Question

Samsung TV with playbar - error message

Hi, I have a Sonos Playbar, Samsung TV (UN60EH6000), and Verizon Fios One TV remote. I have connected the playbar to the Verizon remote and am able control the volume, but every time I press volume up or down an error message saying “not available” flashes on the TV screen. While this error message goes away after a couple of seconds, it is still annoying. Is there a setting to change or anything else i can do to prevent this error message from popping up? Thank you

Hi @kcberg1.

Welcome, thank you for reaching out to Sonos Community.

I understand your having issue getting that error message, have you already tried to retrain your remote?

Let us know if it works. If you need help with any other information, please be sure to let us know.

Hi @Mark P Thanks, Do you have a guide for how to retrain my remote?

Hi @Mark P Thanks, Do you have a guide for how to retrain my remote?

How to program your remote control

Steps to pair your Fios TV Voice Remote with Fios TV One or Fios TV One Mini.

  1. Point the Fios TV Voice Remote toward the Fios TV One you wish to pair it with,
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and “O” buttons at the same time,
  3. Release the buttons when the blue light starts flashing on the Fios TV Voice Remote,
  4. When the blue light stops flashing on the Fios TV Voice Remote, your Fios TV Voice Remote is connected, paired and ready for use.

Steps to control your TV or Audio using your Fios TV Voice Remote.

After you’ve paired your Fios TV Voice Remote to your set top box, HDMI-connected TVs and Audio systems should automatically be detected and be controlled by your Fios TV Voice Remote.

  1. Go to Menu > Settings > Voice control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Voice Remote > Automatic Setup
    1. Once the automatic setup completes you’ll see a “Success” message in the top right of the TV screen,
    2. If this does not work for you, please skip to step 2.
  2. Go to Menu > Settings > Voice control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Voice Remote > Manual Setup
    1. Select your TV or Receiver Brand and Model and follow the steps,
    2. You will see a “Success” message in the top right of the TV screen when the setup is complete.

@ewolkoff @Mark P thanks for the replies. Yes I had already retrained the remote. The Verizon remote controls the TV and Sonos soundbar currently. The only issue is that an error message saying “not available” pops up on the TV screen whenever I press the volume up or volume down buttons. Any other suggestions?

this article seems to address my problem, but it doesn’t show a solution for my remote: https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/tv/equipment/remote-control/voice-remote . Are you able to update this article so that it also includes Verizon Fios’ latest version of remote control?

Verizon will have to deal with your issue.  You have to contact them.
