Sonos Play 1 Software Update to include Alexa?
I've been waiting for a long time for the Alexa enabled Sonos. What I didn't know was going to happen isnthat I would have to buy all new Sonos Ones to get that feature. What I have loved about Sonos that you buy the speaker and it is supposed to get better through software updates...it's part of their marketing literature. What I don't understand is why is Somos deviating from this? I'm now required to buy more speakers to get the feature I want, making my old speakers obsolete? I don't want to have to drop another $1000 to update my home system...I'm only 3 years into building my Sonos system across my house. Please tell me there is a software update that will work with my Alexa Dots in the very near future. Very frustrated loyal customer, Ryan C
What can I do with clashing names for Alexa devices and Sonos devices ? For example I have an Alexa dot called kitchen and a sonos device called kitchen. When I ask alexa to play it defaults to music coming from the dot rather than sonos. I don't want to rename everything strangely as it doesn't make it user friendly... any ideas ?
How do you use Alexa devices separately after Sonos-Alexa setup?
I haven't put the update through yet, but I have two questions before I do. It looks like once the update is done, Sonos becomes the default to respond to an Alexa command. Sometimes I might prefer to use my Alexa devices separately. For example, I might want to use the Amazon Tap for its portability, or use the Echo Show which has a screen that can show album art, track titles, timers, etc. How would I phrase the voice request so that only the Alexa device responds and not the Sonos device? Also, although I think I will probably like using the Sonos voice control, if I decide I don't want to use it, Is there a way to turn it off and continue to use Sonos and Alexa separately the way I did previously?
Alexa With Sonos
When will Sonos integrate with Alexa? I see all of this information about the Sonos One, which sounds really cool, but from my reading if you already have an Echo or Echo Dot, you will be able to use that as controller as well - correct? I currently have several Sonos Connects in a central closet connected to in-ceiling speakers in all the main rooms of our house. Will I ever be able to use Alexa to say "Play X in the kitchen" and have the Sonos play from the in-ceiling speakers or no? Thanks!
Alexa voice feedback via Sonos Play:3
Hi all, I have 2 Sonos Play:3 devices in my house and one Echo Dot. I would like to see that the voice interaction that I have with Alexa is fed back via the Sonos Play speaker(s). Is this something that is possible or will that still go via the 'less nice' Dot speaker? Or do I have to buy a different Alexa powered device? Thanks Bjorn
Getting back to Sonos Queue after playing from alexa
I've noticed when playing Alexa content through Sonos that I can press "exit alexa" on the sonos app but how can I get back to the music queue using voice commands? It would also be helpful if in the future, it would resume the queue from where it was and not go all the way back to the top. Is there a full list of voice commands supported?
microphone with all ceiling speakers?
Now that sonos is playing so nicely with virtual assistants, it seems like there's some scenario where all the sonos speakers I'm putting around the house could also just include a microphone that can feed the assistant somehow. Anybody doing anything along these lines? Are there any ceiling speakers that have this ability?
Alexa and sonosnet
Hi. I use Sonosnet throughout my big old house to provide WiFi to all my android devices. It's brilliant and is fast and solid as a rock. I bought an Alexa echo dot. It's sat next to my kitchen play five. My Google pixel phone can see the Alexa and control my Sonos, and access the internet through Sonosnet WiFi. But Alexa will not see the Sonosnet....just the really week signal from my distant router. Any thoughts on how to get Alexa echo dot to connect to Sonosnet WiFi? Thanks
Wired Article about the Sonos/Alexa Integration
David Pierce of Wired has a good piece up on why the Sonos/Alexa partnership took so long. Side note: he mentions them pulling up Human by Rag 'n'Bone Man as their demo song. It does sound great on Sonos, and I've been listening to that CD almost constantly for the past few weeks. https://www.wired.com/story/how-sonos-made-alexa-sound-amazing/
Echo Sonos integration
For months there has been fevered speculation about, and impatience with, the planned integration of Echo and Sonos. It has very recently been announced that Sonos is planning its own voice activated device, presumably to compete with Sonos. Since this suggests that the long awaited integration is now less likely, it seems remarkable that this development has received no attention.
Will the echo dot and Alexa work with my existing Sonos speakers?
I've read conflicting stories, and evidently Sonos is going to offer a "smart speaker" Oct. 4th. And I read other reports that current speakers will work with Alexa. Will my current Sonos speakers work with Alexa, or do you need the new "smart speakers"?
Connecting Amazon Echo Dot with Sonos Connect and playing back via Playbar TV setup
Hi there can anyone help me please? My whole house is full of Sonos speakers ?. In my playroom I have Sonos playbar, subwoofer and a couple of play ones so the full setup. I am getting an Amazon echo dot and plan to connect it via the audio out to a Sonos connect so that when I speak to the dot it will go via the connect and I then want it to play via my set up in the playroom (playbar, sub, 2 play ones) So I want to know that if the TV is playing and I then say 'Alexa play something from Coldplay' will the Amazon echo dot send audio to the Sonos connect which will then automatically play via my playroom setup and turn the tv audio off? Also, once I have finished listening to music via the amazon dot, how can I then get the audio back for the TV?
So..it's been almost a year since the announcement. Alexa integration guys?
I'm totally cool with you taking time to get it right. But it was August of last year you announced Alexa integration. I've had an Echo for a while and honestly it is easier to tell it to play something, even if the sound is inferior to my play:5.
How will Alexa work with Sonos?
I've heard about the recent videos demonstrating the Alexa/Sonos integration and so far it looks like you can use Alexa to play, pause, etc. I'm curious if anyone knows how this integration is going to work? Is it just Alexa voice controlling the Sonos app? Or are things that you might have heard through the Echo/dot speaker going to play through the Sonos speakers? For example, if I ask for the morning briefing from Alexa, will that play through Sonos speakers? I ask because I find the Sonos app very cumbersome for a lot of things I normally do, like listen to audiobooks or podcasts and switching from listening at home to in my car, etc. If Alexa provides voice control for Sonos, that won't really change any of that. But if what would normally play through Alexa speakers will now play through Sonos speakers, that's a huge difference (I would love to be able to connect my phone via bluetooth to Alexa and then play off my phone through Alexa to the Sonos speakers). I know the arg
