Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Originally had a Sonos One. When asking Alexa to play radio there was no issues through Tunein. Bought a Beam and moved the One to another room. Since doing that Alexa will not play any radio stations through Tunein on either device. Any ideas? I’ve got a diagnostic code of 779537869.

Hello Sonos friends, Does anyone else feel that the volume steps via Alexa are too large? This is a problem for me, especially at the lower volume steps. Level 1 is barely audible, while level 2 is too loud for background listening in my apartment. I don’t ever even get above level 5 or so, even when I want the music “loud”. I’m constantly having to walk over to the Sonos One and tap the volume controls, something I never had to do with the regular Echo. Clearly the Sonos One just has a huge volume range, while Alexa only has a 1-10 scale. I just wish more of the range was centered on quieter volume steps.

Hi All, I've recently had my Alexa working correctly for the past few weeks, however today when I tried using Alexa it says 'Sorry I'm having trouble understanding right now, please try again later'. Did the usual forget devices, re-enable skills in Alexa which did not work. Then I checked the Sonos App and under Voice Services for my Sonos One it says 'Error' with an accompanying message underneath reading 'There was a problem retrieving Voice Services account information for this room. Please try again.' Thought it was an internet connectivity issue, however my internet is fine and it's been about 12 hours and hasn't self resolved. Unsure how to solve this one - any thoughts? I have a Sonos One with Alexa enabled. I also have amazon echo in other rooms in the house. No matter where I go in the house everytime I say the work Alexa the sonos always goes quiet to listen. I tried changed the voice command name still the same thing. I also closed the door in a room upstairs and spoke quietly to the echo in that room and still the sonos goes quiet to listen with the echo in the other room Very frustrating when you are watching TV etc... Any idea how to get stop this pattern and only listen in the room I am in and talking to it?

Hi, I have recently started to listen to Virgin Radio (via TuneIn) on my Sonos One. If I select Virgin from the Sonos App all works well, but if I ask Alexa to "Play Virgin Radio" it will stutter and not play correctly. Sometimes it will play havoc with the Sonos to the point that I can't stop it (either via the app or Alexa) and have to cycle the power. Occasionally it tells me there is an "incorrect stream". If I change the voice service to Google it will play OK. If I play other stations from TuneIn via Alexa they work OK. Does Alexa stream things in a different way ? Thanks Tim.

I'm a little confused by the different ways to connect Sonos and Alexa, and if they differ or conflict with each other. For backstory, I've had no issues with Alexa integration for the past year, so I'm fairly familiar with using it. I have an Echo Dot and Play:1 upstairs and the Beam downstairs. I recently got a FireStick 4K. In my Alexa app I see my Beam in two ways: TV Room, w/ Sonos Beam grouped/defaulted to that room ('Connected via Sonos') Soundbar ('Connected via Fire TV') [Note I don't know if this is connection is wireless or through HDMI-CEC via the Panasonic TV, then optical/HDMI coverter to Beam] Is there any issue with the duplicate devices? Is there a difference between the two regarding how Alexa and Beam interact? If so, is one preferable over the other? Thanks.

Over the last few days my sonos one and beam will no longer play Spotify based on Alexa requests. I can direct music to them via the app and voice commands to my Echo dot will play spotify. They will play tuneIn stations via Alexa. I can adjust Spotify volume by voice but I can’t start music or pause or stop it. I have the same issue playing audible. I’ve de-authorized and re authorized and tried all the steps in answers provided in other threads by ukmedia (including powering all sonos off and starting a new set up). Diagnostic 850972675. Not sure what else I can do?

Alexa will play Scala Radio and Sonos will play Scala Radio *(using the App) - but when I say 'Alexa, play Scala Radio on kitchen" she says "I could not find a station named Scala Radio" ! She will however respond to "Alexa, play Radio 3 on kitchen" Any idea why? On Tunein withing Sonos Scala is a favourite.

I am about to go insane. I don't know what else to do. I had issues with alexa on my sonos one so i decided to remove it so i could re link it again, but now i can't do it. After i click on sign in to alexa, signing in it waits for a bit then it tells me that there was a problem adding alexa. I've done everything. restarted router. replugged speakers. made new sonos and amazon accounts. reset my controller. please help, I am getting super frustrated here

Hello! I have six Sonos speakers (3 Play, 2 Sonos One's, and a Beam). I enjoy the sound and use the app to play music throughout my home. My question regards the integration of Alexa into three of the devices: How do I get the second Sonos One and the Beam to respond to the built in Alexa options? Currently I can only get the original Sonos One to play on voice command, turn off, etc. Neither of the other two devices respond at all. I have searched the community and the Alexa App for solutions. Would love to know the tweak in settings I need to accomplish this. Your help is appreciated.

I have two echo dots and one echo input in three different areas on the same network. My my first dot, in the kitchen, and next to my Sonos Play 5 gen 1, recently stopped streaming to Sonos. It was working fine but not sure why it stopped. Alexa says that it’s playing the track on Sonos (which is what the ply 5 is called) but nothing comes through the speaker. I can can play to the Sonos directly through other devices on Spotify through my iPhone 6s Andy so can my wife through hers. Im not sure if it’s something recent that I changed, but can’t figure out what. The Sonos is the preferred speaker setup on the kitchen dot. Thanks,

I live in Guam, which IS A US TERRITORY. We are governed by all US Federal laws, and residents of Guam are US citizens. When I try to set up Voice support, it tells me "Not available in your country." Really? My country is the US. Mind you, this problem is not unique to Sonos. I recently switched my business to an Office 365 platform, and I kid you not, Microsoft absolutely would not charge me in US dollars. They insisted on charging me Australian dollars, even though we are absolutely part of the US and we use exclusively US dollars as our currency. This should be a REALLY simple problem, Computer People! Set your system to "US Territories = US." Why is that so hard? Google can find my IP address on a map, down to within about 100 meters, so I'm pretty sure they can figure out that I'm in the US.

I have a fairly large open kitchen/living room area and have 2 Sonos Ones set up on opposite sides of the room, paired. It does not seem to allow me to have both of the microphones enabled, so I end up shouting at Alexa from across the room if I happen to be sitting near the one on perma -mute. Is this a deliberate design or is there something wrong with my speaker? If I tap the mute button on it nothing happens

With Sonos playing in a room if an Echo Dot associated with the same room is given the "Alexa" command, is the behavior still for the Sonos speakers to decrease volume during the time Alexa is in control? For some reason I thought this had been eliminated or at least made an option but perhaps not? Furthermore, if this is still the standard behavior, is it just the Echo Dot associated with the same room the Sonos speaker(s) are in or will a an Alexa query on any Echo Dot decrease volume on all Sonos speakers currently in operation throughout a household? Hi everyone! I'm interested to buy a Symfonisk sonos speaker at Ikea. I already got two Amazon Echo paired as a stereo couple, should be fine to add a Symfonisk and play music on the Echos and the Symfonisk at the same time. Is It possible? Reading Sonos skill description in the Alexa app I found that you can stream music "from an Amazon Echo device wirelessly connected to your Sonos speakers (in open beta)". This means that is possible? Thank you all!

Is there a way to adjust the volume of the alarm played when set via Alexa? (searching for this I learned there's a Sonos alarm option as well, which I've never used on my other 7 speakers)

Finally Alexa and Apple Music integration has come to Sonos in Australia. This would be great if it actually worked. I have added the Sonos skill and the Apple Music skill to Alexa. I have added Apple Music as the default music service. I have added Alexa to both my Sonos One and my Beam. When I ask Alexa to play a particular artist, it will default to playing via Amazon Music (despite Apple Music being set as my default). When I specifically request that the artist play from Apple Music, Alexa responds that it “could not find that on Apple Music”, despite the songs being available to play via the Sonos app manually. The only command that works is if I ask Alexa to “play music” and it will play a personalised radio station from Apple Music. However, requesting any particular artist, album, playlist, etc. always either starts playing from Amazon Music or not found if specifically requested to play from Apple Music. How can I just turn ducking off completely? I don't care if Alexa doesn't hear me sometimes. Sonos is my computer speaker, its so annoying having youtube videos duck in volume when I give a command.

Hi I have just purchased a Sonos One Gen 2. I use Apple computers and phones. All of my music is stored in a NAS Drive on my network, and is the default music library in my Sonos setup. I am trying to get Alexa to use this when I ask it to play me some music, but it only seems to want to play music from Amazon. I am clearly missing something when setting up or when asking Alexa to play the music. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks

Just added two Play 3s to my living room beam and now Alexa won’t come up or respond. Tried to turn on the microphone button on the beam and nothing. Looked in the Alexa app, Devices I see that the Beam is offline. Not sure how to get it “online” OR if that is even the issue. HELP. I attached a screen shot of the Alexa app.

Trying to disable the Alexa on the Sonos beam and have an echo dot be the Alexa instead. How do you connect an echo dot to the Sonos beam? It’s not connecting through Bluetooth.

I use my standalone Amazon Echo to control my Sonos Beam (I disabled the built-in Alexa). The Beam is my default speaker. When I say something specific, like “Alexa, play The Beatles” it works great and streams music to the Beam. But it when I say “Alexa, play my music” (which should play all my Spotify “liked” songs, Alexa acknowledges the request, but nothing happens. Any thoughts? Clearly Alexa and the Beam are integrated, but the command to “play my library” or even “play my library in the living room” l is broken somehow? Thanks!!

Hi, Spotted that the Echo Input is down to £15 due to Prime Day. Does anyone have experience of linking this to a Play 3 in the absence of it having a line in?

I was going to buy a pair of Sonos ones when they first came out but the inability to change the "wake word" from Alexa was a deal breaker for me as I already have a multi-room Sonos/Echo/Alexa Home autmation setup in which I use the "wake word" "computer". Therefore any expansion to my existing setup has to also have the abilty to alter the "wake word" to "Computer" as with the Echo/Echo dot. Has this issue now been addressed? If not, can this issue please be addressed in a future update to allow the Alexa Wake word on the Sonos One's to be changed from "Alexa" to "Computer"?
