I have been unable to get Sony Bravia Sync to recognize Sonos Beam.  I have tried the HDMI cable that came with the Beam as well as an HDMI cable I used for another sound bar, without success.   The Beam will play music from my Sonos app and from Apple Air play.  Help, please!

Hello,I just recieved my Sonos ARC and tried to connect via HDMI in the eARC port.  My TV wouldn’t recognize the Sonos ARC was connected - just that an “unknown device” was connected, and my Sonos App would not recognize that it was connected either.  I tried this multiple times, plugging and unplugging both the soundbar and the TV HDMI port connection. No change. When I clicked on settings, it allowed me the opportunity to switch from television audio to a receiver, but once I selected receiver - the choice disappeared altogether and all I had to choose from was tv speaker, wireless bluetooth speaker, or optical cable… it was very odd… and now, I can’t get that “receiver” option back.  Where did it go??  I’ve tried going into expert settings and toggling the eARC mode to Auto vs. off.  Nothing changed with that either.After much time and frustration, I connected it via the optical cable dongle attachment and it recognized the soundbar… but now I don’t think I’ll get the quality sound

I just upgraded from Beam to Arc and am incredibly happy overall. The wider sound stage alone makes it a worthwhile investment. I’ve got a 65” TV and the stereo separation of the Beam just wasn’t wide enough to support the screen size. Question: Currently, my TV uses HDMI ARC (no eARC) and will support the Dolby Digital Plus format. That said, I’m not sure if I’m getting the DD+ version of Atmos or not. Checking About My System section and it usually reads Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for Atmos movies. Knowing this, is Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 the lossy version of Atmos? The Sonos app doesn’t display the Atmos logo when watching Atmos content, so I’m not sure exactly what audio format I’m getting. Current setup:TCL Series 4 65” TV (2018) With HDMI ARCSonos ARC2 play:1 surroundsSub Gen 2Apple TV 4K

Hi, I have a Gen 2 Apple TV connected to the Sonos Beam for sound (via AirPlay), and a projector via HDMI for video. All is well.  However, I want to be able to mirror my MacBook screen to the projector and play audio from the Beam. I can AirPlay from my Mac to the AppleTV then the projector no problem, but doing this sends the audio from AppleTV through the HDMI to the projector instead of the Beam. Any clever ways to split the video and audio from my MacBook mirroring between ATV and Beam? Or is there a device I can buy to force the Apple TV audio to go the Beam instead of HDMI? Thanks! 

Hi all   I would appreciate your views on a quick question.  I have a Sonos bean with 2 play 3s as surrounds and the Sub.  Due to lip sync issues with my LG C7 I used optical connections to the beam using the adapter and this fixed the issue.     from what I have read I would have the same issues with the Arc and again would use the optical to solve this.   So with that assumption and knowing that Dolby Atmos would not be available through optical is the Arc worth it as an upgrade?     the room is the main TV room and is 8m by 10m in size.     thanks   Josh

Hello,   Apologies if this is answered somewhere already, but I haven’t been able to find an answer to this specific question neither here nor on Reddit.   I’m a long time Sonos user, and good enough when it comes to tech and gadgets, but by no means am I a professional.  I’ve recently purchased the Arc for my living room (upgraded from the Beam) and have the full Sonos 5.1 setup for it.  My TV is from late 2017 (Vizio P65-E1) and from what I read, it will pass through Dolby Digital and DTS Surround.  I watch content on an Apple TV 4K and plays games on an Xbox One S and PS4 Pro.  With every device, I am getting great sounding 5.1 surround sound.  Now, I have been trying to see if I can get Atmos working on the Arc.   It seems, from what I’ve read, this isn’t quite possible on my current setup.  I would need to plug my Apple TV directly into the Arc and then plug that into the TV.  That isn’t possible with only HDMI port on the Arc, so my question is this: Would I be able to get

Hi there im planning on buying a new Tv i was looking on rtings.com and the TCL 6 SERIES 2019 R625 come up as a good option but as soon as i was about to buy the set i realize i didnt know if it was fully compatible with my sonos beam im also planning on buying a sub + 2 five in the next year and i want to know if they can work all together via HDMI ARC if anyone has a similar setup with the TCL 6 SERIES i would really apreciete the feedback.

I’m using a Sonos Arc in a projector setup, with: Sony UBP-X700 as source 1 Roku Streaming Stick+ as source 2 an AV Access matrix in the middle, which passes video over HDMI to the projector and audio over S/PDIF to the Arc’s HDMI adapter.  Everything works great with the Roku —the Sonos iOS app reports that the Arc’s audio input is 5.1.    Unfortunately, when using the Sony Player — to play either its own Netflix App, or a 4K Blu-ray — no matter how I configure the audio settings, the Arc only seems to receive stereo.  The Sony player is configured to send surround, and according to the onscreen info, it’s outputting 5.1 or 7.1 (depending on the disc or streaming content).   I’m hoping that the HDFury Arcana I preordered will fix this, but I’d love to get this fixed sooner than that. I’d really appreciate any advice!    

HiI would like to add the Sub gen 3 to my ARC, I hear people say it takes the weight of bass off the ARC, but does it in technical terms, I mean with the sub added, would the ARC not output as much bass? Also I’m thinking about hiding away the sub, and to do this I would need to lay it on its side, anyone else got the sub on its side, any difference from upright, better, worse? Thanks

Hi I have a playbase in my living room connected to my TV via the arc hdmi. I also have a set of wired surround sound speakers fixed to the walls. I would like to use these in my setup in the most efficient way possible.  I don't want to replace the playbase, or have to buy a new amp to add and just use for surround sound. But i would look at buying a new single unit that could do both the tv and surround sound.   So I guess my question is, what is the best way I could use these speakers? I've looked into optical audio splitters to send the tv output to move the speakers and the playbase but that didn't seem to work. I then tried and old zp 120 and added that as a surround system, but it wasn't great as it had to be setup as another room that you then have to group to play the same audio.  Does anyone have any suggestions or things i could try? I have a Dolby atmos compatible STereo and 4 in ceiling speakers.  options are get an arc and hook two sonos speakers in the rear (ignore or fill in the ceiling speakers and throw the stereo out) What would you do? 

I have just replaced a Playbar with Arc. The Playbar was connected via the optical cable, and the new Arc is via ARC from TV. Previously the sound would come from instantly from Playbar as soon as picture appeared on TV. When I turn the TV on, there seems to be a 5 second delay after the picture first appears before green light flashes on the Arc and sound is heard from Arc, ie there is no sound for 5 seconds after TV Picture is visible when turning TV on. I was wondering if this is normal for ARC connected devices vs Optical? Is there any adjustments on the Arc that can be done to improve the 5 second delay? 

I’d like to use a Sonos Port for surround speakers. Can anybody tell me if this is possible? Thanks!

Is anyone experiencing sound dropouts on their Arc when playing media via Plex on Nvidia Shield with TrueHD/Atmos? I have an Arc with sub and surrounds connected to a 2020 LG OLED77GX6LA with eARC. I am playing media via Plex app on a 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro. The LG is doing HDMI passthrough and everything is hardwired ethernet except for the sub and rears. I am getting short audio dropouts durring what seems to more energetic audio scenes possibly durring higher bit rates. There was a known issue with the Shield and TrueHD MAT 2.0 but that was fixed a while back and I read that some still have the issue with sound bars due to the high bit rates needed. Thanks

Hi, I just heard a very bass-heavy song and unfortunately I heard a problem, with very deep bass it sounds like the drivers are at their limit and it sounds like an unclean muddy vibration... No matter if with trueplay or without  , trueplay made it even worse ... With the subwoofer you don't notice this problem.  With the stereo distribution, one does not always have the impression that something comes from the left or right and with Atmos from the top only minimally.  The voices sound rather thin and artificial and the adaptation to a 5.1.2 system with the Sub and 2 Play 5 does not work properly either, because the speakers sound very different in tone and you think that it is a completely different system from a different manufacturer  is. I have a sub, the Arc in front of the TV on the furniture and 2 Play 5 in the back ... Everything at 0 EQ and still the Play 5 sound much warmer and more powerful than the Arc.  The bass reproduction is not the problem with the Sub, rather th

Hi all, I have a Panasonic Oled TV model - 55GZ950B 2019 Model. Last week i bought the Sonos Arc and I cant get it to work via the Hdmi 2 (Arc) connection on my TV. When going through the setup on the Sonos App it gets to the point of testing the Viera Link and says Viera Link not connected even though Viera Link is set to ON in the TV settings. Tried 3 other cables in case mine was faulty but same result. Eventually i had to use the optical adapter to get sound from my TV to the Sonos Arc but it only comes out in stereo. Tried the Sonos Arc on a Samsung TV and it set up with no issues - so not faulty cable or soundbar. Tried another input to Hdmi 2 and picture and sound are fine - so not faulty Hdmi 2 port on TV. In conclusion I think there maybe an issue with the Sonos App with the Viera Link testing. Spent over an hour with a Sonos tech on chat to no avail. He ran out of options to try. Can anyone help ? I’m happy with the performance of our recently required Sonos Arc--a much welcomed upgrade to our Sonos home theater system, originally built around the optical-audio-input-dependent and disappointing Sonos Playbase. I gave the new Arc, sub, and rear One speakers a workout yesterday, playing Hollywood’s 2019 iteration of “Midway” on our 11-year-old 55-inch Samsung. Planes roared overhead; when somebody crashed into the drink and sank below the surface, I heard bubbles above me, even without Dolby Atmos. The upgraded system’s performance was pretty much on a par with the infinitely more complex (don’t ask), and ultimately failed Bose 5.1 wireless surround system that preceded my initial Sonos surround setup. The Playbase-centered solution had never come close to the Bose system’s performance, when said Bose system--long-since discontinued--was working. I know Sonos has promised LPCM compatibility and I know Sonos doesn’t typically give timelines. But the end of the 60 day return policy is coming up and I likely only want to keep my Arc if this is going to ultimately be fixed. I don’t want a situation where magically it turns out the tech is too hard / the fix to integrate LPCM doesn’t work and then I’m stuck with an expensive soundbar I might not have wanted. Is Sonos willing to either (a) extend the return period for ppl with this issue until after the fix is issued and/or (b) provide guidance around timing so that we can get comfortable we’ll be able to test this within the 60 days? What are other people planning on doing around this? Thanks…   David

The Beam has lip sync problems with the new 43’ QLED TV when audio is delivered to it in dolby. No sync error with PCM. From a cursory reading on here it seems Samsungs generally work with Sonos (ie without sync errors). Other than adjusting to PCM are there other settings I could adjust to retain dolby while eliminating the delay?

I just made some changes to my AV setup, and now the volume controls for the Beam are stuck connected to the TV remote. Before: Audio output: Beam connected to LG smart TV via Hdmi/Optical audio adapter. Video input: Chromecast, PS4, Nintendo Switch Status: When directing TV audio output to Beam, was able to control volume using TV remote. When audio output is through TV speakers, the remote will have no effect on the Beam (i.e. playing music out of the Beam while using the TV for video games) Now: I just set up the Altice One cable box, which has replaced the HDMI port used by the chromecast. This device also replaced my wifi router, so I had to reconnect the Sonos system to the new network. I also had to update the app (Sonos Controller) to the latest version. Now, when I am listening to music on the Beam via Sonos app and have TV audio set to TV speakers, the TV remote will still control the Beam, even though the Beam is not receiving TV audio. Hello Sonos world,    When it’s working, it’s perfect. Unfortunately, and unpredictably, my Sonos Beam volume stops being controlled by the Apple TV remote. I am still able to control volume from my Sonos app, but the volume controls on the Apple TV remote stop controlling volume. My setup is as follows:  Samsung QLED display  Sonos Beam connected via HDMI-ARC port Apple TV connected to Samsung TV via HDMI Sometimes I’ll play music via the beam from my Macbook Pro (via the Sonos App), as you might expect. This is usually the culprit for the problem, but I can figure out a way to revert back to the correct set up (where the Apple TV controls the volume of the TV via the Sonos).    Has anyone experienced this? I’m not even sure which machine to restart or which hardware is causing the problem. Likely the Sonos, but is there something I can do to mitigate this?    Thanks Sonos hive! 

Hi All, I have my Firestick 4k plugged into HDMI 4 and my Sonos Arc into HDMI 1 (ARC channel). I set my sound settings on the Vizio p65 TV to bitstream (but tried auto as well). Sound settings on Firestick is set to “Always DD+” I tried several shows on both Netflix and Amazon Video with no luck in getting the Sonos S2 app to show the Dolby Atmos logo in the now playing screen. On the P65 (TV) remote, I can press the “Info” button, and it shows I am getting Dolby audio, but I suspect it is not Atmos. I’ve tried Jack Ryan season 3 ep 8, I tried Better Call Saul Season 4, Baby Driver, and a few others. Is the S2 app glitchy? I tried it on both an Android phone and an Iphone. Am I really not getting Atmos? Where do you think I am going wrong?

App upgraded to S2 and settings all carried across, except the above will not work. App says wireless network will not support sub or rear speakers but the sound bar works. My router and network settings have not changed so why have they stopped after the app upgrade? It doesn’t suggest how to resolve it as the speakers work fine when unpaired from the bar and sub. Sonos say that nothing should have changed.  Anyone else have this problem?

I’m experiencing a problem where the surround sound works only partially. I have the beam and two play ones as my surrounds on my 2019 TCL ROKU 6 Series (plugged in thru the ARC). Using the built in apps on my TV, the surround works on Disney+, Amazon Prime, and the Dolby Channel, as well as my local antenna. However, audio from Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO, ESPN, YouTube, Showtime, and more seem to be stuck in stereo and will ONLY play on the beam itself. Is this caused by the lack of support for Dolby Digital+ and is there a way around this?

System is as follows: LG OLED65C8PUA Sonos Arc 5.1 w/sub and two Sonos One-SL Tivo, Apple TV, Blu-Ray Player I have had my Arc system for a few days. At various times, the audio cuts out and the TV’s internal speakers take over.  After a few seconds, the Sonos white light starts flashing and eventually, switches back to the HDMI-ARC restoring full audio.  I have tried several cables and still experience the problem.  The last time it happened, I submitted diagnostics: 444199566.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.
