I'm possibly going to order a Play:5, but do I want the Gen 2 version? And when was the second Gen launched? (How can I tell whether the unit I get is Gen 1 or 2?

It was several years ago. A new one from a retailer will be Gen 2. But if you are buying privately then the Gen 1 has a headphone jack whilst the Gen 2 does not
