Hi,I am planning to renovate my apartment.I would like to have in ceiling speaker in my bathroom.I see they are sold as pair, I think only one would be enough in this room.my question is:Can I put on speaker in my bathroom and one other in the kitchen for example.and connect them to the same connect amp but use it as different channel? also what kind of wires do you recomand?and my ceiling will be made from Ba13, would that do the job? Won’t there be vibrations? Should I add like mdf plate on the back of ba13 for better support? Thanks Mael
I have two systems set up. One for home theater. This consist of Beam 2, Sonos sub, and two Sonos Ones for rear. Perfect…For music I have the Sonos Amp connected to two Klipsch floor speakers and two Bose shelf speakers, with a Klipsch sub. Very nice, I usually set the music system to full, however I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to add two more Sonos Ones for the ambient effect as well. This new system of music is meant to replace my old system where I enjoyed full surround sound for my music. Music matter a lot to me.
Hi there,I’ve read many of the posts on using Port for connecting turntables and older systems, but I’m still not 100% on the right solution.I’m basically looking to add a couple Sonos Ones and a Beam to my TV/Turntable/Apple TV/Nintendo to Receiver set up. I want the option to have everything that’s currently connected to my receiver play through my wired speakers/Subwoofer as well as the new Ones and Beam. - Do I need to run the turntable into the Port, wouldn’t it make sense to keep the turntable connected to my receiver and somehow line-out everything in the receiver to the Port? - I’d still switch the receivers source input depending on what device I want to use (turntable, apple tv, nintendo) correct? - And just to mention, I’m currently using an older Sony Str-dh540 (image below) but planning to upgrade that eventually. Is there anything I should be considering when searching for a new receiver for a situation like this? I thought Sonos AMP might be an option, but my TV only h
I am new to Sonos. I wanted to setup Sonos Speaker. Can I play Sonos Speaker through Bluetooth. Help me with guiding steps.
starting a thread for all Arc and LG OLED TV owners that have the sound cutting in and out issue. there’s a thread with Samsung TV owners that had the issue resolved with the latest update released on 3/9. Can LG owners get some support?
Hello I recently noticed that music quality when listening thru spotify connect is better than airplay. I normally prefer to use original streaming app than Sonos S2 for listening. Anybody else also noticed the difference when listening thru spotify connect vs airply?
I bought a new Arc a few weeks ago to replace my Samsung sound bar and then was given a Gen 1 Play 5 which I was hoping to add to and then use as a rear surround. However I now find that the Play 5 only works with the S1 app and thus is not compatible with the Arc.I would like to avoid buying new due to the cost so is there any restrictions or guides as to what play Ones or One SL’s will work with the Arc?Many Thanks.
The fireplace is 76” wide with frame and the TV is LG GX 77” OLED. To maximally lower the TV for viewing height we placed everything as close to floor as safe. There is 10.5” below fireplace (fireplace to floor) and there is 10.5” inches between fireplace and bottom of TV. Ceiling is 12 feet total height with 5’5” between top of TV and ceiling. I need advice where to place ARC and if at all possible. Problem is if it is between fireplace and TV then it will possibly have too much heat from fireplace. Arc above TV is only safe option to me but has anyone tried it? Thank you for your advice.
Hi there,I have a LG TV and use a Google Chromecast with Google tv to stream tv. I recently bought a Beam gen 2 and 2 Sonos one that I set them up as a surround system. The Beam is connected to the ARC port and Google tv to standard HDMI.When I watch Netflix using Google tv the audio output is Stereo PCM but if I watch the same movie using the Netflix app buildin the LG TV the audio output is Dolby Atmos 5.1 . My tv only support Netflix and Prime so this is an issue for me. Does anyone else have the same issue and or a solution or suggestions? Thank you!
I have some local .Mp3 music and am unable to save a que as a Playlist. I find the Playlist process awkward. I simply wish to create Playlists from my locally stored music within Sonos that persist. I found several pre-made lists I would like to remove.
Hi,Sonos has discontinued support for Windows 7. I have my Sonos library on a Windows 7 PC. I am concerned that if I update the iOS app, it will no longer work with my PC/library.Do we know that updated iOS apps will retain compatibility with my “Sonos Controller for PC” v13.2?I would prefer not to update this PC as it does everything I need it to. We all know that Windows updates can cause problems. Thank you,Morty
I am doing a renovation with walls and ceilings open and think I want to go down route of Sonance in ceiling speakers throughout the home and the one area I am confused about is my living room / home theater set up. Previously I had floor standing speakers, center speaker over fire place and two rears behind / the the side of my couch which is pushed against a wall all connected to a Denon Receiver. My preference is to eliminate the floorstanding, center + rears and go with in ceiling speakers connected to Sonos Amps since it is really the main living area that happens to have large couch + TV vs dedicated home theater set up. If I go with the Sonos Amp to power in ceiling speakers throughout my home, can the in ceiling speakers pull double duty to connect to my receiver when I want to watch movies. Am I just supposed to scrap my Receiver and use the Amps instead If so how do i set it up? I see the user guide for amps suggests 3 speakers near front of TV (L C R) and then two re
Hi All,I’m new to SONOS. Planning to purchase 1 pair of SONOS ONE/SL for complete home theater system. This will be integrated with Arc + Sub Gen3.My concern regard to ONE/SL placement since I were not allowed to have wiring or cables dwells on my living floor and that makes thing complicated.Currently undergoing full wiring work at my home, so would like to use this opportunity to place sonos one/sl plug point against the wall however it will be at the edge of ceiling at my rear seat. The length of my living will be 18 feet long. and width is about 14 feet long. This are the planned setup, my only option is to set ONE/SL at the edge of wall ceiling. This will be the beam of my staircase hence no space to lower the ONE/SL at the wall site. It must at the edge. The ARC placement will be about 2 feet from wall since this comes with 75” TV and TV cabinet placement. Also the distance to seat is another 10.5 feet due to the TV size.Is this design do-able, also that i tilt the sonos one/SL horiz
Hello everybody, I have been using the Sonos arc with my LG TV for 4 months now and I have to report some of the issues, that hopefully will get fixed sooner or later.I hope this could be useful for other people too and please let me know whether you have found any fixes. #1 Selctive sync issue:External Source: No issue with PC audio No issue with Nintendo Switch audio. Internal apps: No issue with Netflix No issue with disney+ Big anticipation on you tube Big anticipation on Prime video My major problem is that the “sonos app” lip sync tool is not so precise. It would be nice to add a sytem where we could input the “exact millisecond”. The “+1, +2 or +3” system add either too much or too few delay.I am not sure what’s happening though, the signal is supposed to be pass through (I set it like that), so I am not undestanding why the TV is so much slower to show the pictures. Probably an LG problem, but it is super annoying. At least, add the millisecond option.#2 HDMI-CEC simply link
We have a couple stero pair of sonos One speakers in the lounge which we use just for the radio mainly and occasional streaming from Amazon Music. I have been thinking of sorting out a hi fi set up for another room just for vinyl and CD mainly. I like the Sonos sound and was possibly thinking of buying a Rega turntable, Rotel CD player and Sonos 5 speaker, unsure if i would need one or two speakers as yet. I notice there is only one input on the speaker, how would i connect both Rega and Rotel to it. Any help appreciated, or any other alternatives, or would i be better just buying a hi fi amp, cd player and speakers.
One of the things I regularly use Sonos for is listening to Audible before I go te sleep. Of course the audio on Sonos is waaay better than when I listen to audible on my phone, but there are some downsides when using Sonos instead of my phone for this, especially when it comes to sleep mode:In the Audible app (when using my phone/headphones instead of Sonos) there are 2 sleep mode options I really like:choosing a custom time for sleep mode (they give some standard options, but you can also select after how many minutes you want it to stop, whereas Sonos only gives some options (15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc.) choosing the option “end of chapter” for sleep mode; it will automatically stop after the chapter. (Even better imho, would be if you could choose after how many chapters/tracks you want it to stop). Is there any way to get the above on a backlog/wishlist?
I’m on the verge of forking out some cash for premium wired over-ears. Currently driving a pair of Wharfedale EVO 4.1 with my Sonos Amp and wondering how to use the Amp as source for my headphones to play. I understand the Amp does not have a headphone jack? Do I need to buy a headphone amplifier the will connect to the Amp and then send signal to the headphones? If the above is possible, and I connect the headphone amp to the Sonos Amp and then to the headphones, should I stream or play anything through the Amp, won’t the sound playback go to both the Wharfedale speakers AND the headphones? How could I have speakers AND headphones connected to Amp and decide which will be playing?Thank you all.
Hi guys! i’m pretty new to Sonos world. I just bought the new beam gen 2. I connected it via hdmi arc to my sony KD65XH9096 but i have an annoying audio lag/delay both with tv and ps5. I tried to correct via sonos app but i can only increase the delay and not decrease. How can i solve this??
Hi all - I’ve got a new Arc connected to an LG CX (eARC HDMI port, eARC enabled, pass through enabled).I’m having MAJOR issues with dialogue (and Trueplay). For example, when watching a talk show or the news via digital terrestrial tv and the sound is dialogue only, it sounds like the voices are coming from a small muffled box. I held my ear to the Arc and during these kinds of scenes the vocals are only coming from the central speaker(s).As soon as there is additional sound, say background music or effects, the vocals are boosted and sound perfect! When I hold my ear close to the Arc during these scenes I can hear that the dialogue is now coming out of the centre and also the left and right speakers. In a show where it switches from dialogue to dialogue with additional sounds though, the voices keep going from muffled to perfect. It’s awful. What’s worse is when I try a Bly-ray (in this case David Copperfield DTS-HD Master Audio (via a Sony UBP-X800M2) ALL the dialogue sounds muffled!
I am successfully importing playlists into my desktop Sonos app with a *.m3u extension. I would like to be able to also import playlists with a *.m3u8 extension, which is an updated version of the older one. Sonos will not import these. Am I missing something or is this “normal?” Both versions are pretty old, so I’m surprised Sonos doesn’t recognize the latter. If this is normative, will you add it to “new features” in a future release?
Hi. I have 15 Sonos speakers connected in various configurations across several rooms. Two of the speakers are first generation Play 5’s controlled via the S1 app. The rest are controlled via the S2 app. Both systems are rock solid and perform flawlessly independent of each other. I have purchased a Sonos Roam and have attempted to connect the speaker to my system using the S2 app. The system appeared to get confused during set up stating the new roam required an update. During this update the speaker disappeared from the S2 app. For some reason it is now only visible on the S1 app. I’m fully aware its not compatible with the S1 app. I am now unable to remove it from the S1 app. I have reset the app and wi fi router without success. Should i delete the S1 app, reset the roam and attempt to connect to the S2 app and If successful then reinstall the S1 system? Thanks.
Tv autoplay not switched on in Sonos 2 app but matters not on or off anyway. The tv will not budge of receiver in sound settings. Cannot get tv speakers or Bose bluetooth headphones as clicking on them in sound settings gives a few seconds play then jumps back to Receiver sound. Never saw these problems in reviews prior to purchasing beam gen 2. Sonos should give automatic refunds to unhappy purchasers. Also noticed tv off during the night. Sonos left on. Switching tv on in morning Sonos connects but sound defaults to 0. Had HDMI-cec sound problem as well. App said switch on cec on tv settings. It was already on. I've only had the soundbar for a few days. Sonos sent me a welcome e-mail with tips etc. Unfortunately one was tapping with phone to set up well my Samsung A40 isn't new enough to do that. What about Trueplay sorry that's a no no no my phone is Android. These details are not easy to find when making purchase. The sales staff do not even know. Nevermind a refund should be comp
Hi all, new Sonos setup starting in my LR with Arc, Sub and 2 Ones for surround. The location of the TV and the Arc (and maybe the Sub) are capable of using a wired Ethernet connection. I have a 3-node Linksys Velop Tri-Band mesh system shown by the crude blue symbols. Wondering if I should start by trying the Wifi and see how it goes. I have good Internet (stream video to multiple sets with no issues) and never have issues with Wifi connections. Fallback would be to wire the Arc and use SonosNet. Thoughts?I forgot to add that the Internet (cable) comes into Bedroom 3, that’s the location of the router main node as well. To get to the TV/Arc connection, I’d need to connect Bedroom 3 to the wiring panel/switch in the garage (house has Cat 5 wiring) and then back to the TV alcove. The reason for the location of the node in the MBR is to get wifi to my telescope computer when in the backyard.OB
We love our Sony XBR55A8G. I had a Sonos Playbar and after reading so many reviews on the Sonos ARC, I bought one. I was disappointed when I found that I did not have the ability to make use of Dolby Atmos. Then I just came across two youtube reviews on the HD Fury. I purchased one and then ordered new cables from the suggested vendor. They are 2.1 compliant. When I put everything together, I confirmed that I had the latest firmware. I get video, but get no audio. Further, there is no reading on the screen of the HD Fury. Even after unplugging and replugging in everything as suggested in other queries, It does not give an indication that I am feeding a signal in.Any suggestions? Should I just send it back and ask for a refund? MEP - RFGroup
On my PC i have a folder for all my music. iTunes uses that basic directory, some tracks are in their own sub directory, and some are listed as normal files with the main Music directory.Whatever the previous version of the Sonos S1 software (SW), I updated to the latest v 11.2.12.Playing music using my iphone Sonos app and PC S1 app works fine. However, upon downloaded the latest the PC S1 SW, the cover art is messed up.Almost all the tracks, which had their own cover art, have been replaced by a SINGLE cover art image.I have no idea why.The songs and cover art all in the same Music folder (I don’t manage the cover art, whatever comes with iTunes is what I have). Nothing has changed for years actually. The music folder and my PC w/the S1 SW are on the same computer. So I have no idea what the hell happened. Any suggestions- it’s annoying as hell.
