Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have one Sonos One working just fine with Alexa. I added another Sonos One and it plays fine but Alexa does not respond at all. I have no other Alexa devices and no devices have the same same (they are all named by the Sonos APP anyway). I have diasble the skill, forgot devices, renabled skill and re discoverd devices, but the second SonosOne still does not work??

This looks and sounds OK, but it simply does NOT work like a polished, finished product. My Sonos One arrived today, and it reacts like it is several versions behind the Amazon devices I have. Room recognition is buggy; then I started to come across issues like Flash Briefings do not play; I cannot rename it from Alexa (all my other Alexa devices respond to "Computer"), some announcements cut out halfway through, I cannot make/receive calls or Drop Ins - it says "calling with Alexa is..." (and cuts out), cannot play Apple Music, etc. It seems half finished. The majority of the advertising for the new Sonos with Alexa integration revolves around being able to tell Alexa to play music in the kitchen, the bedroom, everywhere, etc. but it seems that the Sonos app is overriding Alexa. It will say "Playing Ben Folds on Living Room" but then nothing happens. Is there a way to set this up differently? Am I doing something wrong? All of my devices are recognized within the Alexa app and the Sonos app.

I've followed all the instructions to connect Sonos to my Alexa. However, no matter what I ask Alexa to play she just plays the last song I played which is annoying and pointless. If I say "Alexa, play Take That in the Lounge" - Echo Dot says ok but just plays the last song I had played on my Sonos. Any ideas?

Email received today with promotional offer on Echo dot for existing Sonos customers. However, this does not seem to be valid for customers in the UK. Is there another code to use? or is this offer exclusively for Sonos customers in the US?

I have installed the Sonos 1 - when comunicating with the Sonos 1 from the Alexa App I get a "oops something went wrong message" - I assume this is why after changing the region and time settings in the app this is not updating the Sonos 1 - If I ask Alexa the time it is 8 hours out. Anyone know how to resolve this. Everthing else appears to work - I can select music on the app and it commuicates directly with the Sonos 1 and plays the request. (Obviously you wouldnt normally do this, that's the point of Alexa (voice control) but just wanted to prove the app was talking to the speaker in some form, even though it will not update the time and region settings. Hope someone has a solution.

HI all.. New to the forum and was wondering if anybody knows if i connect a bluetooth music device to the sonos one and use alexa to stream it to that device ? In brief, my sound system in the lounge is bluetooth, the sonos one is in the kitchen, so id like to be able to say to alexa "play this track in the lounge" and then it stream to the bluetooth device in the lounge.. recently purchased play one with alexa we cannot get alexa to connect to any music source. we have spotify premium, and now on recomendation from sonos we have amazon music. alexa tells us that we are she is not able to connect to music services. spent over 4 hours on the phone to sonos helpline over 3 calls. we have been promised a return call twice and we are still wating. ideas, help, suggestions please

Hi there! So I'm thinking about getting a 2nd Sonos One to create a stereo pair. And of course configure Alexa integration. Can someone comment on what happens with the Alexa integration with respect to how the microphones will work in that situation? Would the microphone and voice playback take precedence on one speaker? Or would the microphone need to be disabled on one of the speakers?

My new Sonos 1 insists on working 7 hours behind UK time - I have updated the app on phone to use UK GMT/set time for internet and timing shows was local time on iPhone but One/Alexa has USA time. How do I get Sonos 1 Alexa on local time?

Will we be able to play music through the Sonos One and my existing Play 1's and Playbar I have seen a review somewhere saying they canno be paired

First of all, I love the new Alexa skills for SONOS. What I would like to have is the ability for SONOS to output 100% of Alexa's output; not just music. My SONOS setup includes a playbar, 2 one's and a sub. For example, if I say, "Hey Alexa, what time is it?", I'd like her response to come through SONOS system and not her speaker. Any suggestions?

Does Sonos1 make my existing Amazon Alexa obsolete?

I have to say I have been along time Sonos proponent and supporter. I have owned my sonos amps since 2006 long before we had touchscreen or speaker options. I have always touted their support and reliability. Calling the One an Alexa device is horrible advertising and beyond misleading. The One can't do half the stuff my alexa's can do. I have have another third party speaker with alexa built in that does more than sonos. I understand it's a "beta" product officially but you are selling this Beta at $200 a pop and advertising features that just aren't there. Seems to me the logical solution would to have been to partner with amazon and someone mount a dot at the top of the speaker and have internal line in connection to the sonos speaker. Here is my list of needs from top to bottom. 1. Get basic alexa support (news, sports, skills etc) how you don't have this first and foremost is shocking 2. When I ask Alexa to play music it does it through the echo dot perfectly, however when I ask the same question but to play in my living room (name of my Sonos speaker) it says I have no music in my library? The problem is yes I have no music in my library, but I want it to steam music via Prime Music! So frustrating... The only way I can get the echo dot to stream music via Prime music is to say "play blah blah from Prime Music in my living room" which is long and tedious. And yes I have set my default music service to Prime Music! Where I am going wrong? Any help is much appreciated!

If I start music from Alexa in my Sonos 1 and ask to add kitchen or living room it will start but it starts a new, different station, on each speaker set. I’ve tried grouping them in the Alexa app too. Any suggestions? Diagnosis 8034377.

Hi I just purchased an Echo Dot. I have named the sonos devices in my house as per the guidelines and can control them in all rooms except the playbar in the kitchen. When I say "Alexa" the music goes quiet in the kitchen (and presumably all rooms at present) so it is communicating correctly with the playbar, I can even ask it to stop the music. But if I say "play Radio 2 in the kitchen" alexa says "playing BBC Radio 2 from TuneIn On Kitchen" but nothing happens. Same with playing any music from the Amazon Prime service. It did actually work the first day I had the device, not sure what happened as everything is as it was before.

I’ve been able to successfully use Alexa (4 dots) to control Sonos (7 speakers) using sw v 8 since it’s release - it’s been flawless. The wheels came off yesterday when I installed 8.1. Today’s 8.1.1 hasn’t fixed it. Now stuck with single track playback from albums, refusal to play different rooms, etc. Tech Support supposedly looking at it :-( I’m wondering if I have an IP address issue, ie do the dots remember the IP address at speaker discovery or do they purely use the speaker name when handing the Alexa voice command across from the Amazon cloud to the Sonos cloud? The speakers have historically been on DHCP and have likely changed ip address at or around the time of the update and wonder if this is contributing to the issue? I’ve since allocated static up addresses to ensure a static/stable configuration. Related to this I notice references in these threads to “forgetting” speakers in the Alexa App /Amazon. I’d like to do this so I can ensure Alexa isnt holding onto old up

I recently set up a Sonos bridge and have a single player (Play 3) set up properly. I have used the Play 3 without the bridge and Alexa worked fine. Not certain if this is an issue with the bridge or "Alexa". I can give Alexa a command and she says she is playing it but the Play 3 does not play. Anyone using a bridge with the echo dot? Hi, I very recently bought a sonos one and love it and the sound quality. Eventually will be getting the playbar. I use Apple Music and when I ask Alexa to move to the next song she keeps saying no music or something and only works with amazon music. How do I get Alexa to skip tracks and search my library for songs so I don't have to keep browsing through my phone / tablet? Many thanks. K

I've finished setting up my Sonos One in the Foyer location, but it doesn't work other than as a Play:1 or an Echo with no ability to play music unless I use the Sonos App. Steps: :"Alexa, what's the weather?" Actual/Expected: Successfully provides weather. Alexa, play Blondie in the Foyer. Actual: "I couldn't find anything called Foyer. To check device or group name go to settings in the Alexa app" Expected: Plays Blondie in the Sonos-defined Foyer. Also tried unsuccessfully with Sonos-defined Living Room and Master Bedroom which were long standing Sonos locations. Steps: "Alexa, ask Sonos to play Blondie" Actual: "Shuffling songs by Blondie on Ruth's Sonos One". No music plays, but it is clear Alexa knew where it should play it. Expected: Music plays on Sonos One which is assigned to the Foyer location in Sonos. Steps: "Alexa, play Blondie" Actual: "Shuffling songs by Blondie". No music plays. Many people have talked about ducking and the use of line in, so I won't go into detail. Discussed here: https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/amazon-dot-and-play-5-line-in-going-quiet-when-replying-from-alexa-6791469/#post16150889 However, the ducking has other unintended consequences. As a household with multiple Alexas and multiple Sonos zones: 1) Any utterance to Alexa anywhere in the home ducks Sonos playback 2) Sonos playback is ducked even if it was not originated via Alexa While I enjoyed the integration, the "cross-talk" interference makes the current implementation unusable. I hope the GA version sorts this out.

If I am playing music using Pandora, then ask Alexa to add something to a Shopping List, the music stops but never resumes. I have to then ask Alexa to start music again. Seems like music should simply get quieter as I'm talking to Alexa, and then resume previous volume after command is executed.
