Unfortunately, based on my research, your TV doesn’t support DTS pass through. So you will only get Stereo PCM audio from DTS-encoded Blu-ray discs.
If your TV was equipped with HDMI eARC, you could set the UB820 to convert DTS to PCM so you could get lossless Multichannel PCM audio from your DTS discs, but your TV is only equipped with HDMI ARC.
Your options are to get a new TV with eARC, get the HDFury Arcana, or find another Blu-ray player that can convert DTS to Dolby Digital. I would go with the Arcana option. I use the Arcana with my old Panasonic plasma and UB820 and it works great.
Hello GS, Your prompt response was most appreciated and I'm in better place now after banging my head against a brick wall contacting Sonos direct and specialist retailers ALL telling me something different!
The Arcana Fury is my only option I guess but not happy of the additional expense after purchasing the Beam 2 & Panny UB820 recently.
Honestly thought the DTS firmware update recently for the Beam 2 would allow me some audio upgrade to the PCM and now realise my ARC only on my TV prevents that.
I have a few questions.…
What sound quality will I get in comparison to the Atmos on some 4K titles which is immense for my small room?
Im resigned to the fact that I won't get DTS Master Audio or DTS/X with my set up, but will I be happy with what the Fury can resolve?
Dont wana purchase and then find its converted the Audio on my non Atmos titles to something that's doesn't come close to impressing!
Many Thanks once again GS!

With the Arcana, you will set the DTS audio setting on the UB820 to PCM and this will result in “Multichannel PCM” audio playing out of the Beam from all of your DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS:X encoded discs. In my opinion, multichannel PCM sounds very similar to DTS-HD Master Audio, and it definitely sounds MUCH better than stereo PCM.
How will multichannel PCM sound on the Beam compared to Dolby Atmos? I would guess it would sound very similar but not quite as good as Dolby Atmos audio.
Ermmm GS ..... you got me thinking now lol?
Im gonna re listen to some of my non Atmos titles again. I do get DD+ through the Beam watching normal TV e.g. BBC1 or BBC Iplayer via my Fire Stick which is ok and better when a film is on and will compare the 2.
Alot of positive reviews on the Arcana on this site and others. There are other cheaper alternatives.... I guess you would not recommend them?
Do better cables improve the sound even more? I cannot complain about the standard HDMI cable supplied with the Beam2.
Much Appreciated!
