When I initially set up my Sonos ONE Gen 2 speaker it worked absolutely fine. I then got a separate Sonos ONE but without the mic function in order to set up stereo sound.I'm not sure if it was since then or after but whenever I ask Google to play music from Spotify on my Sonos I have to initially ask it twice - Google will respond saying "ok, playing .... On Spotify" but then this is followed by silence until o repeat the command.Similarly, when I try to cast from Spotify, I will often choose a song which will start playing, then cast it to my speaker but then have to pause and play the song again before it starts playing.I don't know where the problem is, but I have noticed others have mentioned similar issues on these forums a year ago. I was hoping it would be a temporary bug but it has now been like this for almost a year.Any ideas? My Google mini works flawlessly (and has full Google assistant functionality) but I do think the Sonos speakers are better quality so would like to ge

Hello,We are deploying Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to our users.Mobile devices are fully company managed devices, but we do allow users to install their own apps, as long as its installed from official app stores. We received some complains that users are not able to use their Sonos App after configuring defender for endpoint. Defender for Endpoint is a enterprise endpoint security product and it uses a “local” VPN solution to filter malicious or other unwanted traffic from device. The thing is, because it uses the VPN (event though its a local vpn and not a real vpn) the Sonos application does not allow you to scan for local sonos devices. Is there any documentation or other information available that we can verify  if this is a an issue that could be solved by Sonos or is it something that should be fixed by Microsoft?  

Hello, I am creating a media wall with recessed TV, Playbar and a fire at the bottom. My question is will the Playbar sound be affected by being placed in a recessed shelf?  Has anyone done this?  Thanks    

Just upgraded my gen 1 Sonos 5 to an Arc. Have a Sonos amp in the same room but behind the sofa driving speakers facing the TV. The amp and TV are on the same LAN network but are too far apart to connect by HDMI cable, Is there a way to connect the TV or Arc to the amp for surround sound?TIA  

My question is, can I use my gen1 speakers (play3) & gen1 sub with the Arc to play Dolby Atmos?  I just purchased a new TV and I’m going through a tech overhaul. I’m cautious to start upgrading all of my Sonos equipment because it works great and would be expensive to replace. However I am definitely interested to taking it to the next level by replacing the Playbar with the Arc. Hi, I’m probably going to get murdered on the forum for this...(I did try to search, I really did), but I couldn’t find anything.So I have two Sonos Roams paired as a stereo set. I was wondering with the high end services like Tidal, Amazon Music HD and Apple Music (and I guess Sonos Radio HD), can the Roams push out the high end bit rates/sound quality? I may not be asking the question right..I hope it makes sense. Like I realize the Roams do not do Atmos (right)..so Spatial audio is out...but can they play lossless at that bit rate or is it downsized/compressed?I am a Sonos fan, and I replaced two Echo Studios to go with the Roams because I like the portability and the size of them. I realize I would be giving up Atmos or whatever Amazon calls it..but I was just curious.I recall seeing something way back that the Ones could not do more than “HD” level on Amazon and not the Ultra HD or 3D or whatever they called it..but I didn’t know if the Roams can do HD level ...or if any music ser

Afternoon all.  I recently purchased a Sonos Beam Gen 2 and I also have a One SL.  I have a Sony KD-49XG90 TV.I’m bamboozled by the variety of Audio in results I have showing on my S2 App.My Beam is connected to my TV via ARC (HDMI 3), my Apple TV (4K 2021) is connected to HDMI 2 and Sky Q is connected to HDMI4.I get Dolby Atmos for Premiership football matches I watch in UHD via SkyI get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for movies in UHD via SkyI get Dolby Digital 5.1 via Apple TVI get a mixture of Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM 2.0 for normal channels on SkyCan anyone explain the disparity between the results I’m getting please, is layman terms if possible.I would at least like to get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 on Apple TV and I don’t understand for the life of me why I only get Atmos for the football on Sky UHD but for no other programme, not even UHD movies on Sky!Many thanks in advance

I just bought the Sonos Arc SL Bar, connecting to my TV LG-70UK6570AUB via HDMI ARC. When my cable box and sonos are connected via HDMI, no sound through Sonos ARC. I can only get sound when I disconnect everything else or if I connect to Optic connection (Optic connection works on TV and Streaming but I loose “Dolby” sound). This happens every time the TV is turned off and on but if the system detects the cable box... no sound. My Cable box doesn't look modern and neither can't set up or modify the type of audio for the cable box. PLEASE HELP!!!!

So I set up Google Assistant on the Sonos Beam (check images) but it doesn’t matter what command I give to it, it says that it cannot find my devices.For example, if I ask, turn the Living Room Light On, it says it can’t find it.Even with Apple Music, if I ask to play something on apple music, it says that it can’t do that. It’s as if it’s a separate device not connected to my home but it can respond to general web requests (what’s the weather, what’s my name, etc).Is this expected behavior or is it supposed to behave as any other Google Assistant device in my home? I can’t use this assistant in its current state.

I can't pinpoint exactly when it started, but our Sonos Play 5 (Gen 2) is no longer visible and can't be added to our Sonos network. When we try to Add Product, it is undiscoverable by Wifi only.When we connect via Ethernet, it can be found and we can walk through the 'Adding process' until we finally receive the message 'Your Play:5 has been added, but may not appear in the System tab. If so, unplug the power cord and plug it back in to finish the setup from the System tab'. Immediately after that, the system automatically tries to take us through the 'Add Product' process again, but this time we eventually get the message 'Your mobile device couldn't connect to your Play:5. Make sure the Play:5 is connected to power.' If we unplug and walkthrough the process again, we eventually receive this message: 'Your Play:5 couldn't be set up. My music was all on an external NAS drive which failed.  Data recovery company restored the NAS content and I re-downloaded to new NAS and redirected my Sonos from MacBookPro and controller on iPad and iPhone.  However now, if my Mac is ‘asleep’ neither controller will work.  I get error message 1002 which seems irrelevant as I don’t have the device the error message refers to. Another error message is “Unable to play ‘track x’ - unable to connect to //Lois-[sirname]-MacBook-Pro/Music.  I deleted the Controller app and reinstalled it.  It played one album and when attempting to play a second album - the following long error message popped up:  Unable to play ‘Album X’ - the file //Lois-[sirname}MacBook-Pro/Music/Music/Media.localised/Music/Jamiroquai/Jamiroquai - Travelling Without Moving/13 [Hidden Track].m4a cannot be foundWords fail me.  Help!

Hi! I bought a new Samsung smart TV and now I can’t use the same 3,5 mm cable anymore. The tv only has a optical output. I tried to use a cable who has an optical and a 3,5 mm combination, I think it’s called toslink.  ( see the link below) That didn’t work unfortunately. I have seen that it’s also existing a kind of optical converter in too 3,5 mm, would that be any better? What worked perfectly before, does not work now! From the many many posts on this subject, we all know the symptoms: Whilst trying to add a  music folder, you are greeted by the message:  But it worked last week! I have checked all the advice from the various posts about SMB1 and firewalls etc. Nothing works. The computer I am trying to connect to is a bog standard Seagate HDD attached to a Telstra (Australia) “Technicolor DJA0231” Broadband Modem/Router connected to our NBN (National Broadband Network): a so-called “Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2”. Hii currently have two Sonos Sl ones as a stereo pair at the end of a long room. I wanted to add a voice control speaker at the other end. Initially I just wanted it completely separate to the two other speakers (ie just as a stand alone speaker for radio while in the kitchen). however now I’m wondering if I could link all three together to play the same thing. would a Sonos Sl one smart speaker do this for me? Ie would I be able to ask that speaker to play a radio station and hear it across all three speakers in the same room. (I don’t mind unpairing the stereo element of the other two if that’s what needs to happen?) anyadvice welcome on how best to do this. thanks 

After the debacle with MacOS Catalina and playlists, I have gotten the update of playlists to work ok - when I add songs and update the Sonos library, the new songs do appear in the playlists (if I remember to do the updates from the Mac, that is - not if I do it from, say, the iPad controller).So far, so good.But there seems to be two things that the Sonos system does not respect:Sort order of playlists My playlists are invariably set to sort by song title and appear so in the Music app library on the Mac. Yet, in the importde playlists on Sonos, the new songs are simply concatenated to the bottom of the playlists, out of any order (except latest in).   Choices made for songs via Music / View Info I have a few songs that I have changed volume for in the Music app or, more importantly, changed start and end times for. Hi, I’ve had a search on the forums but couldn’t find this scenario discussed.I have a sonos beam in the living room, a One (gen 1) in another room and am thinking of getting another One (gen 2) in a third room. Is there a way to have these primarily in multi-room setting and then occasionally bring them into the living room to join up with the Beam on the TV for a surround sound setup for movie nights? I know this setup is possible in some way (with instructions on the page ‘Add surround speakers to a Sonos home theater’) but what I wanted to know is if this is a quick switch that can be done with a couple of clicks on the app each time? Or would it require re-pairing the speakers using the connection button and then re-creating the other rooms each time I move the speakers back (so basically would it take more like 30 seconds or 10 minutes to switch between these two setups?).Also, are there any issues with combining a One gen 1 and a One gen 2 in this way?Thanks!
