Amazon Alexa and Sonos

After 2 sessions with Apple and 3 sessions (3 hours) with Sonos Support each one sending me the other way I still can’t play my Library from my iMac to Sonos Playbar in the Lounge. It has worked ok for 5 years. Basically I get an error message when trying to load the Music Folder. They’ve checked Privacy and sharing options ad infinitum, no joyAny help greatly appreciated, I’m reasonable at Techo but not great Many Thanks Roger UK

i say volume 1 to my s1 but it does not go lower enough I then have to manually take the volume down

I have the BBC skill set up in Alexa and if I ask Alexa to 'play BBC Radio 2' it plays from my Echo Spot rather than the SONOS speakers that I set up as my preferred speakers in Alexa groups. If I disable the BBC app, then Alexa gives me a message saying something abut the previously enabled app is disabled do I want to enable it. To make it work I have to say 'Alexa play BBC Radio 2 in the Sitting Room'. If I say 'Alexa play Virgin Radio' (or any other radio station/music request) it plays through the SONOS speakers. I know this might be more of an Alexa question than a SONOS question but I'm asking just in case any of you SONOS experts have come across this and know a fix! Edit: I did do a search and found nothing, but now I've posted I see that this question has come up before although the answer is to do what I'm doing ie add 'in the sitting room' or 'from TuneIn' to the command, which isn't a really great solution.

I have the sonos play 1 with Alexa and wanted to use the drop in feature to call the echo dots around the house but can't seem to find this on the menu for the sonos has anyone got this working or is it not available if so will it be added to an update soon?

I just found a way to integrate my Sonos beam + 2 Ikea Symphonisk speakers with all my echo devices. To do this, I need to purchase sonos connect which I got it used around $100 and compatible with sonos 2 apps. Little background about my setup. I have sonos beam + 2 surround speakers at my living room. I have echo dot v.3 devices on all other rooms. If I want to play music in every rooms through alexa command, the Livingroom will be skipped because I don't have echo device in there. To bridge between Sonos and Alexa device, I use sonos connect and echo dot that I plugged into line-in of sonos connect. Once all connected and setup, I open sonos S2 app and go to sonos connect setting and change the "autoplay" to my "Livingroom" which essentially where my sonos beam is located. Here is the detail path to change autoplay setting: Open sonos app and go to setting - system - Choose room where sonos connect is setup. In my case, I name it "media room". Go

HiOn all of my Sonos speakers, Moves &one’s.When asking Alexa To play an audible book, she begins to play, but if I ask her to be rewind one minute or any other amount of time she says “Nothing is currently playing “I have tried the same commands on a Amazon echo and it works fine.I have tried the same commands on a Amazon echo and it works fine.this used to work fine a couple of weeks ago I was only recently in the last 3 to 4 weeks stopped This used to work fine and then It suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago.In the Sonos app I have unauthorised and re-authorised my audible account and this has made no change, I have also rebooted all of my speakers and this has made no change.if I ask Alexa to play music from either Amazon or Apple it works fine and will also fast forward or rewind the time asked. Please help!  

I have a Gen 1 Sonos One in the kitchen, and a Gen 2 Sonos 1 in the living room as part of a surround-sound set-up. For a while, the speaker closest to me would respond when I said the wake word, but increasingly, despite virtually whispering in the kitchen, the living room would start playing. I’m guessing the improvements in the Gen 2 are making it a lot more reactive! Is there any way of manually tweaking the mic sensitivity so I can ensure the right speaker responds? 

Hello, I`m a Brazilian living in Spain and I think a lot of people living in different countries will understand my point. I have Alexa controlling my hose for a long time now an I like to speak in Brazilian portuguese with my Alexa (my mother language). I think other people living abroad would like the same if your language is officially under Alexa controls.Alexa is available in portuguese for a long time and all my echo devices and even devices embedded like Samsung and others work fine using the Alexa controls in portuguese.Now I bought a Sonos ARC and by my surprise I cannot put the embedded Alexa in portuguese. I don´t understand. I understand the app and the manual in english in just a few others, but why Alexa, that is a standard service from Amazon is not available in the languages already existent in the system.And to be even more surprised, I was look some old forums and seems that there is no plan to include more languages in Sonos. When I say to Alexa, “Alexa...play Miles Davis.” Alexa responds with, “Playing Miles Davis with John’s Spotify.” And then nothing …. just silence. I have disabled skills and re-enabled them; I have checked all connections; I have been sent to SONOS by Amazon - who tells me this is a Sonos issue. I am able to play music using Spotify through my SONOS system - but just not using Alexa.

I bought a sonos one (the first Sonos with voice control), but is not working. Why do you use that sentence if is not available everywhere?? Are you planning to do it available in Chile any time soon? @Sonos

I can use the Sonos app to play Amazon music through the app, but I don't know how to hook the Alexa up with the Sonos so that when I give the Alexa verbal commands for it to play through the Amp.Can anyone give me any pointers? The Amp comes up in the Alexa app, and I've authorised Sonos in the app, but still :S

So the sting of not being able to add my beam to a group of dots and echos is still unsettling as I have a nice soudbar that only plays TV music. Is it possible to disable the built in alexa and use the beam as a Bluetooth speaker so I can stream music from alexa all over the house. I have a group of echos/dots that as in every room except the room with the beam.  My bad for not doing better research and thinking it says alexa built in and that she would have the same functions as other alexa devices. My hatred for the beam is growing the more I find its limitations.  I am about to have to have a separate speaker downstairs just to play the same music upstairs and down at the same time and only use the beam for TV.  Not sitting well.   Is there any option to use the beam as a "dumb" speaker and connect it to a dot/echo?  Not even seeing an auction jack 

Why is Alexa follow up  mode not available on Arc?  Other Sonos products have it.

I have a son who loves listening to audible audiobooks via his Sonos One, but recently the ability to select a chapter or rewind a book has broken. If an audible audiobook is started via the Sonos app on a Sonos One, you can then say “Alexa, go back five minutes” or “Alexa, go to chapter two”, and everything works. If you start the audiobook by saying “Alexa, read bookname”, it just answers “Nothing is currently playing” Sonos App 12.0.4

I use Alexa and Spotify with my Sonos system and have been for a couple of years.I currently have:Sonos One (Gen 1) Move Play:1 Play:5 (Gen 2) Amazon Echo Dot (4th Generation).Playing music using Spotify or the Sonos app works as intended.I have every speaker in the same group, so whenever Alexa was asked to play it would play everywhere.On or around the 22nd of March I experienced issues with playing music on my Move using the built in Alexa. It would constantly respond with “Sorry, that device is offline” when asked to play specifically on itself. Asking Alexa to play on any other device worked fine. Both the Echo Dot and Sonos One would play music everywhere when asked.I figured I would disable and enable the Sonos skill in the Alexa app but that didn’t help. I am trying to add a voice service using Amazon device and sonos app returned error due to geographic restrictions, I am currently using alexa properly on my Echo plus device, when would be available Sonos support for Colombia?

(Several years ago I know this was not possible, but it seems like some people have successfully done this, so I’m hoping there’s a solution!)I have a Sonos One and a Beam, plus an Alexa Echo Show 8. I’ve installed the Sonos skill to my Alexa account so now I can say, “Alexa, play the Beatles in kitchen”, or whatever and that works. However, it only works for streaming services, not my local iTunes library.Next, I installed the My Media for Alexa server on my Mac and installed that skill in the Echo. I can now say, “Alexa, ask My Media to play [song from local library]” and that will work. However it will only play it on the Echo. (Saying, “Alexa, ask My Media to play [song from local library] in kitchen” doesn’t work - it just ignores the “in kitchen” part.)So, is there a solution to get me to the finish line where I can tell Alexa to play [artist/title/whatever]

Is it better to control all, accessing Fire TV and Prime Music through ARC or through Cube - along with Lutron lights?  My preference, I think, is run all through Sonos ARC so I can store away Cube in cabinet.Thoughts?

I have a Sonos Port that I’m trying to control all of my speakers downstairs. I created a group called downstairs in the Alexa app and my Sonos Port shows up. However when I go to the Sonos App it doesn’t show up. When I tell Alexa to play music down stairs it says “Playing music on downstairs. Sorry I cannot play music on downstairs. Sorry something went wrong” and that’s it. I have already removed all products from Sonos and Alexa apps and also removed the Sonos skill from the Alexa app and then reconnected all of my devices and still nothing. In different rooms upstairs I have a few Sonos ones and they all work with the Alexa and show up in my Sonos App. Any thoughts on how I can get Alexa to control my port? Or could it be an issue with the port itself?

Hello all! Has anyone experience alexa wouldn’t change the volume on the Beam  regardless of what volume commands you give it and its always “device is at volume 6” manually changing the volume by tv remote and the touch control it still works as normal. For example if i decrease the volume on the touch controls , the volume does decrease and when asking alexa what the volume is, it would be still at 6.   

Hello, just installed 2 Sonos Arc, 1 Beam and 3 Sonos One. I have 2 Amazon Echo’s.  Can these play teh same music or extend the TV from the sound bars?TIAI am brand new and sorry if this is to simple.
