Voice control and smart home

I don't know if the updates messed it up but Alexa isn't working with spotify anymore. When I ask her to play a song she says she is but she doesn't. Or the worst part is that I ask her to pause the music when I started spotify on the speaker from my phone and she says she paused it but it continues to play. Please help. I even tried to factory reset my sonos one and it still continues to have these problems.

I can control all of my Sonos products with Echo Show but Echo Show will not play music when Sonos does. I have tried to give Echo a duplicate command but it says its already streaming music to other players. Sonos tech support could not help me with this.

So I got myself an Echo dot, I connected it with an RCA-Y cable to the line in of my Sonos Connect. During setup I can hear the audio feedback of Alexa coming over the speakers connected to the receiver of the connect. However, when I tell the wake word and ask Alexa anything no audio feedback is coming through the speakers. I attached my Sonos configuration of the connect. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, I've bought an echo dot to use with the Play:3 that's in my bedroom. I've had the play 3 for a number of years and it happily plays anything I ask it to from my Amazon Music Unlimited account when using the phone app. However if I try to use voice control via Alexa to play music, it will only play things that have been added to 'My Library', it won't search and play from the general streaming service. The streaming service is available on my Sonos system, as described above it works fine when I control from the phone app, but it won't let me via voice control. If I ask Alexa to play a piece from that is only available from the Amazon Music Unlimited streaming service it will happily play it out over the dot's little speaker, if I then ask Alexa to 'Play this music in my bedroom' it will happily transfer the playing music to the Sonos Play:3 in my bedroom. Proving that it is actually possible for it to do it. So my question is : Why can't I just ask Alexa to do this d

I've been having problems with Alex voice control over a pair of Sonos One speakers I recently added to an existing Echo. While poking around the Alexa app I found 5 speakers listed -- Echo, Living Room (Sonos), Master Bedroom (Sonos), First Sonos One and Second Sonos One. The 4 Sonos speakers have 4 individual serial numbers listed. Only Living Room and Master Bedroom are listed in the Sonos app, but the Alexa app says the two other speakers, not Living Room and Master Bedroom, are online. Can I assume the two "MyName" speakers are just duplicates that were created when I inadvertently asked the Alexa app to search a second time for speakers on the network. Should they be deleted? How do I do that? If so, will the Living Room and Master Bedroom speakers automatically go "online"? Thanks.

I read today on CNet that ROKU is initiating a license program to work with streaming audio equipment, which I assume could include SONOS. We have a SONOS multiroom system to which we just added a SONOS One, which provides Alexa voice control capability. We love the SONOS One and the voice control over our entire SONOS system its Alexa connection permits, but we're finding that its practical utility is limited the absence of a visual reminder of precisely what is accessible through our SONOS system so we can know how to ask for it, as we can so easily do when using the SONOS phone app with its visual display. I believe controlling SONOS by voice would be GREATLY improved if accompanied by a visible reference screen. So this ROKU announcement makes me wonder whether SONOS can take advantage of a relationship with ROKU to facilitate an onscreen display to assist SONOS users more easily 'voice control" their SONOS systems by displaying onscreen the user's own SONOS system'

I just bought my first Sonos product today in the Sonons One. It's replacing my Alexa as that unit has sub par audio quality. I followed all steps to set up alexa with the One however I'm not able to control my Philips hue kitchen lights like I was before with voice command. This is a function of the smart home skills in Alexa. Is it not possible with Sonos One or am I doing something wrong?

Hi there Sonos community, This is probably a very early question to ask but I have been waiting to buy Sonos just for the Alexa integration. And now they are releasing the Sonos One YAY 😃. BUT... when preordering it says "Voice control for Sonos is not supported in your country, yet". Alexa is actually not supported in Sweden but I have imported it and it works but somewhat limited in regards to location services etc.That doesn't really bother me since I use it to control my Philips Hue, entertainment setup and of course timers when cooking food. I recently purchased the Logitech Harmony Hub Elite which Alexa doesn't fully support in Sweden (location restricted skill). I have managed to get around it using Yonomi but missing out on play/pause/volume up/volume down functions. I know Yonomi works with Sonos but will Alexa actually work in the Sonos One in Sweden. We have Alexa in every room, as first time Sonos One users, I would like to know if we place the two new Sonos Ones in our living room,(Stereo Paired) can we control them with the Alexa in our Kitchen, and if playing music, will both Sonos and Alexa play music at the same time? Alexa - what a piece of junk. I'm serious. :@ I ask it to play a group (Cream today) and it will either play one, or if I'm lucky two songs then stop. Or if it does move to a third song it plays rap. Rap for God's sake. The last thing I want to listen to is rap crap. I asked it to play sixties music today. Two songs and silence. I've been living with the Sonos One since release date 10/24/17. I am very pleased with Sonos One/Alexa marriage. Before the Sonos One with Alexa I was using a Google Home device with Chrome Cast Audio to play music through my Sonos Play 5's in stereo pair with Sonos Sub. I also used Google Home to control my lights which brings me to the point of this conversation. Using the Sonos One with Alexa for IoT devices such as the Philips Hue works in harmony with Google Home! I can control my lights with one or the other and it doesn't matter with which device the original command was given. That said I wonder if when Google Home assistant is made available to the Sonos One will we have to choose a default (i.e. Alexa or Google Home). I hope they might work together as Google Play Music has it's offerings as does Amazon Prime Music. Hi Sonos Community! From being perfectly functioning, yesterday my One stereo pair just started becoming extremely buggy: 1. Alexa stopped working just stopped working completely responding "sorry something went wrong" to any command related to music services 2. I get the "1001" error code when trying to start a song manually in the app. Sometimes it works but can barely play a full song (just become silent after a while). Commands like "Alexa, discover my devices" works perfectly. Extremely frustrating as it is New Years eve tomorrow and we will have a bunch of friends coming over. Would appreciate any help here!

Hello, I have a now a few sonos products. This is my set set up: Living Room: Play 3 2 times Sub Playbar Kitchen One Bedroom Play 1 Bathroom: Play 1 Now if i use alexa it will not pair my groups and if i say for example volume 2 only the Sonos One will change its volume. How can i do this and other tips and tricks the use of spotify is not as easy she will not play anything i say. Kind Regards, Roy

I have 4 x play 1's and Sonos ONE these are all located in different parts of the house. on the Alexa app I have created a group called everywhere and added all the speakers to that group. If I ask Alexa to play xyz everywhere it says it cant find a device or group called everywhere to create a group go to the settings in your Alexa app. When I go to the app the group is already there and created, I have tried deleting the group and reforming it but still get the same message. What I am trying to do is simply create a grouping of speakers and get Alexa to my Spotify playlist through that group. Is this possible ?

I have 2 Ones in a stereo pair Alexa is working on both but independently sometimes shouting Alexa the left speaker responds other times its the right, it can sometimes be I am standing next to the left speaker but its the right that wakes up or visa versa more often than not neither respond. My question is should I have Alexa working on both my Ones if so are there plans to have them act as one i.e. both Ones listen for the wake word with Alexa replying out of both. Does anyone know if the "Alexa tell me a bedtime story" feature will work on the sonos one? I just set up 2 with my playbar as a surround sound. All other Alexa features seem to work but this one. It works up until it's time for the speaker to read the story. Anyone know if this is an issue? Thanks!!

I'm an Amazon Prime customer so I have access to their Prime Music service, though it's not the unlimited version; which I understand to mean that a subset of the music in Amazon's catalog is included for streaming but not everything. My question is ... when I enable Alexa on the Sonos One, by default, the device is authorized by my Amazon account. Does that mean when I tell it, for example, "Alexa, play Jimi Hendrix", the only songs it will select are those which are free per my Prime account? In other words, can I be confident that Alexa won't select an artist's songs not included in my account and charge me for playing them? My intent with enabling Alexa was to use it to play music from my personal library on my NAS, but learned on this community that this isn't an option (and I concur with the vast majority of comments that this a huge gap in the product's functionality). Hi, as an avid user of Alexa on my Sonos One, I was delighted to see that Amazon have now made Alexa available in Ireland. Any plans to make the integration available to Sonos users with Irish addresses sooon? I also notice I can no longer control my smart home devices via my Play One, is this a bug or related to the Amaazoonn change?
