I would like to add two Sonos play1's for additional TV sound and a 2.1 effect. I do not want to use them for rear surround. Is this possible?

Hi tomnsuze

Yes and No. You can group the Play 1's to the Beam. No, you will not achieve 2.1 audio. I'd suggest saving your money until you have enough to purchase a Playbar or Playbase if all you are trying to do is increase TV audio to a wider stage. Your idea would be more practical if at some point you intended to setup a complete Sonos HT.

Cheers!
Not as the same room. You can group them, but you will not be getting a Left/Center/Right, you will get Left/Left/Center/Right/Right because the Beam is L/C/R. Also for TV sources, the Ones will have a lag, causing a slight echo effect.
