Amazon Alexa and Sonos

I have an echo dot and spot and Sonos playbar5.1 (playbar, speakers and sub). Usually it works fine to say “Alexa set volume 2 on living room”. Living room being the name of the playbar setup. However Alexa will also often respond w two different responses upon receiving the above command. 1st response is “living room doesn’t support that”. And. 2nd response which I received multiple times today (for the first time) is “living room is not responding”. I may have fixed the second response by manually changing the playbar volume using the tv remote however the issue may occur again since I don’t know why it happened. In regards to the first response I don’t understand why sometimes the volume will change and other times not. I try very hard to state the command exactly the same each time I say it. Also I am the only inhabitant of the household so there is not an issue of different voices/persons giving the command. Anyone experience the same or have a solution?

Our family has been using Alexa/Echo since it’s beta trial about 3 years ago and we have about 6 units. So we had to get #sonosone. However, sonosone does not respond to Alexa commands as effectively as Echo. Either we have to get close to it or yell for it to respond. The unit is sitting on kitchen counter where we had Echo previously. Looking for feedback on how to get our sonosone working as effectively as our old Echo. Thank you

Is it possible to use Alexa voice command to synch with a Spotify streaming playlist, so that you can say "play songs by eminem" ??? I have it set up so you can start sootify pause, , and skip songs currently.

I want to use my SONOS speakers for playback of Echo Dot results. For example, when I ask Alexa, "Alexa, what are today's headlines?" instead of the results playing on the Echo Dot's crummy speaker, I would like the results to play on my SONOS speakers. Any way to make this work?

Before Christmas I was able to start Deezer playing from my phone and tell Alexa to play next song. Now she says she can only change playback mode when music is playing. Why has it lost this ability and can anyone help me get it back please?

Due to WiFi interference in my home causing problems with my Sonos speaker system I added a Sonos Boost. This worked very well in improving the stability and availability of my speakers. It did, however, break the integration with Alexa. Alexa can no longer see my speakers. The Alexa device discovery doesn't work. I'm guessing it's because when using the Sonos Boost the speakers appear in my router connected devices table as hardwired, not a wireless device. My system consists of 5 Play 1's, 1 Subwoofer and 1 Boost. Alexa voice control worked fine with these speakers before the switch to the Boost. Is there a workaround for this that will allow Alexa to see them? If not, I hope that others have reported this and Sonos is working on a solution.

I've tried linking the Alexa Sonos skill to my account and the Skill points me in the direction of "More/Settings/My Sonos Account" in the Sonos app. It then asks me to confirm my email which i do and also sends an email in which there is a link to Create New Password (which isnt what i want to do). I click on that and it takes me back to My Sonos Account where i start all over again. Any thoughts anyone? Cheers

I've been trying to add Alexa and have not been able to by following the prompts on the Sonos app. I get to the screen that says "Steps to set up Alexa" - then hit the "connect your amazon account" and then I get an error saying "There was a problem adding Alexa. Any clues on how to solve this?

I have a 3 story townhome with multiple Sonos, Play 1(2), Sound bar, amps, Play 3 etc. on different floors and I use Amazon Echo on the floors too. I do have a son that lives with me and was using an Amazon Echo at night to play a fan sound (white noise) at night to reduce any noise he may hear when I get up. I bought him a Sonos Play 1 for Christmas to use for this purpose plus to listen to music etc in his bedroom. I have read that when we use the Echo dot in my room to turn off/on lights etc, it reduces the volume of the one in his room (phrase is ducking I have learned). In deciding on how to resolve this issue, since I usually am up for work at 4:30am, taking dogs out etc, I thought I could setup a guest network on my Eero system and he could connect his to that network and it would stop the ducking. The Sonos play 1 will not connect to it at all. So it's a secondary network on the same router. Not sure if the issue is the Sonos or it's the network. Is this at all possible? We

As the title states, have recently purchased a sonos one with the added Alexa voice services. But whenever I try to use Alexa to play music through Spotify it keeps saying that it’s not supported, have looked at similar threads and tried all the steps they list but still can’t get it work. My Spotify account is a premium family account. Any help will be much appreciated Kind regards

I have bar, two ones and sub connected to new Samsung TV. When listening to music and tv off I continue to get a loud pop noise periodically. Any ideas how to correct or what cause? I may return system if can't resolve as very annoying.

i deregistered my device on my sonos one through the alexa app thinking it would then allow me to register it on a different one, now it skips over the amazon sign in and auto connects to my old acoount-EVEN THO ITS DEREGISTERED- and i cant figure out how to change it....

I wanted to get a answer to a couple of questions I have with the Sonos/Echo/Dot integration: I already have an Echo which is currently in the bedroom and am thinking of expanding the home system to include my current home cinema system, 2 other Play 1's and possible another Dots/Echo, but am unsure of the setup. Will I be able to setup a home system that comprises of Echo's and Play 1's that are assigned to specific rooms, will they function the same as if I just has Play 1's in each room? Do I need a Sonos Connect to add my home cinema into the system, or can I just add a dot to it now and have that connect it into it? (Dot connected to the Amp?) Any help appreciated

First of all this is not a request to support grouping sonos with sonos speakers for particular rooms, rather this is a request or an inquiry to find out if there are any plans (or rather that there should be plans) to support "grouping" of Alexa Echo Speakers with Sonos Speakers. In my opinion, if the desire is to be truely agnostic of AI (Alexa, Google Home, Siri, etc.) then supporting other speakers (third parties or by Amazon, Google, or Apple) in unison is a must. If i am sonos owner it is obvious i want to use more sonos products together because they are truly sound (no pun intended) and quality speakers, however if I want an AI in my house (alexa for instance) i want it to be supported everywhere even if i invested in an Alexa Echo Plus (for instance). If you only allow to have Alexa control sonos and all Echo Speakers or other third party speakers are blocked away then you are seriously limiting the user as they will not be able to benefit from let's say buying an E

I can't get my windows laptop to transmit sound to the sonos 1. They are both hooked up to my wifi network and the network is 2.4gz.

Hi, I have the Sonos One and am attempting to pair it with the Alexa App on iOS, well... I am able to add the Sonos to my "Smart Home Devices", however if I go to the settings then it displays as "Offline". No matter what I request, the result is the same... "Here's your request... I'm not sure what went wrong" • I have tried disabling the app and enabling it again. • I have reset the Sonos, and apps multiple times. • I have followed a few guides on this forum, such as https://en.community.sonos.com/amazon-alexa-and-sonos-229102/sonos-one-not-responding-to-alexa-comands-6793239 I've been on the phone to Sky as I thought this may be an Internet-related issue, but everything is fine on their end. The device shows as connected on my router admin page. This is set up on a 2.4GHz wireless network, but the problem persists when cabled. Is anybody able to provide any further assistance with this? I’m unable to link my new sonos one to the Alexa app. I’ve set up as per instructions on the sonos app and have downloaded Alexa app and have tried to link via the skills tab but am told to go to device set up but only given options off echo, echo plus, echo dot and tap so no option to and sonos and when attempting to add device via smart home tab it repeatedly comes up with discovery failed. Have asked Alexa to discover devices and it cannot find it. Any suggestions

I've set up Sonos One (my first Sonos purchase), and connected it with Alexa (I have one Echo Dot). Under my Amazon Alexa device settings, I am showing two (2) Sonos devices, is that right? During setup, I had to do a password reset at one point, and I have also subsequently renamed the "room" my Sonos One is in, several times... I'm concerned this is the cause. One of the Sonos devices showing in Alexa settings is clearly my Sonos One, with completed settings, and the correct current rename. The other one has a different serial number, a mangled version of the rename, incomplete address and timezone settings... Are there supposed to be two (2) there? Thanks in advance for any insight...

I can't set up Alexa on my SONOS One as it says that it is not available in my country, but i am in the UK which is listed alongside the US and Germany as being available. How can I set it up please?

Hello Got myself an echo dot to make life easy to play music on my sonos for things like when I’m cooking and can’t use my hands to control using the phone. I’ve not been overjoyed to say the least!! I’ve looked at the video on how to connect and even tried the command it says on the video ‘ Alexa play jazz in the kitchen’ it responds with’ no music found’ Can’t get anything to play....I know that we are still waiting for Spotify. But I thought I could get at least the tunein app to play something???

Sonos 1/Alexa both installed on android phone, twice! both can "see" all sonos speakers but Alexas not connected to internet. Sonos app can't bring up Amazon as speaker devise. Amazon say's change WiFi settings but still can find Amazon.:?

The first response about the stupid ducking is that it was amazons fault and the room groups would fix it. Now they added room groups and it’s still a stupid problem. Come on Sonos! I have been working with your products for 12 years and you have been the greatest company to work with but I feel like on this issue (and the new app being crap) you are hiding in bed.

When I ask Alexa to play something on Spotify, "Alexa, play Purple Rain on Spotify", the command is recognized, but then Alexa says you need to link your Spotify account to Alexa. When I try to link my Spotify account in Alexa/Music,Video, and Books, the app says App Support Unavailable. What am I doing wrong here?
