Amazon Alexa and Sonos

It’s far too loud. When I ask for my flash briefing she speaks at a normal volume. Then when the briefing plays it’s incredibly low so I have to turn the volume up. Then when Alexa speaks up again she’s SO VERY LOUD. This issue seems to come up over and over with no actual solution. All n all the Sonos 1 seems to have been a gimmick. Well I fell for it. Had I known how sketchy Alexa was in this I wouldn’t have opted for it.

How do I get Sonos to turn smart plug lights on and off?

So I bought a pair of sonos one's in april because I wanted to combine great speakers with an alexa app. Boy has this been a nightmare. One problem after another. Called sonos on record at least a dozen times and they couldn't get the problems solved. They told me I needed a boost so spent $100 on that amd still had issues. Finally customer service told me its verizon and my routers fault and I should reach out to them even though I have 32 wireless devices being controlled on my network and never had an issue and I got the boost. Bs on them! Finally i reached out to a local installer who knows what they are talking about and who helped me for free get it to almost work. This guy was better than all 12 of the sonos technicians. Crazy. So now I can play music in stereo thru the speakers but cant get Alexa to work. I currently have a Sonos playbar. Im fully aware that I can add the Gen 1 or Gen 2 play 1's to the playbar to create surround sound and great TV / sound experience. My question is if I buy 1 x gen 2 play one and then the original gen 1 play 1 and connect them all up, when I use Alexa and the voice controls for example to ask it to play Oasis greatest hits, will all the speakers work or just the Gen 2? I'm trying to establish if i need to buy 2 x Gen 2 speakers when they will be sitting 5 meters apart.I like the Gen2 new feathers but it seems silly have 2 of the speakers in the same room. Thanks

I'm fairly new to the world of Sonos, having had a Play 1 for nine months and having been impressed enough by its capabilities to buy a Sonos One. I'm also a committed Amazon Alexa person. I have an Echo and three Dots. I decided to buy a Sonos One rather than a second Play 1 as a replacement for the Amazon Echo in my kitchen, believing (mistakenly as it turns out) that this would mean using the Sonos One alone rather than a Play 1 plus an Echo or a Dot. I was unaware that the abilities of the Alexa enabled Sonos fall short of those with which a dedicated Alexa device is endowed. One such shortcoming was revealed when I asked the Sonos One to set a daily Alexa reminder to prompt me to check the temperature of my stored hot water. The Sonos One responded to my voice request in exactly the same way as an Echo and I expected to be reminded by a spoken message every day at the time set. My sonos system has stopped working with Alexa post the 10.4 update. When you ask Alexa to play xxx it queues the music but doesn't play the music. Really annoying any fixes. I also added a new sonos amp to my set up tonight and Alexa cannot find this device either!

Recently I purchased Sonos One from USA. I am not able to use the voice activation in India. Can someone guide me as to have I can work around this problem ? Any way to change the location to USA so that it works ?

I have had a sonos one for about a year and everything worked fine until about a month ago. Now it won't not play spotify via a voice command. It just says "sorry that device is offline". If I unplug the Sonos One, do a factory reset, and reconnect to Alexa and Spotify, things work fine for a day or two and then that message comes back. Any ideas?

I know you can only use one Voice Assistant natively on the Sonos One, but is there a way to get the best of both worlds ? I'd like to use Google Assistant for day to day voice commands as well as use the power of the Sonos speaker with a "paired" Echo Dot. I have the Sonos One and Echo Dot in the kitchen I have a few reasons for wanting to do this 1) Sonos One cannot exist in an Amazon Multi Room Music Group - if like to play the same music on my multiple Amazon devices around the house and the kitchen is excluded - I am reluctant to add another (bluetooth) speaker into the kitchen to facilitate this 2) The Sonos One doesn't support the new Amazon Alexa kitchen / timer clock So basically if like to use the Sonos One all the time but there are restrictions in Alexa compatibility meaning i would still need the Dot for the two features above but use the more powerful Google Assistant too So - is it possible to "pair" the Dotand the Sonos One,get all the benefits I need AND still

I am trying to connect my newly acquired sonos one to Alexavoice control .... I have successfully connected to Google assistant When I attempt to connect to Alexa, I always get the message "There was a problem adding Alexa" I can connect the sonos speaker through the Alexa app, and have successfully played music via the linked spotify app (both through the Alexa app, and through voice control with Google assistant) I did read about a similar problem in Australia....

I've been using my Sonos Beam with Alexa for months with zero issues. Today I had the brilliant idea to play a new album I bought from Google Play and found that the only way to do it was to link my Beam to Google Assistant. Part way through the setup, I saw the notice that everybody in the house would be able to access my Google account info, just by asking - YUCK, no thanks - so I canceled connecting to Google Assistant. Now, I can't get Alexa back. My microphone doesn't light up, and my Alexa app shows the device as offline. I tried several times to add Alexa back, but every time I tap to sign in to Amazon, I get a spinner for a second, then the message "! There was a problem adding Alexa - Try again or Not now". I followed all the advice I found searching online: disable skill in Alexa app, remove devices, reset Beam, and start all over, but I'm still stuck at "There was a problem adding Alexa" and getting more and more frustrated by the minute.

when the voice assistant for Colombia will be available?. According to Amazon it is already available but in the Sonos app it tells me that it is not yet available. Any date available? Thanks

I have an Echo Dot and two Sonos Play:1s, all registered to me, my apps and my phone, all online, same wifi, etc. I have a 'Living Room' group in Alexa.app with "Kitchen Echo Dot" and "Sonos" in it. Sonos is set as default music speaker in Alexa.app and the Sonos Skill is enabled. The problem is when I say "Alexa Play Spotify" I get "Here is Spotify on Sonos. Sorry on Sonos is offline." I can play Spotify on the Sonos using Spotify Connect or the Sonos app, but can't get Alexa to control it. Help?

I've had my Sonos for about 4 months now and in the last few weeks Alexa is no longer working correctly. If I ask it to do something such as "play radio 1" it responds and tells me it it's going to play it, then it bleeps and nothing else happens. The only way i can play music through it now is via the app. Unsure how to rectify this but highly annoying. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello, I've tried "Alexa switch to TV" to return the Sonos to the TV input after streaming music. It simply doesn't work 9/10 times. The TV is specifically named "TV," it is not in a group. It is a Sony Bravio TV xbr900, and I also have the Fire Stick 4K integrated. As far as I know all other voice commands work as they should. Please do not redirect to the previous answers, as I mentioned before "alexa, switch to TV" doesn't work per the previous closed threads.

i gave routine alexa command directly to sonos one. it works well. but why everytime i receivs a sonos message that say it's impossible?

Originally had a Sonos One. When asking Alexa to play radio there was no issues through Tunein. Bought a Beam and moved the One to another room. Since doing that Alexa will not play any radio stations through Tunein on either device. Any ideas? I’ve got a diagnostic code of 779537869.

Hello Sonos friends, Does anyone else feel that the volume steps via Alexa are too large? This is a problem for me, especially at the lower volume steps. Level 1 is barely audible, while level 2 is too loud for background listening in my apartment. I don’t ever even get above level 5 or so, even when I want the music “loud”. I’m constantly having to walk over to the Sonos One and tap the volume controls, something I never had to do with the regular Echo. Clearly the Sonos One just has a huge volume range, while Alexa only has a 1-10 scale. I just wish more of the range was centered on quieter volume steps.

Hi All, I've recently had my Alexa working correctly for the past few weeks, however today when I tried using Alexa it says 'Sorry I'm having trouble understanding right now, please try again later'. Did the usual forget devices, re-enable skills in Alexa which did not work. Then I checked the Sonos App and under Voice Services for my Sonos One it says 'Error' with an accompanying message underneath reading 'There was a problem retrieving Voice Services account information for this room. Please try again.' Thought it was an internet connectivity issue, however my internet is fine and it's been about 12 hours and hasn't self resolved. Unsure how to solve this one - any thoughts? I have a Sonos One with Alexa enabled. I also have amazon echo in other rooms in the house. No matter where I go in the house everytime I say the work Alexa the sonos always goes quiet to listen. I tried changed the voice command name still the same thing. I also closed the door in a room upstairs and spoke quietly to the echo in that room and still the sonos goes quiet to listen with the echo in the other room Very frustrating when you are watching TV etc... Any idea how to get stop this pattern and only listen in the room I am in and talking to it?

Hi, I have recently started to listen to Virgin Radio (via TuneIn) on my Sonos One. If I select Virgin from the Sonos App all works well, but if I ask Alexa to "Play Virgin Radio" it will stutter and not play correctly. Sometimes it will play havoc with the Sonos to the point that I can't stop it (either via the app or Alexa) and have to cycle the power. Occasionally it tells me there is an "incorrect stream". If I change the voice service to Google it will play OK. If I play other stations from TuneIn via Alexa they work OK. Does Alexa stream things in a different way ? Thanks Tim.

I'm a little confused by the different ways to connect Sonos and Alexa, and if they differ or conflict with each other. For backstory, I've had no issues with Alexa integration for the past year, so I'm fairly familiar with using it. I have an Echo Dot and Play:1 upstairs and the Beam downstairs. I recently got a FireStick 4K. In my Alexa app I see my Beam in two ways: TV Room, w/ Sonos Beam grouped/defaulted to that room ('Connected via Sonos') Soundbar ('Connected via Fire TV') [Note I don't know if this is connection is wireless or through HDMI-CEC via the Panasonic TV, then optical/HDMI coverter to Beam] Is there any issue with the duplicate devices? Is there a difference between the two regarding how Alexa and Beam interact? If so, is one preferable over the other? Thanks.

Over the last few days my sonos one and beam will no longer play Spotify based on Alexa requests. I can direct music to them via the app and voice commands to my Echo dot will play spotify. They will play tuneIn stations via Alexa. I can adjust Spotify volume by voice but I can’t start music or pause or stop it. I have the same issue playing audible. I’ve de-authorized and re authorized and tried all the steps in answers provided in other threads by ukmedia (including powering all sonos off and starting a new set up). Diagnostic 850972675. Not sure what else I can do?
