Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have a new Playbase, along with an Echo Dot. The Echo Dot has been working fine controlling everything in the house. However when I try to add the Sonos speaker through Alexa it does not discover it...keeps saying "No new devices found." I go through Devices > Add a Device > Speaker > Sonos. The Sonos is connected and runs through TV as well as through the Sonos app. Just can't seem to get Alexa to "discover" it. What am I doing wrong?!

Long time user, Sonos One was on Wi-Fi working fine for months. Added Boost, and that was it, no go. Tried everything I know, and what I read online, but no luck. When I can get the One to show up in the controller, and run controller on my android phone it causes many different problems with the setup. Then it disappears off all controllers I use, on Windows and an android tablet. Diagnostics submitted, here is the confirm # 1750265065 Please help, Bill

I updated the spotify app and when i try to connect to the sonos it does not play at all. I see the clock ticking for the track but no go. If i use the sonos app I am able to play but I did not have this problem before. Weird cause its been working for months. Thinking its the spotify app update. Anyone else update and have the same issue? Also, I did updates on ipad and same result as iphone, even with diff user accounts. Did all the restarting of speaker, router and no luck.

I have two Sonos Ones a sonos play one and play 5. They all work perfectly through the sonos app. Both Sonos Ones have been working with Alexa for last year - no issues. Then in the last few weeks the issues have begun! Asking Alexa to play an album or playlist - the first song plays and then nothing. Asking Alexa to stop - it “bings” to let you know it’s heard you and then does nothing, continues to play. And this week - I say Alexa, it bings. I ask it to do anyone and there is just silence. My microphone is on, it hears me saying Alexa but does not perform command. I’ve disabled the skill and re added it. Same thing happens. The app recognises all of the devices. All of devices appear in my sonos app twice - which is another weird thing! I’m at a loss - I’ve never needed to ask for help before and I’m not sure how to go about getting the diagnostics check - can anyone advise?

I can't get Alexa to play "KNX 1070 NewsRadio on Radio.com in the Kitchen" on my Sonos player in the kitchen. I CAN get it to play on my Echo Dot. I've updated to the latest Sonos version 9.1. I uninstalled and reinstalled radio.com on my Sonos. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Sonos Skill and radio.com skill on my Alexa. I even tried asking Alexa to "open Radio dot com" then play KNX 1070 NewsRadio in the kitchen," still won't work. Alexa won't recognized the command when I try to play it on the Sonos. Any advice on how to get Alexa to play this station on my Sonos?

Sonos has shared a video on how to enable smart ducking. Cannot get it to work because the Alexa app does not have the settings they show in the video. Can you provide written instructions?

So I have this beautiful Sonos One (Christmas present from my better half) playing music in my office and during the Christmas break I asked Alexa for a reminder to which she replied that reminders weren't supported on this device. OK so no big deal but it's something that I use on our Echo's and Dot's. The surprise today was that, for fun, I thought I would ask Alexa on the Sonos One for a reminder and 'SURPRISE-SURPRISE' Alexa accepted the request and duly reminded me an hour later. So reminders now work......the Sonos One just gets better and better! I love it and am now saving for another.

Got a Beam yesterday and connected fine, worked beautifully playing music via the Sonos app or via asking Alexa (kids also discovered “Alexa - maximum volume” very quickly!). This morning however asking Alexa to play music, I get an “ok playing xxxxx” but no music. Playing from the app still works, and asking Alexa the time etc still work fine, it’s just the music - is there anything I could try please?

I am haveing problems getting alexa working on my sonos one. Followed all the instructions on the threads finally factory reset the sonos one (prior I removed device and skill from alexa). The speaker acknowledges alexa but does not answer the question. Everything was fine for about one month. I sent a diagnostic code confirmation number 416611309 the problem is with BMJ Room. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks George

Loved Sonos so much, that we bought one for our 2nd home. However finding it's not possible to get Alexa and/or Amazon Music Unlimited to work at both locations. Is there any workaround?

Hi had loads of trouble setting up my new Beam with my brand new Philips tv Finally got it to turn on and off and adjust volume etc but when I play music and “stop” I can not get the tv sound output until I turn the TV on and off !! Very frustrating

Ok, so it’s been asked enough now however it’s starting to become rather annoying as my daughter’s favorite show right now has the main character as Alexa - so with a Sonos one device on the same room and a beam device on the way this is a rather annoying situation. The beam at least should be able to know when the word Alexa comes from the TV as the audio passes through the beam - in writing this Alexa on sonos has been activated 5 times. It’s quite ridiculous honestly that Alexa on sonos devices are so limited.

So, I'm new to the Sonos brand, recently picking up the Sono's One's and a Beam because of the AirPlay2 integration (well done Sonos). I've got Sonos in 3 rooms, the Breakfast room, the Game Room, and the Living Room. Alexa is enabled on all 3 devices. The Apple HomePod is in the Kitchen. So I've read a crazy amount of posts and threads on trying to get Sonos Speakers Grouped using Alexa commands (Sonos you have really failed here pretty hard), and I've gone through the trouble of naming and grouping the speakers in the Alexa App, including creating a group called "Everywhere" containing all of them. I've also installed the "Speaker Groups" Skill and played with it (though you have to be incredibly specific with it, and I view it as a stop gap). As you probably already know, one can't simply ask Alexa to Play music "Everywhere" - even having created such a group. Hello, i’m using with no problem my sonos one with alexa, but i’m in trouble with alexa routine. Initially all works, After one day when i call the routine an error message ‘routine is not found in this device’ was said by alexa but routine was executed correctly. After a week the routine is not enabled more in the alexa app (no alexa device was found). How can i Resolve? Thansk

Created Routine via Alexa but only part works. The ISY lights turn off (action) but the Alexa nevers syas the phrase I added to the routine. It does not show the SONOS One as a speaker and it does not allow me to choose a speaker (it is blank). It also it does not play the phrase from the speaker I speak to. The speaker does work fine otherwise. I can play music, news and weather reports, from it with no issues. Any ideas?

Sonos Play One does not appear under Alexa enabled devices (it shows up as a Sonos speaker) but alexa app doesnt seem to know it has Alexa inside. The play One play music from the app, and works normally as a play1 type speaker, but alexa doesnt function at all. (I have the Alexa app set up with 2 other Dots, Philips Hue, Savant (AV). but the Play One built in Alexa just seem dead to the world. Help me Sonos !

Hi, Love my Sonos and have just bought a ONE to make use of the Alexa feature. Working somewhat but it seems that the Voice command part of the Sonos app is not supported yet here in Sweden. Does anyone know when SONOS plan to release that in Sweden? THX, Antius

I have 6 Sonos One speakers throughout my house, and I frequently use Alexa to control various smart home devices. These devices include: *Lutron Caseta Switches *Ecobee4 Thermostats *Logitech Harmony Hub *iDevice Plug For the past year or so, I have been using Alexa Routines for performing multiple actions on these devices. Most of these routines only include settings for my Lutron Caseta switches, but two have additional actions for my Logitech Harmony Hub. Until this past Saturday, all of these Routines worked perfectly fine when executed via Alexa on one of my Sonos One speakers. On Saturday I installed a Ring Video Doorbell Pro and a 3rd Generation Echo Dot. I added the Ring skill to Alexa along with the doorbell camera. The Ring Doorbell is not included in ANY of my Routines. After making these additions on Saturday, anytime I try to execute a Routine from a Sonos One speaker via Alexa, the routine will execute, but Alexa always responds "Audio Actions are Currentl

Well, until Friday everything was just fine, I could make requests to Alexa. Since then the microphone is off and I can't turn it back on. I've tried rebooting the unit, I've tried numerous times to turn it on including pressing the mic for 5 seconds. If I press the mic I can make requests and Alexa responds, just can't seem to turn it back to the "on" state. Any guidance appreciated?

purchased two sonos one, setup and use as satellite speakers for playbar no problem. issue was in setting up alexa,it gets hung up where it indicates it can’t connect with speakers when adding alexa service “make sure you are connected to your wifi network”. the only contributing factor i can think off is i had previously purchas d and successfully installed a single sonos one that i returned same day, it’s still on my account. any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi - I have an older Sonos 5 and connect system (so not voice enabled). My daughter has an Alexa upstairs, which when she speaks to it, means that the Sonos downstairs cuts out. Not sure how to rectify this. Over xmas I played around with it and actually connected it, so when I "borrow" it downstairs, I can voice control the Sonos. All great. Until she reclaims it and uses it upstairs - again it interferes with the Sonos and in fact it's worse now, as the music she wants to play then switches and comes through the Sonos downstairs. Have read threads and it seems to be a problem without a solution for the time being. I would like the Sonos to be voice controlled - so was thinking of keeping the Alexa downstairs (used purely for voice control) and buying her a replacement voice controlled speaker - such as Google Home, to use upstairs. Doe anyone know if the Google Home interferes with Sonos? Many thanks in advance!

The Sonos One is my first Sonos and the experience so far has been frustrating. Finally got Alexa working then one day it stopped responding. I have amazon alexa products that work fine. I noticed that on Alexa App that I had Sonos One listed and 'Foyer'. I deleted 'Sonos One' as I was having streaming issues and I thought there was a conflict. Now it not working at all. I can still operate the sonos with the sonos android app.

Most of us "smart home" people have multiple devices in each room (lights, sonos, echos, etc). And most of our homes have the same rooms (kitchen, bedroom, den, etc.). What is the best practice naming convention for this situation? I am asking because I typically get a response from Alexa along the lines of "there are multiple devices named Kitchen, which one do you want?".

After an update to the Sonos software this weekend, the Alexa integration is "broken" in that now, starting music using voice commands breaks apart groups of speakers. Are there new commands, or is there a way to roll back the software version to one that actually worked? If this is the "new normal," then I will need to discuss returning all of the Sonos products I own and looking into a new Alexa compatible system.

Not an ideal place to ask, but I’m not signing up to another forum to just ask this... 🆒 Currently I have a couple of Play 1’s setup in the kitchen with an Echo Dot. Obviously, at the moment I have to say, ‘Alexa, play BBC 6 Music in the kitchen’ to kick things off. But I also have Sonos Ones and a Beam as well, so when I’m in the kitchen I often forget to say ‘kitchen’ so the bloody thing plays horrible sounds from the Echo Dot, or music as Amazon calls it -it’s almost rage inducing. I have tried to find out but does anybody know if the new Echo Input will pair with just one set of speakers, and therefore will a target room not be necessary? If I can just say, ‘Alexa, play BBC 6 Music’ and it comes out of the Play 1’s then my sanity is worth £40.
