I have a whole house music systems with 4 different groups (living/kitchen, entryway, master and backyard), currently controlled on Crestron. In the living room I have 6 speakers in the ceiling and two in the kitchen in the same group. The control hub/amps? are in in a closet near the entrance of the house. The living room is near the back of the house about 25ft away. Is it possible to make those ceiling speakers in the living room as surrounds along with an arc soundbar and subwoofer for a tv in the living room? I assume I’d need some sonos amps, but as far as wiring currently is it even possible without having to run new wires. Thanks in advance.
Hi there. Just wondering if there is anyway disconnect from Tune-In Radio and just add internet streams with out it? I've got all kind of urls I use with JRiver and on my phone. Stream quality is higher, delay is shorter and no ads. Thanks
Hi All I have a Sonos Beam (Gen1) and a Sony TV. (But I don't run the full Sub and Surround sound configuration). I'm happy enough with this and Movies play back through it really well. However most standard TV is transmitted as basic Stereo or Dolby 5.1 which is obviously has a much lower effect for general playback. Recently the Sony TV developed a fault and as it is still in warranty Sony will be replacing with an upgrade. They will be replacing with the below upgrade.https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs-android-/xr-50x90j/specificationsOne of the features is Sound upscaling which is all good stuff and will try and increase the sound quality from Stereo to 5.1 and so on and so on.Im a little concerned however this benefit wont be passed to the soundbar and lost along the way does anyone have any experience with sound upscaling and the resulting output.Again not looking for excellence just any improvement.. :)KrPaul
I have a TCL Android TV with the Apple TV app installed, and a Sonos Arc connected to the HDMI-ARC on the TV (not an e-arc connector)some movies play fine, but others have no sound. If I start the movie playing, then unplug the Sonos from the mains power, sound starts playing from the TV speakers. I then plug the Sonos back in to power, it boots up, sound pauses, then sound starts playing via the Sonos - perfect lip-sync, Sonos app reports Dolby digital 5.1, or Dolby atmos (DD+), whatever the movie is, no further issues. I can pause the movie, rewind it, still the sound works fine.Movies in plain stereo always work fine without needing to unplug, but so do some movies with atmos or 5.1., it seems to be totally random which work and which don’t.if I unplug and re plug the Sonos before I open the Apple TV app, or when it is at the Home Screen, this doesn’t work - the movie has to be actually playing for the reboot trick to work. Change the movie, and again no sound, I have to go through
Hi! I am thinking about getting my first turntable. I want one of ProJects turntable cause of the built in preamp. But what type and model? And also: what shoul i buy of the port and amp? Whats the big difference? Somewhere down the road i might want to buy new speakers, and a different brand than Sonos.
I recently bought a set of Sonos SL speakers to use as a set of Surrounds to use with my Sonos Beam (connected ARC to a LG C1 TV). Using my iPhone or iPad, I use to be able to airdrop to the Beam speaker from the Apple Music App. After adding these as Surround speakers to the Beam it is now asking for an Airplay Password for the Beam. I tried the Sonos password and it does not work. What password is it asking for or how do I correct this?
I have arc, sub and surrounds. One of the surrounds recently disconnected from the network so I’m trying to reconnect it. I’ve followed the steps on doing a factory reset but that’s not working. The error occurs when adding the speakers as surrounds to my existing setup. Arc and Sub are on the same WiFi network that I’m trying to add the Surrounds to.Tried 5 times and now I’m bored of going through the same process over and over again without it working.Edit: I’ve just been through the network management process and ensured that all speakers are on the same network. However despite this they appear in different groups within the app:
I’ve recently seen ads and promos being served via the iOS Sonos app. I find it annoying and I don’t appreciate it, but does anyone else know about it?
Hi,I'm planning a 5.1 system in a new build. For the front sound, I could use an Arc or two inwall speakers (+amp) on the left and right of the tv Any thoughts about which option is best? Thanks Richard
First, I’m having the same issue as several others including ‘uclamba2001’, which is super frustrating. You can’t reply to those posts, so I have to create a brand new one.My Beam stopped playing TV sound after working fine for well over a year. I tried all the possible steps including restarts, resets, (3) different HDMI cables (yes, incl. brand new), etc.The HDMI Arc shows the Sonos imagery on screen (so yes, the connection is there), but doesn’t play sound through the TV. I can play music through the app (so yes, the speaker works), but not via TV so my entire home theater system is essentially defunct based on the Beam’s failure. I didn’t plan on trashing a $1,400 investment, but it seems like I’m out of options.Good luck to the rest of you.
So I have a new Arc connected to Sony A80J. Just curious what you guys have to turn your volume up to in normal viewing (TV/Apple TV/ streaming apps, etc)I have to turn the volume up to at least 40-50 when I am watching regular directv programming, and when watching anything on Apple TV or the internal streaming apps (Netflix/Amazon, etc) I have to turn it up to at least 50. Same for movies and shows on Itunes.I wouldn’t say it is a real problem, everything still sounds good, but I was just surprised at having to turn it up so high and wanted to see if that was normal..
Hello,I’m using a tp-link P7 mesh wifi network (tp-link setup in access mode).I’m NOT using sonosnet. All my Sonos speakers (S2) work fine around the house but ios controller app (both on my iphone or ipad) has a strange behavior when I’m moving from room to room:app work ok then I go into another room everything looks fine on the app but no display update to show speakers state, queue position, etc when I’m trying to do anything with the speakers from the controller (play/pause, changing source...), the app say it cannot connect to the speakers….The app works fine after a restart but if I move in another part of the house, it will not be able to connect to the speakers anymore until restart of the app.Any idea ?Thanks, Denis
Hopefully and easy one, do the Play One, and One fit all the same speaker stands as each other. The Flexson I’m looking at (FLXS1FS1021U) only makes mention of the Sonos one
Hi,Looking to use the 12v trigger on my new Sonos Port to turn on my receiver when I start playing music through the port. I do not have an input on my Pioneer Receiver to connect to the port. Is there an adaptor or additional component like this in North America that will work? https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/diy-kits-and-boards/audiophonics-trigger-12v-230v-slave-power-supply-device-p-10661.html
I'm about to go ahead with upgrading my Play:1 in favour of the One SL. They look pretty much the same, so does anyone know if the speaker stands that I have for my Play:1 will fit just the same for the One SL?I've tried searching, but only seem to come up with the most inappropriate of answers! Thanks in advance.
I have a new Arc connected to the eArc HDMI port on my Sony A80J. I have an Apple TV 4K. On my TV- when I have the passthrough setting turned on, and I watch an ATMOS program on my Apple TV, the sonos app shows “DOLBY ATMOS”. If I turn the passthrough off, the Sonos app reports atmos programming as “DOLBY ATMOS (DD+)” Am I actually getting different sound here? If there is I can’t really tell. Is there really a difference when the sonos reports DOLBY ATMOS vs DOLBY ATMOS (DD+)?
What do I really have here. Have the Play Bar and Two of the SL Ones. Was looking for a home theater type system to replace an older Bose 5.1 system.thanks
Hi All, I am new to Sonos having stripped an old wired multiroom system out of the house. I just purchased a bundle 1 x ARC, 2 x Sonos 5, 1 x Sub with the intention of using the Arc and Sub for the TV room (possibly adding 2 X Sonos 1 for 5.1) and using the 2 X 5’s is a large living room solely for music.I haven’t set anything up yet as the hose is being decorated but I am wondering after some further reading if the better option for the music in the living room would be 2 X 1’s + Sub rather than 2 X 5. Both the 5’s or 1’s would be on speaker stands about 10 ft apart. From an aesthetic view I think the 2 X 1’s would be better but I am a low level audiophile and soundstage/quality will be the more significant factor.I have spoken to the supplier and as all boxed I can switch out the 2 5’s for 2 1’s + Sub for a very small additional cost. All thoughts and opinions welcome, thanks!
I am able to sync the Fios remote to control the volume though the Sonos Beam when I am watching Fios cable TV. When I switch over to an app (Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max) the Fios remote doesn’t work to control the volume. The Sony/TV a remote doesn’t work for the volume either. How do I get one remote to control everything?
I have the following equipment, on three different floors of my house:Room A: 2 Fives (stereo pair)Room B: 1 OneRoom C: 1 Play:5 (gen 1)Rooms A and B are controlled by S2 (iPhone)Room C is controlled by S1 (iPhone)Everything has been working perfectly, exactly as expected, for quite some time. Last evening, though, though, I experienced a particularly annoying issue --Room A was active -- streaming from TuneIn Radio. Rooms B and C were inactive. The S2 controller suddenly popped up a message that an additional Sonos system had been found and was incompatible with S2, and it asked how I wanted to proceed. That is, the old Play:5 had been discovered by S2. I had the choice of adding the Play:5 (which of course would not be allowed) or taking additional action. ‘Taking additional action’, as far as I could tell, involved resetting the S2 system, which of course I also didn’t want to do.I was stuck in an infinite loop. Closing/reopening S2 by itself did not make the message go away. I final
I have a BenQ TH671ST 1080p projector installed into my ceiling. I currently have an audio cord running from the projector to a less than optimal sound bar that isn't stereo. I have a Sonos AMP powering two outdoor speakers. I also want to power all my streaming through my Chromecast or Fire Stick. With this setup, is there a way to get great STEREO audio, with no lag, to either two Sonos speakers and/or a Sonos Sound Bar? What do I need to accomplish this and to set this up?
I have a Sonos Amp connected to 4 Sonos in wall architecture speakers in our living area. They sound amazing when playing music in the entire house. The problem is, the 4 speakers are pretty high up the wall, because we have an open floor plan. When watching TV the sound isn't great. Anyone have a recommendation on what we could do for better sound lower in the room when watching TV?I don't think we could add an Arc or Beam to the Amp and other 4 speakers. Any other options?
Hi allI’ve recently set up a new amp with existing in ceiling speakers and it works great. I’ve also connected the amp to a 2018 LG OLED via hdmi arc which pushes the sound out through the in ceiling speakers - also great. The issue I have it switching off the amp to return to playing the tv via a sky soundbox (also conducted to the tv via hdmi). This seems impossible to do, other than by physically unplugging the amp from the arc hdmi port on the tv. I only occasionally play the tv through the in ceiling speakers but it would be nice to find a slicker solution than the above workaround.I have seen similar posts without a solution from a couple of years ago so I thought perhaps someone might now have found a fix.cheers.
Just over 2 weeks ago, my Sonos controllers have all stopped working correctly. They all say “No music selected” and the play/pause buttons are greyed out. The queue sometimes is empty, sometimes shows an old playlist. I actually found today that one of the controllers was telling me that it was playing something I was listening to a few days ago via Spotify Connect (but not any more). This is a problem on Android, iPhone and Mac.Also, the volume controls are weird - on the Mac, some of them are unusable, on the Android they are all positioned at 0. (But on Android they still work when I change the volume.))I can play new music fine, but just not pause it once it starts! Voice control from both Alexa and Google works normally and is the only way I can really control the playback. Occasionally, after replacing the queue I can select something from the queue to skip to, but not always. Some other things work OK, like displaying and changing room groups. I can also use Spotify Connec
As per title. When playing music with my beam and 2 simfonisk speakers in surround mode the right rear surround intermittently breaks up/cuts out. it works fine as an individual speaker in the same position. I have submitted diagnostics in case helps anyone from Sonos identify the issue. Thanks for any advice/thoughts.
