Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Would I be able to use sonos as a source in my elan system, and control it through Alexa? Thank you,Jim

While looking around at the new features in the latest Alexa app update on my phone. I noticed that all of my Echo devices including my Fire cube’ now has a prefered speaker option under the ‘connected devices’ section in my Android phones Alexa settings. By default this is set to ‘built-in speaker’ but you now have the option to select ‘change’. Once the ‘change’ option is selected you can choose to uncheck the ‘built-in speaker’ option. Then select ‘WIFI Speakers/Use my preferred speaker option’. Now you will be able to select any Alexa enabled Sonos Speaker not only to play music but to also respond for the Fire Cube/Echo device’s voice  commands instead of the ‘built-in speaker’.If you can see the Sonos Speakers but can’t select them as they are greyed out. Then you will need to simply make sure both the Echo device/Fire cube & Sonos speaker you intend to use are in the same group e.g. ‘Living Room’ group. If the group does not yet exsit, then you will need to create a group &a

Which Sonos speaker that has alexa built in? and is it available outside UK?

The last few days when I ask Alexa on SONOS to play Spotify all I get is Alexa responding “here is Spotify” and complete silence. This is happening on all my SONOS Alexa enabled speakers. I have disabled and enabled the Spotify skill and the Alexa app and I am still getting the same results.

HelloI have read other conversations on the topic but they are all quite old and I would like to have an update on this issue. I bought my Sonos One, one week ago and I’m very disappointed with the quality of the microphone, I thought I was buying one of the best smart speakers on the market but it doesn’t look like this one is it. Using the voice control is so annoying that I would have done better buying a normal speaker instead. Can someone from Sonos help out with this issue or if someone from the community knows how to fix it, I would appreciate your help. Thanks​​​​​​​Luigi

I always use Alexa to set the volume on my Sonos system (Beam, Sub and 2xOne SL) I usually ask her to confirm the volume once set, but now she is reporting it incorrectly. So if the volume was set to 1 initially and I ask Alexa to set volume to 3 then ask “Alexa, what is the volume for living room?” She will advise that volume is 1, even though it’s set to 3 as she is now louder.Steps I’ve taken to fix:Disable and enable the Sonos skill in the Amazon Alexa App. Removed the Alexa voice service in the Sonos app and added it again too and powered off the Sonos beam. All to no availHowever, what I did notice was Alexa would confirm the correct volume level after enabling the Sonos Skill in the Alexa App or removing and adding the Alexa voice service in the Sonos app, it was only when I asked Alexa to increase the volume and asked her to confirm the volume for Living Room (Sonos Beam name) she would say it was still 1 even after I’d visually checked the volume increase in the Sonos app. Hop

Sonos One/Move integration with Alexa appears to not support the AudioPlayer interface, at least not fully. The Alexa skill, "My Media for Alexa", uses this API to stream music, however, when playing a list of songs, Sonos plays only the first one in loop. Asking Alexa to play next song works, so it seems it is the play from one to another that does not work correctly. I contact Sonos Web support and basically the answer was that Sonos does not support 3rd party Alexa skills. This is well and good but for example Amazon echo support this skill fully. So it would be great that Sonos is looking to fix that as "My Media for Alexa” skill is the only one works fully by using a local music library (the Plex skill is very buggy in comparison). So please Sonos, look into that

Using Alexa on my Sonos Arc to play Apple Music or control my Fire TV stopped working about a week ago. Regarding the former, it turned out to be a server issue that Sonos fixed. But the latter never came back. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Alexa on the sound bar, disconnected and reconnected in TV and Video settings in the Alexa app, unplugged my TV and Soundbar and then plugged them back in. It did all work last week before the break down. And I can control my TV if I connect it to a different (amazon) Alexa device. But when I connect the TV to the Arc on the Alexa App, it says connected on the app. but when I ask her to do anything with the TV my sound bar tells me to connect a TV in the Alexa app (already done). I called support twice, and they walked me through the same things I had already done then put me on hold and I got disconnected. REALLY frustrating. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas or advice?

Last week my Sonus One stopped accepting my Alexa command to play BBC Radio Two. If i say “Alexa, ask the BBC to play RADIO two” The speaker plays the “BBC Sounds” but nothing is played. If i say “Alexa open BBC Sounds” Speaker then says “BBC Sounds Ask for news or the name of the Radio Station” Nothing i say plays anything.I have factory reset everything unlinked everything and re-joined everything but nothing makes a difference. It has been working fine for months.To play BBC Radio Two i open the App and find it there. Alexa works for other stuff like “alexa whats the weather like) . Any pointers of where to look next?

Hello everyone,TL;DRCannot set the Roam as the Alexa-enabled device for any room in the Alexa app (unlike all other mic-enabled Sonos products)DetailsJust got the Roam today. I set it up, enabled Alexa on it and I added the Roam to a room within the Alexa app. I can properly play music on the Roam and it responds to Alexa just fine.I am having an issue however.Normally in the Alexa app (I'm using Android), for any room, you can set which device is the 'Alexa-enabled device' so that when you say 'Alexa, turn on lights' it only turns on lights for that room. I have 6 other rooms set up this way through-out the house using a variety of Sonos speakers (one uses a Beam, another an Arc, another a Move, the rest using Ones).For some reason I cannot do this with the Roam. Hi there Nearly on May 4, my Sonos One stop of working with Alexa, with hard problems to be recognized by IOS app. Following a suggestion here, I did de-activated the Sonos skill in Alexa, and then it didn’t appeared and when trying again, it says that there is a geographic restriction. I have my Sonos one since 2018 working in Chile with Alexa.There is a bug on the app/system? Or there are legal issues relative to these georestrictions? There is a data when it could be solved? best

Just updated the system with a roam and a couple of Move's. Simple question really. I'm Using Alexa on all of my speakers, and is there a way (or a command) where she will play what I'm listening to in another room as well. For example, been using the roam in the bathroom and then want to carry on listening to where I'm at on the playlist in the bedroom, leaving the roam in the bathroom. I know I could hold down the play/pause in the bedroom before I get in (or out) of the bath, I just wondered if there was a command I could give that would then add another room to the song playing? I have 10 Sonos speakers and 6 Amazon Echoes in various rooms.  My main on e, in my living room, will playback a requested song on my Sonos system but none of the other Alexas will do so.  I have tried everything I can think of to get them all to playback over Sonos but have come up empty.  Anyone have a clue how to fix this, assuming it can happen?   Help me obi-Wan, you’re my only hope… 

Does anyone know what elements of the "Alexa AudioPlayer interface" is not supported on Sonos One?The reason I ask, I have a skill that streams our radio station just fine on Amazon made speakers but plays only silence when the skill is enabled on Sonos One.   The skills interacts fine and says it is playing the station, but only silence is heard - no error prompts.  The station streams fine with the TuneIn skill but we would prefer to promote the "Get Me Radio" skill.  Wondering what I could tell the developers to help them determine why it fails only on Sonos speakers. p.s. I have disabled and re-enabled the skill many times...works consistently with Amazon speakers but fails with Sonos One, no matter what station I select.

When I use Pandora via my Echo Show 5, each song repeats once.  It doesn't happen with Alexa by itself, only when using Echo, or so I thought.  I've think what is happening is both the Alexa app and Echo are trying to control the speakers, so one is repeating the other. I remedied the problem (touch wood) by saying, "Alexa, stop," which stopped all music.  I changed the wake word on Echo from Alexa to Echo, so that the Alexa App and Echo don't both respond when I command one.  I restarted Pandora using Echo, and now playback is back to only once per song. I've seen two threads about this.  Both have been closed for comments, but Sonos indicated they'd look into the problem and then update the thread/s.  That was a year ago and, from what I can tell, no solution was ever posted.  I'm not sure if my discovery is a permanent fix, or a fix at all for that matter, but I thought it might give users somewhere to start and Sonos some idea as to what to investigate.

Any way to disable Amazon Music? When I say play whatever on Pandora,  Sonos plays Amazon music. Only by saying play whatever on F*** Pandora does Sonos play Pandora. Did Amazon buy Pandora? Are all non Amazon options going away? Regretting my buying decision.  Don’t like being guided into what I want to listen to.

I have two homes and two Sonos systems in each. In my first home, Alexa cooperates nicely and will allow me to control my speakers. But in the second home, Alexa is mute. Are there ways to set this up so that each works independently of one-another? thanks, Alan

My brother & I have both bought a Roam & both have same issue that it won’t work with Alexa or Spotify it just says need to get the skill and search for the device   I have 4 other Sonos devices all working fine when I look on Alex it shows the Roam but won’t connect

Hello, so here’s a weird one… We have a few Sonos speakers, including a Sonos Beam in the living room, with some Sonos Play speakers supplementing it, and a stereo-pair of Sonos Play in my office room and a single Sonos One in the bathroom (don’t ask).I have the speakers grouped into ‘Lounge’, ‘Bathroom’, ‘Office’, ‘Upstairs’, ‘Downstairs’ and ‘Everywhere’.This issue happens on Alexa, regardless of whether I ask the Sonos Beam in the living room, or the Sonos One in the bathroom.Sooo….  If I say to Alexa “Play Radio 2”, it will play BBC Radio 2 (from BBC Sounds) on that speaker, no problem.  However, if I say “Play Radio 2 in Bathroom”, or “Play Radio 2 in Lounge”, or “Play Radio 2 Upstairs”, or “Play Radio 2 Everywhere” (basically, asking for any particular speakers/room/group), it will play “S4-Radio Two from TuneIn”, whatever the hell that is! Alexa on Sonos will only play BBC R2 if I don’t specify a speaker, group or room, otherwise it’s this S4 thing.It doesn’t do this with other

I just bought my first Sonos One and having real difficulty with it. The microphone will not light up and I cannot enable the Sonos skill in the Alexa app. In fact, the two problems seem to be related from what I’ve read. The light will not come on until the Sonos skill is enabled on Alexa. When I try to enable the skill, Alexa tells me I have to link the speaker to my Sonos account first, but I’ve already done that

So you can’t change the wake word for Alexa on Sonos, and clearly lots of people in this community would like this functionality. My question is, how do we get that message to Sonos management directly? I’m thinking that posting that request in this forum is a post to the community, that is preaching to the converted.
