Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hi All,Recently I’ve noted that my Sonos Play One (Alexa control switched off) no longer ducks when I make an Alexa request to the Dot that is part of the Dining Room Group.  The Sonos is the preferred speaker in this group, and it’s frustrating having to BELLOW commands to Alexa as the Play One no longer lowers the volume when an Alexa request is made.Is anyone else seeing this issue ….. again!?Cheers,Ripface

I have 2 tvs each with a Beam. When I say Alexa turn on tv it is turning on the wrong tv (1)..did not behave like this before. I have disconnect voice assistant on tv 1 but it still understands the on command and tv 2 does not.

I ask Alexa to “Play The Rolling Stones”. Alexa responds with “This Is The Rolling Stones from Spotify”. Nothing happens. I have tried uninstalling Alexa and Installing Google Assistant. Same result. Have reset the One back to factory settings. Have installed and uninstalled the Sonos app. No joy. Nothing on the Sonos status page to indicate any outages or problems. Not a good introduction to Sonos for my first product bought yesterday. Any solutions or suggestions welcomed. Thanks I ask my (old) Pure Discovr the same thing via Alexa and “This Is The Rolling Stones” Spotify playlist starts playing.

Why doesnt my sonos 1 with alexa complete my verbal command to 'play Jazz on Pandora'?  Sonos 1 repeats: 'playing jazz on Pandora' BUT-- doesnt play the station at all, just silence.   However, when I use sonos 1 via sonos app/room, it plays the pandora station I requested? How can I fix this?

Hi,I'm using Alexa on my Sonos Move in French being based in France since 18monthsSomewhen in the last 6 months, it started to switch to English randomly during the process, for example during the flash update, starting in French and suddenly switch to English. It is annoying when Alexa is reading something and is reading a French text with an English accent.I made the test in all the other Amazon built Alexa devices I have and do not experience this issue. I also delinked and relinked my Amazon account to my Sonos Move + update it, all of this didn't change anything.Any idea?   

I have enabled Alexa on my Sonos One and Roam speakers. One is in the master bedroom the other is in the master bath. I created a group for bedroom and I e doe bathroom. I then combine them into a group call upstairs. Both rooms and both speakers show up in the new combined group. But when I say Alexa play <Spotify playlist> on Upstairs" it only plays on the bedroom Sonos. I have deleted the group and recreates it but nothing I do seems to get music on both speakers. No idea what is going wrong here.

Hi Had the Arc set up with Alexa voice control. All fine until yesterday. Alexa stopped responding. Went into settings to cancel, then re enabled and working again.  Just wondered how/why this happened and how often it’s likely to occur. Thanks

I am using the Alexa skill Sleeping Jar for many years now, and I'm using it on my Sonos devices since day 1 of the Alexa integration.Since the recent FW update 15.6 the skill no longer works correctly. The noises of the skill are played back in an endless loop, meaning they play until you stop it. This worked perfectly fine also on Sonos devices, but after the recent FW update to version 15.6, the playback ends after one hour. I'm not sure if this is the length of one loop, or if it's a limit within the Sonos code, but it definitely is an issue introduced by Sonos FW 15.6. The issue is present on all my Sonos devices, while the skill works perfectly fine on my Echo devices.I am aware of the potential alternatives within the Sonos universe - none of them is an alternative for me. Let alone that I'm paying for the Pro version of the skill.Thanks for looking into this.

Hi,i would like to know wich service IS better.It seems like sonos voici control recognize more song by Deezer than Alexa xith Spotify.However Deezer app doesn't connect to sonos Era 100 like Spotify does.So i don't know wich one to choose

I have an Echo Dot in my lounge and also a Sonos Amp connected to non Sonos speakers. I also have other Sonos speakers in other rooms. If I ask my Dot to play something on the Lounge Amp it always plays to my Kitchen Play 1! I can also ask it to play on my other Sonos speakers in other rooms which it will do. However if I ask it to play on my Lounge it always plays in the kitchen! Whatever process I try, I just can’t get it to play to my Amp despite following online instructions.Help please. Thanks. 

Hi, Just bringing up the problem with Audible stopping after a few minutes when initiated using Alexa on Sonos. Did this ever get properly resolved? We have the same issue here. I’ve read a few threads but as far as I can see there is still no resolution to this after many months. Apologies if I am missing the obvious but I haven’t found an answer. I’ve raised this with Audible too but they are not being a great deal of help. This is a deal breaker for us. If we can’t get Audible working properly when controlled with Alexa, we’ll have to sell our Sonos products and look for a different platform. This probably suits Amazon because Echo devices may well be our only option, but it doesn’t really work well for Sonos. It would be a shame though. I love our Sonos system. Audible works fine when controlled through the Sonos app, it’s only the voice control that causes problems, but as a household we all read audio books veraciously, so this is a big deal. Thanks.

I posted this over two years ago, and still the issue persists, surely I can’t be the only one affected by this? Original post: I always use Alexa to set the volume on my Sonos system (Beam, Sub and 2xOne SL) I usually ask her to confirm the volume once set, but now she is reporting it incorrectly. So if the volume was set to 1 initially and I ask Alexa to set volume to 3 then ask “Alexa, what is the volume for living room?” She will advise that volume is 1, even though it’s set to 3 as she is now louder.Steps I’ve taken to fix:Disable and enable the Sonos skill in the Amazon Alexa App. Removed the Alexa voice service in the Sonos app and added it again too and powered off the Sonos beam. All to no availHowever, what I did notice was Alexa would confirm the correct volume level after enabling the Sonos Skill in the Alexa App or removing and adding the Alexa voice service in the Sonos app, it was only when I asked Alexa to increase the volume and asked her to confirm the volume for Livi

Whenever I lose power the Sonos system (5 devices) no longer are recognized by the Sonos app. I try dozens of times to reset.  No luck.  Amazon Alexa has no issues, reconnects right away and allows me to control the devices in seconds.  Typically after a week, the Sonos app starts to control again without any intervention by me. Does anyone else experience something like this? Thanks! 

Surely in 2003, two company’s with different objectives could at least work together in a modern world and provide an integrated solution….Sonos sound is amazin, my house is full of it - fantastic integration with Apple and Amazon has not improved In years whilst a phone is “a” place to choose music - surely a central control centre in the household is still a great asset to a system - perhaps the likes of an Amazon show? An amazon show cannot even communicate nor stream/airplay music to a Sonos speaker - yet both claim to be “so” compatible with each otherI have seen a few posts about this now and people saying they prefer wires? WTF?The amazon show can even show movies….Is it really to much to as that whilst preparing a meal in the kitchen say, that the Amazon show can be used as the household central control device, the words of the song appear right there on its screen and the music PUMPS out not only it’s little crappy speaker but the FULL Sonos sound system and all its beauty - n

I’m having trouble linking the Sonos App with Alexa can’t set up voice control any help much appreciated 

When using Sonos Alexa to stream BBC radio via BBC Sounds, or music from Amazon Music, I experience frequent (every minute or two) frustrating interruptions of a few seconds in the play back which just go on and on until I get fed-up and I stop trying to listen. If I monitor the playback on the Sonos app whenever there is an interruption the message is displayed “Unable to play song ‘song’ - the song is not encoded correctly. ”When I use Alexa on Sonos to access other streaming services (Greatest Hits radio for example) the radio service streams OK without interruptions….and if I connect my iPad to the same wi-fi point as the one used by Sonos and use BBC Sounds/Alexa/Amazon music on my iPad and AirPlay the stream to my Sonos it also works ok (no interruptions).So I only get a problem when using Sonos Alexa to stream the BBC Radio / Amazon Music content…..I’ve seen lots of posts about this error which generally try to blame the network the sonos is connected to….but streaming radio/mus

Is there any update on the support for Alexa multiroom music (MRM) support on Sonos? I just purchased a Sonos Beam with the understanding that it supported Alexa groups. I learned after setting it up, that while it can be added to an Alexa group, it can’t be added to a speaker group with Echo devices. I understand that Amazon released the software to implement multiroom music support in 2018 (link below) and that at least the Polk Command Bar supports this functionality. Is there any possibility that Sonos will add this capability to the Beam? Hi All, I’m resurrecting this question which was asked three years ago as it’s suddenly started happening after years of stability. Problem Description:Streaming via Alexa to Sonos. Command “Alexa Skip” is registered by Amazon but the command is not executed on Sonos. At this point the system is pretty much in auto mode. It can be stopped and the volume can be changed but that’s about it. Any streaming content has to be stopped before I can switch to a different channel / playlist from Amazon. Album art is not shown on Sonos app. “Next track” is greyed out on Sonos app. Typically, this happens from the second track onward. Configuration:Stereo pair of Sonos 1 speakers linked with a Sonos Roam. Running the most recent version of firmware. Connectivity is via WiFi on a very stable network with strong signal strength. WAN is bidirectional gigabit. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

A specific radio station in TuneIn called “Radio Italia” can't be run by voice, but it play when launched by the app

Hi,I recently bought the Era 100. It all works fine except for being able to play music on voice command.Alexa responds to other voice commands like alarms, the weather, accessing radio stations via Tune In etc. But when I say "Alexa, play [so and so] on Spotify" Alexa responds by saying "Here is [so and so] on Spotify". But nothing after that happens.I also own a Sonos One and it worked fine. But ever since I bought the Era 100 (I had to update the Sonos app to setup) now the Sonos One doesn't work for music requests either.I've disabled the skill in the Alexa app and reinstalled, reinstalled sonos app, added alexa voice service but nothing helps. Any help would be appreciated. 

My Move recently quit playing music on Amazon via Alexa. When I ask Alexa to play a song title it states unable to access Amazon Music or something to that effect. Alexa will reply with weather, questions, etc just not music. The Amazon and Sonos app are up to date and the Sonos skill is active in the Alexa app. Can anyone please provide me with an answer. Thanks in advance for your help

When I try to link to an Alexa account someone else's Amazon account is displayed and it will let me select my own Alexa account. It also won't allow me to sign out or deselect the other person's Alexa account.
