Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I just got my first Sonos, a Roam. I have Alexa enabled. I also have Wi-Fi color changing lights from Feit.  If tell the Alexa through the Roam to turn on the lights, it’s fine. If I tell it to change to a color, it tells me device not found. This isn’t an issue on my Amazon Alexa devices. Any idea how to fix this? Thank you in advance for your advice. 

HI - I have a Sonos Arc and I’d like to get the true surround sound experience and I’m thinking of getting a Sonos One (voice control) or Sonos SL (no voice control/microphone free).  The Arc has voice control - would getting the Sonos One be redundant to have another Amazon Alexa device in the room?  Any thoughts?  I’m thinking maybe I should just get a set of the Sonos SL - but - I thought if one day I move them to a room that doesn’t have the Arc..it might be nice to have the voice controls.  Any thoughts?  Thanks! - Kevin

just got my roam love it but voice control does not seem to work or am i misssing something ? say ‘ alexa ‘ as i do for the one or the echo but no reaction the white light is on to say mic is active plays music from app spoifiy etc not voice control any help be great thanks ( sorry if im being really thick which could be the case !! )

Hi everyone, At home we have a system comprised of: 1 x Arc1 x Beam1 x Play:11 x Play:5 All have been working as intended previously, and even after we first setup Alexa the system continued to work fine both via voice commands and through the Sonos App for a while. Recently though, it seems that the Alexa app is somehow stopping the Sonos app from seeing our speakers, as we can continue to control them via voice commands but the Sonos app consistently gives us the message “Unable to connect to Sonos”. Sometimes turning our wifi router off and on works, sometimes just turning it off and on in our iPhone device settings seems to reset things, but only temporarily and we then have issues adding things to the queue via the Sonos app.  Things we’ve tried:Following the app troubleshooting process (turn off all speakers, then back on, turn off router, then back on, discover devices etc. - This has limited and very temporary success) Deleting and re-downloading the Sonos app Reconnecting the

Priya Abani, director of Alexa Voice Service, announced in April 2018 that third-party Alexa-enabled devices will get calling and messaging abilities. In fact, since August 2018, these key Alexa features have been available on Eufy Genie - a third party Alexa-enabled gadget. Sonos, however, remains tight lipped about its plan. I received my Beam earlier this week and was really excited. I was planning on purchasing two more for the whole family. I'm so disappointed to find out that key features such as calling, messaging, and drop-in are not supported on Sonos Beam or One. It appears that Sonos has no plans to support these features at all. At first, I thought Amazon refuses to allow third-party gadgets to have these features. But, Eufy Genie, a 3rd-party device with an RRP of only $35 (and on sale for $15 on Amazon at time of this post), supports all these features. I would like to ask a couple of questions: Are these key Alexa features on the roadmap of Sonos Beam

Took delivery of my Sonos Roam today and discovered I can use it to sync Sonos with Amazon Echo Multi-Room Speaker groups. This is what I did:Connected an Echo Flex to the Roam via Bluetooth (the Echo Flex is part of an Echo Multi-Room Group).Played from Spotify to the Echo Multi-Room Group (including the Roam from the Echo Flex via Bluetooth).Played on all my Sonos speakers by grouping with the Roam in the Sonos App.Result: Synced musics on all Echo and Sonos speakers! 

Every couple weeks, Alexa stops responding to commands or stops responding consistently. For example, I can start playing something with a voice command but cannot stop playing or adjust the volume with a voice command despite hearing the acknowledgement chime. To fix this issue, I have to disable and re-enable Alexa several times before capabilities are restored.  Have others experienced this? Is there a long term fix that is known or in the works?

I’ve had my Beam for about a year and up until a month or so ago, it was working well with Alexa. Now however, for seemingly no reason, Alexa does not respond. The activity light doesn’t activate and no response is given when asking Alexa to do something. The audio from the beam continues to work when using my TV as a source. Troubleshooting steps I have taken:I have followed the steps in the support page here twice. It works after following all the steps but after 24 hours, stops working again.  I have tried to remove all speakers in my setup and re-add them. Again, this works for a short while, maybe 2-3 days before it stops again.I purchased a new router a couple of months ago (ASUS RT-AX82U) and is the only thing I can think of that might be causing this apart from a potential hardware issue on the beam. Has anyone had any similar issues to these?Thanks,Haydn

Whenever I launch BBC sounds app using Alexa, everything seems to work smoothly. Except for the news. Whenever I ask for the interactive BBC News, you hear the introduction and the summary of the news (about 30 seconds) and then it repeats the same 30 seconds over and over indefinitely until you ask to stop it. I have Alexa on an echo dot, on my Sonos One and on Sonos Arc. The Echo Dot has no problems. This issue only happens on Sonos One and Arc. I’ve tried everyting. Reset the sonos, reset the router, logged in and out of my accounts. Nothing works. Any advice? Thanks

Just taken delivery of my new Roam and keen to get using it. If I am away from home and my usual Wi-Fi network that I use Sonos with can I use Alexa by connecting to it to my iPhone personal hotspot and use my iPhone  data plan?

After 2 sessions with Apple and 3 sessions (3 hours) with Sonos Support each one sending me the other way I still can’t play my Library from my iMac to Sonos Playbar in the Lounge. It has worked ok for 5 years. Basically I get an error message when trying to load the Music Folder. They’ve checked Privacy and sharing options ad infinitum, no joyAny help greatly appreciated, I’m reasonable at Techo but not great Many Thanks Roger UK

i say volume 1 to my s1 but it does not go lower enough I then have to manually take the volume down

I have the BBC skill set up in Alexa and if I ask Alexa to 'play BBC Radio 2' it plays from my Echo Spot rather than the SONOS speakers that I set up as my preferred speakers in Alexa groups. If I disable the BBC app, then Alexa gives me a message saying something abut the previously enabled app is disabled do I want to enable it. To make it work I have to say 'Alexa play BBC Radio 2 in the Sitting Room'. If I say 'Alexa play Virgin Radio' (or any other radio station/music request) it plays through the SONOS speakers. I know this might be more of an Alexa question than a SONOS question but I'm asking just in case any of you SONOS experts have come across this and know a fix! Edit: I did do a search and found nothing, but now I've posted I see that this question has come up before although the answer is to do what I'm doing ie add 'in the sitting room' or 'from TuneIn' to the command, which isn't a really great solution.

I have the sonos play 1 with Alexa and wanted to use the drop in feature to call the echo dots around the house but can't seem to find this on the menu for the sonos has anyone got this working or is it not available if so will it be added to an update soon?

I just found a way to integrate my Sonos beam + 2 Ikea Symphonisk speakers with all my echo devices. To do this, I need to purchase sonos connect which I got it used around $100 and compatible with sonos 2 apps. Little background about my setup. I have sonos beam + 2 surround speakers at my living room. I have echo dot v.3 devices on all other rooms. If I want to play music in every rooms through alexa command, the Livingroom will be skipped because I don't have echo device in there. To bridge between Sonos and Alexa device, I use sonos connect and echo dot that I plugged into line-in of sonos connect. Once all connected and setup, I open sonos S2 app and go to sonos connect setting and change the "autoplay" to my "Livingroom" which essentially where my sonos beam is located. Here is the detail path to change autoplay setting: Open sonos app and go to setting - system - Choose room where sonos connect is setup. In my case, I name it "media room". HiOn all of my Sonos speakers, Moves &one’s.When asking Alexa To play an audible book, she begins to play, but if I ask her to be rewind one minute or any other amount of time she says “Nothing is currently playing “I have tried the same commands on a Amazon echo and it works fine.I have tried the same commands on a Amazon echo and it works fine.this used to work fine a couple of weeks ago I was only recently in the last 3 to 4 weeks stopped This used to work fine and then It suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago.In the Sonos app I have unauthorised and re-authorised my audible account and this has made no change, I have also rebooted all of my speakers and this has made no change.if I ask Alexa to play music from either Amazon or Apple it works fine and will also fast forward or rewind the time asked. Please help!  

I have a Gen 1 Sonos One in the kitchen, and a Gen 2 Sonos 1 in the living room as part of a surround-sound set-up. For a while, the speaker closest to me would respond when I said the wake word, but increasingly, despite virtually whispering in the kitchen, the living room would start playing. I’m guessing the improvements in the Gen 2 are making it a lot more reactive! Is there any way of manually tweaking the mic sensitivity so I can ensure the right speaker responds? 

Hello, I`m a Brazilian living in Spain and I think a lot of people living in different countries will understand my point. I have Alexa controlling my hose for a long time now an I like to speak in Brazilian portuguese with my Alexa (my mother language). I think other people living abroad would like the same if your language is officially under Alexa controls.Alexa is available in portuguese for a long time and all my echo devices and even devices embedded like Samsung and others work fine using the Alexa controls in portuguese.Now I bought a Sonos ARC and by my surprise I cannot put the embedded Alexa in portuguese. I don´t understand. I understand the app and the manual in english in just a few others, but why Alexa, that is a standard service from Amazon is not available in the languages already existent in the system.And to be even more surprised, I was look some old forums and seems that there is no plan to include more languages in Sonos. Is that true? Do we have a plan or a time

When I say to Alexa, “Alexa...play Miles Davis.” Alexa responds with, “Playing Miles Davis with John’s Spotify.” And then nothing …. just silence. I have disabled skills and re-enabled them; I have checked all connections; I have been sent to SONOS by Amazon - who tells me this is a Sonos issue. I am able to play music using Spotify through my SONOS system - but just not using Alexa. 

I’ve seen the support article on the available commands through the Alexa Sonos skill.  However, the command set it pretty limited.  I have some suggestions I would like to see implemented.  We have a Sonos Beam in our master bedroom...the kids’ bedrooms are right down the hall.  These would be helpful in automatically managing the device when my wife and i are watching TV at night:I have an Alexa routine to switch Night Mode on every night at 9pm.  However, there is no method to automatically switch it OFF the next morning.  I have to manually do this through the app.   The ability to control the bass level through Alexa.  I usually keep the bass level at around 8 or 9.  There’s a surprising amount of bass coming out of such a small soundbar.  I would like to be able to have the skill automatically turn down the bass and night and then back up the next morning. Others may have various reasons for wanting to control these features as well.  I’m not sure why one would create the method

I bought a sonos one (the first Sonos with voice control), but is not working. Why do you use that sentence if is not available everywhere?? Are you planning to do it available in Chile any time soon? @Sonos 

Hi All,I have a Sonos Connect:Amp (Gen1) and an Alexa. I can use the Sonos app to play Amazon music through the app, but I don't know how to hook the Alexa up with the Sonos so that when I give the Alexa verbal commands for it to play through the Amp.Can anyone give me any pointers? The Amp comes up in the Alexa app, and I've authorised Sonos in the app, but still :S
