Amazon Alexa and Sonos

All set up; couldn't get the Alexa App on to Mac (should I be able to?) si I Used Sonos App in the 'Skills' section and added from there. When that didn't work for voice recon. I tried my wife's phone (I don't carry one). Sonos App recognises where it is in the house etc. using both. and I added Spotify / radio stations etc. . On the Alexa side it recognises the speaker and where it is plus I added Spotify there. ie. I think it's all in place. Speaker can play radio etc. (white light on top but the voice activation thing... nothing. Any ideas what I've missed??

Hi, I'm looking to add Alexa to an exiting Sonos setup and want Alexas response to come through my Connect:AMP which already exists. Is this possible with the echo dot? If not is, if I get a Sonos One and create a zone with the Sonos One and the Connect:AMP will the response only come through the Sonos One speaker or will it come through both the Sonos One and the speakers connected to the Sonos Connect:AMP? Thanks

Should I be able to command the Play:1 with my voice? I have Alexa set up on the Sonos One working fine, but the Play: 1 does not respond. I have voice services set up on the Sonos One, but there does not seem to be a way to enable it on the Play:1. ****I found a response saying only the Sonos One has a microphone.

I have the Sonos One with Alexa and most of the time the "Alexa" command doesn't wake up the player, I have to say Alexa many times like A L E X A , Alexa!!!, A-L-E-X-A, etc, I don't know why most of the time doesn't work, anybody know why?

Hooked up play 5 to my echo dot through line in but Alexa’s voice is really low. I tried everything. Need answers.

I have a US Amazon account since Alexa isn't available in Canada yet. However, my way older Sonos account is registered in Canada. So when I've tried to use Alexa, the Sonos app says I can't because it isn't available in my region. Any way around this?

I too am very disappointed with the Sonos One I just purchased. Sonos should never have released this product in countries where all of Alexa’s features were not fully supported and functional. What they have done is tarnished their reputation. My One is back in the box and will be returned. Shame on Sonos. 😞

"Alexa, play classical music on dining room" Alexa starts classical focus from amazon on dining room sonos. After one selection, sonos goes quiet. Sonos app shows nothing playing. I can ask alexa to play classical music again, and again it plays just one selection and stops.

Creating a Smart Home not so easy !

My Sonos one is working with Alexa, but won't link to Spotify and is showing as offline on the Alexa app even though it is is online. E.g. I can add to the shopping list but via Sonos/Alexa but it doesn't show on the app. More importantly, I can't play from premium Spotify account from Sonos.

I recently shuffled a Spotify Playlist via Alexa, with the command 'shuffle release radar playlist on office'. This worked OK, but now whenever I attempt to play back any Spotify Album via Alexa, it is always shuffled too. The shuffle setting is turned off in my app.

Apologies if this issue has already been addressed in another post - but hoping someone can offer some guidance... I've set up my Sonos One, downloaded the apps (Sonos and Alexa) and everything appears to be working as it should, except Alexa can no longer play radio stations (either through TuneIn or the BBC skill) and can no longer play music through Amazon Music. I either get an error of Kitchen is offline at the moment, something went wrong or in the case of the BBC skill get the opening music and introduction and after making a request (e.g. play radio 4) get silence and the jingle again. The Sonos One is online (I can ask Alexa general questions and she will respond) however these key functions refuse to work. 😠

Hello! Is there any compatibility coming soon for Alexa to read my Kindle ebooks or Audiobooks on Sonos ONE? Would really like for this to happen soon. I may have to buy a dot to achieve this but I know that route won’t actually play the sound through the Sonos ONE, but only through Dot. 😞

I was wondering if there was a way to connect the dot and make all sound from the dot speaker come out of the sonos speakers. Currently I have a playbar and 2 Sonos Ones as surround speakers. I use it for music more than I do tv but I use it for both. I love Alexa. I’m planning on buying 2 play 3 speakers to replace the rear speakers and using a dot for the Alexa so I can move the Sonos One speakers into my open kitchen/living room area. Any help would be thankful.

I can control Sonos One (bedroom) and Sonos Playbar (Den) with Alexa Echo Plus - no problem. My question is weather I can play same music on all three devices at the same time.

Just setup the Sonos One. All steps were followed and setup went smoothly, However it is not responding to any commands. It does acknowledge the command where I ask to play music, but doesn't complete the action. Diag-8022698

I changed the name of one of my device's in Sonos but then it was not linking to my smarthings nor Alexa app. So I deleted the device in smarthings and Alexa. However I am unable to now discover the device. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling apps, rebooting the Sonos device in question and rebooting the router.i have another device which is fine and if I delete this other device and rediscover Alexa discovers it. I'm not sure how to connect my second device back to Alexa or smarthings. Can someone please help.

Hi. Is it possible to get a list of things sonos is working on in relation to alexa's dire voice control. We know theyve said google assistant is in the pipeline, audible has been mentioned to. What about services like napster and locally stored music? Are they being worked on or were the numerous requests for these services just placed on the shelf labelled "if we ignore it, they will go away."

Hi I am in Australia. I already have sonos in several rooms. In Australia Amazon Alexa will finally launch soon. If I buy a new sonos smart speaker, will it integrate Alexa with all my speakers, or (surely not) am I supposed to replace the entire existing sonos speaker network in order to integrate Alexa completely?

Starting to get tee hang of this. 4 Sonos devices and 1 echo dot here. Cancelled Deezer and have Amazon unlimited 30 day trial (not the limited echo music service). I can start multiple Amazon streams via the app without issue, and I can start one Amazon stream by voice ok. However if I start a second Amazon stream in another room by voice, Echo says that Amazon music is streaming on another device, would I like to stream on {room name} instead?’. Is this expected behaviour? Thanks Andrew

Hi all. I have a Sonos Play 1 in my bedroom and Play 3 in my living room. Alexa plays as requested on either speaker. When I aske her to play on both speakers she says to go on Alexa app and look out groupings there, but it doesn’t work for Sonos speakers. So is Alexa (Echo Dot) unable to deal with a play on all speakers command?

Like many other threads, my sonos one also has the problem which the Alexa is almost deaf for the wake word. I don't know when will the problem be fixed, and how good the result will be, and every time I contact sonos support only got "cloud updating", but nothing has changed. I think I might just return it within the period. This is quite frustrating, it's the first time I bought sonos products, I love the sound quality, but Alexa is almost useless.

I’ve purchased 2 play ones, 2 Alexa Sonos, playbar, 2 x 2nd gen play 5, 2 x 3 , Sonos Sub and Audible does not work- the whole point was for the ability to listen to my books around the house... I’m god father to the head of buying at John Lewis and frankly I’m very disappointed in John Lewis for selling a product that is functionally flawed and you should instruct ALL sales people To state categorical that Sonas Alexa IS NOT the same as Alexa ... I plan on returning all products... Please advise if it’s true that Sonos Alexa doesn’t work with Audible and Messaging and Calling features Alexa has (the non Sonos version) Also what are Sonos doing to inform client at the point of sale as this is like selling a car with only 2 wheels
