Voice control and smart home

I have a Sonos Playbar in my lounge and Play 1's in two other downstairs rooms. I purchased an Echo and set it up in the lounge near to the Playbar. I enabled Sonos and whilst the Echo plays music on the Play 1's, it won't work on the Playbar. Instead the music in the lounge comes from the Echo speakers. What can I do to make the Echo use the Playbar?

I have surround sound built in my living room. If I got a Play One. Would it be able to pair with 2 play 3s and a playbar? Playing music, would it come out of all speakers?

My Daughter's name is Alexa so the name does not work in our house...will there be an update to change the name for the Sonos 1?

Am trying to add the Sonos skill to the Amazon Alexa App on my iPhone but when I link the account and get the @Sign into Sonos using your Amazon Account" screen it is not recognising my Amazon password (which I know is correct). Also getting the same behaviour on my iMac using the Amazon Alexa App online. Have tried to reset my Amazon account password but still not working. Anyone any ideas?

I am wondering if there is a definitive answer to weather or not a Philip Hue bridge V1 (round one!) works with Alexa, as i have tried multiple times uninstalling Alexa from the ONE removing All skills etc etc. Alexa cannot detect the bridge or the lights..........i have seen mutiple questions like this, but the only posts that seem to have the ONE/Alexa successfully find a Hue bridge are the users with a V2 bridge....any insights??

My Sonos One is driving me crazy. I can use it with Alexa to play music in other rooms. But when I ask it to stop the music, or change the volume, or play a different song, Alexa says: "I can change the playback mode only when music is playing." The only way to adjust the music in the other room is to use the Sonos App. Has anybody else encountered a fix? I have five Amazon echos or dots, and five Sonos boxes of various types. I have taken the whole system down and back up, and restarted the Sonos Skill in Alexa and recognized all devices. Nothing so far has changed this behavior. I've owned Sonos' for 13 years and never had these kind of problems with set up. It feels like I'm dealing with a Microsoft product.

It seems like after the most recent upgrade my mic does not work any more. If the Mic does not turn off / on is the unit defective?

The Sonos One webpage states "Everything that Alexa does - Play songs, check news and traffic, manage smart devices and enjoy all those other helpful Amazon Alexa skills using a single Sonos speaker." However, reading the forum and other sites, this doesn't seem to be quite true. We've be using an Amazon Echo Dot for a while, and find it to be really useful. I was looking for a multi-room speaker solution for an extension that we are building, and was considering Sonos Play:1 until I saw the Sonos One. However, I am concerned that if the functionality of Alexa is limited, this will irritate us. I realise that Sonos will be able to add software updates and new features, but we don't have a roadmap as such. Could we reasonably expect that the Alexa integration in the Sonos One will reach parity with Amazon Echo, or will it always be a poorer cousin?

Just got Sonos one and assigned it to the Kitchen but would like to place in master bedroom. When I change name/location in settings in both the Sonos and Alexa app., Alexa still says "master bed room off line". When I switch back to kitchen it works. Is it possible to reset the device?

So I just connected a new Echo to my system and if I say ask Alexa to shuffle a music she gets on and does it. However if I say Alexa play Taylor Swift or Northern artist on Kitchen for. Instance. She says I can't find songs y Gaydon Swift. If I say play Taylor Swift Album on Kitchen she says playing samples of 1989 by Taylor Swift and just plays a few seconds from each song. I have tried various artists and albums and ways of asking the question and the best I can get is short samples from an album by the artist? Can someone help please. Am I doing something wrong? I apologize for such a long post. I want to start by saying that I have enjoyed my Sonos system very much. The Sonos hardware is exceptionally high quality for the price, both aurally and visually. I am saddened that these last few weeks I have some doubts about my purchase decision. Currently I have: 14 Play:1s 4 Play:5s 2 Subs 1 Playbar 4 Connects 1 Boost I also have: 14 Echo Dots 1 Echo 3 Echo Shows I have two more Echo shows on the way and have pre-ordered two Echo Spots. I was planning to order more Sonos gear: 2 Play:5s, a sub and 2 Play:1s (or Sonos Ones). I have put these plans on hold and I am taking a wait and see attitude. Here are the reasons: 1) The new software is not user friendly. I won't list all of the problems, but the white background, and the added clicks and less intuitive interface are the major ones. 2) The Alexa Skill is seriously broken. Am I the only one (I'm in the UK) who's having big problems with Alexa today? It was fine yesterday but today it won't play anything, works fine through sonos app. I try spotify it says not supported, I try amazon and it says I don't know what went wrong, tune in doesn't respond. Other commands like good morning or what time is it work but Alexa is slow to respond. Is Alexa overloaded for Christmas?

Hi! I have set up alexa and sonos today. Alexa found both devices (Living Room and Kitchen), but it doesn't work in the living room. I can see both devices in the app...but alexa says she cant find the Living room. Kitchen works fine. Why? I have a Sonos 3 in the Kitchen and a Sonos 5 in the Living room (both ver 1).

What is the reason that a one and play 1 can't make a stereo pair? I know they can't but what is the Sonos reasoning or technical issue. Is it so people have to buy 2 ones, a sales decision. Is it something that could become possible in future? Is the speaker just acoustically too different to pair

You can not use a play 1 with alexa and play1 with out alexa ...... Sonos need to update there software and quick..... So it means you have to use two sonos with alexa for ur surround sound.... so ur talking to two alexa devices in the same room... And they could have kept the colour the same so the speakers dont look odd when you use them together as surround sound...!!!!!!! UPDATE THE SOFTWARE QUICK

Please update so we can change wake word. This is a big deal in us keeping Sonos or not.

Every time we ask Alexa a question, it interrupts music playing on every Sonos speaker in the house while Alexa listens and then responds to the question. This is incredibly annoying. Is there a way to prevent all of the speakers from temporarily turning off when we use Alexa? Thanks.

When I play a Pandora station via my Alexa echo dot it seems to not be using the Pandora account I have linked in the Alexa app. In the Sonos app the current song screen does not have the usual Pandora thumbs up/down icons, and the dots menu does not have the usual entries like bookmark song, new station from this track, etc. The music mix is also not what I'm used to as my past thumbs up/down prefs are not being used. This is really a deal breaker for me as a enjoy Pandora stations for the prefs I've logged over time. Giving that up to avoid some clicks on my phone's Sonos app is not worth it. Either this is a bug, limitation of the integration, or I'm missing some part of Alexa setup. Anyone else have this issue or know how to resolve? Thanks!

I have recently purchased a Sonos One to go with my existing Sonos speakers and was hoping to add voice control. However, after connecting the speaker, the app claims voice control is not available in my country. I am in the UK and my account country is set as UK, can anyone suggest why the app is refusing to recognise this?

Alexa was having trouble understanding commands (like pause, stop, or play) suddenly, and even after the most recent update, it's still not working. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or knows a fix. It seems I can only control music on the Sonos app now, and not at all through voice commands.

I ask Alexa to play a radio station from tune in, it then says "capital radio from tunein, playing on bedroom , SORRY bedroom is offline". I have read every forum tried so hard just cant do this bit and get her to just play a station. She will tell me the weather, so why cant I get her to connect to the radio. I can play a station if I set it on my phone, just cant get her to find it on her own. ALL help appreciated.

I’m curious, if you have multiple Ones in the same room (either as stereo pair or both standalone), do they all listen for Alexa commands? Or do you select just one to manage the voice control? How well does this work? I know having multiple echos and Echo dots can be a bit clunky as they will both listen and then decide after activation which one will process the request.

So, I know these threads tend to generate some heated debate, but this is my view and my feedback to Sonos. I also know very well what a Beta programme is, and have worked for a major OS vendor and know exactly what good or harm such public betas can do for a product. I don't think you can call this a beta product. It's more an open Alpha test which IMO is very risky. I get that this whole market is evolving rapidly, and is getting very competitive, so missing out on being there is in itself a risk, but sometimes being open and honest about the problems that are not yours can do wonders for public perception. I've had Sonos since 2009 and now have a mix of Connects, and Play speakers for different rooms. Most of my listening is via local library, but I do find myself using streaming more and more, with Qobuz being my favourite service. So straight away, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage. New to Sonos. Gone through searches on this subject. Tried many. I own 2 play ones. Located in kitchen and family room. Sound and play great with sonos app. Can use voice command with Alexa to play in both rooms and can manually switch each on and off with Sonos app. Unfortunately the devices are not discoverable in Alexa so I can’t voice command room choices.
