Using beam with no HDMI ARC or optical

Hello, Is there any way of connecting the beam to a TV with no optical or HDMI ARC connections? The only other connections on the tv are component. Are there any specific adaptors that may work? Thanks in advance

Hi, jjbes. Thanks for posting your question. Unfortunately, this is not possible, as this is not a matter of simple adaptation. It would require us to convert the signal from analogue, to digital. In basic terms, a converter requires time to perform its task, by way of numerous calculations. This time required would result in a noticeable lag between sound and image. If you have, for instance, a Sky Box connected to your television, this will likely have an optical port. This would allow you to connect the BEAM to your SkyBox, instead of to your television. I hope this is of some use to you.
Hello, thanks for your reply, I have managed to route it through my Xbox one and use that as a freeview box for now until I purchase a more up to date tv with HDMI ARC.

Thanks again
Hello,

Would something like this cause a noticeable delay?

https://www.flexson.com/by-sonos-product/sonos-playbase/flexson-analogue-to-digital-audio-converter

Thanks again
Has anyone tried this yet?
I'm now in the same situation.

Flexson seems to have made this with Sonos in mind... So perhaps it is an option?

Can you post the model number of this TV to help other potential owners away from it?
Avoid the Samsung J5000

Has no digital signals :/

This page claims otherwise. It does seem unlikely that a TV with hdmi and cec does NOT have optical out.

Hi

Thanks for the reply controlav.

I think the full model number of this specific TV is: UA40J5000AR
I thought it was the J5000 range, but clearly the one you showed was different.

The website for the TV
https://www.samsung.com/africa_en/support/model/UA40J5000ARXSW/

On the manual, you can see the ports available: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201609/20160920172747021/UJ5000-Africa-BN68-07346D-02ENG-0827.pdf

I do find it odd that its a TV that was made by Samsung, and purchased a year ago would not have more up to date ports.

Thanks,
Gavin

Looking at the downloads section on Samsung's site, it's very likely that your TV is a 2014 or 2015 model set... some of the update files listed are that old. I know at least in the US that the J in your model number would indicate a 2015 set... not sure if they use the same letter to year codes elsewhere in the world.
Hi. I have the same question in relation to my TV Telefunken model d39f185q3c. There are hdmi outlets but no ARC or optical. Is there an adaptor I can get to play sound through the beam?
