I purchased a Sonos playbar-sub and play 1 system for my living room. Best Buy geek installed and placed the play bar on a solid wooden shelf above the tv. I mentioned that was against the instructions that I had read and he insisted it was ok. Is this correct or do I need to put on the same shelf as the tv? According to instructions he is wrong and I want to get the best possble sound from this great system.

I have sonos equipment and am interested in expanding by adding a beam to my home theater set up. I am wondering if there is any advantage of using the HDMI cable instead of setting it up with just the wifi? The current theater set up has a laptop connected to the project and bluetooth speakers but this arrangement does not handle dialogue well and I am hoping to solve that with the beam. The projector has an HDMI input but not HDMI ARC. Will I need an HDMI splitter if there is an advantage to using a wired set up? If I added two sonos 1 speakers as part of the theater set up would I be able to use them as mobile speakers in an adjacent bedroom if I wanted or does the surround sound set up make this complicated and require re-tasking the speaker? Hi, How should one manage multiple components with just 1 HDMI in on the 2018 AMP. I've got 3 sources (HTPC, Xbox, Switch) The way I see it, there are 2 options: 1) Get an HDMI switcher with at least 3 inputs and 2 outputs. Send 1 output to the AMP and 1 to the TV. 2) Get an HDMI switcher with 1 output and send that output to the TV, and then use an HDMI ARC connection from the TV back to the Sonos 2018 AMP. So, what are the pros/cons of these options. Would syncing be better with option 2 since the Sonos and TV are on the same HDMI ARC connection? Any other suggestions? I've always used an AVR in the past and plugged all components into the TV. I do not use the TV apps. Thanks!

Will Sonos One speakers wirelessly connect to Wi-Fi enabled Yamaha TSR-7850 7.2-Channel Network AV Receiver?

If I buy a sonos one to control a sonos amp and I put them in group mode and I ask alexa a question, will alexa answer in both the sonos one and the sonos amp? Ideally, I would like to put them in group mode, turn the sonos one volume all the way down (so that the sonos one sound doesn't confuse the sound in the room coming from amp and my main speakers), and then be able to control what the sonos amp plays (or says) by using alexa in the sonos one? Effectively, this would be the same thing as having alexa built into the sonos amp (rather than merely having alexa "work with" the sonos amp). Does this work? Any downside to doing this other than cost? Alan

Wonder if anyone can help. I have the 5.1 setup for my tv and I have my bass set to a quarter on the sub settings which I'm happy with for everyday telly. Now when I listen to music I have to turn up the bass to just over half way to which i'm also happy with the sound.So the Question is,is there any way of saving the Sub settings for music and the settings for tv so I don't have to keep adjusting the sub level settings.

Curious if anyone has used a Play 5 to connect to RCA cables of a Vinyl Player. Can you then stream to your others SONOS speakers in the house? Is there an advantage or disadvantage to this as compared to connecting to the SONOS Connect?

I would just like to play the music from my media server over my Sonos speakers without having to have a connection to the internet. Is that such a hard thing to ask Sonos to provide ?

I am thinking of purchasing a Sonos Beam, but since my tv does not have a HDMI ARC or optical out connection, can i just plug the beam into a standard HDMI port for the sound. I understand that i will not be able to use voice controls to control the tv. Just wondering if the sound will still come through the beam if i connect to standard HDMI. Thanks

I have a Sonos Play:One is a few rooms and have just bought a Sonos One (with Alexa) as a first step into bringing Alexa into our home. My plan was to have a integrated unit upstairs and then add an Echo Dot into the kitchen and lounge over time. So far I have the Sonos One set-up (haven't played with it much yet) and added one Dot today but haven't got very far. I wanted to check what I intend to do is possible and seem to be having some trouble getting set-up. 1. Use Alexa to control music through the Sonos system - presumably this is possible and from reading it seems this should be the case with or without the Sonos One. 2a. When asking the Dot to play music (in the kitchen) it simply plays music through itself, not the Sonos and in some cases has kept playing the existing track on Sonos and a second track through the Dot - what do I need to ask/teach Alexa to do here? I don't want to play music through the dot, just control the music. 2b. As above but if I say play

I want to change the standard setting of alexa as the wake word to computer, which is a standard option under alexa but is not showing with the sonos integrated software

New to Sonos but understand that playing music off my iPhone 6S is a problem with my Sonos home entertainment system installed in our new house. Music stops and jumps to another song or stops all together. A real pain in the butt. Streaming Sirius, Pandora, Amazon...not an issue. I’ve read similar posts from a month ago. Any updates on this topic?

Hi all, I just bought the Beam and two play:1s as rear speakers for the surround sounds. They all work great, I have the beam connected to my LG B7 through HDMI, and in additional to that, I also have an Apple TV. While all the TV & Movies sound great, no problems. The setting within the Sonos App where you can tweak the rear speakers, so they can be louder also response to my liking. However, when playing music (through Apple Music on the Apple TV), the Music setting within the App doesn’t response like it does for TV sounds. Then I figured it out, that if I Airplay 2 the music to the beam instead of playing it directly on Apple TV, the setting kicks in and work as it should. For example the setting where you can chose if the rear speakers should be in the back ground or play full. Can somebody explain the above behavior? I have an older Samsung (2013?) -- MODEL LN55C630. It has 4 HDMI ports (one labeled DVI), but none labeled ARC. I can connect via the optical and the sound is great, but I have no other controls (on/off, volume, etc.) and I get that annoying "Not Available" message at every volume adjust. HOWEVER -- The Anynet+ CEC recognizes the Beam, controls the volume, I don't get the "NA" message and seems fine -- BUT NO AUDIO. Seems like I'm almost there with the Anynet+CEC, does everything, but sound. Is my only choice to buy a new TV with ARC? I don't see an option when connecting through the app. Any ideas? Really appreciate any help. Please and thanks!

Hi - I bought Sonos Play 3 speakers last year and love them. I want to start trying out DJing and want to buy the Pioneer DDJ-SB3 Controller. Are they compatible? It would be frustrating to have to buy new speakers for this.

What does the volume control (+ or -) do? Mine does not change annything

I have an existing Sonos home theatre and now have an LG TV (model 55UJ6300-UA) who's remote won't play nice. I have run all the updates as well, so that's okay. Unlike my previous TV that was hooked up to it (a Samsung), the LG remote won't allow me to adjust my Playbar or the two Play:1s I'm using for surround sound I also have a Sub if that matters. Like another person posted about the exact problem he had with his Sony (https://en.community.sonos.com/home-theater-228993/tv-remote-vs-sonos-controller-volume-control-for-tv-in-a-playbar-play-1-setup-6787229), my entire system is set up correctly and grouped together and Playbar is connected to my LG TV. The TV remote is configured too. Also, the sound settings in TV is set to "Audio Out (Optical/HDMI/ARC)" The roblem is that even though I reduce the sound using the TV remote the Playbar still keeps playing the TV sound. The display in the TV shows sound reducing to 0.., but in fact, it doesn't. So then I have to reduce the volume

Hi... I would love to have a feature where I can predefine a group of players and be able to play to this group... I have a two story house with 11individual players, and it would be perfect to have a predefined group for first floor and second floor. It would make it so much easier compared to the current where I have to choose between the individual players to make my group... I cant connect my Samsung 55 inch to the Sonos Beam tried everything in the manual and phone support but nothing help anyone!

I'm looking to add the Sonos Beam to my two Sonos Ones in order to get a surround sound while watching Netflix. It doesn't look like any of the current streaming devices (Chromecast, Roku, Amazon, my Sony x720E TV) allow me to do that, as they output DD+ and the Beam only accepts DD. To me, this seems like such a basic use case for this device. Do any of you have a suggestion how I could make it work? Happy to buy the Beam today, but need to know that I can use it for the advertised use case :)

1st Problem I ordered 2 Sonos One speakers on 11/22/2018 from the Sonos web site. The order process went without issues. I was sent an email that said what I was charged and that the product would be delivered and set up on 11/28/2018. I also got an email from my credit card company saying there was a charge from Sonos that was an amount 20.81 larger than what my Sonos invoice said. I still don't understand how and why Sonos can actually charge more than they quoted me in their invoice. 2nd Problem I received a 2nd email today reminding me of the following: "Just a reminder, your Sonos delivery is today. Your expert will call or text you prior to your delivery to confirm a precise time. If your expert can't reach you, then they cannot deliver your product." The on line status of the order has never changed from pending. I have no idea how my expert is going to call or text me because I was never asked for my phone number. I assume that my product will not be deliver
