HI. I've got a number of sonos speakers and connects, and want to repurpose one connect to hook up to older outdoor (unpowered) speakers. I saw an older post/question from a few years back, but want to know if anyone has any recommendations for reasonably priced amps. Also, I prefer to have an optical cable input but I'm open to being convinced that the rca will also be fine for this application.

I am looking for feedback on setting up 2 stereo pair of Polk Audio Atrium 6, to the Sonos Connect Amp. 1. I would like to [b]make sure the amp is ok to drive these 2 specific 8ohm outside speakers[/b], NOT at ear busting levels, as I have neighbors. 2. I'd like to be able to [b]adjust the individual speaker balance by using a speaker switch with individual volume control, with impedance matching, and then use the Sonos app to adjust ALL 4 speakers. [/b] 3. I'd like a [b]recommendation on specific speaker switches with 4 individual volume control, with impedance matching. [/b] 4. Also, some [b]detail on wiring for the best results[/b] with this setup. I'm not familiar with this topic, so I've read a fair amount on this general topic, and don't always find consensus on the best way of achieving what I'm looking to do....so I'm asking here...for either feedback, or point me to the best site for a speaker "layman". or...am I wanting to do the impossible!!! thanks in

Does the microphone in the Play 5 collect voice data? Is it capable of this? If so, can it be disabled?

Hi Community, First time posting and thank you in advance for any help. Just ran 14 gauge direct burial wire to a pair of Bose Free Space speakers and the connect amp. NO SOUND. I could really use help in trying to figure out steps to trouble shoot this without pulling components significantly apart. Also, is there a max run I can do with the 14 gauge wire? Could my connect amp be a dud? Again, thanks for any advice.

Have a 1st generation play 5 we have been using as our "outdoor" speaker. We have built outside bar and want to know if its possible to use the play 5 and connect a 3rd party speaker to the Play 5? If possible, what do i need for equipment? I have tge sonos sourround sound as a boost as well. Thank in advance

Power surge/power outtage here at my house. Sonos white light on box unlit, so not working. Have re-booted everything, disconnected etc and still no luck. I fear box is now useless. Silly me for not having Sonos plugged into surge protector bar. I do wonder why Sonos uses a non-grounded type prong for their box instead of the large/small prong?

Is it possible to play audio from movies and online TV/movie streaming (e.g. from my PC or laptop) through Sonos Play 1 speakers. It seems like Sonos Play 1 are only really good for music files. Any solution to this, ideally a free one?

Hey folks, just wondering if the power cable with the play 1 white is black or white?

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on ceiling mount installations of Play:1 or Play:3 speakers that do not involve the Flexson products? The Flexson ceiling mount would be perfect but they are ludicrously expensive and I have not found many alternative products available. I have a screened in porch that I want to place a speaker on that is entirely sheltered for about 4 months of the year with a vaulted wood ceiling and available power supply but can't find many more cost effective options for ceiling mount.

Is anyone else having an issue with iPhone X dropping Sonos? My phone will randomly not be able to find Sonos, while my older iPad has no issues(?) Thank you!

Can I use a connect amp to use the turntable with Sonos one?

I cannot switch the 2 Sonos connects to Variable volume. They are stuck on Fixed Volume. If I switch it in Room Settings, the setting changes, but when I go back to control the device it is still showing fixed volume without the ability to control the volume!!!! Frustrating. I also have 7 Connect Amps in this system...

I have Google Home and a Sonos Play:1 speaker. Sonos says that in 2018 the Sonos speakers will be compatible with Google Assistant but will that be a software change that will allow me to use my current speaker with Google Assistant or will I have to purchase a new Sonos speaker in order to be able to use the Assistant with Sonos? Does anybody know this yet?

Hi I am really confused as to the capabilities of Alex and controlling different rooms. I have 3 speakers, Sonos One with Alex, Play 1 and Play 5. The speakers are labelled in the Sonos app as Bedroom, Living Room and Nursery. If I say, Alex play Oasis in the Bedroom...should this work? I understand that multi room and grouping is not currently possible though? Thanks in advance

Hello, I have several "Music Groups" that I have used with Amazon's recent feature to play music simultaneously on several Echos. I have recently received my Sonos One and it appears that I cannot add it to any groups. Is it possible to play music simultaneously through my Sonos One in the living room and, say, my Echo in the kitchen?

The ability to set a sleep timer in the Sonos apps at the end of a chapter of an audio book would be much appreciated. Would this be something other members of this forum would find useful?

I have set up Alexa, with Sonos skill enabled in the app along with Spotify being default music service. I then try to ask Alexa to play a certain playlist/song/artist and I get the response of “Go to app and enable Sonos skill” which I have already done. Does anybody know how to solve this issue? One of the main selling points of Sonos One is Alexa Voice control with music services and currently can’t do this. Doesn’t anybody know how to solve this?

Would be it ok to unplug the connect amps periodically when I am traveling to allow time to cool down?

Hello; If I pause my TV for a while my Playbar stops playing the input. Before the last update it would go to 0 volume and then slowy fade up. Now it just doesn’t play at all. I have to go to the Sonos app and play Line In again. Anyone have an idea what may be going on?

I have 2 configurations I’ve been debating on for an outside inground pool sound system. Option 1: (1) Sonos Connect:Amp (4) TIC GS3 - each speaker is 100W and an Impedance of 8 Option 2: (1) Sonos Connect (1) Pioneer VSX-D411 Receiver/Amplifier - has 5 channels at 100W per channel with an impedance of 8 (4) TIC GS3 - each speaker is 100W and an impedance of 8 I’m leaning toward Option 2 due to the matching of the Watts per channel and impedance. The Sonos Connect:Amp says (2x55w) which makes me feel like I’m going to underpower the speaker and potentially stress out the connect:amp. It also seems like I won’t be able to maximize the sound of those speakers (which could lead to less quality). Am I right in thinking this? Or am I way off? I think I’m just looking for a nudge/confirmation that my instincts are correct. Thanks for any help the community can provide.
