Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hello, I am running with some issues with my sonos beam gen 2 with Alexa and Amazon music. When I Ask Alexa to play music, it réponds but it kever plays music (Alexa voice command is working fine on my ERA 100).On amazon music when I try to cast to the sonos beam it connects and then the apps says it disconnectedI try different things but nothing has solved issue : factory reset, enable/disable the sonos skills, try to remove and add Alexa from the sonos beam.

I feel stupid having to yell “Alexa” to ask her to stop the music when the volume is low. The Sonos One’s microphone is fine when the volume is not low, but really bad when low.

Does anyone have issues with using Alexa skills through Sonos speakers? I have a few linked to my account (Neato for my vacuum & Delta for my kitchen tap as examples). If I ask an Alexa enabled Sonos to vacuum, it will tell me it's unable to find a device or group named Neato. But if I ask the same from an Amazon Echo it works as it should. Same thing for the Delta skill. It's been like this for as long as I can remember. Alexa does work on the Sonos speaker as I can ask it to pause, play music etc. 

I was able to link Spotify and Voice Assistant Alexa through the Alexa App. However, I can’t play Spotify through “Alexa, play __ in Spotify”. It will respond, “Ok Playing...”, but then there’ll be nothing playing. I found a Sonos support page to try to disable Sonos Skill in Alexa and then re-enable it again. I tried that, but after click on Enable, I get this error from Sonos API page: Register your speakersYou need to link speakers to your _____ Sonos account before you can add this skill. But I have already linked my speakers to my Sonos account and I can see it on the Sonos app.  Sonos Era 100

I have 5 speakers.  2 plays, 2 ones, and a roam that I just purchased.  We moved and I changed the name of my speakers.  Now I have the old speaker names listed as devices on Alexa and there is no ability to delete under settings.  These names do not appear on Sonos system or Alexa.amazon.com devices.  But in the Alexa app the 4 duplicate speakers , the serial numbers are different/incorrect for these devices.  I’ve disabled the Sonos skill, logged out and deleted/reinstalled the Alexa app.They are still there!additionally all of my speakers have duplicates with the current name in the Alexa app — one with a speaker icon and one with a WiFi/spotify icon,Thanks for your help.

Sometimes when I ask my Echo Dot Alexa located in the Kitchen to play a station on the Kitchen Sonos 5, she answers, "Station playing in Kitchen" on my Sonos Move in another room on the other side of the house. The station does play on the Sonos 5 in the Kitchen. The same thing will happen if I ask her about the weather or time. This is annoying because we can't hear her response.I tried logging out of both Sonos and Alexa, resetting my router, updating Sonos, cycling power and even changing my Amazon password. I also have a Sonos 3 in the Bedroom and a Connect:Amp in the Living Room. I've installed Sonos Voice Control on my Sonos Move. My setup worked fine for about a year and just started this problem about 2 months ago.

Hi,At 7.35am every morning, my Sonos One announces the time, via Alexa. After several months, this is really starting to irritate me! Please tell me how I can switch this off? I have looked about the Alexa app, but have not go anywhere with it. Many Thanks.

Does SONOS still sell speakers with Alexa built in? Current product list does not indicate this. I believe the SONOS One did this but apparently no longer offered. If so, can a SONOS speaker with Alexa voice control built in play YouTube music service? This auto-play feature is making me crazy. Please let me toggle it off!We spent more time at home over the holidays & myself, my wife & my kids all resented this feature more & more every day we were home. When I use voice to request a track, I NEVER want another track to auto-play afterwards. No no no.There isn’t a single music service on the planet that knows how to auto-recommend songs without absolutely destroying the vibe after 2-3 suggested tracks. Apple Music ruins it in 1 song almost every time! Genius, you are not, Siri. Maybe if Pandora worked in Canada & I could use voice to like & dislike songs, this wouldn’t be so egregious. But in no way to I want my 10,000+$ worth of smart speakers blasting Maroon Five in my house without my permission. I have Sonos Move speakers (connected to sonos app), Samsung UE665 Series 8 TV, Amazon Alexa, Smartthings app, Vizio soundbar connected to optical on tv.  I’ve read other threads but end up going down the rabbit hole.  So I’m asking for my specific scenario. 1. Can Alexa control the Sonos speakers, like the volumn, turn on/off?2. How do I connect the Samsung TV to Sonos. Samsung doesn't have an app for sonos (at least mine doesn't)?I probably will have other follow up questions, but I'll start here.

Alexa will not connect to my sonos roam correctly- it will respond but then not play news, flash briefing, or music. All of my sonos devices (roam, beam, and move) will not play spotify through alexa. I have called support twice, and already tried the following:On sonos app: disconnect and reconnect devices On alexa app:  Disable sonos skill and enable again  Disable spotify skill and enable again Delete all sonos devices and add again Deregister all sonos devices and register again None of these things have resolved the issue. I was told to post on beta community but I don’t have any projects open so cannot post on that board.One of the reasons I bought the roam was for handsfree use of Alexa and to play music with spotify- none of these things are working. 

We have had our Move for several years, and all was good until a few days ago. Suddenly I cannot play Apple music nor play NPR News Now or the Daily or anything. I ask Alexa to “play NPR News Now” and she replies with “getting NPR News Now from Amazon. Here’s the latest episode for Jan 18th”….and then she stops. Likewise, I will ask her to “play David Bowie on Apple Music” and she will say “David Bowie on Apple Music” but then go silent. She responds to all other Alexa commands normally though. I also have an Amazon Echo Plus in the same room. When I ask her to play NPR News Now or Apple Music she does...so this is not an internet issue, not an account issue. I have hard reset my Move back, and reset it up again. Did not work. Would appreciate help to fix this. 

TLDR: A new Move 2 that I believe is properly configured on the same Alexa account as all my other Sonos and Alexa devices is not appearing as an Alexa-Enabled device in the Alexa app. I am trying to add the Move 2 to an Alexa ‘group’ so that I can say “turn on the lights” and it will know where it is but can’t the device doesn’t show up. Details:I have an environment with many Sonos devices, several of which are Alexa-enabled (Moves, Ones, Roam and the new Move 2). All are properly configured and work perfectly in the Sonos app. All work properly with Alexa. On this new Move 2, I have Alexa enabled and it works perfectly.I have added the Move 2 as a “speaker” to the group, “Office.” When I say, “Alexa, play music in the Office,” it works. I have other smart devices in the group “Office” and would like to control them with this Move 2 by saying “Alexa, turn on the lights.” To do that, I need to edit the group and add the Move 2 as an Alexa-enabled device. Alexa says she's found my music selection and announces it's playing but there's no music. Alexa will play music on my phone but not with verbal requests. 

I have recently purchased an Era 100. It has been set up as per instructions and prompts and has been working fine until a few days ago. Alexa has not been responding to the command to turn off and the only way to turn it off has been to ask it to change radio stations then command it to turn off. The speaker is mainly set to Newstalk ZB talk radio station for most of the day. It turns on fine and adjusts volume when requested.  Any clues out there how to fix this?

I am trying to connect my Play 1 to the Alexa services.Alexa can see the Room, but not the device, nothing seems to allow the app to discover the Sonos Play 1.I have reset and rebooted, checked the software, the Sonos is working through traditional apps and services fine, but the alexa just cannot find it.What could i be missing?When i scan for the speaker, it finds a plug that is not in service - no idea why, but i have tried to search repetitively without success.The play 1 is on the same network as the alexa dot… i feel like i MUST be missing something…The skills to play have been enabled, the room is known to alexa but there are no speakers, i am getting desperate!Please any help would be great.Alexa not discovering my Sonos Play:1 | Sonos CommunitySimilar, to this, but resolution seems unclear

Alexa announcements generated from Alexa routines do not work on my Sonos One (2nd Gen). Although, announcements do work from voice activated commands.Announcement through routines also seem to work fine on Beam and Arc, it's just my Ones that it does not work. Confirmed the Ones have alexa setup properly.This was a previous tropic, but that topic was closed, and no resolutions were provided. So, I’m re-opening this issue. Hello,I have two Sonos Ones that I have now added as a stereo pair.  This seems to work great except for one thing.If I use an Alexa skill, the output only seems to come out of one speaker.  For example, if I open the Face the Music skill, I only hear the skill from one of the speakers.I believe that if I have a pair of Echo Dots then the skills will work in stereo, although I haven't enough dots to try this myself.Should Sonos be able to do the same thing or is it always limited to a single speaker for this kind of thing?I should say that I have enabled Alexa on both speakers.Ideally I would want Alexa to treat the 2 Ones as a single stereo device.

Dear community members,I’m living in a 2 floor house in wich I have several SONOS system. Same Wifi available on the 2 floors.1st floor : ARC, SUB, 2 One + 1 One in the kitchen. ARC + kitchen are connected to ALEXA2nd floor : 1 Move connected to Alexa, 1 ONE connected to ALEXA, 2 “old” ONE (not connected because not possible when they were launched) When I’m in a room in which the SONO is connected to Alexa and request Alexa to lauch radio or Music, Music starts in another room sometimes on the other floor ! I get crazy ! And often when I then request to stop, ALEXA doesn’t understand or stops music on another SONO.Another frequent issue : when I ask a question to ALEXA, it takes sometime more then 30 seconds to get an answer, often nothing happens ! More then one year ago, I never faced these issues, even with the same configuration !Does someone face the same issue ?

I just started with sonos ones (5x) coming from Alexa speakers.Immediately I hit this problem that the volume of alexa is the volume of sonos.That way alexa is unusable when the volume of the sonos is low. It is just impossible to hear the reply from Alexa.When music is playing round 2-6% alexa ls response is not hearable.Please can this be separately splitted?

I am using Amazon music (with arc home theater - arc, 2x era 300, sub 3) and if I start a playlist with Alexa, I don't see the music quality in the Sonos App (HD, Dolby, etc).  If start the same playlist through the Sonos Assistant (or app), I see the quality in the app. Questions: 1. Is the quality the same when starting a playlist through Alexa or is it better to start the playlist through the Sonos Assistant?2. Will music play in Dolby quality when starting from Alexa?  If so, is there a way to tell?  Thanks

I have a sonos beam and sonos roam. When I use Alexa it hears the commend and says it will play bbc sounds but never actually plays anything. With Spotify, it asks me to log in on the device on my phone and connect to the speaker, which I do but still doesn’t work when I go to voice commands. Anyone else having the same issue or know how to fix this?

What’s the Alexa command to play music that is already playing in another room to play on an Alexa enabled speaker in the room I’m currently in?

With apologies in advance since this topic has been addressed before…It is my understanding that Alexa can only be linked to Sonos in one location at time. So if we have a primary and secondary residence, when I travel to the secondary residence and try to use Alexa on Sonos there, I will have to unlink it from my primary residence. A workaround suggested was to set up a new Amazon account, but I don’t think this is possible since Amazon now requires a phone number for a new account. And you cannot use the same phone number for two different accounts. When I chatted with Sonos support today about this, this is what I was told: “There is no need to disable the Sonos skill when you want to use the second system.”Am I missing something? Can I now use Alexa on Sonos in both locations without having to disable one?Thanks.
