Sorry if this has been answered already. I am trying to clarify how airplay 2 volume control works with grouped sonos devices. More specifically: I am thinking of re acquiring a sonos connect after selling mine a while back. I understand that if I group the connect with an airplay 2 enabled Sonos One, I can then use my iphone to airplay music directly to this group. My question is: If I want to control this grouping outside the sonos app, will I be able to use my iphone (through apple music) to control volume separately for the sonos connect and sonos one? or will the particular grouping (Sonos connect + Sonos One) show up as a single volume slider hence not allowing for separate volume control for each device? I have a Sonos Beam called Living Room and an Echo Dot. How do I tell Alexa to play music specifically from the Echo Dot or Beam?

Two of the play 1 and the play 3 we have cannot be found after recent app update. I do not see under the manage tab, where you use to be able to add a play or sub. The 13 other play 1 are working.

On the following page (https://support.sonos.com/s/article/1230?language=en), it says this new feature works with Beam, One, Playbase, and Play 5. Then, it says: You can also group [i]any other Sonos speaker [/i]with an AirPlay 2 compatible Sonos speaker for multi-room playback. If that’s the case, then a Play 1 would receive the sound when it’s networked with a compatible speaker. Given that, I just don’t understand why the Play 1 doesn’t work by itself alone with AirPlay when it’s just a firmware update. I received that update, so why not use it on all speakers? Hi, I have a Sonos One device (my one and only device) showing as "kitchen" on the Alexa app and and I am unable to save its location. I live in Montreal, Canada. Did not have problems saving the location for the Sonos One but unable to save for the "kitchen" which is the same unit...?? Why is that. I can ask Alexa "Where am I?" and she knows exactly where I am, but yet she cannot give me the weather because she doesn't know where I am... makes no sense. Tried many uninstall, remove device, detect device... no change every time. Very frustrating, spent many hours trying to resolve the problem, no luck still. Thanks for all the help !

Hi guys hoping for some help, not an audiophile by any stretch so go easy on me, laymans terms please. Got and oldy but goody set up in the flat, projector (Infocus IN1144) VGA to laptop (Toshiba satellite C850) with AUX from laptop to old speaker, which just kicked the bucket( not so much of a goody)... have a few play1s in other rooms so thought I'd get a beam and have some fun. Unfortunately I read HDMI connection not HDMI arc (wtf the difference is, though arc was worse!) and now having allsorts of issues. Currently, Beam won't detect laptop when HDMI directly in (assuming not HDMI arc compatable) but Beam will find projector when HDMI'd in. But, with beam on HDMI for sound you can't get image from laptop over VGA... suggestions please. I was going to pick up 2 to 1 HDMI adapter for the back of the project for both Beam and Laptop to attach but this would just be trial and error. Hi, I watched the Youtube video explaining the steps to setup a Connect with an Elite compatible receivers. I understand in the steps that you have to select the Elite zones you want the music (main - zone2 - zone3) QUESTION: If i need main and zone2, will it show in the Sonos app as two different zones that i could power on independently, like if i had two Play Ones? I don't need to play different music because it is an open erea but i want to be sure that i can select the main or the zone2 or both (group) exactly the same way it already works with Sonos gears. Want to avoid using Pioneer app to power on zones. Thanks,

Sonos is my "whole-house" music system. I also use Amazon music as my source for most music. I would like an option to have all sound and music that comes via Alexa to be played through Sonos by default - so that I don't have to call out the room ID every time. Is something like this in the works between Sonos and Amazon?

I have a Sonos Bridge and play 5 since 2014 and I'm no longer able to use them since on all my devices I get 'The software on this device is outdated.... ' I tried to update the controller via the PC and now the bridge and play 5 are at version 9.2 but still not able to connect with any of my android devices. How do I get it back working and use what I have paid for even if it means using the previous software as it was working just fine for me and I had no issue until this upgrade was forced.

Error in desktop controller

I have been having Wifi issues and switched over to a Boost system. Running Sonos from my wired in PC appears fine, it will talk to ALL speaks across a 3 story house, however I can no longer get my phone (iphone) to connect to the new Sonos wifi. Does anybody else have this issue...if so please do you have any advice on how you fixed it. I'm bored of having to run down two flights of stairs to use, what should be, a wire less system...? I have a dock and iPod classic running in a multi room setup (3 Connects + Playbar and some scattered :1s). When the dock stops working (as per 9/13/18 Sonos email), I guess I’ll hook it into a Connect via the line in. A few questions for this with more knowledge than me (everyone). I’ll lose visibility of what’s playing and control of the iPod through the software? Does it matter which Connect gets the Line In? All will be able to see it? If I dock the iPod in a DAC bypass dock (Onkyo), run the digital out to a stand-alone DAC, then DAC-out to the Connect, am I just D-A-D-Aing the signal? (I don’t want to get into a DAC debate here, that’s well covered elsewhere, please, I’m just trying to understand the signal path). Don’t see any reason to convert the signal multiple times...but I do like to bypass the internal DAC in the Classic. Sorry for the newbie questions, help appreciated.

I have a Bose Lifestyle 5 from 2006 in our great room. It is now dead, but wiring is in the wall for front and rear bose lifestyle jewel cube 5.1 speakers. It also powers in ceiling speakers in a bathroom and bose 501 speakers in an exercise room. In our media room I have an existing playbar. What is the best way to set up a new surround sound system in the media room (use existing speaker wire or go totally wireless), and how can I power the ceiling the bose 501 speakers?

I have just bought 2 sonos ones. They seem to work OK, though I'm still getting used to them. However, the power socket cannot be pushed far enough into the connector in the base of the speaker to allow it to sit flush. The speakers therefore rock on the power cable sockets and do not sit firmly on the speakers four feet, which i'm assuming is what they are supposed to do. I do not want to force the socket any more than I already have. Anyone any ideas?

My playbar is currently sitting on a cabinet below my tv and I can adjust the volume up or down just fine. I finally got my tv mounted and have now mounted my Playbar just below my tv. For whatever reason the volume does not adjust with my DirecTV remote. Any thoughts?

about 70% of the time use my SOnos i have to do some update or another and it takes several minutes... every time and half of that is of checcking after it has already told me it has one to do Ge guys - i want it when i want it - and dont want my wife having to try to manage updates and re-authentications each month please get smarter

I just got the Nintendo Switch today, but there's no optical out on the system. If I just use the optical out on my tv instead of through the system like I do for the xbone, will that output 5.1 surround sound? I know I had to change some settings around in the xbox to get surround sound working, I'm wondering if anyone knows the best way to accomplish this with the Nintendo Switch.

As of today I can't get BBC Radios 2 or 4 to play on my Sonos Ones. It says it's playing eg BBC Radio 4 from TuneIn but it doesn't. Anyone else getting this?
