I currently own a Beam with two One SL's. I wish to connect my vinyl record player to my Sonos set-up  so i was thinking about getting a Sonos port. Now I read that the port does not support the sub or sub mini. Will I be able to connect a sub to my current set-up, and use that together with the port to listen to my vinyls? I do not own a separate sound system other than mentioned Sonos set-up.

I recently bought a Sonos Arc, upgrading from the Beam Gen 2. It’s amazing on Atmos, but non Atmos content just doesn’t have the same power of Atmos content. Like, the sub barely works and the audio is just sort of weak. 

Hi - I just received the Arc and new 300s yesterday.  I installed each of them separately into my sonos system in the same room.  However, in the app, when I try to “add surrounds” to my Arc, the 300s do not appear as an option and instead the only options are my AMPs (which are in different rooms).  Any advice? 

I have just updated the software to 15.8.1 as it requires update to my Sonos Roam and then after the update, all music services disappeared and even my NAS musics are unplayable. Moderator note: We updated this article in October 2023 with new information below.This behavior was due to a Sonos cloud outage at that time that is now resolved. I have 4 Sonos speakers in my home. I have 2 iPhones that belong to 2 different people that have different music apps.  Now I want to hook up to use those 4 speakers. Should each iPhone have its own Sonos account?

I have not been able to update what I think are the last two updates to the Sonos S1 controller on my macbook pro. I click on update now (in the black S1 pane), it does some things and requires my password. I do that and it says: Sonos update failed. An unexpected error occurred, please try again. And that happens every time. (So while the error is unexpected to Sonos, it is very much expected by me). This seems like a longlasting bug (several months). Is there a fix?

Hi,Just a heads up really - I’ve got a mixture of managed and unmanaged switches on my network and they all work fine, but the GS108PEv3 switch messes up the entire network when plugged into a SONOS device. I think the issue is it’s a semi-smart switch that doesn’t support STP, but it probably knows enough about it, so it’s presumably stripping that data from the packets.Avoid!

Hi all, Trying to reconnect both of my Sonos amps and port back online and having connection issues. Before Spectrum came out and replaced the router and modem it work fine.  So the amps are recognized but when I put my new WiFi pw in it says there was a problem and the msg is this. When I called Spectrum they said they flipped it to 2.4 for 1 hr to give me time to connect and it’ll go back then to normal. Still would not connect. Hi,  I'm moving into a new place where the developer and working with an audio company who specialise in Sonos. They are offering to install the Sonos Amp with the Arc soundbar and sonnance wall and ceiling speakers with an LG TV.  I already have a 65 inch Samsung QN800A 8k TV and Samsung HW-N950 soundbar. So my quotation is,  would my current TV and soundbar be compatible with the Sonos Amp and sonnance speakers? ThanksMichael

My SONOS system is ~old:  Play:5; Play:3; SONOS One (Gen 1); SONOS Connect (Gen 1) [connected to Onkyo TX-RZ50 w/Klipsch tower, sub, ceiling, wall speakers; [plus a SONOS Bridge no longer being used].  So I'm pretty "stuck" with using the S1 (Android) Phone App.  I've wished for a physical app to use with this principally for QUICK access as a system "mute" (or "pause") for phone calls, doorbell, someone walks into the room, etc.  Plus, Volume Up/Down control nice, but not required.  I understand IKEA's SYMFONISK remote might be able to do this, though it requires a smart hub.  IKEA sells the SYMFONISK remote in a bundle with their DIRIGERA hub.  Can anyone tell me whether this IKEA SYMFONISK/DIRIGERA combo will control my SONOS S1 products without the necessity of my also needing to buy any SYMFONISK/SONOS speakers?  

I don't know the proper language to tell  Sonos where it is //ETC.

I’m setting up a Sonos system, primarily for movies, music secondary. I am particularly trying to “tune” for Dolby Atmos. The system will be Arc, x2 Era 300’s, Sub Gen 3.The question is regarding the Era 300’s. They will be 5 feet (150 cm) behind the back of the couch on the top of some bookshelves, about 6 feet (180 cm) high. Space to each side and behind isn’t an issue. Distance to ceiling is, well, borderline, depending exactly how measured.I’ve read the Era 300’s should be mounted upside down if within 2 feet (610 cm) of the ceiling. However, the Trueplay tuning, which I love, hasn’t yet been implemented for the Era 300’s while upside down (according to what I’ve read here).My distance … exactly 2 feet (610 cm) from the top of the shelves to the ceiling. However, if I measure from the top of the speakers, which I suspect is correct, then I have about 15” (450 cm).So, given the above, including I’d like to use Trueplay if I can, should I still mount the Era 300’s inverted?I’ll try b

Hi,I have a lg up7000upa with an arc,sub and era 300s. When I set my tv settings up I have to set the hdmi output to Auto. This disables the ability to select 5.1 or 7.1 uncompressed on Xbox series x. If I set it to passthrough as I have read you are supposed to for Atmos and other audio types.  If I play stereo pcm content on appletv the arc is distorted and the sound crackles. Has anyone else ran into this or knows a way to fix it?

Hi there,in the app, I see the option to increase/decrease the audio delay, but is there a way to turn it off completely.I’m probably not using the Era as intended.. I have connected via the Line-In adapter to an old Yamaha Keyboard. Play is to use it as the speaker for the keyboard and an extra speaker for the room at other times. Even the low 75ms delay makes it difficult to play the keyboard and feel natural. 

I found a post on this topic from 2 years ago, but it didn’t answer the question.I have been setting my alarm to Grouped Rooms for years and now suddenly it won’t work. I have done a bunch of troubleshooting, including unplugging all my speakers, resetting the controller, reinstalling the app, and removing and replacing the Alarm several times. None of these have worked.Has Sonos made another change which causes the grouped rooms option for the Alarms to not work. It’s bad enough when an update has been made and the Chime goes off instead of Music, but now the Grouped Rooms option seems to have new challenges.I appreciate your comments and maybe this can get resolved.

Please can we get a schedule for night mode. Its such an easy thing to do. It only changes the phone app! Its been asked to be added for years. Yes we can do a work around. What a faff that is. This request has been asked for for so long. Are your software engineers asleep? 

I would like to integrate a pair of Yamaha DSR 115 powered loudspeakers and powered Subs into my Sonos system for my garage.  I called Sonos customer support and they said the Sonos Connect AMP is what I need, but I’m pretty confident the representative is mistaking. I believe it is the Sonos Connect or Sonos Port that provides non amplified output signals. But would like to make sure it would work before I purchase either. I do understand I will need a RCA to XLR adaptor cable. Is there any advantage using the Port over the Connect?Thanks!

I did a search, so if this is answered elsewhere, do direct me please.Goal: Use a Connect Amp (Gen 1) and two B&W speakers as the sound output for my nice but old Philips TV.Output: My choices on the TV are HDMI, HDMI ARC, Digital Audio, and the trusty-old Headphone jack (3.5mm).Input: The Amp has RCA left and right. My hunch: Headphone jack directly to the RCAs and call it a day. I ordered a $10 cable from Amazon and hope it works.Questions: Think it’ll work? What about the mystical “delay” that seems to exist or not depending on … something? Generally speaking, will the use of the headphone jack simply direct the sound that way or does one need to select that as the preferred output? Can I set the Sonos volume to something reasonable and then use the TV audio controller to raise and lower the sound rather than control the Sonos using the phone?Thank you and best wishes.

Do you really need 2 of the same devices for surround sound and why is that. I have 7 speakers collected over the years and all are differnt models do I really need another to use as surround sound. I was hoping to connect a Sonos bean and Era 300 together.  ThanksH

Your tech support told me I was out of luck. That I could not use the Sub mini with my current system of 6 speakers. All Gen 1 except for a Beam. It was suggested that I return it to the store. Talk about a technical and marketing train wreck. In any case, I managed to put on my nerd hat and figured it out thanks to others on Google. A lot of unplugging and DHCP reservations. Now I’m running S1 in conjunction with S2. It’s not too pretty but it all works. I get that progress is inevitable but so is backward compatibility. A flash upgrade perhaps? Whatever it is, please consider updating the Mini to work with the S1. Thanks.
