Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Just to share the results of a recent experiment:A family member got a new Echo Flex (all-in-one Echo plug-in unit with tiny speaker), and wanted to test it with the Sonos speakers. They added the Sonos skill to their Alexa account and registered to the Sonos account with the speakers, the same one used with our other Echo units on a different Alexa account. Surprisingly that worked fine. The new Echo Flex was able to play music on the Sonos speakers, and the ability of the other Echo units to do the same was not impaired.For 24 hours, that is.The next day, the Sonos speakers had gone offline in the original Alexa account and could not be used. Unlinking the skill and re-linking did not work - Alexa was unable to discover the speakers. Unlinking them from the new Echo Flex account and trying again to re-add them to the original account also did not work.Eventually we discovered that the “offline” speakers must be completely deleted from Alexa, then the Sonos skill removed, then the ski

I bought a 2nd set of Sonos 1’s for the master bedroom just to play sleep sounds via Amazon Alexa’s app collection...specifically, sounds by SleepJar.  The Sonos speakers will NOT loop the sleep sounds.  I unplugged the Sonos speakers, put an Amazon Echo speaker on the same desk, and the Echo speaker loops all night.  Sonos speakers are fantastic.  But this one problem is very disheartening.  I’ve tried all the so-called solutions that have been posted in the past, including de-registering, uninstalling stuff, and doing it all over again but nothing works.

I have created an Alexa Group name ‘Master Suite’ and added a Connect:Amp and two Echos, one Dot and one Show 5. As Amazon gave out the necessary information for developers last December: How long will it take Sonos to provide their customers with the possibility to play music on Echo speakers and Sonos speakers at the same time? It doesn’t help, when I either can play music via Echo (bathroom, entrance hall & shower) or via Sonos (rest of the flat). I want to play the same music all over the flat.It would be nice to get an update on this topic. Thinking about replacing my Sonos with Echo Studio to be able to realize this.Sonos is always advertising the integration of Alexa and Sonos. That’s highly misleading. 

How come the new Five doesnt have microphone for voice-control?? Are there a new version coming soon with mic?

Hi all - apologies if this has been covered, First Post. Previously I could play BBC Radio via Alexa and Tunein on my Sonos Play 1 and Play 5. Just read that BBC no longer works with Tunein due to not being able to find an agreement about data sharing or similar. Is there a workaround where I can use Alexa to play BBC Radio on my Sonos? Thanks

Hi!Alexa, only and exclusively on the Beam soundbar, seems that doesn’t recognize anything because she tells me “Didn't find any smart home device, go to Alexa App to the section Smart Home to start”.My actual Sonos + Alexa configuration has: 1 Beam + L/R surround with 2 Sonos One, 1 Sonos Connect, and 1 Echo Dot.Preamble: I was a Beta program member, but when I've closed my program, the issue has started.I’ve tried a lot of unsuccessful combinations: by default, my Echo Dot (that is placed in the bedroom) works with every Alexa's smart home device and any music service. I’ve tried to factory reset my Beam, and I’ve found that the two Sonos One, removed from the surround and enabled with Alexa, works correctly too.Also with the factory reset, the Beam doesn’t work. The strange thing is that only the Beam. Hi all,  I (like many others) am not having any success getting Alexa on Sonos one gen 2 to play Apple music content via Alexa voice commands here in Ireland. I have unlinked and relinked skills, devices etc in Alexa. I have also set Apple Music as default Streaming service in Alexa app, but Alexa does not find any music on Apple Mysic via voice commands ( yet works perfectly when playing Apple Music content on Sonos app. Any help greatly appreciated.  iphone7 plus running iOS 13.7 with latest Sonos software and Alexa App software. 

I know this has been raised elsewhere on the internet (e.g., Reddit) and I searched back several pages in this forum first to make sure I didn’t find an active recent discussion on this.  I also did a forum search but the most recent reference was a thread from two years ago - but, in any event, please pardon if this is in fact an “oh, no, not this again” topic:Is there any fix or workaround to Alexa obscuring the first couple of second of a song with its lengthy announcement of the song title, the artist, and the music service being played - i.e., a way to get Alexa to wait to actually start the song until AFTER it is done with its announcement rather than speaking over the first few seconds of the track?Thanks, Mike Edit to add device:  I have the Sonos Arc, with a couple of Ones on the way.

Hello, I have a mixture of sonos and amazon echo devices in two different properties.  When I travel from one property (my main house) to the other (my holiday home), the experience on my alexa echo devices is seamless.  If I say alexa play music in both properties it connects to my amazon prime account and plays from amazon music which is set up as my voice service.  However with Sonos when I arrive at my other property and say play music or play radio station xxx nothing happens.  I have to disable the Sonos skill in the alexa app and then set it all up again and then it works.  But then when I return to my main house I have to disable the Sonos skill and set it all back up again.  This is a real pain.  Has anyone found a better way of doing this please?  I would be grateful for any advice you may have

Hi. I’m new to the group and I’m visually impaired.Only a recent problem but my Echo Dot will not play Absolute Radio to a group of sonos speakers. It will only play Absolute Smooth Radio.Was fine until a couple of weeks ago.Can anyone help please.

Hello All Due to the BBC radio issue with Google assistant I've had to change to Alexa. I now have an issue with Spotify "Your Daily Mix" playlists from the "Made for You" section (the one to six playlists created by Spotify based one what you've been listening to) - this worked a treat with GA but Alexa can't find them. It can find "Discover Weekly" ok though. Anyone know if it's me doing something wrong? Cheers, Andy.

Having a persistent issue (despite troubleshooting) with Spotify + Sonos. I started experiencing the issue wherein using a voice command to my Sonos One or Beam resulted in Alexa acknowledging the command correctly but then not playing the music (for example “play some jazz”, Alexa responds “Playing Jazz”, but then silence...). Interestingly, while this happens with Spotify (my default music source), when I ask for a radio station (which is streamed by iHeartRadio), it has always worked perfectly without a single exception. I followed the pinned article’s troubleshooting instructions last night (used Amazon web interface to deregister all speakers, removed voice assistant in Sonos app, then re-added it, etc), and this did solve the problem...but only temporarily. This morning only 12 hours later, I again asked to play music, and again Alexa responded as expected, but music did not start. This seems to be a persistent bug; anything that can be done / are others experiencing this? I used to be able to listen to Beat 106 Scotland via Alexa on my Sonos devices but now none of them work.  The service is enabled through Amazon Alexa.When in the Sonos app, I receive this errorUnable to play ‘listen.m3u’ - the song is not encoded correctly.I have tried adding the radio station through Tune In by adding the URL but it still doesn’t work.Hope someone can help or shed some light as to why it no longer works.

I have the sonos move, and every time I travel with it (now 3 separate trips, 3 destinations) the alexa voice control doesn’t work for music. Commands which work at home that do not work while travelling:alexa stop alexa play alexa pause alexa play xxx song from apple music alexa play xxx song from spotifyThe “play music” commands report that they work, but the music never actually plays.Interestingly, volume up / volume down / set volume commands work. So do other alexa functions, asking questions, setting timers, and so on.

Have been trying to stream music simultaneously to a group of Amazon and Sonos Alexa enabled devices. I called Amazon and was told it was not possible. I called Sonos and was told it is possible.I uninstalled and reinstalled both apps. I can get the mixed devices in the same group, but not in the same multi-room music group.I had to set a preferred speaker in the group and it only streams there; not to my echo and dots. What am I doing wrong?

Hello I recently added Alexa to my iPhone. My sonos will do everything I aks it to do except play mu music. I have removed/added/removed the skills and rebooted my whole network and systems to no avail….Help me please I also have lighting applications on phone controlled by Alexa but my sonos does not seem to connect with the functoinnalities
