Have a chat with other Sonos owners. What's going on in the world of music and technology? What's playing?

Ok, had enough. I have a Sonos set up in three rooms which I only ever use when I have company and only for low background music. Because I use it rarely, when I do start it up I am told to get updates and I can not use the system until I get them. Just when I just want to start it and go away (I have guests remember). Finally today I sat down and clicked the Get Updates link and, of course, there was an error and I was told to try again, and again, and again. So I just went over to my Stereo and pushed one button and I had music, instantly, mind you I did have to turn down the volume but that took about 1.5 seconds. I spent a fair amount on money thinking that I was buying quality and convenience. The quality is not that great and there seems to be no convenience at all with the Sonos system. So, the question is, is there any way to set it so that it will ignore updates? After all, it works well enough the way it is and does not need updates.
why can't you save the sound settings on a sonos arc ultra for different sound sources, this would be a great improvement, save you ajusting the controls all the time for different sources.I also realized that the same sound source will change depending upon how it was recorded, but at least it would be a starting position that may not have to be altered as frequently.one for streaming music, Dolby atmos, movies, etc ‘this can be added to the app, saved memory.or is this available but I cannot find it.
Just wondering if it's safe to update my apps Currently running S2. Have some speakers to add but have been holding off because the version I have works (somewhat) and it won't let me add without updating...Thanks
My right channel Sonos Five was knocked off its 1m pedestal, and tumbled down a 7 step flight of wooden stairs to rest on the tile floor.Remarkably, they APPEAR to function flawlessly despite a deep dent in the face-mesh.Will this definitely shorten the lifespan of the speaker, or have I dodged a bullet?
Would it be possible to have the battery charge gauge on the first page of the settings for the Roam?
Suggestions for a compatible receiver?? Something more midrange price?
Would be really nice to add an “automations” feature to the Sonos app so that you could schedule songs/playlists throughout the day and week. currently I’m having to use the alarm feature to accomplish this and it’s not ideal set all and it is more of a workaround.. it’s a little bit buggy, there’s a limit to how many alarms you can set. Often times it doesn’t play the song or playlist it defaults to the Sonos chime. Currently my only other options would be to use some sort of third-party application Which is also not ideal. Please consider adding this new functionality to the Sonos app. Thanks!
Hi everyone,I'd like to share some concerns I have about Sonos's OAuth implementation, user security, etc. Some feedback would be appreciated. Background: How I Got HereLike many Sonos users, I often listen to music from various online platforms, some that broadcast directly in my web browser (protonradio.com, soundcloud). Wanting to stream this browser-based audio to my Sonos speakers, I discovered a third-party Chrome extension called "Cast to Sonos," which initially appeared to meet my needs perfectly. However, after installing and configuring the extension, some aspects of this setup led me to investigate further. Note, I am not a developer, I discovered this through my research.Discovering the IssuesI found that the "Cast to Sonos" Chrome extension: Unnecessarily uses cloud-based OAuth authentication through Sonos's API. Sonos typically allows straightforward, secure audio streaming and playback control via local APIs (UPnP or HTTP) over the user's local network without OAuth. Thi
Dear Sonos,I have enjoyed your product and software for many years. As a young music lover, I have been raised to enjoy music 24/7, playing seamlessly throughout my house, apartment, and whatever I have lived in. This is exactly why I loved your product so very much, seamless music integration throughout the entire house, with an intuitive interface so I could play whatever my heart desires, with decent quality at a minimum. However, ever since you decided to update the software and driver system, you have dragged me down into a deep, deep darkness, in which I feel I am unable to escape. I am too deep into Sonos to switch to Bose or other more successful competitors, although it would probably help my mental health tremendously. Will you pay for my therapy, Sonos?Though I have deeply appreciated your service, I now resent you as a company with a deep, fiery, passion. You first took my money, but now you have taken my patience and mental well-being. You turned something I once enjoyed, i
Hi !Do you know if the Sonos line-in adapter works in line in on a Mac Studio. Is it possible to use it to record sound from analog source by this way. I want to be able to record a stereo analog source audio in the Mac Studio. Does it appears in mac audio menu like an audio record input ?Thanks !
I’ve had Sonos now from the early days when they first started, but recently I’m seriously considering finding a different set up!! Sonos is now so unreliable, zones cutting out, then coming back on again, then not working at all!! It never used to be like this! I have upgraded all of my zones from the S1 equipment, and these seem awful, especially for the upgrade prices!! I have a very stable internet connection. SONOS YOU NEED TO SORT THIS OUT BEFORE CUSTOMERS START GOING ELSEWHERE!!
I used the previous app with previous speakers. I see the posts by Sonos about bringing updates finally, but I am going to post and see if it's not just me asking these things. There's bugs, UI issues we could moan about, and hopefully things do get ironed out in that regard. I'm on Android and remember the old app. I could access all my purchased and CD ripped files and play them through the app, and also a basic piece of functionality - accessing play and volume controls from the notification drop down area. The latter is easier than finding and opening the app again. Will these things be implemented? More importantly. Will they be implemented before sonos makes an S3 app and asks me to upgrade my speakers again? What's going on? I thought this wasn't asking a lot, having what I expected to have. But it's taking an absolute age, and I don't know it will ever be as good as before. Am I alone thinking these things should just be there by now? I mean.... Man... Jeez. 😔
The Loudness Control option in the Sonos App for a room/zone is typically not required to be active. Loudness by definition is really only needed to boost bass and treble frequencies when listening at low volumes.Therein lies the conundrum (so to speak) as “listening at low volumes” can be subjective based upon one’s preference and/or hearing. The best way to determine if “Loudness” should be active is to listen to your music at YOUR preferred level and toggle the Loudness on and off to see if there is a noticeable difference. It’s been my subjective experience that the “loudness” option extenuates frequencies to a level just below distortion at my prefered listening level. Therefore, Loudness is off for all my rooms/zones.Try toggling Loudness on/off to determine your preferred setting.
As much as I LOVED Sonos the first few years, this system has turned into the most aggravating product I’ve ever owned. It is constantly losing connection with my devices or doesn’t see them at all. We constantly troubleshoot, reboot, move things, reinstall, and on and on so don’t tell me we haven’t tried. I’m on here so the owners of this company know that many of their customers are unhappy. No product at this price level should be this unreliable. We have not changed any of our WiFi or routers during this time or added any other products, so I know it’s nothing we’ve done. Ever since they kept doing the updates, it has been a nightmare. I would never purchase this product again. Should have stuck with our Bose system.
I bought a Beam 2 a couple of days ago - my first venture into Sonos territory. After hours of trying to connect the soundbar to my Samsung TV, I got tired of being in an endless loop of inputs on the App and making no progress. I tried every expedient including several factory resets on the TV and soundbar, rebooting the router etc., but I could not get the TV to detect the soundbar. Finally, I got the message - sometimes you have to know when to fold. I reconnected a Samsung soundbar in less than 5 minutes using the same cables and HDMI eArc. I suspect the root of the problem is a bug in the App.
Hi, Hoping someone can shed some light on frustrating situation. I live in Canada and went to a local Visions Electronics Shop in my city. I ordered Arc Ultra, Sub G4, pair of Era 300. This was on March 11. They still have not received my order, sales guys says it was excepted on March 31st, then delayed to April 4th. I called them today and it’s still not in. He says Sonos never gives them an exact date. Is all of this normal with Sonos? Thanks
my Sonos experience has been truly horrible. We have several products a fantastic network, and we cannot get them to work in unison to sync. One will start playing and stop playing instantly. Another one will start playing and stop playing instantly half the time the majority of the speakers don’t even show then an hour later they’ll all be showing. It’s just a ridiculous product in a ridiculous service for the amount of money that we’ve paid for all of these speakers
I’m using a Sonos Beam (Gen 2) with two Sonos One speakers as surrounds. While the system works great for movies, it’s disappointing when listening to music through TV apps like YouTube or Deezer.Even though these apps play stereo music, the system treats everything from the HDMI ARC port as “TV audio,” which forces the surrounds into Ambient or minimal surround mode. This results in weak, unengaging sound — the opposite of what I expect from a premium Sonos setup.Feature request: Add a toggle in the app to "Force Music Mode" or "Stereo Mode" for TV inputs — letting users choose when they want their full system to play rich stereo audio from all speakers, regardless of the source being a TV app. This would dramatically improve the experience for people who use their TVs to stream music videos, playlists, or DJ sets via YouTube or Deezer — a very common use case today.Suggested implementation: “Force Music Mode for TV sources” toggle per room. Or allow users to assign a “Music Playback
I have a Sonance 6.1 system and I’m wanting to know if I can add two additional speakers
So I received an email today - “The price is right” - offering two Era 100s for $298, down from their regular price of $498. (See screenshot below). The price is actually very WRONG. If you click the Shop Now button you find out:The sale price is actually $378 (!) down from the regularly price of $398 (!!)What on earth is happening over there? Did the re-org put the App team in marketing?
Got this in my email.
Still wondering when the step in CEO will ever make a comment/ post on this total app blunder that Sonos has created. So many still having issues according to the posts I read..here and in the FB Sonos groups.
Dear Sonos Team,I am writing to express my profound frustration with the Sonos app on macOS. For over a year, the app has been unable to detect my Sonos speakers, rendering it virtually useless. Despite numerous attempts to troubleshoot—reinstalling the app, updating macOS, and ensuring all devices are on the same network—the problem persists. This ongoing issue has significantly diminished my experience with your products.I am not alone in this frustration. Many users have reported similar problems on various forums, highlighting a widespread issue with the Sonos app on Mac. For instance, a user on the Sonos Community forum mentioned that their Sonos desktop app stopped working correctly on their MacBook Pro, displaying a message saying, "Searching for your Sonos System..." and failing to connect.Sonos CommunityAdditionally, a thread on the same forum discusses how the Sonos app on Mac cannot see speakers all of a sudden, even after restarting the speakers, rebooting the Mac, and rest
Hiare there any release notes to this update available?thanksDom
I cut my DirectTV cable a few months ago and have been streaming Video. I have my TV’s connected to SONOS Soundbars along with surounds everthing works great. In the past it has been shut off the TV turn on dinner music. Tonight rather than listen to my playlists I selected Pandora, Amazon is there too. Sorry this is on my Apple TV. It is easy to just select pick what you want and also sounds great. However it only plays on the SONOS products connected to the TV. Most of the searches for how to play SONOS on your TV deal with connecting your speakers to the TV directly or ith AirPlay. I want to see the SONOS App on my APPLE TV scren. I can then select where and what music to plqy via my Hardware Apple TV. I can do it with my phone or laptop. i know that SONOS and Apple had a deal together awhile ago and I am aware of Apple Music which I do not subscribe to. Just asking if and how to do this? Also I saw Orto for SONOS that claims to do this but have no further informatin on it. Thanks
