Sonos One won’t connect to WiFi with Connect:Amp

My Play 1 won’t connect over WiFi. I have a Sonos connect amp in the same room (with 4 passive speakers in the ceiling) happily connected over WiFi, but the Play 1 just won’t connect. The only way it works is if it’s physically connected to the router but that’s in another room and I don’t want it positioned there. I don’t have a telephone port in the room with the connect:Amp, so I can’t relocate the router to that room.

So, connect it with that ethernet cable, so it does show up in the controller app, and then submit a system diagnostic, and either post the number here, or contact Sonos to discuss it. There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
