xfinity internet service however the service is through the apartment complex through what Xfinity calls it “community wifi” and my boost will not connect to the internet here. Ive tried everything from app/system reset to purchasing a brand-new boost and it still won't connect. The Xfinity tech rep mentioned that they use IP 10 vs IP 192.168 which could be the reason why the device won't connect. Additionally, I tried wiring the boost through the ethernet in the wall, ethernet switch coming out of the modem, and finally the modem itself and no luck. At this point I have no clue as what it would be. Sonos tech said that it would be multitask issue from Xfinity or a firewall setting thoughts anyone?

HiAfter numerous attempts at Mesh Wi-Fi in my house I am finally giving in to hardwiring 5 access points in the hope that this will solve the remaining few issues I have with Sonos.I have been recommended these 2 units - Ruckus H320 and TP-Link EAP235.Ignoring price point, please can anyone share their experience of either or both in a Sonos / Wi-Fi context?The house is ~4,000 sq.ft. and has a significant ground floor extension perpendicular the the main house.Typically Sonos works fine right up until I deploy most of the downstairs speakers (13 of 17 speakers in the house) for gatherings and then multicast flooding kicks in and dropouts occur.The only other problem is with a stereo pair of Roams - the RH speaker refuses to switch on form an alarm though simply pressing the volume up button immediately brings it to life. Staring any other way always works for both speakers.Thanks in advance.KR Bob

Thanks for reading.I have a Sonos set-up in my house for about the past 4 years with no major issues after I figured out the initial stuff (with help from here).  My IP provider had to switch out our router in December.  Same service but new router.  I believe my problems started there.I have about 20 speakers in my set-up.  Some would show as available and others would not.   I think I’d have it figured it out only for them to all crash again.  Overall, about 8 speakers would show as not connected and the rabbit hole of using the Sonos “bring speakers back online” approach did nothing.  Endless loop. This weekend I decided to completely remove all the assigned IP addresses, unplug every device again, reboot the router, and plug each device in one by one.  I also re-assigned the fixed IP addresses and confirmed no duplicates or any issues there.   I still had some stray speakers that would not connect so I re-set them back to default and added them back in. That seemed to solve the pro

I have 5 Sonos devices, AMP, 2xPlay3, Playbar & Sub that all are on Sonosnet via a Boost. The boost is the only Sonos device connected to my wired managed switch (Juniper EX2200). All Sonos devices have static IP’s (reserved in DHCP).The switch has several VLANS but runs in L2 mode. These are the relevant ones for connectivity;192.168.1.x/24 - Wired Network192.168.4.x/24 - Wireless NetworkI have several other networks configured on my OPNsense firewall that connects to the switch. It acts as the router for the network and has a plugin to allow multicast called UDP broadcast relay. Hi,I’m looking to connect a record player (which has a built-in preamp) to my Sonos Beam and One SL’s. I heard that I could purchase a Sonos Port and connect the Port to my Beam via Wi-Fi to be able to play records over my sound system. Would this work?

I am running a Play 5 and OldConnect with S1, and a bunch of Ones, Play 1s, 3s and 5s Gen2, and Amp with S2.Time to time, I cannot connect to S2. It keeps me the option to connect to S1. After a couple of times restarting the App I can connect to S2. Some other times, I have disconnected the S1 device/s to able to connect. Also, after a router reboot, most of the  time I have to do disconnect the S1 devices to able to connect to S2. I have never had issues connecting to S1.  Also I have tried to connect using ethernet (PC), Wireless 2.4 and 5. Using Windows 10, 11, Samsung S20, and Iphone 13. Same issues in all of them.Network configuration:Asus Rt-AX89XS1 configurationPlay 5 wired connected to routerS2 Configuration:One wired to router, even it is configured for wireless. I had a Boost wired but it game more issues than the One. Hello,I am trying to connect my retroprojector with the sonos amp with wifi or bluetooth, but the sonos amp don’t seams to see the retroprojector.My retroprojector and Amp are both on the wifi but I can’t see it on the sonos app when k try to add a new systeme.when i plug the retroprojecteur with the HDMI cable, it works well, but the thing is that I need a realy long cable to put the retroprojector at the good spot.  I though it was possible to connect every device to the sonos amp by wifi or Bluetooth, but it doesnt seams to be the case.Any ideas ? Thank you !

Patio is about to start construction and need help setting up audio. I want to be able to hear music in the patio as well as near the fire pit which will be about 20 feet away. Also building a covered pavllion on the patio where I will be adding a tv as well. I’d like to hear the tv on all speakers if i wanted or if I wanted the pavillion to play whats on tv and the rest of the speakers to play music.  I think i would need two separate zones in order to acheive this.  I just purchased the sonance 6.1 garden series which comes with sonos amp.  I was thinking of getting mounted or in ceiling outdoor speakers for the pavillion so that would provide the audio for the tv and then connect them to another sonos amp.  Am i thinking this correctly? is there a more cost effective solution?  I am also thinking of keeping both amps outside in a covered enclosure and run ethernet cable outside to get direct internet connection vs wifi. For practising in a small room, am I able to connect my electric guitar to a Sonos Five via Line in? Will I need a pre-amp in-between? FYI - I currently have a turntable and a tape deck connection via RCA switcher to the Five..

I have a Port connected via ethernet, a One connected via WiFi and the port is feeding my main AV receiver via digital out. I control it all via my iPad and the Sonos app. The library is stored on a Drobo NAS connected via ethernet all on the same subnet, one router, one switch, all gigabit. When playing an album it will randomly pop up on the iPad “Unable to play xxxxx File not found” I can manually skip back to the missing track and it will immediately play. Is there a fix for this as its really making a mess out of my enjoyment now??

I updated my sonos system 2 days ago, since then, IKEA hub cannot see any of the speakers. All of them are offline. Can you please fix this?

Hi, I solve the problem with Sonos components disappearing from the wifi network mesh. To do so, I check in my main router “allow network device to autonomously create port forwarding via PCP or UPnP.”

Just successfully added two ERA 300s to my bedroom which had an ARC associated with a new Samsung TV and new Apple TV. Everything began marvelously.The rest of my home has wired and wireless Sonos products that are all compatible with Sonos 2.Then on playback of iTunes or Amazon selections I get skipping and “song is not encoded correctly” errors.Playback of Tunein radio stations is not interrupted on any of my Sonos devices.My WiFi coverage is excellent but I did try rebooting the router and the Boost. Still getting the same error messages.

I have a Sonos Arc, Sub, and 2 Play 1’s. Can I listen to Music differently and with only the 2 Play’s + Sub (2.1) instead of with all speakers including Arc 5.1?

I have looked at many threads on similar topics but none of them addressed my need. I am installing two outdoor speakers which will be connected to the Sonos Amp in my basement.  I then plan to have occasional TV viewing outside and I am looking for a way to have the TV audio play on the outdoor speakers.  I will not run a HDMI from the amp in the basement to the TV outside. I am looking for a wireless solution, is there a wireless HDMI that would pass the audio signal?  Wirelsss Bluetooth signal?    A less optimal solution, I have a roam that I could try to connect to the TV via Bluetooth and then group with the outdoor speakers? 

We have a ton of difficulty getting consistent audio to come out when using Apple AirPlay to play Apple Music through our all of our Sonos Speakers. We have 10 varietal (brand new) speakers and we use a Sonos Port to play audio through additional old hard-wired speakers using a regular Yamaha amp. When it’s working, it’s amazing!!Wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to listen uninterrupted. It goes off regularly now, even when I leave my phone stationary in the kitchen.  Thanks for the help!Jordan   PS: We much prefer airplay because of the Apple Watch compatibility with Apple Music. I have previously had issues playing to multiple devices, especially ALAC. The solution was to add a couple of ethernet connected devices to SonosNet, this has worked well.I understand that the first device playing is the group coordinator, and if possible should be a wired device.Reason I ask, is I’m thinking or replacing some wired P1’s with ERA100’s and don’t want to break my existing system, ie cause drop outs etc. Here is the Network Matix with P1’s connected to ethernet, this is fine and stable:  I disconnected the two P1’s I want to replace with ERA100 and SonosNet doesn’t look so healthy. If I add a couple of ERA100’s in this setup, I would be stressing the SonosNet again, and the drop outs may return? What happens when a non-SonosNet is the first device?eg lets say I start streaming to an ERA100, and then group a non-wired SonosNet device.The stream will go through router, via WiFi to ERA, back via WiFi to router, then via ethernet to wired SonosNet device, and then onward via

In the old days before Sonos I used to just be able to sync up with my neighbour (we have great neighbours and enjoy the same music) and put it on the same radio station. Because it was on the same time delay (instant) we could enjoy the same environment without two different sounds going on. Now with streaming services and delays in network traffic not to mention Sono’s time delay to make sure all the speakers sync up we can’t do this. Is there anyway to do a neighbourhood sync so we can give permission or even a crazy technical hack (we are both pretty technical) to make this work. Only think I can come up with is to run a network cable between the houses but then we would still need to be on the same network. Thoughts? 

Hey there! I’ve never had trouble connecting my Sonos to the internet. It’s only about 2 years old. I moved last week and my new apartment uses AT&T InstantOn internet. I don’t know many details about it or what to even look for as everything is already set up. Has anyone encountered this problem or know how what I can do correct anything? I usually believe problems like this are due to user error but part of me feels like I’m going to have to retire my Sonos until I move into a place with regular internet? (My apologies, I am very tech and internet illiterate and can’t believe I just said “regular internet.” Lol)

Hello,I have Sonos in two homes on obviously different networks.  One system is relatively new and I can upgrade to the S2 app.  The other system has an older component on it that still requires S1.  If I upgrade my S1 app at the home where it can be upgraded will it turn into S2, erase the S1, and thus prevent me from using it at the home that requires S1? 

Hello sonos community!Is it possible to group two rooms with one having the sonos beam+sub+one sourrounds (capable of dolby atmos music via apple music) and the other room having the new era300 and both playing dolby atmos?Currently the 2nd room is equipped with a five and when I group these rooms I loose the dolby atmos format for all speakers…Thank you in advance!

Hi,I would like to make a feature request to maintain Dolby Atmos when speakers are grouped.My setup: I have a large open plan kitchen, family, dining room. In the family room (TV area), I have the Arc, 2 x One SLs and the Sub Gen 3. In the kitchen-dining area I have another pair of Ones. When playing music I often play through all the speakers so as to fill the room and get the benefit of the sub.Yesterday, I tried playing Atmos music through the Arc setup which sounds great in the family room area. However, as soon as I add the Ones in the kitchen-dining room area, I lose the Atmos in the family room area. It would be great if the system could continue to play Atmos music through the Arc + One SLs while also playing (stereo) music through the other pair of Ones.Hope that makes sense, Thanks!
