Does anyone know if you can connect the TV to the HDMI of the Beam and a record player (through a convertor) to the spdif and use both (not at the same time of course)?

I have 3 connects in my basement and all have worked fine for the past 3 years. However, there was a short in the electrical outlet that are used for the connects. When I reset the outlet and turned on the 3 connects only 2 worked. The Third connect alternates white and orange light and will not play. Any suggestions?

I have 4 smart TP Link devices which have always worked via sonos Alexa but now when I ask to turn on, change colour etc Sonos Alexa says "sorry, I didn't find front room light". I've checked all apps and the names are correct. I've even reset the sonos one but still no joy. Edit: should add the Echo I have in the bedroom understands and completes any commands I ask of it.

Hello to all. Let’s assume I’m going to buy an Apple TV 4K, and connect it to my TV via HDMI. The TV is connected via optical to Playbar, and I have both Sub and 2x play:1. None of my Sonos speakers is going to be updated with Airplay 2, like I.e. Playbase or Sonos One. But Apple TV is airplay 2 compatible. Can I cast music from my IPhone (Apple Music) directly to Apple TV and listen to it with my Sonos 5.1 setup? If yes, to let it work, must I turn on the TV screen or not? Thanks

Hello all, Another topic caused by the lack of DTS support by Sonos. I invested some money in a new home media entertainment setup. Bought a LG OLED55C7V, Sonos Playbase and Nvidia Shield. Everything works pretty great, however I do run into the problem that .mkv files with DTS audio are being downgraded to stereo sound when played with kodi. I've strounded the internet looking for the ideal settings, but the so called solution of setting Kodi to 2.0 channels and enable audio passtrough is not doing the trick for me. Audio settings on my LG tv are: audio output: auto with SIMPLINK enabled. Anyone able to help me out with this issue? Thank you in advance!

Since Sonos has announced that Airplay 2 is coming in July and that the Playbase is supported - this should be an answerable question Can anyone list the Pro's / Con's of NOT using the Optical Connection from the Playbase to the TV - but instead using the Apply TV Airplay 2 to transmit the sound to the Playbase ?

Playbar with FIOS cable box remote? Currently the volume button on the FIOS remote controls the volume on my Samsung SMARTV... can I program that same remote to adjust volume of the playbar?

For example whenever I try to ask Alexa to play the radio on my Sonos One, it will always say “Hmm to do that enable your Sonos Skill in the Alexa app, After enabling the skill just say, Alexa discover devices.” After going through and determining that the Alexa app has the Sonos Skill enabled , I’m able to go through the website to play music through Alexa but actually telling it voice commands won’t work pertaining to that , or for any skill of that nature. I have seen a few of these postings but they seem to be older. I was wondering if this is going to get fixed? I don't understand why it would all of the sudden just stop playing music after a few songs or sometimes just after one song. Then if I tell it "Echo, next track" it replies "What do you want to hear". So I tell it again to play a station from Pandora and it works just fine. It may play for the rest of the day, it may stop. Very frustrating. Other times when I tell it the second time to play the same station, it tells me that it is already playing. The Sonos app even reflects the same info but yet there is no music coming from the speakers. All of my speakers are on one group and they all have unique names, even separate from the lights that are in the same rooms so there should be no conflict there.

I’m curious. When a system is in ‘Boost’ mode, does a new speaker only use sonosnet to join the system and obtain uodates etc, or does it initially use wifi before placing itself onto the Mesh? I’m guessing the latter. As today i added a new pair of Play Ones in the garage which is integral (in the basement, with concrete ceiling above solid block walls on all sides ) where my iphone could not get a wifi signal (iphones kept seipping the signal if I obtained it outside the gagrage and then entered). I could get a signal inside the ‘house’ part of the basement, and the Play Ones joined, uodated and played like troopers. Router is two storeys up theough two concrete floors. So either Mesh works from the outset or they have some amazingly strong wifi! Anyone know the answer?

I have a Toshiba model 55UL605U TV and Cisco Explorer 8642HDC cable box. I have a Playbase and 2 Play:1's. I have tried connecting the IR Audio to the TV and then to the cable box and the surround sound does not work with either option. It works fine when playing music. The TV has Dolby Digital Plus and the cable box settings for audio say Digital. Any ideas on why the setup is not working?

Can't seem to use desktop controller on Mac or iPad when my iPhone is out of the house. Message states my iPhone isn't found. Have i set the other controller apps up incorrectly?

I've had a Sonos system for a couple of months now, and already, "my Sonos" will no longer hold any more albums or playlists. Is there a simple work-around for this problem? Is that what "My Cloud Home" and "Plex" are for, since both are add-on services for Sonos?

I have a Play 5 that sits below the living room TV. If I purchased a Beam would I be able to "link" the two for improved sound?

I have reviewed numerous posts on this subject, but have yet to find a definite answer. I've spoken to Niles and Sonos and neither can say if it will. I currently have several Sonos Components. I have Definitive Technology AW6500s on my patio and Definitive Technology DI8Rs in the kitchen. Both pairs are powered by separate Connect Amps, and sound great. I have a pair of Niles RS6SI rock speakers on another Connect Amp. The Niles rocks sound great, but seem power starved at louder levels. I have these by my pool connected with 100-125' of 12Awg. I have been offered a pair of Niles RS8SI rock speakers, and I know these will require more power. So, to do this I just ordered a Sonos Connect and a Niles SI-2150 amplifier. With the Sonos Connect connected to the Niles amp with RCA, will the Sonos Connect activate the Niles amp's audio sensing? I've read a few posts saying it will, and some saying it won't. Hello folks, newb to the community here. I just got a one and everything is set up fine except multiple voices recognition. When I try to add my voice using my iPhone, I never can click the "Begin" phase, the button is always greyed out. It always says I need a recognized device ... is the One, not a recognized echo yet? Can you run a play 5 1st gen directly thru the alexa sonos skill? I have set up the skill it see the speaker but alexa does not recognize it. Just want to play tunein or send bluetooth music from my phone to alexa then to the play 5

Hi, I have recently installed the sonos app on my Samsung g7. It all works great except when I want to play music from my device: no file appear, even when I have mp3 files in my Music folder. I have tried other location but nothing works. I have also removed and reinstalled the app and it didn't work eighter. Thanks for your help!

Hello: Do you think the Beam is right for me? I am currently heavily invested in Sonos with 12 speakers in 9 zones, all for music. I mostly play music off my NAS and also stream Sirius/XM Satellite radio. My listening taste are mostly Springsteen, Classic Rock, Classical, Opera and Jazz. A secondary question would be whether to take the plunge on the Sub. My interest in the Beam is in improving the audio out of my inexpensive LED TV's. I don't sit down to watch TV for hours; the TV's are often on in the background while eating, playing with the dog, etc. An exception to this is playing the Switch. Because I'm not watching home theater, I was never interested in the Playbar/Playbase that cost more than my TV's. I would be interested in the Beam for these three TV's: #1 Living Room TV: Samsung UN46EH6000 Sonos: 2 X Play 5. They are currently parallel to the TV, about five feed off to either side. Is it possible to play tv sound through more than just the playbar and attached designated surround speakers? When I play music through a group and then I put tv on it stops all speakers except playbar and the Two surround speakers. How can I have tv sound come out of more speakers at same time?

Hi all! I have a Playbar installed in the Family Room. I wanted to add an Echo Dot for volume control and to play music through the playbar. My question is, can I give Alexa commands for this without having to say "In the Family Room" every time? It would be great if we could default all commands to be the playbar for this one Echo Dot. "Alexa, set volume 3 in the family room" "Alexa, Play Van Morrison in the living room" It's just a bit long winded. This dot will only ever be to control this one setup. I looked for a way to default things but was unable to find them. Other Info: We currently have just the one Sonos device. We do have other Echo Dots in the house. Any suggestions or tips appreciated.

Hi all, I want to buy some new floor standing (preferably white) speakers to use on my connect amp. They’ll be in the front room and mainly used for TV and music. I have been using a pair of tannoys that I purchased about 20 years ago so am in major need of an upgrade and wondered what experience and recommendation people may have. Since updating my Sonos One to 8.6, I haven’t been able to play certain radio stations in particular the main BBC radio stations Radio 1, 2 3 and 4 , when started from Amazon Alexa, although it will play local BBC radio stations from Alexa. When I request:- Alexa “Play BBC radio 4”, Alexa says “Here’s radio 4 FM” then you here in another voice “The BBC” then it’s just silence. But if I go to my iPad and call up BBC Radio 4 it then plays ok. Can I go back to how it use to work?

It seems like the Fire TV Cube was built to perform many similar functions as the Beam in terms of smart voice control (e.g. remote control capabilities). Are the two going to be able to work together?
