Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Just got a new Sonos Amp. Trying to connect the Amazon Echo Dot to it to control it with Alexa. I had this set up correctly before with the Sonos Connect. But with the Sonos Amp, I cant figure out how to set it up successfully. Im also running two Sonos Ones with Alexa built in. There are so many different ways to set this up that Im getting lost here. How do I do this correctly?

I have a Sonos Beam and an Alexa dot in a group called ‘kitchen’ i have set the preferred speaker as the beam but when I say ‘play music’ and the dot picks it up (as it invariably does, it seems to be more sensitive hence the reason i have added it to the kitchen set up) it will play through the dot not the beam unless I specify ‘play on kitchen sonos.’ My understanding was that the preferred speaker option was supposed to prevent this. Any help appreciated.

How do I change wake-up name (we have an Alexa in our family)

I have a Sonos play bar and 2 Sonos Ones for the rear channels. If I say "Alexa, play Billy Joel" while I'm watching TV, it switches and starts playing music. That's great. Now I want to return to the optical input of the Play Bar and start listening to the TV audio again. What do I say to switch it back? The only way I have found is to get out my phone and go through the app to switch it back. Thanks, Rob

Hi folks, I encountered some odd behavior the other day when I tried to tune Alexa's voice recognition on the Sonos One by using the command "Alexa, learn my voice." The device accepted the command, but when it started the procedure it spoke the word 'Alexa', which the device interpreted as the wake word, causing the procedure to stop. After contacting Sonos support, I found out that the Sonos One doesn't yet have the ability to do voice tuning. I'm hoping we'll see a patch so that the device handles this scenario more gracefully.

Hi all, My Alexa with Sonos beam and sonos one was not behaving as it should constantly saying ‘I am not sure what went wrong’ so I decided to disable and deleting all the devices from Alexa app. Since, I have re-added them I am constantly getting the same message ‘Sorry I am having trouble understanding right now, please try little later’ in american accent! I have already rebooting all the devices including my router but still no luck. Is there anything else we can try? Thanks all 🙂

Since yesterday Sonos has stopped playing music requested through my Alexa devices I have disabled and re enabled the skill Re discovered devices on Alexa Checked within the app - plays music normally from all services When requested Alexa says playing music through device and if ask to play music on another it says it is already streaming on a device (indicating it believes it is connected) I have 3 Alexa dots and multiple Sonos speakers all set up and working fine till yesterday since last yr. Diagnostic number 1694230956 From few minutes after a request Help as this is very frustrating

Been using a Sonos One in the kitchen for about a year. Initially, the mic sensitivity was awful, but I think it was tweaked in an update and it got much better soon afterwards. Recently though it's worse than ever. I simply cannot get it to respond, even by shouting, when there's music playing. I have to use the Sonos app to pause it and then it hears me fine. I haven't moved the Sonos, it's up high on a cupboard and nothing else has been put near it or anything like that. Anyone else having this problem? Was there another update that might account for this?

I’m trying to setup my Echo Spot to play music to my stereo pair of Sonos Ones without having to say “Alexa play music on ,” using the Preferred Speaker setting in the Alexa app’s Groups function. My speaker shows up in the app and I select it as my preferred speaker, but asking Alexa to “play music” as the configuration screen suggests still plays it through the Echo itself. So far, I’ve tried: 1. Disabling the Sonos skill and removing the Sonos as a device, then re-adding it. And 2. Setting up the Alexa group both with and without my speaker in it (both scenarios allow me to set the Sonos pair as my Preferred Speaker). Neither of these have helped. What else should I try? Am I missing something?

I have 2 new Play5 s that I am trying to get to play Amazon music. When In the sonos app (Android) I add amazon music, authorize and Amazon says it has authorized Sonos to play, and to return to the Sonos app to continue. However when I return to the Sonos app I see the following: There was a problem adding Amazon music account. A connection to Amazon music could not be established. I have tried over and over, same thing. Pandora will play fine on the new speakers. Help.

Hi, I'm new to Sonos and to this community. I searched to see if this has been asked but didn't find anything. So since Sonos has no bluetooth abilities but my Echo dot does and I can stream music to Echo dot over bluetooth, is there a way to stream this to the Sonos speakers since there is som support for Sonos speakers in the Echo dot as far as I can see?

I can't find if the Alexa routines are supported already, or if it still doesn't work completely... I have a Sonos Beam and two Sonos One as surround speaker. I have also a Philips Hue Bridge with several bulbs. I configured Alexa on my Beam and it works. But I have made two routines and there I have a problem. I have made the routines "Good Night" and "Good Morning". "Good morning" turns on a scene. "Good evening" should turn off all lights in the living room. If I say "Alexa, good morning", the lights are turned on, according to the scene. If I say "Alexa, good night", it responds with "good night, sleep tight", but the lights stay on.... I have added the living room to turn off as an action in the routine, but it didn't work. I have also tried to add a n Alexa group of lights, but still no luck.... If I start the "Good night" routine in the Alexa app manually, it does work! Can someone explain me how to solve this or tell me why a scene as trigger works, b

I would really like to see the calling feature added to the Sonos one. I own several devices and plan to expand even further, however with this feature currently unavailable I am holding out.

Just started having this trouble today. I ask Alexa to play a song from Spotify. I receive confirmation from Alexa about the song but then nothing plays. I can play music from the Sonos Controller app on my computer and from the Sonos app itself, but the Spotify app will not connect to my Sonos One. Any help to offer?

Anybody know if the Echo Wall Clock from Amazon will be able to work with the Sonos One? So far the compatibility on the product page just says: Requires a compatible Echo device, including Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Plus, Echo Spot, or Echo Input. If it did work with my Sonos One, it'd be a great addition to my kitchen.

Sonos One had been working properly until Saturday 12/15 where now it only plays one song at a time. We are using Alexa and Amazon Music. System diagnostic number is 951288978. Thanks!

So, the Sonos One is a great idea and it sounds great. Just like you'd expect from Sonos. I bought Sonos almost on day one and I am a great fan. BUT I put off buying the Sonos One because of its limitations as reported in the press. It's Amazon Echo skills are seriously lacking and I am hopeful that Sonos are trying to fix them. The shortcomings are very poor for a company that I used to respect. Here are some of the problems I have found. Please let me know if they have been fixed as I haven't found them to work yet. 1) the inability to put the Sonos One into groups. 2) inability to set up routines based on a key phrase, such as "Alexa, good night" 3) When streaming a music station the music will continue to play despite saying "Alexa stop" in as many ways as possible. This doesn't always happen but when it does it is REALLY annoying. And guess what...instead of stopping...it turns the volume up! 4) When trying to play a particular station on the radio, most of them will play if y

When i use tv remote or phone to in/decrease the volume it goes up/down 2 steps with just one press. Eg from 0 silent to 2 then 4 and 6 etc. (I normally keep it at 6 during day time and 2 which is the lowest level at night. Alexa is loud too when at night if i ask for something. If the sound is mute and i want to increase just a bit it is better to use a remote or sonos app. If i ask Alexa she would turn it up from 0 to 10 which is too loud. Is there possible way to reduce her voulme when she replies? My set up in tv room is just a beam and 2x play 1 rear surrounds 5.1 dolby digital.

I reset my Sonos ONE, now is all set up but when adding the Amazon Music I get this message: Connection Error There was a problem adding the Amazon Music account. A Connection to Amazon Music could not be made. All this happens after it makes me sign in to validate the account, I close the browser after I sign in and ask me to close it and go back to the app. Please help Thanks

Replaced an Echo with a Sonos One and have a few basic routines. One of the routines is just to turn on 3 iDevice plugs and that is it. If I trigger that routine 'Alexa, Christmas time' everything works, but I get 'Audio actions in routines are not currently supported on this device' There is no audio in there, just 3 plugs. They are not in a group. In fact, I don't have any groups defined apart from 'Everywhere' which isn't called here. I'm glad it works, the message is just annoying us. Any thoughts on how to get rid of it? I have recreated the routine a few times.

I went to rename a Sonos One yesterday as it was moving physical rooms. Alexa could not discover it, much to my dismay after having a perfectly working system for the last several months. At this point, I can easily set up any Sonos speaker, enable Alexa on it and use Alexa through my beams or ones just fine. HOWEVER, while all Alexa-enabled speakers show up as ALEXA DEVICES in the Alexa app (and on alexa.amazon.com) NONE of them will show up as SMART HOME DEVICES. This means that while I can use Alexa through Sonos to control things, I can no longer, for example, turn off my TV using Alexa through the Beam to control the TV connected on the HDMI ARC port. I've tried enough combinations of remedies from other posts without success that I resorted to my best attempt at a clean slate: a factory reset of the only Sonos device I plugged in after logging out and uninstalling both iOS apps, leading me t to set up new system from scratch. This was after removing *all* Alexa

Hi: I have setup my beam and two sonos one as a home theater system. I am able to turn off white led light of both sonos one. However, there is no way of turning off the light of the beam. Can any of you help me please?

I purchased my Sonos Beam today, came home to set it up I have spent the past few hours trying to get Alexa to play nice with the Sonos Beam. When I look at my devices on the Amazon Alexa app and website under settings > devices, it will show the Beam is connected however, on the regular devices tab it shows nothing and will not discover the Beam. I have logged out, uninstalled, unplugged, reinstalled, enabled and disabled skills, changed names, stood on my head, did a little dance and I am still not able to get this darn thing to connect to Alexa. The beam is connected to my TV with the optic cable attachment as I don't have an ARC port. I understand that I won't be able to control the TV with Alexa. I would like to at least tell her to play music and work properly..... all ideas, comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

All working well for months. Today, Alexa was not able to switch off the TV anymore (connected to the beam with HDMI ARC). I tried to remove the TV from the device list and perform a device discovery on alexa app, but now it doesn't find the TV anymore. What can I do? I've already tried to disable and re-enable sonos skill

When I originally setup my Sonos with Alexa (Play1 and Playbar+sub) it all worked however I then discovered that because my smart bulbs were called the same name as my Playbar it caused a conflict on instructions. I then removed the Playbar from Alexa with the intention of readding it and giving it a different name. I have renamed the Playbar (+sub) but they are now are not docoverable by Alexa. I have tried the following: Disabling and enabling the skills Resetting the router Uninstalling and reinstalling both the Alexa and sonos apps Performing a factory reset on the Playbar (it should be noted when I reconnect the Playbar I had to do this wired for some reason) I only have the one sonos account and amazon account (both using the same email address) The Play1 connects fine so I know it’s not my router, accounts or the skill. I am now completely stumped any help would be appreciated
