I have Sonos through out the house. Some run though a Savant amp and some through Connects. I am trying to add a sub to a room that is not using a Connect. It is not allowing me and says that a sub can only be used in a room with a Play or Connect Amp. Really? Is there a work around? Thank you in advance.

My current setup is a Panasonic TCP42S2, an Apple TV 4, and a Samsung BD-J4500R Blu Ray player all connected via hdmi. I have an optical out from the TV to my Playbase. For some reason, when using my Apple TV, I get 5.1 on my Playbase just fine. But when using Blu Ray, I only get stereo. I’ve tried every setting possible on the player and my tv. I’ve ensured the Blu Ray is set to “re-encode Dolby D” and downmixing is set to “Surround”. I’ve turned off CeC, changed hdmi cables, swapped inputs, and no dice. My only thought is, in the Blu Ray player manual, there’s this stipulation: “[i]If your TV is not compatible with compressed multi-channel formats (Dolby Digital, DTS), the player may output PCM 2ch downmixed audio even though you selected Bitstream (either Re-encoded or Unprocessed) in the setup menu.[/i]” How does it decide this and can I override it? Alexa - what a piece of junk. I'm serious. :@ I ask it to play a group (Cream today) and it will either play one, or if I'm lucky two songs then stop. Or if it does move to a third song it plays rap. Rap for God's sake. The last thing I want to listen to is rap crap. I asked it to play sixties music today. Two songs and silence. It has become very obvious to me that the people who program this device do not know what they are doing. A lot of money for a piece of garbage. Merry Christmas to my wife.... not.

I have 2 Ones in a stereo pair Alexa is working on both but independently sometimes shouting Alexa the left speaker responds other times its the right, it can sometimes be I am standing next to the left speaker but its the right that wakes up or visa versa more often than not neither respond. My question is should I have Alexa working on both my Ones if so are there plans to have them act as one i.e. both Ones listen for the wake word with Alexa replying out of both. I'm an Amazon Prime customer so I have access to their Prime Music service, though it's not the unlimited version; which I understand to mean that a subset of the music in Amazon's catalog is included for streaming but not everything. My question is ... when I enable Alexa on the Sonos One, by default, the device is authorized by my Amazon account. Does that mean when I tell it, for example, "Alexa, play Jimi Hendrix", the only songs it will select are those which are free per my Prime account? In other words, can I be confident that Alexa won't select an artist's songs not included in my account and charge me for playing them? My intent with enabling Alexa was to use it to play music from my personal library on my NAS, but learned on this community that this isn't an option (and I concur with the vast majority of comments that this a huge gap in the product's functionality). Is there a list of Echo commands that we can use now? It would be nice if ALL of the Amazon Echo Skill’s designer would make these lists and keep them current.

Hi peeps. I have 2 new Sonos Ones as a left and right stereo pair. I am thinking of buying a Playbar, which I know will connect to my tv through the audio out through it, but can I connect all speakers together and play Spotify / Deezer through Playbar and Ones as a whole?? Thanks!!

I am new to Sonos but about to buy. I have read a lot but don't know the technology or the Sonos App so would appreciate clarifying the following. I plan to get a Playbase for TV. I am also thinking 2 Play:1 or 2 Play :3. These would be used either as part of a 5.1 setting, or in kitchen and dining room when we have guests or long dinners. Is it easy to move the speakers from being stereo in surround sound setting to single speakers in different rooms? Or does it require major reconfiguration each time they move? We are liable to end up with them in 1 place and maybe extend the system, but want to start with something that is viable for both configurations and see how that goes. The reason for Play:3 vs Play:1 is thinking they could be used as individual speakers. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Jim

I have a playbase wired to my router with two Play Ones. They were working perfectly a few days ago. Today I noticed that the play ones were no longer connected. I managed to add them again to the surround system, but no sound comes out of the rest speakers. I noticed that the playbase is WM0, meaning boost mode, but the Play Ones are WM1, meaning standard. Is this causing the problem? Any suggestions on how to fix this? I really want to get my beloved Surround Sound working again! Thanks!

I have a Crosley recored player plugged into my Play 5. Simply put, I am not happy primarily with the quality and secondary the volume of sound coming out. What can I do to improve sound? As it does have a built in preamp will an external amp or another preamp or sonos connect or sonos amp improve sound quality (or damage anything)? note- I cannot upgrade the record player as it was a gift from my wife so hoping something between the record player and play 5 will do the trick. I ran the room calibration. I'd really just like the stereo pair (two ones) of speakers to play music, then the paybar, with the surrounds for TV. But even with music going though the playbar, is there a way to balance it better so the surrounds are the main source?

I currently have 5 rooms in my flat, each with an Alexa dot connected to a powered speaker. I get multi-room audio such as "Alexa play Jazz in the kitchen". What additional features do I get if I invest in Sonos? I don't see the difference, please help me understand the buzz! Thanks

Hi there, I have a Play 3,5 and Sub. And I just got sonos one for Christmas and have had everything in standard mode. Question is this, because the new One has an Ethernet port at the back, can I use as the facilitator in a boost configuration? I was under the impression I could, but I’m struggling a bit getting it there. Thanks in advance!

Obviously a high steam environment with lots of moisture around. Can I use a Sonos speaker here if it's mounted high up on the wall where only steam is an issue?

My setup in the kitchen is I have a pair of Sonos One's in stereo sitting ontop of a welsh dresser at the back of the kitchen. Overall using Alexa works great on these as I can see from their lights that both initially fire up, but then one Sonos One takes over and processes the command. I've had no issues with doing most commands but my problems is this; [list] [*]Asking Alexa to set a timer [/list] I ask Alexa to set a timer for 5 minutes. I then ask Alexa how long left on the timer, and it depends totally as to where I'm standing as to which speaker picks up, but sometimes I get the response "No timers set" (from the One that didn't process the command) and sometimes 4.30 remaining (which is correct response). Its a bit of a pain but involves me trying one speaker and then the other till i get the response. The easiest fix would be to turn the microphone off on one speaker, so that all my timers are processed through one speaker only, but I can't seem to find that setting.

Hi We moved into a new house and the guys that set our tv onto the wall connected our play 5 to our tv which sounded great! Today I connect all our play 1 & 5 on the sonos controller so we can listen to our own music / radio but now the tv has lost the sound through the sonos 5? I'm not very good with this kind of things, is there anyone out there that can help me in very simple terms how to get the sonos r 5 to play the sound from the telly again? Help please!!!

For example, could I have the Sonos One in the Living Room and say "Alexa play Jazz" in the Kitchen via a Sonos Play:1? If I have music playing everywhere, can I selectively turn off groups via voice control?

I group my speakers in several different ways depending on what we're doing. rather than manually having to group them each time, can I name my groups. Advantage would also be, I assume, that I can get Alex to play to that group of speakers. I understand I can group devices in Alex but see that it has problems doing it that way. Appreciate anyone's experience with doing this.

HI Can you use a Sonos Playbar with just one Play1 as surround instead of two?  I only have one Play 1 st present and what to use it as a left surround for the playbar but i cant seem to get it to work.  I can add it but it does not output anything so i was thinking that it only becase active once you add the second? Can someone confirm if you can have a Sonos Playbar with just one Play1 as a surround (Left). Thanks Mark

We have a Play:1 at work and the other day the bass on the speaker blew. Seems odd that the volume control on such a compact system could blow the speaker. Is there any way to get it fixed or get credit towards a new one?

Hello, My setup is a sonos playbar and 2 play ones. Want to purchase a LGOLED55B7V but want to know 2 things first. 1)Can tv send 5.1 dolby digital via optical out from a hdmi source? 2)Is the lip sync spot on from tv to soundbar?

Keep getting the message that an update for my desktop controller (iMac) is available but I get an error message when I attempt to download it. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi everyone, thanks for any help or input in advance. I just bought a Playbar, Sub, and 2 Playones for surround sound/music in my basement. I watch a lot of basketball but have been very disappointed with the surround during the broadcast. I feel like I should be getting crowd noise and what not in my rear surrounds but I get pretty much nothing, except sound effects when they do graphics or a random really loud clap from a fan. I watch the Vikings/Eagles game on Sunday and it seemed to work great, but I wasn't paying as close of attention to it at the time. Everything seems to kick on and work great during commercials but then drops off again. My Sono's set up sounds amazing when playing music or watching Movies. I called support and the latest answer I got was that it's just the way basketball games are mic'd and they get lots of complaints about. Is this true or are they giving me the run around. Thanks!
