Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hi Needs some advice here...!I have 2 Sonos One’s separated, one called kitchen for obvious reasons the other dinning room. Both play trough the Sonos app, BBC Sound s App and intune app. However if I’m in the kitchen and I ask Alexa to play a song. She says playing song by UB40 on Spotify. However it plays on the Dinning room not the kitchen Therefore I did a Factory reset on each speaker naming each one Kitchen and Dinning Room. The problem I have now, is that neither speaker will no longer play Spotify through alexa. My Sonos app say it playing but there is no sound. My router is on Sky UK if this makes a difference any help greatly appreciated 

For the last six months we’ve had a weird, intermittent issue with Alexa and timers on a Sonos One and a Beam. We get two problems, intermittently (for about 50% of all timers): In response to “Alexa, start a N minute timer”, unit fails to respond, but starts the timer anyway; or Unit responds affirmatively, but upon subsequent inquiry says “No timer is set” and/or it fails to go off. They otherwise work perfectly in all respects; all kinds of playback, whether internet streams or local music library, and for all other voice commands & skills. In addition, the same timer commands do work consistently on a “real” Amazon Echo & Echo Dot on the same network. Fixes attempted: Factory reset, including deconfiguring, removing unit from both Amazon & Sonos accounts and re-adding after reset Connecting via alternate networks (including all of: Wifi, Sonosnet, and fixed-wire network). Even tried a different ISP, temporarily. Circumstances: Alexa on Sonos devices otherwise works flaw

I am trying to set up a Group called “everywhere” to play on my 3 Alexa devices, Alexa, Dot and sonos.  Group works great for Alexa and Dot.  When I try to Add Sonos Alexa app says it is not compatible.  All are on the same network and the Alexa app sees all 3 speakers.  Starting to get a little disappointed in the Beam.  This should not be this hard.  Any ideas? I have made sure that everything is on a single account in Alexa.  That was an issue in the past with lights, I was logged into my account on my phone and Alexa was set to my wife’s  I have since logged into my wife’s alexa app account for the time being in hopes of fixing this. 

is Alexa unable to speak calendar notifications?

I have lost Alexa on my Play One.  I have factory reset the speaker and reconnected it.  I’ve also done everything under in the Sonos support topic about deregistrating and reregistrating an Alexa device.  When completing the setup, I can hear Alexa confirm setup with, “Hello!”.  However, the mic led will not turn on.  There is a tone each time I turn the mic on and off but it will not respond to any commands.  Everything looks fine, just no mic LED or response.Your diagnostic confirmation number is: 1384143241.   What’s the next step, Sonos? Thanks- John

I just set up a Sonos One with Alexa and the sound is noticeably better than the Amazon Echo. On the Sonos One though, each and every time I call "Alexa" it plays some kind of acknowledgement tone. When I call my Echo or Dot, thankfully there is no such tone. Is there anyway to disable it?

Does anyone know if a paired Sonos One speaker system now has both microphones working for Alexa? By default it was only the left speaker that was listening before (shown by the microphone light being on) but now the light is on on both speakers. I am wondering if there has been an update?

Asking for a feature request to have Sonos volume control by Alexa be able to say a volume number and set it to that instead of the 0-10.  The right spot for listening is too loud at say 20 and too low at 10.  Just be nice to say Alexa set to volume to 18 or 25. 

My Sonos One is connected and works fine (I can play TuneIn stations, Alexa answers all questions I ask, etc.) but when I ask to play something from Spotify it says “The device is offline”.I tried to deregister and re-register, delete ans re-install the Alexa app and the Sonos app on my phone, but nothing changed.Another voice command that doesn’t work is when I’m playing music (doesn’t matter if it’s from TuneIn or Spotify) is the “Stop” command. My Sonos chimes but the music doesn’t stop.  

This. Application is slow it’s terrible for Alexa commands and refuses to answer and listen just like my older children sometimes it works after you yelled at three times it’s horrible I hope you’re doing something to fix it 

I have a bunch of Sonos speakers (obviously) and just bought an Echo Show.While I can control the Sonos system in all rooms, there seems to be no way to show what’s playing on the Echo Show.What I’d expect is, that:if the Echo Show is in the same room as my speakers - it shows what’s playing on these there is a setting, where I can show what’s playing on <any> room on the Echo Show (like it does on the iOS or Android app).But I can’t seem to find any setting for this… Can this be true? (I somewhat feel like back in the 90s)Any hint?

PART 1: I have a Show 5 and Sonos One in my kitchen. I want the Show to be my Alexa device, but would like the One to be my speaker for music in the Kitchen. When playing music, I don't want to have to specify “kitchen” in my commands. I created a group called Kitchen, and added the Show and Sonos One to that group. The Sonos One is set as the speaker for this group the playback option is set to “Always.” Question… Did I set this up right? Should I turn the mic off on the Sonos One? If yes, is there a way to disable the mic so someone (i.e. one of my kids) doesn't press the button and turn on the One’s mic by mistake? PART 2: I have a Sonos Beam in the living room, which is next to the kitchen. I have a Sonos Beam in my living room in a group with two Gen 1 Sonos One speakers and a Sonos Sub. I have had Alexa enabled since I initially setup this system. All had been working well but suddenly, Alexa will not stop or pause playing by voice command. I can say "Alexa, play NPR" and it will respond properly. I can say "Alex Louder" and "Alex Lower" and the volume will adjust. But when I say "Alexa Stop" (which is what I've been saying since day one) or "Alexa Pause" it will simply make the command chime and keep playing. Also, the Beam is working properly but in the Sonos app, I don't specifically see the Beam listed as a speaker. I think it might simply be labeled "Living Room?" I'm not sure if I should see the Beam specifically? I tried to remove Alexa and reactivate it but I got completely confused and I'm not sure what I accomplished. I purchased a new Sonos One 2nd gen last month, and I immediately noticed that the microphone was nowhere as sensitive as the gen 1 version. For Alexa to respond, I have to be quite near the Sonos One, and I've had to raise the volume of my voice to be heard. I relocated from Europe earlier this year and was waiting for all my Sonos gear to arrive with my furnitures. Those have now arrived and I set it all up over the past few days. So I have Sonos One devices in all bedrooms, all but one are 1st gen, the 2nd gen being in my bedroom. When I say "Alexa, turn on the light", it's typically Alexa in another room that will respond. "Alexa set a timer for 5 minutes" and you can hear it being setup in another bedroom. Now I don't know if it's an issue with this particular gen2 that is faulty, or that somehow the gen2 has a less sensitive microphone. But it's pretty much unusable as an Alexa device. Just set up a Sonos one with Alexa and whenever she talks there’s a lot of static in the voice. I’m not noticing it when playing music as much if at all. 

I see people have been logging this complaint regularly for months i have been using my Playbar and two Sonos Ones for over 3 years and love them 3 days ago Alexa switched to a whisper and just won’t change. Nothing was changed here worrying

Se avessi avuto un altro dispositivo tipo echo dot sarei riuscito? Hello I try to join two speakers “sonos one” and one “echo input” in a single playback group I hope that this it’s possible with one alexa group but not work.Is there another way? If I had another device like “echo dot” would I be successful? 

If I ask Sonos Move “Alexa what is the weather” it works fine along with whatever other questions I have.But if I ask it to play my Favorites…  It will say “Playing your favorites”  then silence.   It seems to locate my favorites because it says it…. but plays nothing.  It was working before, but started acting up so i had to reset it and reconfigure it all over agian. No I can’t get it to play my favorites.  Note: this is the playlist I have for Alexa.. when asking an Alexa device it works fine.  Any Ideas?

Hi. We have 2 Sonos One with Alexa, one "kitchen", one "living room" Living room is the older unit. When I ask living room to play BBC radio 2, she goes through the routine, but the station doesnt play, but when i do the same on Kitchen, the station does play. Both speakers are on wifi, less than 20 feet from the wifi hub and our current wifi speed is 40mbps. Can any one help please?

Is it possible to listen to music on your sonos speakers AND use your amazon echos as additional speakers at the same time?   I have 5 sonos speakers and 1 echo and am able to ask alexa to play music but it will play on either the 5 sonos speakers or the echo….i can’t seem to get it to play on ALL the speakers….it is an endless either or no matter what I do.  Any guidance would be so appreciated.  

Hi,I cannot change the alexa acount in sonos one speaker. The alexa system at home recognise the speaker an can manage it, but when I ask to the sonos speaker itself it doesnt recognise the house services as the speaker itself keep on working with a different account.I have tried to remove and reinstall everithing, alexa apps, related music apps, skills,...and I have removed the the sonos amazon device registry also, but everytime I  try to change the sonos alexa voice service (through the sonos app) to the account I use at home it automaticaly comes back to the former alexa acount.thanks a lot for any help that will be very welcome.  

Hi All. When asking the Arc to Play music via Spotify (Spotify set as standard) it says that Spotify is not set up in Sonos? But it is. It works perfect through the Sonos app. Diagnostic 1498108751  

I have Radiopup setup on Sonos but can’t access it using Alexa voice commands.  I have no problem playing Radiopup stations on Sonos using the app.  Any help will be appreciated 

Hello All,Moved into a new property with built in speakers in the ceiling. I’ve purchased a Sonos amp to run these and it’s working great. I now want to connect my Alexa devices to this amp (wirelessly). But Alexa doesn’t seem to discover the amp, I had no problem with this in the old property with an older gen Play:1.  Any help would be hugely appreciated.  United Kingdom Cheers, Patrick
