How do I connect a Sonos Connect to a receiver so that I can listen to CDs on my Play 1 speakers? I’ve connected the audio out on the Connect to the CD audio in on the receiver - nothing plays. I’ve hooked it up to the Tape audio in on the receiver, tuned the receiver to Tape, again nothing happens. As best I can tell, the Connect was successfully hooked up through the Sonos app at the beginning of this process which, I assume, means Connect and Play 1 speakers will work together once I get receiver hooked up appropriately. Help! Thanks.

As above: I am planning to use a Sonos One as a google assistant. If I buy a sonos one now, will it work with Google when the Assistant support is rolled out? Or is it better to wait and buy a unit when support is already in place?

We are building a brand new home from scratch. One room will be a TV and music room and I want decent sound. I have a connect:amp and a pair of Monitor Audio BX5 floor standing speakers. These currently act as my speakers for TV and music. I am now trying to design the room but am non-technical and am confused by the options. My local reseller says "sell the speakers" and buy new stuff but it seems a waste. I have the opportunity to wire the room however I decide but am really not sure what is best. I like good sound but I'm not obsessive. I want surround sound and would like to use what I have in some way. Help!

Hi. Im looking in to getting an amp for my bookshelf stereo speakers (B&W CM5) and the Connect:AMP looks really interesting to me. Does anyone know if there would be a delay playing the sound from the line in directly to the speakers? I know that if I want to have the sound distributed to other sonos speakers via network there will be a delay but can I choose to only play the sound on the connected speaker directly? If this works, I could use my CM5 speakers as computer speakers for gaming and so on with no delay, and if I want, also use them in my multi room setup together with my Sonos play 1 (with the usual delay). Correct? Appreciate any answers, I would really want this to work :)

I recently shuffled a Spotify Playlist via Alexa, with the command 'shuffle release radar playlist on office'. This worked OK, but now whenever I attempt to play back any Spotify Album via Alexa, it is always shuffled too. The shuffle setting is turned off in my app.

I've had Sonos for years, so I'm pretty familiar with things. Alas, I'm stuck. I have a room "TV Room" with a Playbar and a Sub bonded and working fine. I have two Play: 1s I wish to add as a surround pair. The instructions of how to add surrounds to a Playbar are straightforward (on a Mac): Select Sonos > Preferences > Room Settings. Select "Room Settings" From the tab labelled "Basic", select "Add Surround Speakers". For me, there is no option to "add surround speakers" anywhere. (See screenshot) (I've also tried this via the iOS app. Clearly I'm missing something. Suggestions?

Does it matter what speaker I group on? I've got 5 zones and a connect, which is plugged into the router. Very often, I want to play the same thing on all speakers, so when I group I use the same speaker as the one I group on. But I also know that the interference around some of my speakers is greater than others. I've reduced my dropouts significantly but would like to eliminate them completely. So should I be more discerning about the lead speaker?

Apologies if this issue has already been addressed in another post - but hoping someone can offer some guidance... I've set up my Sonos One, downloaded the apps (Sonos and Alexa) and everything appears to be working as it should, except Alexa can no longer play radio stations (either through TuneIn or the BBC skill) and can no longer play music through Amazon Music. I either get an error of Kitchen is offline at the moment, something went wrong or in the case of the BBC skill get the opening music and introduction and after making a request (e.g. play radio 4) get silence and the jingle again. The Sonos One is online (I can ask Alexa general questions and she will respond) however these key functions refuse to work. :@

Hello! Is there any compatibility coming soon for Alexa to read my Kindle ebooks or Audiobooks on Sonos ONE? Would really like for this to happen soon. I may have to buy a dot to achieve this but I know that route won’t actually play the sound through the Sonos ONE, but only through Dot. :(

I was wondering if there was a way to connect the dot and make all sound from the dot speaker come out of the sonos speakers. Currently I have a playbar and 2 Sonos Ones as surround speakers. I use it for music more than I do tv but I use it for both. I love Alexa. I’m planning on buying 2 play 3 speakers to replace the rear speakers and using a dot for the Alexa so I can move the Sonos One speakers into my open kitchen/living room area. Any help would be thankful.

I’ve had the Play 5 for 13 months and it stopped working yesterday. I read through the forums and nothing seems to work. I factory reset it and tried to hook it up again. It only works when connected to Ethernet. I have a Play 1 that works fine. As soon as I unplug the cable it stops. I’m a month out of warranty and worried I’m just SOL. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had a Play5 Gen1 and a Connect for years and my Bridge just broke (crushed.) Do I need to buy a Boost or can I just hardwire the Play5 Gen1 to my router and let the Connect work through wifi?

I want to stream my own music from a NAS to my own amplifier and speakers. It's the streaming and music selection part I'm having trouble with. I currently use a Plex server with Plex phone app with a Chromecast Audio doing the streaming. But my wife is struggling with all the extra steps (get out phone, launch app, wait to load library, find and select music, select 'cast', select specific Chromecast device, wait for connection etc). And that's when the Chromecast is even available on the network, which isn't a given. I'm wondering if there's a better way. Some kind of streaming device that plugs into my amplifier and is always connected to the source plus a phone app that caches the library well and is always connected to the streaming device so that we don't have to set up the connections every time we want to listen to music. Is there a Sonos product to help with this? Or can anyone suggest a different product mix?

Can I pair a play 5 and Play 3 to act as my surround sound speakers when in use with my soundbar and sub and will they revert to normal when I stop watching TV

Hi. Is it possible to get a list of things sonos is working on in relation to alexa's dire voice control. We know theyve said google assistant is in the pipeline, audible has been mentioned to. What about services like napster and locally stored music? Are they being worked on or were the numerous requests for these services just placed on the shelf labelled "if we ignore it, they will go away."

I would like to know if it is possible to connect the wireless JBL Subwoofer with the Sonos system using the connect amp ? Many thanks Jeff

hi all. im in the market for a new home theatre system. I have older KEF egg speakers with a KEF sub. The speakers and sub work absolutely fine. i have speaker cable wired into the roof so was planning on keeping the KEF's to add rear surround sound connected to a playbar and use the KEF sub. I understand that the connectamp allows me to connect older speakers, so was going to connect the rear surround speakers to that. My question is, can i also add the KEF sub to the connectamp? the sub is powered. i dont have power in the roof, otherwise i would have used just two play1's but dont want the hassle of adding the power. For the money that i will be spending on the connect amp, it would save me having to my the sonos sub... so.... in the end the set up will be 1. playbar 2. connectamp 3. two kef eggs connected into connectamp for rear surround (not powered) 4. kef sub connect into connectamp (powered)

Starting to get tee hang of this. 4 Sonos devices and 1 echo dot here. Cancelled Deezer and have Amazon unlimited 30 day trial (not the limited echo music service). I can start multiple Amazon streams via the app without issue, and I can start one Amazon stream by voice ok. However if I start a second Amazon stream in another room by voice, Echo says that Amazon music is streaming on another device, would I like to stream on {room name} instead?’. Is this expected behaviour? Thanks Andrew

Sometimes I start listening music from one sonos in one room and then it happens to move to another room and I want to add the sonos in that room to the flow. What I have to do is to use the app but I think it would be nice to just be able to press one of the buttons to add that sonos to the group. For example: press for 2 seconds the button play/mute to do the trick. [b]Is it possible to add that feature?[/b] thanks a lot in advance for the feedback.

I have a HP 1920-24G as core switch and am adding a HP 1810-8G to replace an unmanaged switch in a media room. The 1920 has 4 ZPs directly wired to it. The 1810 is at the end of a drop from the 1920. On the 1810, I have a Connect attached, which also has a line in from the media amplifier. The Connect also provides sonosnet connectivity to a pair of Play 3's and one Play 5 that are too far from the switch/ZP area. To get the setup working, I disabled wifi (sonosnet) on the 4 wired ZPs and enabled STP on the 1920 and on the 1810. I set the priority of the 1920 at 4096 and the priority of the 1810 as 8128. The system is operable (no diabling broadcast storms), but the Connect is showing up as root on the Sonos STP, not the HP 1920. My understanding is that the MAC of the 1920 should be the system root. In the 1920 diagnostic file and on the 1810 configuration page, it appears that the 1920 is root - it's just in the Sonos STP output that the 1920 is not root. In screen

Hi, I have a sonos playbase and i will buy a Tv Sony Bravia KD-65A1. The Sony KD-65A1 has a design very particular so my question is if i can put the Sony tv over the sonos playbase, or i have to put the sonos playbase lay next to the sony tv?
