is Alexa unable to speak calendar notifications?

Straight out-of-the-box, my Beam has been experiencing connectivity issues. It appears, in the end, I might have bought a lemon & I’ll be exchanging it for a fresh one tomorrow. However, this has got me thinking: after my Beam is properly set-up, how much functionality will it maintain if I experience an Internet disruption (regardless of whether I’m using a wired or wireless set-up)? I presume, at the most basic level, the HDMI connection to my TV and Blu-Ray player will continue working fine. Is that a safe assumption? And obviously I’d also lose access to Sonos services / streaming (and, presumably, the ability to adjust EQ etc on my Beam?). But, in between those two extremes: would functionality like Bluetooth and AirPlay also be lost in the case of an Internet connection failure? When I was experiencing the WiFi problems, I was amazed that I even couldn’t get AirPlay to work from my iPhone. And I’m trying to wrap my head around how “Internet-dependent” the Sonos ecosystem real

I don’t think what I want to do is unreasonable in 2021.I want one easy screen to turn on and off rooms and show/change what music is playing and control volume.  Preferably in Homekit.I don’t want to have to open the sonos app just to turn on and off music, in a smart home trying to open and close multiple apps is just annoying and clumsy. In Apple HomeKit right now I can see my rooms except for one which has a Playbar.  However if I start a group in sonos then if I click any one room in HomeKit it turns ALL the rooms off/on together.I have Alexa, hubitat, and homekit/apple in my home.  There HAS to be a way but I don’t see why it should be so hard to do.

I have a fairly old Sonos 5 Gen 1 (and an entire house wired with Sonos - eight roooms with Sonos amps, subs etc.) The 5 shows no power. I have tried multiple leads, fuses, sockets, everything except a defibrillator, but it is totally dead. Rigour mortis is setting in.Looking online it seems that many customers experienced a short life expectancy with 1st Gen Sonos 5’s and some have had their units replaced or received a discount to replace or upgrade. Does anyone have experience of this?

Moving on from the SMB 1 issue itself, decided to go back to a previous  configuration where I loaded a copy of my iTunes Music subfolder onto a spare drive on a Desktop PC (on 24x7 for media management).  The iTunes Library itself is stored (now) on a Synology NAS.BACKROUND  - 7 device system, ethernet connected,  been doing SONOS over 12 yearsI had this working for a couple of years until about 4 months ago when the drive I was using was tight on space, so I removed the Music Library and played with the SMB1 issue on a prior NAS.  Proud it worked; but onto today.I installed another drive in this PC, it it Drive A:I tried to add the specific copy of the iTunes music subfolder using this file name:A:\O Drive\iTunes\iTunes Libraries\iTunes Media\MusicNO GOOD   "computer name" not responding Since I had already seen the SONOS app accept  the simple “A:\”  for the library, I then tried:A:\O Drive\iTunes\iTunes Libraries\iTunes MediaNO GOOD   "computer name" not responding OK SONOS, how ab

Trying to figure out why YouTube music doesn't see Move as a Chromecast device. Google Play Music saw the Move just fine but now Google Play music has be sunsetted and is no more. I'm curious if this is a YouTube music issue or a sonos issue or my issue? Anyone else use the native YouTube music app on latest Android and have similar issue? I have YouTube music linked to the sonos app but I'd rather use the native app to cast.

Access denied to pandora?  I tried rebooting phone and wifi nothing helps

Hi there, Just set up arc with 2020 samsung frame tv. Every now and then sound goes in and out. It is resolved by unplugging the arc. I know this has been an issue in the past BUT has there been any real fixes?? Samsung is blaming sonos and sonos is blaming samsung(go figure.) Anyway hoping someone has an answer. Thanks

Hi everyone,First post here.I’m having AirPlay issues: out of the blue (I don’t recall doing anything specific) some of my speakers started asking for AirPlay passwords when I try sending sound to them.I have the problem when sending from all devices (iPad, iPhones, Apple TV) and various versions of iOS 14.Any idea on how to remove this prompt? Thanks!

Hi, My Sonos five gets disconnected from my app and system after the power is unplugged or the router goes out (recently shut the power off for renovations a few times).  I have to put the speaker to factory reset, sync it, then return and update my settings.  Anyone have an idea? Thanks

I have 3 Pandora accounts let’s say A,B,C added to my Sonos S2 App (Sonos One, Playbar, 2xFives). The Sonos One is configured with Google Assistant. The Google Assistant is logged into Pandora account B. My desired outcome is: Hey Google, play “Toddler Radio” and Toddler radio begins on Sonos speakers using the Pandora account I configured in the Google Assistant app : Pandora Account B...alwaysThe result: roughly around ¾ of the time, the configured GA Pandora account B is the one who plays the station. Randomly, Sonos, or Google Assistant will decide to play the music using my account A, which I NEVER want to play Toddler radio. As a result, my adult pandora profile is getting littered with Baby Shark radio and the like.I’ve gone so far as to completely nuke my whole Google Home setup, delete Account B from Google family manager. I’ve attempted to destroy ANY connection on Google’s end between Accounts A and B on the Google side. The only seemingly reliable “solution” is to delete acc

Hi,I have a Beam with two One SL surrounds. I am a little hard of hearing so want to increase the sound on the left rear (the side of the couch I sit on) higher than the right where my wife sits. Would it work if I changed the Left Surround distance to being closer than the right. Also can you force the system to stream voice audio to the rears or is this driven only by the TV stream? Thanks in advanceRoss

The cases on my two play 1's are cracking in the same place, on the top and to the rear of the speaker. No kid or pets to cause damage

Has anyone set up Sonos with Starlink internet yet?  Sounds like they don’t allow much customization on their router but it does do 2.4 and 5. Might be able to use your own router as well but rather use theirs if it works. I’ve found I have to force the 2.4 band to channel 6 to avoid interference. Might not be an option with Starlink router?

I am so frustrated and have started carrying around my Bluetooth speaker now. How can it be possible that the Sonos app keeps stopping saying something about Spotify starting in another room. It is just me…. And my Amazon Music app always just stops randomly. I am fed up and hope someone can help.

I’m new to having Sonos and am setting up my TV stereo after I got a bass box from my dad, which he doesn’t use anymore. Got two One SL and am considering which soundbar to get. However, I’m already frustrated by the software interface, which I simply find lacking and being non intuitive compared to the quality of the sound. Maybe it is because I am generally not using streaming services and have connected a library with the music from my laptop? Help is of course appreciated if there are solutions to these issues:The app on the phone somehow wants to only play one or two songs at a time. No explanation why or any obvious reason why it does this. Took ages to add YouTube to the list of services and have no way of searching for music and playing it. Personally I don’t really use YouTube, but when people come by and want to play something they particularly like, it’s a little embarrassing having to get my old portable Bose speakers, simply because we’re unable to play anything new from Yo

Hi, I have a sonos cinema system made up of one sonos Beam and two sonos one, I would like to know if I can add another pair of five speakers to my cinema system.  Thank you.

Receieving the error message unable to play pandora - access is denied. It works separately from Sonos through the Pandora app on my phone. Other streaming worls through the Sonos app.

Hi,I am unable to turn on Dolby Atmos in my PC settings since installing my Radeon 6900 xt graphics card. It used to work fine with my previous Nvidia GPU. My TV is the LG CX 48” with the Sonos Arc. Everything is set up and installed correctly but I just can’t turn on Dolby Atmos.

Hope someone can help.  We are creating a new large extension which will incorporate a kitchen /dining area and TV Lounge.  We would like our TV connected to a pair of bookshelf or ceiling speakers and would like an additional set of ceiling speakers in the kitchen area.  We want the ability to watch TV using ONLY the bookshelf / 1st set of ceiling speakers but if we want to play music when we are having a party/entertaining we want the ability to play the same sound from ALL 4 speakers.  What would we need to buy to achieve this with Sonos please?

Mvh. Per

Hi, i am trying to buy cinema set with sub, sounder and 2x SL.  I’m trying to buy on Amazon or Currys and all out of stock.  When are stock levels coming back?

Hello,In my Livingroom I have a complete SONOS ARC 5.1 TV Setup. ARC, Sub Gen 3, 2 Sonos One SL.For TV etc. the sound is fine. But my Livingroom ist pretty wide, so when I what to hear music in the whole room, it is pretty centered around the TV Area. Is it possible to add a third One SL Speaker on the other side of the room to support the music sound?Or would is be better to place one of the Surround Speaker asymmetrical to the other? Then the right surround Speaker would be 2,5 meter further away to the centered TV Position than the left one. Thank You
