I want to create a home theater using an Optoma UHD60 projector and Sonos 5.1 Surround Set with Playbar and Sonos One speakers. I am thinking of connecting a PC or Raspberry Pie to the projector. As I see the playbar has to connect to the projector via optical in. UHD60 has an optical out so I am thinking of connecting the projector to the playbar with a long optical cable. My questions are: 1. Is this connection proper for this setup to work? 2. Does this connection provide 5.1 surround sound? 3. Does the long optical cable have audio quality loss? 4. Is it ok to connect the optical cable to the projector or is it better to find a source with optical out?

Hi, Whenever I use the "shuffle" feature, it always "shuffles" in the same order. Is there any way to have it shuffle the order differently? I thought it would be a random shuffle but on my system it is not random at all - always the same order. (Or maybe I am incredibly lucky and should play the lottery?). Is there a way to either mix up the shuffle order, or to have it actually shuffle in a different random order each time I choose the shuffle option? Thanks! Juggernaut

I need to update my music library and the whole manage menu is greyed out. MacOS 10.10.5 Please let me know how to get that functionality enabled.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if so whether I can do anything to stop it happening? i have 2 Echo Dots in the house, one of which is located in the basement. In the mornings, while I'm listening to the radio (via Tune in) on my sonos equipment in my bedroom, the volume suddenly drops right down for a few seconds and then pops back up. I've realised this is because my children are chatting to Alexa in the basement and the volume drops on any and all zones until the interaction has finished. Note: the basement and bedroom zones are not joined together at the time, they are playing different music sources. In fact, I'm not even sure that anything is being played in the basement at the time.

I tried to search this topic both here and on Google. My apologies if it has been answered but I cannot find an answer. We have several Sonos Play 1 speakers and an Alexa Echo. I enabled the Alexa skill and updated the software on all of the Sonos speakers. I have the app for both. I created a group in the Alexa app called "Family Room". Under the "Alexa" heading, both the sonos speaker that I want to play and the Echo speaker are selected. In the preferred speaker section it will only allow me to have 1 of the 2 from the above section checked. I have tried it both ways. I am trying to get both the sonos speaker and the Echo to play the music together. I am able to say "Alexa, play music on Family Room" and the music will play on the Sonos speaker, but it will not also play on the Echo. Several websites seem to say that indicate that both will play (though I understand you cannot have two Echos play at the same time). Regardless, I cannot seem to play the music through both sim

Trying to use a Beam to control a 70' Vizio TV with the HDMI ARC connection. Using Alexa, I can turn on or off the TV, and control the volume of the TV. However, if I turn OFF the TV using the Remote Control, the Beam can not turn the TV on and in fact, the only way to turn the TV on is to reboot the TV by removing the power cord. I have searched for any Power Control settings on the TV, with no success. I also spent an hour on the phone with Sonos support, with no success. Any suggestions?

I purchased and connected a Beam via HDMI-ARC, however the sound is very limited. I have to turn it up to 35 to hear the TV, while I'm in the room. It is connected to a Samsung UN55F6300AF. When I look at the TV sound settings, I see that the sound is processed through PCM rather than Dolby Digital. Dolby Digital is greyed out. Would connecting via optical cable produce a better sound? For music it sounds really good, like a SONOS should...but for TV it is not cutting it. I want to like this thing, since I love the Ones I own.

I apologize if I'm asking questions that were already answered, as I have searched this forum and found some answers, but not all of them. I currently have in my Family Room, the following setup: Playbar, Sub, and 2 Play 1s (so surround sound). If I was to purchase a turntable and want to hook it up to my Sonos, like this one (https://victrola.com/collections/record-player/products/victrola-6-in-1-nostalgic-bluetooth-record-player-with-3-speed-turntable), I understand I would need to also purchase a preamp and then either a Connect, Connect Amp, or Play 5 (only equipment that has audio in jacks). Here is my first question: If I have zero interest in using the built in speaker with the turntable and only want to use my existing Sonos speakers to play the music, my assumption is go with the Connect over the Connect Amp? (since I don't need an amplifier). I know the purpose of the Connect is mainly to provide audio to your existing speakers, but it seems to be the cheapest op

I am looking to pair of Kef q150 with Sonos Connect:Amp. I see that the Connect:Amp give 55W per channel but the q150 require 10-100W. Does that mean that the Connect:Amp will underpower the speakers ? FYI.. the impedance of q150's are 8ohm.

I have two (2) Play:1 speakers eetup in a stereo pair in my living room. I am considering buying another pair to use outside under the roof of our overhang and/or cabana (where we will have a TV). Both overhang and cabana are under construction. I thought of adding electrical outlet in different locations to support the Play:1 speakers... so will do this. But there are some other thoughts... 1. Long power cable comes with the Play:1 speakers... would be great if shorter version included with each Play:1 to support close proximity receptacle. That way, don't have lengthy power cord wrapped/looped around (subject to EM noise/interference, impacting sound experience) and it is easier/cleaner to install. Another thought... 2. Instead of power outlet, I could install CAT5/6 Ethernet cable (within or on it own) to support BOTH a wired LAN connecton (perhaps a Wifi extended or local access point/switch... which I happen to have) AND PoE (Power over Ethernet) where DC coul

How do I connect my Samsung Smart TV to my existing wifi speakers using Sonos? I already have my existing wifi set up with a Connect to be able to stream via my wifi speakers. Can I use the same Connect box to connect my TV (in the same place) to also use my wifi speakers?

My family room has 4 in-wall speakers, 2 in front and 2 in back. i would like to make them part of a surround sound system for our TV. Can the new Sonos Amp do this? I've read some articles and specs but I'm not an expert so I'm not clear if this is possible.

Hi, I have a PS4 Pro set up with my Sonos Beam through a Samsung TV. The Beam is connected using the HDMI ARC slot, the PS4 is regular HDMI. I like to listen to my music through the Beam while I'm playing some games but while I am playing the sound continuously cuts back to the game sounds when I press the buttons on my PS4 controller. The PS4 is overriding my Sonos playback choice? Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? Thanks

I am travelling to Italy in january and am looking to buy Sonos One to add to my collection. I cannot seem to find a store in the store locator anywhere in Italy. Surely this cant be right?

will my play 1's connect to my beam while watching tv?

G'day Sonos Fans. Please bare with me whilst I explain my scenario. ISP Router: 192.168.1.254 (static/DHCP) Wireless Bridge (Asus): 192.168.1.253 (static) 24 Port POE Switch (Dummy) 14 other Devices connected. Recently added sonos beam + sub, no issues worked flawlessly. Yesterday I added a Sonos Amp (x2) and Sonos Boost; It worked for a couple of hours; and at about the 4 hour mark my internet had shut off and ever since I've been playing with gremlins. I originally had the configuration as follows: ISP Router > Switch > Boost > AMP. After it broke I changed the AMP and BOOST to connect directly to the switch - I have not tried a different ethernet cable. I changed the Wireless Bridge to Auto channel and Sonos Boost to Channel 6 - No change in issue. Internally wireless connects, though cannot get to Google for example - sonos music unavailable etc. Externally my CCTV (LAN) + Solar inverter (Wireless) - I can connect to both outside of house network - ISP R

Hello Sonos Community, I am doing a big bathroom renovation, and want to put 2 speakers in my "steam shower" and 2 speakers in the main part of the bathroom, for a total of 4 speakers.... all connected as one zone to one amp. I have seen the documentation here that this is possible: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/265?language=en_US#4_speakers But, nothing is ever easy. :) Since it's a steam shower, the speaker is going to get soaked. As such, I'm looking at marine-grade speakers. After talking with Crutchfield, they recommended the "Kicker KM604W" speakers for inside the shower and the Polk Audio RC60i (or 80i) for the main part of the bathroom. The issue, however, is that the Kicker marine speakers are: 4 ohm The Polk speakers are: 8 ohm On the Sonos link above it says: To attach 4 speakers to a single Amp or Connect:Amp, the speaker impedance must be 8 ohms. Anything outside of that may damage the Amp, Connect:Amp, or speakers. Yikes.... now

I have a Sonos connect in my living hooked up to my AV receiver. If I'm in a different room in my house with my Mac, is there a way to also play the same music through my Mac using the Sonos Controller?

Recently my office was broken into and I had (2) Play 1 speakers stolen. Both were fairly new and I have the receipt showing the Serial Number of both speakers. A police report was filed. I am wondering if Sonos can track the speakers to a new registered user as the speakers are registered on the app in order to use them. Any info would be appreciated. I would love to have the police follow up on this with the assistance of Sonos. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Hi, Just got the beam this weekend and when my kids go to watch TV, often the sound has been switched to music on the beam. I know that you can ask Alexa to change it back to TV, but I am not planning on using Alexa, I do not like Alexa. Also my kids don't use the App, so I have to manually change it back for them every time. One thread said you can just hit volume up or down on the TV Remote and it will kick in but that didn't work for me. Any other suggestions?

I've set up my beam and get sound while watching Freeview via internal tuner. The problem is when I wake Nvidia Shield TV with HDMI CEC, there is what looks like a Sonos screen saver I assumed that as the Beam has ARC, I could use my Shield as usual for Video and the beam would handle audio? Sony TV HDMI (1) ARC > Sonos Beam (Ethernet) HDMI (2) > Nvidia Shield TV

Wondering if anyone can help me troubleshooting why Google Assistant doesn't control my Sonos speaker. I have linked my IFTTT account with my Sonos account. There appears to be no way of linking to Google Home or Assistant. Google reveals nothing on troubleshooting this and can find nothing in the Sonos form

Would my wired Speakers connected to the Sonos Amp play in perfect sync with the Beam? I’d like to have them all play together if it will work.

I'm possibly going to order a Play:5, but do I want the Gen 2 version? And when was the second Gen launched? (How can I tell whether the unit I get is Gen 1 or 2?

Hi, I have an older Philips TV (42PES0001 d) that has HDMI but not ARC, it has L/R audio out and Digital Audio Out - Coaxial. I am having trouble finding a connection method to the single HDMI port on the Beam. Google hasn't helped, hoping someone here can put me in the right direction. Thanks in advance JD
