I'd like to set up a 5.1 or 7.1 system using SONOS separates - 2 x Play 5 (left and right), 1 x Play 5 (Center), 2 x Play 1 (surround) and subwoofer. Is this possible?

Is it possible to set up a sonos playbar as a center channel, i have great in ceiling speakers for front and rear. need a center channel.

I have read that a "permanent group" can be achieved through "Bonding" a group. I setup my remote to control volume on my beam - first my apple tv4k remote and then my tv remote - and the remote sets up fine and controls volume perfectly. However, as soon as I put my beam in it’s permanent place - on a bracket on top of the tv - the volume control stops working. If I take the beam off it’s backet and set it on a chair below the tube and about 18” away the remote works again to control the volume. When I put the beam back up on its bracket - remote will not cotton volume again. This happens with both Apple TV remote and the tv remote. It seems like when the beam is above the tv there is some type of ineterference but it makes no sense to me. Need help please.

same here. I tried 2 remotes. they do work but I have to point super close. hopefully a software update will help. I am using alexa now for volume control

Hi I'm pretty new to all this. Just got a Sonos Beam (to go with an LG OLED55B8SLC TV). It's my only bit of Sonos kit so far. Under sound settings, I have the option to choose either PCM or auto. The setup instructions don't seem to mention which to go for. Which should I choose? (I'm connected via HDMI/ARC). Thanks!

Hi Sonos Community, I'm having an issue with my living room 5.1 right now where my Play One's (with Alexa) aren't working with my 5.1 surround. Here's the situation. I bought a Playbase, Sub, and two Sonos 1's last year. I also bought the Alexa enabled "One's" pair for my bedroom last year as well. This year, I nabbed the Beam for my bedroom which is Alexa enabled. SO with that said, I Swapped my 1's and One's from bedroom to living room and vice versa. (One's went from the bedroom to Living room // Living room 1's went into the Bedroom since the Beam is Alexa enabled). The beam paired seamlessly with the older 1's ( I guess creating 5.0 for the bedroom) and it works. HOWEVER, the Sonos One's (with Alexa) don't work with my playbase now. I keep getting an error when pairing them to the playbase. I've even reset the sonos One's and nothing. They work as speakers when unpaired and standalone/stereo as two speakers. Despite the error, they still show as: Living Room (+Sub+LS+RS).

I have two Sonos Ones and a Sonos Beam setup as the sound system for my tv. It has been working perfectly until this morning. All the sudden I cannot increase or decrease the volume from either the app or the speakers themselves. If I play music from them it's fine, but in trying to watch tv through them it won't allow me to control the volume. I have turned my phone off and on, uninstalled and reinstalled the songs app, and restarted the tv and nothing has helped. I'm not sure how to fix this and the wait time on the phone is extremely long. Thank you for any help you can provide!

I just purchased the Beam. Already have (4) Play 3s and (2) Play Ones and a bridge. Had already experienced some lag and intermittent cut out so through trial and error I reset the WIFI channel to 11 and got the existing speakers worked fine. I added the Beam to a Samsung UN43NU6900FXZA 4K UDH television. I connected using HDMI cables. Set up the Beam using the Sonos App. Though there were a couple hiccups, it connected and created a Theater Systems with the Beam and (2) Play 3s. Works fine for 3, 5 even 15 minutes then audio cuts out while watching TV. It might stay off for 3, 5 or even 15 minutes, then it cuts on. I played with the TV settings for audio which allowed for TV speakers, HDMI, and a third Optical option. It came up as connected to HDMI. When I toggled up to TV SPEAKER it would for a brief moment, play on the TV but then it would shift back to HDMI still with no sound. If I moved it to optical, it wouldn't stay there either. While trying to setup surround sound on my beam and 2 x play:1’s I get an error message saying it failed to setup. I have tried resetting up all the speakers about 6 times now and it fails every time. All speakers are updated and I’m setting up on my iPhone 8plus with the Sonos app up to date. Network is fine and tested and I can get the beam working with the TV (LG) fine but no surround sound. HELP!

I have an ingoing issue what I cannot find a solution to online. I cannot get 5.1 Dolby sound to work only stereo when I use my Xbox One X and using a sonos beam for sound via my Samsung TV (QE55Q8FNATXXU). This works fine in 5.1 dolby on apps on the actual tv but not via my external device xbox one x on passthrough. (HDMI) I have my sonos beam connected via HDMI ARC on the TV on the correct port. The option to select anything but PCM in the TV's sound settings is greyed out. and the settings to change from stereo to 5.1 or bitstream will also not work/select on my xbox, only stereo uncompressed is working. For such an expensive TV and great brand like Sonos I expected no problems like this. Hope someone can help it's driving me nuts.

I have a Sonos Beam and a Panasonic Viera TXP-42GT30. The query is using Alexa via the Sonos Beam. I can ask Alexa to turn the TV sound up as well as turning the TV on/off. The issue is when asking to change TV channels and Alexa details that it can't find the TV device and go the Amazon Alexa app to enable the Panasonic TV via the Skills & Games section. I then search for Panasonic TV which I find & then click on 'Enable To Use'. It then asks me sign-in with my Panasonic ID, which I do. It then asks me to register the device first 'Please check the device information in "Smart Speaker Setting" on your TV This is numeric only and has four fields - you can enter 12 digits by the look of things. Where do I find the Device ID? I have looked through the Panasonic TV setting and cannot readily find it. Please advise or let me know if there is another way to get this to work,

I just purchased a Sonos Beam and Sony 900f. The Sonos beam is plugged in via the Sony HDMI eARC port, and the TV will initially turn on. However, after I turn the TV off and it's off for an extended period of time (perhaps 12+ hours), the TV will not turn back on. Nothing else is plugged into the Sony TV or the Sonos beam and both are running the latest updates. I tried doing a factory reset on the Sony TV, same issue. I'm pretty sure this problem only started after I hooked up the Beam and likely only occurs with the Sonos Beam hooked up. I unplugged the beam from the TV tonight and expect all will be working fine tomorrow. Is this a known issue with the Sonos Beam and 900f when running current firmware / OS? Thanks. Paul

I have a Beam, and 2 ones surround. After last update, TV sound cuts out around every couple minutes. Music is fine. Doesn't matter if I am watching live TV or recorded TV. This is very annoying. My beam and 2 ones completely cut out and not present on the controller a couple of weeks ago. Unplugged the Beam and re-connected, it came back. Have a Samsung UN55JS700DF, HDMI arc from TV to Beam.

I have a number of Sonos speakers in three rooms. Recently purchased a Beam and set up surround sound with 2 Play 1s and Samsung Smart TV. When I play music, all speakers are selected in the group. However, if I turn on TV and play music later, the room which has the Beam and Play 1s has to be reselected. Not a big deal, but irritating!

Hi all, What if you were the artist in Spotify and on the Sonos speakers, now this could be your moment; Karaoke on Sonos. Imagine the fun you have with Sonos and when you could sing into the speakers on your own phone, not alone you but with all your friends togheter. Am thinking about this: The idea is to implant an new function in the Sonos controller app and with using your microphone on your phone to sing with all the songs. Please reply and share! Thankyou. Can I still use Beam with a TV that have neither an HDMI ARC connector, nor an optical output?

Let me start by being clear, i'm not here to dis sonos or their products as I'm a great fanboy of what they do and make and I've just ordered a pair of One's to go with my existing x6 Play 1's. I wouldn't argue that the Sub is capable of delivering deep bass to your sonos setup, but I would like to challenge sonos on how the Sub looks aesthetically as a product. If we look at the Play 1's, the PlayBar an even the current Play 3's they are good to look at and can be placed anywhere in a room, but there is one thing and only this thing that has ever stopped me buying this whopping £699 Sub. (Well apart from her indoors) Frankly it's an Ugly lump of plastic that's sits in the corner of a room hoping that one day instead of being heard someone will take time to admire it. Hello, I have a LG Oled C8 and I want to pair the remote with my playbase so I can control the volume with the magic remote. I have read articles like this one, but I'm already stuck in the first part, because when I set up a sound bar with optical output, I never get the option to choose my manufacturer. The remote for the 2018 model is slightly different than the one is the article btw. I choose optical and then I can only choose "Done" as you see here: Can anyone help me please. It seems impossible that I can't properly use my sonos with a new TV. It's a 700€ product... Thank you.

Hi. I have 3 devices that I normally use with my playbar (satbox, dvd, AppleTV). All used to work fine but now they’ve all stopped working. I reset the playbar and reinstalled it without any issues (normally meaning the playbar actually hears the ‘tv’ signal) I also brought a new 50m optical cable (not cheap and possibly not needed) but this has not fixed the issue. I think the problem might originate from the lastest update, as all was good before. I can still stream music no problem and use inline via connect without a problem. So, ideas please... As we mostly all know by now, some TV’s (especially LG) have lip sync issues with the Beam. Most people report that switching from Dolby to PCM helps the problem. So before I buy a Beam, can anyone tell me what the real world difference is in sound quality and UX (when not using the Beam with any other speakers). Is it really noticeable? If I’m really going to be missing out, should I look at other options?

I am wondering if there is any plans to allow a stereo pair to play along with beam rather than rear surrounds,most people don’t have the space to have rear speakers so a front set to widen sound option would be more useful,also if ambients are in stereo in tv playback then why does it switch to mono during music playback

After ordering my Beam I had read a number of posts surrounding lip sync issues between the Beam and LG OLED TV's. I received my Beam yesterday and hooked it all up (Full 5.1 setup)......... and there were no issues whatsoever with lip Sync. I used the HDMI ARC input and everything was totally fine. I was extremely weary after reading all the negative posts.........but for me it worked like a dream. I have a LG B6 Model that I purchased in November 2016 and I used my own HDMI Cable versus the one provided to me in the box (it was too short to go through my wall). I did nothing special with the controls...... I basically just followed the instructions on the App. I just think everyone needs to try for themselves as the blanket statements regarding LG OLED TV'S is quite misleading. Hi every one!! I run a playbase 5.1 sonos system with an Apple TV gen 4 on my Toshiba 46XV645U and I can’t have the surround sound... the toslink setup can’t be select as something esle than pcm ... can some one help me with that?

I just got a new TV and cannot connect the remote control. I went to room settings, chose TV room, remote, remote control setup, and when I pressed the volume + button the soundbar did not detect any signal. I tried doing with IR switched on and off and it didn't work. It's a new LG OLED TV.
