My setup in the kitchen is I have a pair of Sonos One's in stereo sitting ontop of a welsh dresser at the back of the kitchen. Overall using Alexa works great on these as I can see from their lights that both initially fire up, but then one Sonos One takes over and processes the command. I've had no issues with doing most commands but my problems is this; [list] [*]Asking Alexa to set a timer [/list] I ask Alexa to set a timer for 5 minutes. I then ask Alexa how long left on the timer, and it depends totally as to where I'm standing as to which speaker picks up, but sometimes I get the response "No timers set" (from the One that didn't process the command) and sometimes 4.30 remaining (which is correct response). Its a bit of a pain but involves me trying one speaker and then the other till i get the response. The easiest fix would be to turn the microphone off on one speaker, so that all my timers are processed through one speaker only, but I can't seem to find that setting.

Hi We moved into a new house and the guys that set our tv onto the wall connected our play 5 to our tv which sounded great! Today I connect all our play 1 & 5 on the sonos controller so we can listen to our own music / radio but now the tv has lost the sound through the sonos 5? I'm not very good with this kind of things, is there anyone out there that can help me in very simple terms how to get the sonos r 5 to play the sound from the telly again? Help please!!!

For example, could I have the Sonos One in the Living Room and say "Alexa play Jazz" in the Kitchen via a Sonos Play:1? If I have music playing everywhere, can I selectively turn off groups via voice control?

I group my speakers in several different ways depending on what we're doing. rather than manually having to group them each time, can I name my groups. Advantage would also be, I assume, that I can get Alex to play to that group of speakers. I understand I can group devices in Alex but see that it has problems doing it that way. Appreciate anyone's experience with doing this.

HI Can you use a Sonos Playbar with just one Play1 as surround instead of two?  I only have one Play 1 st present and what to use it as a left surround for the playbar but i cant seem to get it to work.  I can add it but it does not output anything so i was thinking that it only becase active once you add the second? Can someone confirm if you can have a Sonos Playbar with just one Play1 as a surround (Left). Thanks Mark

We have a Play:1 at work and the other day the bass on the speaker blew. Seems odd that the volume control on such a compact system could blow the speaker. Is there any way to get it fixed or get credit towards a new one?

Hello, My setup is a sonos playbar and 2 play ones. Want to purchase a LGOLED55B7V but want to know 2 things first. 1)Can tv send 5.1 dolby digital via optical out from a hdmi source? 2)Is the lip sync spot on from tv to soundbar?

Keep getting the message that an update for my desktop controller (iMac) is available but I get an error message when I attempt to download it. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi everyone, thanks for any help or input in advance. I just bought a Playbar, Sub, and 2 Playones for surround sound/music in my basement. I watch a lot of basketball but have been very disappointed with the surround during the broadcast. I feel like I should be getting crowd noise and what not in my rear surrounds but I get pretty much nothing, except sound effects when they do graphics or a random really loud clap from a fan. I watch the Vikings/Eagles game on Sunday and it seemed to work great, but I wasn't paying as close of attention to it at the time. Everything seems to kick on and work great during commercials but then drops off again. My Sono's set up sounds amazing when playing music or watching Movies. I called support and the latest answer I got was that it's just the way basketball games are mic'd and they get lots of complaints about. Is this true or are they giving me the run around. Thanks!

Anyone know if f the desktop controller will see a significant update any time soon? Compared to all the updates to the app, it seems quite neglected.

I get a "Discovery Failed" message when trying to discover devices through my new Sonos One with Alexa. I've followed the following steps: 1. Set up Sonos One and added voice control with Alexa. Alexa responds to commands and knows who I am 2. Set up the Alexa app, connected it to my account 3. Enabled the smart skill for Sonos I tried both asking Alexas to discover devices ("Alexa, discover devices") and trying to locate devices through the Alexa app but I get a very quick "Discovery Failed" response (see image) [img]677546bf-3c59-42a3-99cb-026972d8ab53.jpg[/img] For what it's worth, I've also tried to connect my Nest thermostat by enabling that skill and connecting my account, but that device also cannot be discovered. Also, I've tried to uninstall my apps and go through this entire process again. That also does not work. Please help.

I want to start adding Sonos speakers to my home theater set-up and would like your advice. I have a Denon AVR-1912 receiver and a Sony Bravia LCD TV. I would like to replace my center speaker and two front speakers while continuing to use my "wired" rear speakers and subwoofer. I am hoping that I can accomplish this by purchasing a pair of PLAY:1 speakers, a Connect and a Playbar. Will this work? Will there be a lag? Do I need additional components? After downloading the latest update today, the volume buttons on my iPhone S no longer control sonos volume. I have checked the settings, and “hardware volume control” is selected. Does anybody have any tips on how to restore the function? Thank you

I have variously 4 Sonos speakers (1s & 5s) and since upgrading my router to a Netgear Nighthawk I cannot get my iPhone SE to connect. My iPad, MacBook, iPod and PC connect seamlessly. I have gone through all the normal troubleshooting procedures and updated the Sonos software only today so all is up to date but to no avail. Deleted the app from my iPhone and reinstalled - zilch. Not a massive problem but a niggling issue which needs resolving. Couldn’t see any solutions in the forum that match this. Any ideas ?

I received my first Sonos product over the holidays, and am LOVING it. As I was connecting all of my digital streaming services, I was surprised not to be able to find anything to connect my Audible account, and couldn't find a generic input where I could bootstrap it in. Am I missing something? Have others successfully found a way to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

Hi guys, I was wondering whether you could let’s me know if it would be possible to connect my playbase to a Vinyl player. I’m looking to buy a vinyl player, but I know that the playbase only connects via WiFi not Bluetooth. Any advice would be appreciated. Best, Edouard

Using Sonos play bar with two Play 1s. Instead of investing in a Sonos sub, I was wondering if the bass on a new Play 5 would do the trick.

Updated from 8.2.2 on my PC just fine. However when I try to update to 8.3 on any of the three Apple devices I have once I hit the update link am asked if I want to open in Apple Store. 8.3 listed and Open button next to it. Doesn't update. Still have 8.2.2 I had to delete Sonos from my Apple devices, go to Apple store and download 8.3 and install.

This is the second Sonos One speaker that i've had this issue with, i've hade the Sonos One for about 3 weeks and out of nowhere it stopped responding to Alexa commands. I've tried to restart and unplug it to no effect. There are no lights on the top of the speaker.

While some of the changes made to the app during these updates may be welcome, the one I’ve waited ages for is to be able to play Audible through my Sonos speaker. When will you be able to get around to making the ability to use Audible through the speaker without the need for leads (which sort of defeats the object really.!!)?? This is long over due now ?

We have our speakers in two bedrooms and the little power light seems to put out a huge amount of light when the room is dark. So much that with both speakers now have a piece of paper balanced on top of both! Anyway to turn that light down?

I have used moved into a new house, and the developers have had ceiling speakers installed in every room but haven't connected them to anything. We just have the wires in our under stairs cupboard. I am unsure on what kit I need to buy in order to make them work- people keep telling me a 'sonos system' but I imagine there are other connecting things I need to buy too?

I own the Sonos play:1 and just ordered Google Home mini without good thinking. I did some research and found out that the Google Assistant will be supported on Sonos One in 2018. (Does this mean that I don't need an external Google Home device? Or that I just can control the Sonos One with my Google Home device?) But will I be able to use the Google Home mini to voice control my Sonos Play:1? If not, should I : -replace the Google Home mini with the Amazon Echo dot? Or -Invest in the Sonos one and use no external voice control devices? Other suggestions and tips are always welcome. Thanks for answering.

we have our Play5 hooked up to the TV via the Line-in connection. my daughter is playing an Xbox, but we have our Sonos speakers (the Play5 & 2 paired play3's) playing Music (radio) via a computer, so she has no sound. about every 10 minutes the Sonos system defaults to the Line-in connection?, stopping the music and playing the sound from the TV/Xbox. I did have it so the Play5 was sound from the TV & the paired play3's were playing the music, but again, the Line-in connection defaulted every 10 minutes. stopping the music, and the play3's reverted to TV/Xbox - even without them being grouped to the Play5
