Advanced setups

Just wondering.   I have a Comcast modem/router.  And a Google mesh.  And a Sonos Boost connected to the Google nest router.What's better for connectivity performance? Comcast as the wifi network with the boost and using Sonosnet? Or using the Google mesh with the Boost and sonosnet?  

I have had issues with my Sonos devices losing connection to my T-Mobile Home Internet service.  It went on for months while I searched for an answer.  The problem now seems resolfved.   T-Mobile gave me an Arcadyan KV21 gateway.  Speeds were never an issue.  I accumulated 1 ARC, 2 Beams, 2 Amps and a sub woofer.  I could play music from a service maybe 10 minutes before the connection issues came up.  Sonos answer was that their products are not compatible with LTE routers or services so I shouldnt expect it to work.  I went back to T-Mobile and had them replace my Arcadyan gateway with a Sagemcom.  I hooked it up and my Sonos equipment connected and stayed connected.  Problem solved or so I thought.  Then came the Prime Video streaming service issues, it just would not work.  Then, another device in my home refused to connect.  But Sonos still worked.I had read that an eero mesh wifi system hooked to the T-Mobile gateway might help and finally all my devices seem to work.  Cost me an

Just to spread the knowledge: I moved apartments and Verizon upgraded my FIOS router from the G3100. I immediately began experiencing issues with music streaming, connecting to speakers, changing the volume etc. Basically nothing worked, or in the sparing moments it did it lagged immensely. I searched around and applied some fixes to no avail, then spoke with Sonos Support for an hour experimenting many of the same approaches with no success. I finally stumbled across a router setting that solved everything, although I suspect it was a combination of the settings changes I made that solved things. Overall here’s what I tried: Connecting one speaker to the router via ethernet to start a Wired Connection Setting the Sonos Network to Channel 11 in System > Network In the My Fios App, going to Advanced Settings and turning of SON (Self-Organizing Network) Explicitly Naming the 5ghz and 2.4ghz SSIDs (What finally solved it) Disabling DFS ChannelsI suspect one or  more of these steps may

In my living room, I have two fives and two ones. If I get the sub, can I group it to the group “living room” or can I only add it to the fives or ones?

I’m sure this topic has been covered a number of times. However, everyone’s setup is different…. I have several WiFi access points (UniFi) in my home between indoors and outdoors. I also run both S1 and S2. I’m guessing that with the number of AP’s that I have, it may be best to run Sonos on WiFi so that I don’t have 2 additional networks competing for the same 1, 6, and 11 channels…..correct? While the AP’s are physically spread across my home and yard, I can set the AP on one side to channel 1 and the AP on the other side also to channel 1 and they won’t clash. However, with Sonos being meshed across the whole house and yard….I expect it would interfere with any AP that’s always on the same channel.

This can be done by selecting “Settings” > “My Household” > “Create Household” in the Sonos app. There is no mention of the app version needed and I do not see any such setting/option in the current iOS version of the app nor Android app.   I’m guessing this is not a real feature but wanted to ask the experts here. Thank you,Chris

(And pfSense router)I’ve had trouble for a long time w/ packet storms, and with intermittent Sonos sound.Finally sat down and solved it.What doesn’t work: the existing instructions all over the place. With current Sonos firmware, the hidden HTML UI is gone, and the available app method for disabling WiFi (Settings->System->(Room)->(Product Name)->Disable Wifi )… turns it right back on. What helps for understanding: Sonos uses VERY old STP priority settings. Gotta force compatibility w/ that… by setting the “Path cost” incredibly low. What does work: the following sequence and settings:Unifi: turn off any multicast blocking. enable IGMP3 snooping.Smart switch:Switching->STP: Basic: enable STP, Mode: RSTP; enable Forward BDPU while STP disabled (you will disable STP on Sonos ports below) CST config: bridge prio 4096 CST port config (for any Sonos ports): DISABLE STP, Path Cost and Ext P

Hello,I've gone from DSL to coax, and it's like the new coax router can't communicate with my ethernet switches.It is primarily the connection to the a Sonos speaker and for a Nokia Streaming Box 8000 that is having problems.The router is a Technicolor CGA4233. My ethernet switch is a TP-Link TL-SG105Do some settings on the router need to be changed?Does it require something more from an ethernet switch for it to work with a coax router?Does a network switch have to support certain functions in order for it to work with a coax router?I am considering buying a new ethernet switch - e.g. as below. Will that help anything?Maybe I should also change the cable between the router and the ethernet switch to cat 7? TP-Link TL-SG1005PThanks in advance.

I have a BT UK router and I am thinking about getting one of their WiFi disks to help extend the WiFi upstairs, does this work OK with Sonos? Or are there issues?To be clear, I don’t want a possible mesh BT WiFI disk for Sonos, just for a TV upstairs that has poor WiFI connection sometimes. Most of my Sonos is on SonosNet and my portable speakers seem to do fine on the WiFi.If I got a BT Disk, could this upset Sonos?

Hi,So recently I bought a new home cinema setup but it comes with only a HDMI input for a separate channel. I managed to connect the Sonos Port with a RCA converter to HDMI. Though when I pair my home cinema setup with my Play:1 in the kitchen i have a delay. Probably the delay is caused by the converter. Does anyone have a solution for this? Right now I have the 2x RCA converter to HDMI. Though I could not find one that converts the digital coaxial to HDMI.

Pushing the envelope of SONOS Technology - and having trouble.The Setup: ERA 100 connected to Pro-ject T1 BT turntable via bluetooth and playing a recordERA 100 setup via WifiAdditional 8 room whole house system on Sonosnet and all connected to ERA 100 to listen to the turntableThe issue: When I use the ERA 100 as the source to drive my 8 speaker whole house system, after about 10 minutes of the entire 9 speaker system all outputting the turntable music perfectly, I start to get sonosnet dropouts.  The single ERA 100 never has a dropouts and continues to play the music via bluetooth from the turntable flawlessly for hours.  The 8 speakers in the Sonosnet system all start to dropout at roughly the same time and they come back up automatically after 5-10 seconds in random order.  It is as if the Sonos system drops the entire sonosnet system, then reconnects.  The perplexing part is I get perfect connectivity for about 10 minutes, then I get sonosnet dropouts every 2-3 minutes that last 5

Ft home (two stories with an unfinished basement)Basement: 1x Sonos OneFirst Floor: 1x Sonos One, 1x Sonos Roam, 1x Sonos Move, 1x Sonos FiveSecond Floor: 3x Sonos OneMusic Sources: Spotify, Apple Music, U-Turn Turntable (setup line-in on the Sonos Five)Wireless: Eero 6 Pro (3x nodes, one on each floor) All Sonos devices are wireless.Internet: 1.2 Gbps cable (roughly 30 Mbps up)Devices: An all-Apple household (iPhone or iPad interacting with the Sonos app) My Issue: I have had a VERY inconsistent experience with Sonos actually “playing” music when asked.  Let me explain…  The central music player in our house is the turntable.  I do have auto-play turned on for the Sonos 5 (where the turntable is connected).  No matter what order I go about things (drop the needle on a record and then add rooms, or add groups, or add groups then drop the need

I have a SONOS Port digital out connected to the DAC on McIntosh MA5300.  When the Port is set for “variable” line-out, I get a persistent static / crackling noise that seems to be more prevalent when streaming from Spotify.  When changing the output mode to pass-through, this disappears completely.Has anyone else experienced this?  Any tips on how to correct?   The MA5300 is not easily accessible so controlling via the Sonos app is preferred.

I have just bought the IKEA home Smart HUB and am using the Home Smart 2 App.When I try to connect/setup Sonos Play:1 Play:3 Play:5 and Symfonisk speakers, it opens the SONOS 1 app but nothing happens. I cannot setup the speakers in the IKEA App. I have talked to IKEA Support at they cannot help me.

We moved from WI to SC.  Sonos streaming stations still thinks we’re in WI.  How do I change it?

I’m setting up my sonance garden series 8.1 and I’m not getting any signal when I plug in the sonance sr2-125 amp (which is also connected to my sonos port).  When I connect the system to my Sonos Amp from my house system it all works fine. I have multiple Sonos speakers that I own. I have several that I keep at one home and another group I have at my second home.   All are set up for Wi-Fi, and both homes have the same Wi-Fi name. when I go to apply updates when at a location, Sonos tries to locate speakers at my second home. And the drops them from the app when it can’t find them.  when I go to my second home, I always have trouble getting my Move and Roam to get discovers again.  mid there a way to define multiple Systems in the app and associate/assign speakers to that locations System?    

Looking for input on how to keep my speakers from dropping out/reconnecting several times whenever I select a new playlist on Spotify.In an attempt to forestall the inevitable FIX YOUR WIFI replies, I am using the TPLINK Deco mesh system and have strong coverage throughout the house. We have about 10 Play-1s and Sonos Ones, as well as a Move and a Roam. One Sonos One speaker is hardwired to the main Deco router, the rest of the speakers are wireless.As much as I love the sound of the speakers, after several years I had given up expecting the dropout problem to ever be fixed.That is until a couple of days ago when, just for fun, I deleted the wifi credentials from the Network section of the Sonos app. Miraculously, the dropouts disappeared, and the system now works without any interruptions in speaker connectivity. Hi I have 6 sonos items placed on one network in thé House. Unfortunately I can only manage the system from the living room. If I live to another room it is impossible to connect although I remain on the same network and that the quality is good. 

Looking for advise and/or solution to make SONOS speakers work with VoIP cloud telephony. Case is as follows: 4 SONOS speakers (ONE/Play) and cloud telephony in combination with SNOM PA1+, so it is possible to “call” the SNOM device and make an announcement. Most desired is, that during normal operation there is radio playing, when an announcement is made, there is a “ding-dong” and you can speak your frase into the telephone you have on site. How to make this work? Anyone have experience in this kind of configuration? So: Use VoIP cloud telephony in combination with announcement to SONOS speakers on site using SNOM PA1+ device. “this can do everything except making coffee” but SNOM can't help me out ;-) Advise; trail and error…. Not the way I would like to start this!

I am experiencing some issues changing streaming method.The issue appears on a system composed by Sonos One (LH) + Sonos One 2nd (RH) + Sub 2nd.Music service: Apple Music.Streaming with Sonos S2 app: no issue, good quality, good bassStreaming with Airplay2: volume is lower, bass are lower, sometimes LH or RH stop working when passing through next song (this happen mostly when streaming “lossless”, so I guess depends on internet connection)Streaming with Alexa: this is the bigger issue, playing starts with sub not working, so only stereo pair is playing but without bass. During playing, opening Sonos app, I see that removing sub (system → Sub audio → remove flag from “Sub”) the bass increase, because bass pass from Sub (not working) to Sonos One speakers. Somebody could help me solving Airplay and Alexa streaming issues?Thank you,Andrea

I had a standalone router with no internet connection running my three Play 5's and a Bridge.This was down to how poor our internet speeds were with Sonos connected to our ISP router.Initial set up was awkward, but I got it to work somehow.But now my Bridge died, and Sonos S1 app won't detect speakers at all, neither will Airplay through Music app. What can I do to get back to that set up, and is there a guide how to set up standalone routers purely for Sonos use?Do I just have to buy a Bridge (2nd hand I'm guessing)? 

I have a set top cable box, a Smart Tv, and a Sonos  Beam (Gen 2). There are no speakers attached to the Beam. The cable box and tv both support Dolby Digital Plus and both have pass through capabilities The cable box is connected to the tv via HDMI cable.I Watch streaming Netflix on my tv via wi-fiThe beam is connected to my tv via eARC HDMI My Questions at this point are;Where should Dolby DIgital + be decoded?  The Beam I would think.  What happens to the “signal” as it passes through the cable box and TV?   Doesn’t the codecs process the signal as it passes through these intermediate cable box and the TV?  How does the Beam know the cable box and tv exist?Many articles on the web say the cable box and tv should be set to pass-through.Many articles on the web say the tv should be set to PCM.If I understood how this worked I think i could determine how to set up t he intermediate boxes along the patch.Thanks in Advance
